The cyberpunk metropolis Shinjuku—a massive city-state bedecked with neon signs, towering skyscrapers, and the latest cutting-edge technology. It is here, in year 2099 of the Fused Era, where the legendary Demon Lord Veltol has his second coming five centuries in the making. But this landscape is nothing like the one he conquered all those years ago, for the fusion of magic and engineering has elevated civilization to dazzling, unprecedented heights. Veltol may have been reduced to a historical footnote, but make no mistake…this brave new world will be his for the taking!
Overall I enjoyed it. I have no desire to read more but I may but the anime on in the background when it comes out.
I enjoyed Veltol’s androgynous design and character. I was excited to see he was going to become a streamer to gain followers and thought this would be a fun arc- nope it immediately skips to him have tons. Boring. I wanted to see him going through the hardships of trying to garner an audience, I though there was a lot of potential there for some comedy.
I also liked Marcus, I wish we could’ve seen more of him and had him retreat so he could come back stronger as a bigger villain later. But nope, killed off in the first book. Dull.
World building was pretty good. I did enjoy that, it made sense and wasn’t too wordy all at once.
I think the author has a lot of potential and just needs to refine some concepts.

I went through the entire list of YenPress Light Novels and this is one of the ones that caught my attention (because of Challe's BA-looking twin brother on the cover) Slight research into it revealed that there was a new anime coming out for it (up to episode 5 as I'm writing this), so I watched the anime then promptly bought the first book and after reading it promptly bought the next two books in the series.
This book does everything I'd want it to... Lord Veltol starts out full of himself, as you would expect a Demon Lord to be, and as the story progresses he... well, he doesn't become NOT full of himself exactly, but he does drink SOME humble juice and comes to a balance in a way that doesn't come off as stupid or unbelievable.
I'm not used to reading techno books but the way the world, magic and technology are described is fascinating. Definitely looking forward to reading more and explore the future world and watch Veltol Velvet Velsvalt and his cohorts do things
A Demon King who gets "Killed" in a medevil society, gets brought back in a Cyberpunk future version of Japan. One of his old allies is running the place, and doesn't like the old king anymore. The hero who killed him is still around as well, but treated as a villain.
It's an interesting Idea. I am curious as to how the series turns out. The writing as alright. Nothing new or flashy, just almost stereotypes of what you would expect. Almost similar to Devil is a part-timer, but in a future society.
When I saw there was a Cyberpunk light novel I had to try and was not disappointed.
The world building and magic system in this novel were better than I was anticipating and when something occurred outside of what has been explained it was explained nearly right away, which was nice.
Can't wait for Volume two and see what the small entry in the Epilogue was about.
Fun, a little predictable, but sometimes it's nice to have a good old anti-hero story. Looking forward to the next. This reminds me of .hack, it's the character growth that will see where this series lands!
