One explosive night. No names. No numbers. No chance they’ll see one another again.
Meet Jemma West. Her fledgling catering business is toast thanks to one bad review. With her reputation in tatters and all her clients gone, she’s stuck cooking brunch for hipsters. When she’s offered the opportunity to plan a social media darling’s wedding, it sounds like the answer to all her prayers. There is just one small snag, the new gig also comes with an assistant, the bride-to-be’s brother. Who just so happens to be the sexy as hell nameless guy she hasn’t been able to stop thinking about since he left her bed.
Enter Nash Easton. Hotshot chef whose life has spiraled out of control. His wife of 6 years walked out with some guy named Trent and he hasn’t cooked a single thing since. He’s back in New York for a fresh start and to try and make sense of his life. That started well with a night tangled around an anonymous and magnetic blonde. But the very last thing he expected was to see her again, or that they’d have to work together to plan his sister's wedding.
Can these two headstrong chefs maintain their professional distance, or will the simmering chemistry be too much to resist?
✨The competency kink is real with this book. Two sexy chef’s with great chemistry falling in love? Sign me up! 🙋🏽♀️ ✨
How on earth was this Erin Thomson’s debut?!The best romance books are the ones that are able to balance plot, connection, emotion, romance, friendships, etc. This book did that and more. Everything was seamlessly done and perfectly balanced. I was hooked in by the story and the romance. I was heartwarmed by the friendships and emotions. This book had me HOOKED from the very first page.
I feel like if you are a fan of Talia Hibbert’s Brown Sisters series, this book gives you the same vibe.
Tropes: 😫 strangers to enemies to lovers 👫🏻 second chance-ish? 😏 “It is just a hook-up” 👀 forced proximity (b/c they have to work together) 🧠 competency kink (two people who truly understand and challenge each other intellectually) 🔥sizzling chemistry 🥺 secret cinnamon roll hero 👩🏼🍳 strong heroine 🥵 AMAZING steam
CW: power imbalance at work & mentions of Sexual assault, abuse, spousal cheating, abortion, and rape.
Summary: After a fiery one night stand, Jemma gets a catering gig for a wedding. But, the new gig also comes with an assistant, the bride-to-be’s brother. Who happens to be the sexy man she hasn’t been able to stop thinking about since he left her bed. Will these two headstrong chefs be able to maintain their professional distance to get the job done or will the simmering chemistry be too much to resist?
Both characters were so easy to fall in love with, and their struggles and love was so wonderful to read. I always get concerned when the characters don’t have chemistry beyond the bedroom. That was not the case with this book. Their chemistry in all ways was THROUGH THE ROOF 🙌🏼 The connection these two had, both physical and emotional, was fantastic.
Nash. Wow. Nash has my heart. That man constantly made me melt. Right off the bat he was saying and doing things that were making me melt. I am a sucker for a secret cinnamon roll hero. He was giving me all of that goodness. He was so in love with Jemma, I was just reading the book like 🥺
The steam, oh god the steam. I was not expecting this book to be so steamy. I love it! I was truly sitting there like 🥴😏 reading those scenes.
My only critique is how the dialogues were a little off sometimes. Sometimes it gave me the same ‘girl boss’ dialogue vibes of Veronica from Riverdale. There were some parts that gave me a little 'Buzzfeed feminism' vibes. For example: that scene in the beginning where Nash walks in on his sister walking around her apartment in skimpy underwear and she starts making it a thing about feminism. Love the message, I was just a little off put by what was happening.
I really enjoyed this book and cannot wait to read more from Erin. Definitely go pick this up.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/ 5 stars | 🌶🌶🌶.5/ 5 steam
Thank you to Erin Thompson for an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion ❤️
Nash, a burnt out chef trying to find his motivation to cook after a messy few months and Jemma, a feisty caterer on the brink of losing her business because of a bad review, are forced to work together when Nash’s sister appoints them as her planners for her fast approaching wedding.
