I couldn’t wait for new episodes of the anime. It was killing me. BUT THE NOVEL IS SO GOOD???? i died several times how can this be YA and so spicy at the same time???

“Unfortunately, I won’t be able to listen to your requests. I am the demon king, after all.”
“Please refrain from marching that out whenever it’s convenient, if you would!”
“It’s all right. Even if your mind breaks, I’ll cherish you. I’ll tenderly care for you myself, every day. I’ll comb that lovely hair, dress you in a different gown each day, and I’ll wash every inch of your skin.” His lips may be smiling, but his red eyes are terrifyingly serious.”

He’s just such a crazy demon king I love it

Following Aileen's successful quest of conquering Claude, the demon king, and becoming his fiancée, the story moves on to the game's sequel in this book. In a true otome game series standard, the second game has its own heroine and last boss, and it also takes place in a different place. This allows us to see a popular genre in otome games that we didn't have the chance to see in the previous book: school life. Due to certain circumstances, Aileen decides to disguise herself as a male student and sneak into Misha Academy in the hope of preventing destruction.

As far as the story goes, this second volume is a little weaker than the first for me simply because I find school settings rather restrictive. It limits Aileen's activities to only things she can do inside an academy, even though she's still a brilliant main character. She also gets a whole new batch of pawns allies, and considering the game has a fandisk and even more sequels, this will probably be a reoccurring thing. The story does a pretty good job distinguishing all the new side-characters though, so no complaints from me.

Again, the only reason I'm rating this 4★ is the translation. It's still stiff with weird wording choices, and at times it really diminishes my enjoyment because the lines don't flow naturally. There's still a lot of usage for "to begin with" as a sentence opener, and also plenty of lines which were obviously translated literally without any paraphrasing. Not sure if they're going to maintain this quality for the rest of the series, but for this book the translation is still subpar. It really doesn't do the original justice.

Please, be thorough with the editing and proofreading for future volumes. I will not stop saying this until it gets better, because it's really such a shame.

Volume two picks up from where volume one ends, but we’re in the sequel game. Although interestingly executed, I hope the story moves away from the otome game plot and expands in other aspects.

The story focuses on the Duchy of Mirchetta, where rumor spreads that the demons are rebelling and planning to attack the humans. Claude leaves for the Duchy as a temporary proxy while also investigating the rumors. However, Aileen, noticing this is the setup for the sequel game, takes the help of her allies and demons to infiltrate Misha Academy as a boy. As the clock ticks closer to the main event, Aileen is trying her best to save Claude.

This was a fun read, however the constant references to the otome game dampened the overall experience of the story. The constant game referrals on characters, setting and storyline pulled away from the excitement of experiencing them with Aileen while witnessing her honest reaction. I felt this made the new characters pale in comparison to volume one, while giving them little to no personality. The story does try to redeem them near the end but I couldn’t connect or feel for their circumstances by then.

Although not a primary part of the story, Claude’s personality is more developed. I absolutely enjoyed Claude in this volume for many reasons, especially his emotions. Claude isn’t scared of expressing what he feels when, and that is the primary reason why there are no unnecessary misunderstandings in this story so far.

The anime covers volume two and although I don’t prefer comparing two different media outlets, I felt the light novel did much better. The anime downplayed the intensity of the scenes making them more light hearted and comedic. While watching it, I couldn’t really feel Claude’s emotions and Aileen’s struggle with the mystery seemed simplified. However, the light novel goes into more depth and it feel more organic.

The plot in this volume is similar to volume one with a larger cast from a slightly different perspective. Due to it being very similar, it doesn’t add much value to the overall story and feels like a filler. It does however increase Aileen and Claude’s supporters as well as shines some light on Lilia.

Overall, I enjoyed this story and the illustrations throughout. I’m looking forward to reading more of Aileen and Claude’s journey and the changes they plan to bring to unite their nation.

This volume is just as fun as the first volume! It's its own contained story following the sequel of the game from the first volume. We get a bunch new interesting characters, while still seeing more of the characters from the first volume, and we get an intriguing threat at the end of this volume that has me eager to read Volume 3!

I enjoyed the first one, but this one even more so. I adored all the new side characters we met and I'm glad we'll get to see more of them. Especially James.

Plus the duck costumes...I cackled. It gave me Skip Beat vibes. Perfection.

Aileen has won the heart of Claude, the Demon King, and her life has gotten back on track. Until news comes of a bunch of demons acting in defiance of Claude's orders not to attack humans. The demons may be victims to a certain type of drug, and Aileen recognizes this as the trigger event for the sequel to the game she's now living. Can she navigate school life, avoid her fiancee, win over the new student council, and figure out just how much the second game will impact?

