Don't underestimate the intelligence of your readers. You have taken a good plot and characters and made them stupid. I'm mad at you. Engil who could be a king in further books you have reduced to only saying fascinating. All the characters and the whole plot. World has lost meaning. Makes no sense anymore. These have been good books but are just filled now. I'm on the next book but couldn't comment so went back. Now I would not be so mad if i didn't think you could do so much better. Maybe you should of ended the series before you lost interest in the story. You are a good writer. Loved the earlier books. But later ones are empty of content insight and any real feeling. Besides interest. A story. There is no story. Direction anything. You are talented. But you have to care air be interested in your books.
So while I enjoy this overall series immensely, I feel that it is lacking character development that could be there… Nilsa specifically, her continuous stance on magic makes zero sense… Even if she wants to have a hesitancy to it, that makes sense given her history, but she has been around it to much to understand that it is all “filthy”. She has been around Lasgol way to much and cares about him way to deeply, understanding he has magic to continuous this ridiculous stance so staunchly…
Well, I've got to admit that Mr. Urvi did it again. He continues to put out excellent material. Book 11 wasn't any different as it had enough action and intrigue to keep things interesting right from the beginning with the chasing down of the rest of the Dark Rangers to go back to training at the shelter for more hopefully better-expanded training. But in the middle of their training, they got called into duty to head back up to the frozen north. where one of their friends and allies had kind of taken ill. Which at first I thought we would lose him. Lasgol also learned some things about his power as well and even what was keeping him from reaching his full potential as well as for taking down some very powerful enemies once and for all.
In this gripping sequel, the panthers continues toward their journey on keeping the realm safe and being better rangers
---spoiler ---
I love that lasgol got some understanding of his magic and that of camu, The journey is nice to read and feel with usual mocking from viggo, curiosity from egil, nervousness from gerd, acceptance from ingrid. It's a good read. Highly expecting the next book
I enjoyed seeing the Panthers back together. I love their interactions, loyalty, and love for each other. Camu and Ona are also prominent in the book. I wanted this book to continue. It was too.short. I'll have to wait for the next one to see how the enhanced specialist training goes and which specialities each panther obtains.
many many incorrect word usages that could be fixed by a line edit. much tedious repetitive dialogue. periodic losses of plot and continuity that could be fit by structural editing.
At several places, I almost gave up, although the story is pretty good and the saga continues.
I believe that this is a transition book, so as some have not liked it, but I think it is for background for what is ahead. There are many directions now this series can take. Hopefully we will get more books on the way.
Sweet Revenge, and Cold Blooded Killing The team is on a mission to round up the remaining dark rangers. The book dives right into the action with them, taking on a large in full of vagrant and miscreants, trying to sort out the ones who are legitimate dark rangers from more common law breakers.
From those captives, they find the location of a keep where the remaining and final contingent of dark rangers resides. Another clever plan and they put seeds to the key and eventually capture all of the dark rangers. Everyone gets a chance to utilize their expertise and skills.
Ingrid and Viggo’s relationship continues with fits and starts.
The team is sent to the Shelter to resume their training. There is an “improved learning system“ in place and they are the girst trainees. Heavy use of vague magics that allow them to train well beyond their normal endurance.
The training is a strange time, dilation combined with the trainers entering the minds of the trainees. It goes on for sometime and seems to be making good progress when things are interrupted by a sudden call to the capital.
The capitals city is be set by a harsh winter storm of some unknown magical origin. The team is called upon to journey to the ice continent and track down the cause of the storm and kill them. A renowned “ice witch“ Brenda is added to the team as she has the power to track magic back to its origin.
The journey to the ice continent is uneventful. After getting there, they are following Brenda‘s directions. A few minor encounters are avoided, then when they are pursued by a bigger group and all hope is lost, they finally are rescued by an old-guard ice mage who is an ostracized leader of his people currently himself on the run and hunted. He reveals an under-glacier maze of tunnels, chambers, and ultimately leads the group to a safe place. Then he assesses Camu’s situation and diagnosis a need to hibernate, and knows of a magic special place to take him.
The hidden sanctuary is apparently an under-glacier vast series of chambers where various huge, previously unknown ice creatures of various kinds come to hibernate, rest and rejuvenate. One who claims Camu is a kindred you, is huge, over 100’ long and wide. This creature inspects Camp, and agrees him to help him through a difficult first hibernation.
The rest of the crew returns with the shaman who rescued them. They continue to follow Brenda’s directions, discovering the source of the storms, and a huge ceremony attended by hundreds of various ice-continent denizens, all united against the Ranger’s home kingdom. The denizens are led by three individuals of the constituent races who were the same traitors who killed Lasgol’s mother traitorously (and also Egil’s brother). So killing them will also be sweet revenge, in addition to satisfying the desire of the king.