TW/ CW : Mentions of past sexual and emotional abuse, rape, abortion, power imbalance in the workplace and cheating
I flew through this book. The story has just the right amount of steam, humor, drama and heart to keep the reader entertained through to the end. One of the things that really stood out was how the author’s language was different and managed to make me laugh quite a lot. Since both our leads are chefs, we see more than a few mentions of delicious food and cooking. Just reading Erin’s mouthwatering descriptions of cake and crumpets is enough for me to add another star to my rating.
Jemma’s character is wonderfully well rounded with strength, fierce sense of independence and a will to prove herself along with vulnerability that came with her tough past. Nash is a little lost for most of the story but you cannot help but love him as we see his sweet, swoony side. The chemistry between these two characters is off the charts steamy. There is so much tension, pining and waiting with an inevitable explosive outcome.
Erin Thomson has raised the bar with her debut novel and has me eager to see what she writes next. You should definitely pick up The Wedding Planners if you’re looking for a story with enough steam to set your kindle on fire, a past that will break your heart, a spunky heroine, inappropriately hilarious friends, food as a love language and a cake tasting scene to rival all others.
Special thanks to Erin Thomson for sharing an Advanced Reader Copy with me in exchange for my honest review.
the wedding planners is erin thomson’s debut, and oh my god. what a perfect debut. i loved this book from page one. i have said it a thousand times now so everyone knows that i love strangers to lovers–two people that don’t know each other at all and skip all the friendship stuff because they are attracted to each other and want to explore that without losing time. so, in this case, jemma and nash’s connection starts sexually (and let me tell you… this was god tier steam), but then they hit an enemies-ish phase that i enjoyed a lot, and they start knowing each other better. so, their chemistry was off the charts. in bed, outside the bed, talking, cooking, fighting… all the time, it was there and it was obvious and i truly sensed it.
this book also deals with some heavy topics (see content warning at the end of the review), and in my opinion, everything was dealt with care and the seriousness it requires. jemma’s past was something that, sadly, a lot of women can relate to (hopefully, not as far as jemma). her strenght and her personality were admirable. how after everything and thanks to the correct help and friendships, she was able to keep going with her life. honestly, i have read a lot of books that deal with topics like these and this one might be my favorite so far.
everything that happens in the book makes perfect sense for both nash and jemma. i loved how everything was resolved at the ending. i wouldn’t change anything even if i could. also, i loved literally every single secondary character! darcy and harley were amazing friends, i need to know what’s going on with chase and mack and i loved dallas, she was so so cute!
the wedding planners is out september 13th, so keep an eye out for it because it’s one of the good ones.
cw: abuse, toxic relationship, power imbalance, rape
Ésta es una historia de Lovers to Enemies to Lovers. Y aunque la novela me enganchó, siento que no empatice con Nash. Hacia unas cosas a las que no les veía mucha lógica... Aun así es una lectura recomendable. 👌🏼
_ He was looking at me like he was starving, and I was the meal. A heavy throb shook me down to my bones and I was pretty sure I knew what Harley meant about spontaneous ovulation. My ovaries just screamed ‘ladies this is not a drill’. _ “For the record…” I started, stretching up onto my toes and tugging him down by his beard. “I like that kissing doesn’t stop at kissing.” _ “If you two do not kiss immediately I am going to mash your faces together...”
After one angry catering customer accuses Jemma of giving them food poisoning, Jemma goes out to drown her sorrows and ends up in bed with an ultra sexy stranger, who she never gets the name of. He just so happens to be Nash, recently separated & feeling lost in life. He can’t stop thinking about the alluring Brit who rocked his world.
Not long after their romp in the sheets, Nash & Jemma meet again under very different circumstances. Nash’s sister is getting married and she hires Jemma to be her wedding planner & wants Nash to help her. Since both of them are chefs, they butt heeds wherever food is involved. But after their one amazing night together, neither Nash nor Jemma can deny the heat between them. And even though they know it’s so wrong, being together just feels so right, too.