This is a lot of fun. If the first book was all about Aileen going after Claude, this book is mostly about her trying to keep away from him, because she's guilty of defying his orders to stay home and let him handle the problem.

And Aileen doesn't do things by halves.

I like the new cast of characters that surrounds her. James, Auguste, Walt, Kyle, and Rachel all slot neatly into various otome game tropes, but Aileen is forging them into something better: a group of friends. I love how she thinks it's too sad that the guys don't actually get along that well, and her method for group solidarity is hilarious. She's pulling them beyond what they used to be.

If there's one thing I seriously don't like about this volume, it's the lack of side story after the end. There's a really fun short story about Walt and Kyle that does a lot to deepen their characters (as well as show Claude being an absolute riot) that didn't get included. I would recommend hunting down the fan translation for that, since I doubt it will end up legally available anywhere.

Overall if you enjoyed the first book, definitely read this one. This is lighter content-wise (although Claude can be a bit more menacing). Aileen just bulldozes her way through everything in front of her. I rate this book Recommended.

This book definitely changed things up. While Volume 1 was your typical isekai otome villainess light novel, this volume was the one that really differentiated this series from others of the same genre.

For starters, I enjoyed the difference in setting from Volume 1. This volume gave you an academy setting that you missed from Volume 1 alongside some charming twists (such as ducks). While that setting may be similar to a good number of series in this genre, this one did have the charming twist of cross-dressing. Though that is still a popular trope, it didn't seem to similar to others. This volume also gave you more comprehensive love interests from the original game. Unlike Volume 1 which only introduced you to three of the love interests (one of which is barely even present and another of which is a hidden route), this novel introduces you to all of the love interests and explains their routes, even if briefly.

Finally, the end of the volume really differentiated this series from the others.

Overall, I really enjoyed this and the Duck Squad definitely has my soul.

Duck rangers lol

Another great volume in the series. New content for those reading the manga (unless they finally released a volume after 3) and the full 2nd arc from the anime. I love the antics and particularly the ducks. The new characters are fun and I look forward to seeing more of them.

We have cross-dressing shenanigans and undercover missions for this volume and I really enjoyed it all. Even though Aileen and Claude aren’t together as much in this one, seeing what they’re up to and how their actions affect the other was pretty funny.
Looking forward to the rest of the series

3 1/2 stars

A nice follow-up that unfortunately spends its focus on time where the mains are separated. At least it makes up for it with a simple (very simple) mystery and a sprinkling of lore and upcoming developments

Fantastic!

I chose 5 stars because I couldn't stop reading it at all. From start to end, it kept me entertained and visibly excited for what is going to happen next. Can't wait to continue this journey

This was actually a really cool reincarnation fantasy/romance. It reminded me of Why Raeliana ended up at the dukes mansion. Cute ending :)

one of my fav villainess stories

I have read read books 1 through 3 of this series and I have to say it’s great! Don’t get me wrong I do like my next life has a villainess all routes lead to doom but there’s a reason the main character is called bakarina.

I love the main character Aileen. even when the first book was starting out and it was a typical plot of transmigrating into the villainess character she stole the show! Instead of wallowing that she transmigrated has a villainess right at the condemnation scene, she stood strong and made a plan to save herself!

The second book in my opinion is the best of the series so far. not only is the villainess a transmigrator so is the heroine Lilia. And we see how both of them use the knowledge of the sequel of the Otome game they have transmigrated into to their advantage. By using the heroine and villainess in the sequel game.

One of the things I like most about this series is that the villainess uses her brain and wits to make a better ending for herself in book one and then in book 2 she recognizes that the sequel game is happening and decides to protect her fiancé Claude in secret.

If you like villainess stories then you shouldn’t miss out on this!

Déjame que revise la lista… tenemos:
- Una trama de misterio
- Una academia
- Genderbender

I love Aileens attitude toward things. The start of the novel was a bit drab and I didn't find it so intriguing, but as it progressed, I started liking it more and more. The end was fast paced and fun.

This took me six days to read, and on the last day, I read about 90 pages. That should tell you something about the end of this novel. (It was quite a busy day too.)

PS. I loved the duck contumes

PPS. I loved James, my friend didn't, since his name is James Charles

Beautiful

It’s so goddamn beautiful and please tell me I’m not the only person who blushed when Claude send his first love letter. Why must Claude be so sweet and lovable?! Also, Aileen is so cute in drag! In short, I really loved this book and can’t wait for the next volume
