THE DUSTY ATTIC: Where The Future Meets The Past

Rate this book
They say that time waits for no man. Sometimes I wonder about that. Can two lonely, desperate hearts cry out and be heard hundreds of years apart? Can someone from the future who is used to all the modern conveniences and luxuries live in the past when the frontier of Tennessee was wild and untamed? This is the question that Sara Mathews and Nathan Chambers must answer when Sara wanders into an old dusty attic in an abandoned house and the unimaginable happens.

Terrible title and cover

I almost didn't bother with this book because of the awful title and cover. It's super stupid. But I'm glad I did. I liked the story. It's full if adventure.
Give it a chance. Maybe one day they'll change the name and cover...I hope.

A good story!

I'm on the fence with this book, awesome storyline, but somehow it didn't make me feel like a part of the story. Perhaps because it is a series and you get that it is going to drag out the ending? But that won't stop me from reading the next book!

Time, science fiction element and a romance during the 1700’s. Appreciate the great story telling and details. This author is gifted in the craft.

The Dusty Attic By Susan Elaine Pfeiffer

Four stars, good time travel book, filled with compassion, sex, drama, everything that was typical of living in the 1700's.. Sara choose that life to be in that time with Nathan.. Lots of adjustments, patience and understanding.. But the theory of love wins out is put to the test.. I did not like the ending of the portal of going back and forth, case destroy and she never saw her parents again is a little ruff.. But all ends well

Good premise but

Needed more research. For instance, the author had the protagonists killing groundhogs in the winter. Not possible, they burrow down and hibernate. She also talked about hay bales. Not possible in 1786, hay would have been put up in loose stacks. She also had the protagonists fall in love at first sight and there was no character development. Just poorly written, mostly told story, not shown. I would not read another book by this author.

Love

The love that spans hundreds of years. The story was great. It had all the love and hardships that it needed to keep you reading on and on. It showed how much love can be as strong and faithful in any century. Thank you for a great read and enjoyable story.

I am not gonna lie....I had trouble making it through this one. The concept of the storyline was good, where I was having a lot of trouble was in the dialog. Nathan was supposed to be an 18th century man, and yet for almost the entire book he used words a 21st century man would use. The fact that Sara spent 90% of her time crying or trying not to cry got on my nerves too. There was a short spell in the story when there was some action taking place fighting the Indians that was better. Hopefully, the next book will be researched better.

A bit different from the usual time travels

An interesting read about going back and forth in time!. What would it be like to live in the1780's?
I do question if even a fully charged cell phone would work in that age, batteries I can see.
The romance between Sara and Nathan is charming. The adventures she endured were exciting and harrowing. The way she comes through them makes for an interesting read.
I did have some difficulty getting used to the way this author wrote, descriptions seemed a bit like a list of ideas.

Ok....

The 18th century colonial time is one of my favorite time periods. When I came across this book I was excited to start reading it. While it was well written, I gave it 3 stars because other than it was stated multiple times Sara was in 1786, I couldn't really tell. The language made me think of the old west. "Howdy" to my knowledge wasn't used in colonial America. It felt like a present day story with words thrown in to tell the reader where it was taking place. I did skim to the end to see what happened out of curiosity.

Good book. Needs a better proofreader/editor.

The book held my attention, but I found the excessive amounts of spelling and grammar errors in the second half verv annoying..

Countries have military "naval" forces. Humans have a "navel" or belly button, for instance. People "accept" an offered gift. They don't "except" an offered item. On and on. Still the story kept my interest.

This book felt like it was too long. I wanted it to end. The story was ok but lacked possibilities. I liked the fact that the attic served as a portal between the past and present but I wondered if it was possible for other people to use the portal or for Nathan to travel to the future. The birthing scene bothered me because there was no mention of the placenta.

Perfect reading

This novel will tug you in all directions. It has a very brief start to the adventures. It keeps you very entertained. With emotions all over the board happy worried scared a sad moment here and there. By the end your overjoyed. I was thinking the ending would of been a little different. It could have ended how I thought but, it ended just fine.

This was a great story. I loved the characters and the premise of the time travel plot. It was fun to read and clean. There was romance but no explicit sex scenes, which I detest. It had mystery and adventure, and excitement in it. Just a well-told, clean time travel romance. You will not be disappointed.

The Dusty Attic

I enjoyed the time travel scenario. The characters were quite good and the parents as well. The story was good as I love old time westerns/and futuristic stories. I just wish it was broken into 2 episodes as it seemed to never end.

It was a good book but if she was going back and forth getting him supplies, guns etc and bringing them to his time, she would have changed the timeline and history. Just saying....

Simple, but entertaining

Simplistic in the time portal. Simple to recognize the author as female, two many clothing decriptions, and female panics in tense situations.