The Wedding Planners is Erin Thomson’s debut novel & a really good one at that! Nash & Jemma had great chemistry and I loved all the foodie elements thrown in. If you’re looking for a fun, sweet & sexy romance that also has more emotional depth, I’d really recommend this one! 4/5 stars.
okay so this was actually really entertaining and i loved the whole wedding planner aspect of it, and the chemsitry between jemma and nash is off the charts
i’m going 3.5 stars because although the storyline and side characters were fun, there were times when it felt like just sex between j&n?? like there was little emotional development between them and just a purely physical lusty reaction to one another
overall, a pretty fun and easy read but i NEED a chase and mack book right now
This book was entertaining. Strangers that had one night stand are planning a wedding together. Jemma and Nash have great chemistry and banter and this is trust me when I say steamy contemporary romance. In end forced proximity trope lovers rejoice also when can I have Mack and Chas book.
I flew through The Wedding Planners and loved it from beginning to end. Jemma's catering business is at risk of tanking thanks to a poor review, so her friends take her out for the night to cheer her up. There, she meets Nash, who. Yes. Oh, Nash. I have many feelings. Suffice it to say, things between them heat up very quickly. But that's OK, since it was just a one night thing. No names. No feelings. Right?
From the moment Jemma and Nash first hook up, I needed to know how their story ends. The dialogue sparkles and the chemistry between them is wonderful. While Jemma and Nash are the stars of the show, they are surrounded by a tight group of friends and family who also shine in their own rights. Jemma in particular has been through some difficult experiences, which lend an emotional complexity to the final part of the story. I would highly recommend The Wedding Planners to any romance fans, especially those who enjoy steam, strangers to lovers, or forced to work together elements!
ARC kindly provided by the author. These opinions are my own.
“I know that you’re here with me, that we’re here together. And I want you to know that I value and trust you with everything I have.”
Erin Thomson’s debut deserves all the stars in the galaxies (and ratings) because it was so, so good! Easily a top fav of mine!
Jemma’s catering business has gone wrong after a food poisoning incident and instead of staying home all night, her friends basically dragged her to go out with them. There she meets a tall, handsome man with a beard and gray-green eyes and they both agree to no names, no numbers, and he must leave before she’s up.
When she’s offered to plan a social media + actor’s wedding, she’s hesitant at first but then agrees in hopes that it’ll save her career. Except two things: 1) she’s not a wedding planner, and 2) she has to team up with the bride’s brother… who happens to be the one-night stand. Nash didn’t expect to see, let alone work with Jemma. However, when she finds out that he has a wife (but separated), she tries her best to keep things professional between them. But the attraction and chemistry is way too strong.
👰🏻♀️READ IF YOU LIKE👰🏻♀️: - dual POV - strangers to lovers - hero x heroine chefs - one night stands - weddings - tea & crumpets - British accent x southern accent - cw: anxiety/panic attacks, mentions of sexual assault, being controlled & manipulated, abortion, affairs
Thank you Erin Thomson for the advanced copy! The Wedding Planners will be available on September 13, 2021!
Jemma and Nash are one of those couples where if you saw them out in real life you wouldn't be able to keep your eyes off them! 👀
As it is, I couldn't keep my head out of this book - or this book out of my head! This debut novel is a sensory delight - taste, touch, smells. I have never wanted to eat sourdough crumpets and cake so much in my life! I found myself salivating at certain scenes and wishing I'd picked up a cake from the supermarket during my shop (although I'm sure it wouldn't have compared to the culinary depictions in this book).
But aside from food, ahh.. this book! I have laughed, cried, felt my heart swell with love for these two and at times wanted to scream ‘Nooo you idiots!’
The author is adept at taking the reader through the massive highs and crashing lows of those initial stages of falling in love. It was a real swoon-fest with a truck load of sexual tension, but it wasn't just about the lust and smut (although there was plenty of that!). This was sophisticated storytelling with plenty of layers and such tender moments.
The author was able to address the subject of abuse with such sensitivity and realism. Jemma and Nash weren't the only ones falling in love - I fell head over heels for this book and thoroughly recommend it 💘💘💘💘💘
I was lucky enough to receive an eARC in exchange for an honest review but I also ordered myself a paperback copy as soon as I saw it go live on Amazon 🥰📚
Sizzling sexual tension and all the swoony swoons!