Egil hatches a clever plan, allies come together with the team to execute a multi-layered attack that is successful in taking out all of the enemies. The team returns home in a borrowed boat, leaving Camp behind as it’s unknown how long his hibernation will take. Weeks later Camu returns with new powers including being able to travel magically through the large pearls of which the team has discovered several. He can also manifest wings, cementing his draconic heritage.
Lasgol and Egil have been patiently waiting for an opportunity for revenge against the ones who betrayed their loved ones. Egil could do nothing to save his brother from a spear in the back, and Lasgol held his mother as she died after she was coldbloodedly killed the same way. They may get their chance as the people of the ice once again attack Norghania. This time with a terrible ice storm over the capital city that no one can survive. Many died as the city was evacuated, without time to even gather supplies. Many are suffering as they have nowhere to go, and must make do with whatever the army can scrounge up for them. The king calls on his Royal Eagle team to break their training, go North once again and stop this attack and whoever is launching it. Easier said than done! They have help in the form of Brenda, A snow witch, and of course, Camu, and Lasgol's beautiful snow panther familiar. Unfortunately, something is wrong with Camu that none of them have been able to figure out. He is constantly sleepy, and his magic is on the fritz. Deeply worried, the team knows they are up against decidedly desperate odds on this mission. It's going to take all of their skill and resilience, (and the help of some powerful friends), to have a chance to pull off a daring and dangerous attack on those causing the terrible storm. They better hurry, before the enemy releases another storm on another major city! Can they succeed once again, or will they finally be outmatched? Read this awesome series and find out for yourself!
The Panthers are now the Royal Eagles tasked to find and eliminate the last scattered groups of Dark Rangers. It’s become harder since each group has little or no connection to the others and it’s taken them all over the land. When they have finally eliminated the last one, Gondabar has another challenge for them. They’re all being sent to the Ranger Shelter for further experimental specialist training under Sigrid which makes Lasgol very nervous.
But their training is interrupted by a magical emergency that sends them back into the frozen North. And even though they are short one of their members, they receive some strong magical allies to help fight. And there’s an amazing surprise at the end.
Their magically induced training is even more torturous that their basic and Specialty training was. I don’t know if I would have been willing to try it, but then I wouldn’t have passed the earlier training anyway. LOL.
Fave scenes: Getting Sigurd to talk, taking shelter in the cave, Nilsa waiting for Egil & Gerd, Brenda meeting Camu and the invisible ice slope.
book felt repetitive in the beginning. Then exciting improvements began to happen for the lesser but important Snow Panthers. which I was happy for. Then later we finally get into the meat of the plot and the book title in the middle. Overall, it was another good plot. Had great moments and reveals and more past plots are done/avenged. Some heroes are finally stronger. Took 11 books but they are finally stronger. By other book standards the Main character would have gotten stronger by book 2 or 3 or 7th book compared to this series at book 11! Once again I'm at a crossroads with this series as another chapter closes and I have no idea what the next book could bring. From my POV there is one giant slowly plot left. and based on reading the next few book title's I doubt that plot will get headlined but gradually teased.
After reading book 10 The Great Council, I did not expect book 11, Frozen Origins to take hold of me like it did! I feel as if I have been reading 24 hrs (not able to stop) because these Royal Rangers (Snow Panthers) adventures are just awesome! The mysteries with Camu’s illness and mission to solve the problems happening within the Kings domain, etc. Once again Book 11 packed with problems that kept me hanging on to every word! As you can tell by now, I love this series! Starting book 12 Dragon Spirit, oh yeah!
Pedro Urvi has done it again. This episode in the Path of the Ranger is one of the best he has written so far. Of course, the title has several layers of meaning. The search to understand those meanings is part of the fun in reading his books. Lasgol and Camu are joined by their friends on a mission for the king that turns personal. I recommend this book due to the great adventure and the development of the characters.
Insane adventurous book! It is the best series I have ever read.
I really liked the action part of this book and how well it fits with the other books in its series. I recommend this book to 10-13 year olds. It is a very good book and I am glad that I read the whole series of 11 books.
The author has been using the words irony and sarcasm much more of late, and it has become clear he has no idea what irony means. Most of the time when he uses it he actually means sarcasm, but sometimes its neither. He would do well to have someone who speaks English natively to proofread his work.
While I’m willing to recommend this book I must disclose to you that I’ve read all 20 in the series. The last book is an unmitigated disaster. The author was clearly tired of the work and just gave up. You can enjoy the journey if you want but trust me when I tell you that you will be utterly devastated. I can’t get over it. I’ll never read another one of his books again. You have been warned
Book 11, and the author still continues to create riveting and entertaining stories with main characters who are so noble and big hearted. The story is original and unlike previous books. The characters continue to grow and become, even more interesting. Thank you again for a fun read….