I absolutely adored Nash and Jemma’s story. 😍 Their chemistry was off the charts. They both captivated my heart, and never let go.
Erin created beautiful, vivid settings with all the locations in the story. I will be dreaming of Nash’s New York Brownstone home until the end of time. 🌆
I also loved Erin’s writing style; witty and charming and compulsively readable.
If you love rom-coms, weddings or just a damn good love story, this book is for you!
*I received an advance copy from the author and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.*
Not bad for a debut novel. However, it felt a bit underdeveloped and kind of rushed and very oversexualized, like the main characters couldn't go two pages without being turned on by each other breathing.
"Over the last month, my sense of home had shifted. It wasn't just about this condo, or this city. New York was closer to being home, to feeling like, but only because of one particular person in it. It was her. She was home. I'd known it, hadn't I? When the scent of her made me feel alive and calm all at once, when talking to her about anything was the brightest part of my day, when just being near her made everything make sense."
This was a fun time!! Two chefs-turned-wedding-planners who are strangers that hook up one night and find out two weeks later that they have to plan a wedding together??? Sign me UP!
This was a super quick read! Lots of lusty attraction and palpable chemistry within these pages. Also TONS of needing to communicate with one another about their personal issues and feelings for one another as the story developed. I was mentally shaking their shoulders and yelling at them to TALK! TO! EACH! OTHER! I was DEFINITELY invested and rooting for their happy ending. I laughed, I CRIED, and craved lots of yummy food (the food descriptions were AMAZING and I need to have a homemade sourdough crumpet IMMEDIATELY).
I'm soooo excited to read the next one!! I NEED THE CHASE AND MACK BOOK IMMEDIATELY.
do i even count this as a dnf if it's at 1% ? i'm going to because i feel insane. i'm about to be a hater. sorry ----
"... Darcy said from the kitchen, she didn't look like a Hemsworth." girl what are you talking about. was something cut in editing. it had to be. what. also shut the fuck up about how hot keanu reeves is. i don't fucking care.
also this book is VERY british in a way that i was NOT expecting. it takes place in nyc and then we get "flat" and "bloody" and "rubbish" all within two paragraphs. there's nothing wrong with that, but like, make it clear in the plot summary? it feels like it was intentionally left out of the plot summary. it's weird. i don't. i don't understand.
jemma's ex's name is jonah? you couldn't think of a different name that didn't start with j and end in an "a" sound?
I thoroughly enjoyed this debut from Erin Thomson, and already have book two waiting to be read on my bookshelf. Can’t wait to meet more characters in this series!
The Wedding Planners, i have to admit, apart from the very hot one night stand we start with, had sizzling chemistry in almost every chapter. I'm not complaining... It was slowburn, but the mutual pining was intense, but oh, so lovely.
Two things that i just couldn't overlook are the fact that Nash was separated but still married and that his mother kept pushing him to go back to his wife. It's not the most major issue of the story, it was personally just unnecessary.
But i loved the idea of two people working together to get themselves "fixed." Noah lost his mojo, and Jemma has a ruined reputation. Noah was a bit dicky so he had to work for my forgiveness but Jemma was perfect!
Erin Thomson's debut book is a fresh, fun romance that fans of Sophie Kinsella and Jane Green will love. The story takes place in New York as we find Nash and Jemma thrown together after a one-night stand that should have been just that...one night only! There are a darker themes in this books but they are handled with care and consideration and it is nice to see a male main character who displays only positive traits and is emotionally literate. A must read!
Received an ARC copy of this book in return for an honest review, and went out and bought a copy of my own as soon as it was published 🥰
Love me a read full of steamy sexual tension between two professionals working towards a goal!
Spotlight - The Wedding Planners Genre - YA + Contemporary Romance Author - Erin Thomson Rating - 5 stars
Cop this book if you - 1. enjoy contemporary romance with a hint of kink 2. love everything about weddings - from cake to wine & everything in between 3. like the idea of two chefs falling in love over cake & wine
Get ready to say hello to the new-yorkers and chefs by profession - Nash Easton & & Jemma West! After being trolled on social media for a catering order gone wrong, Jemma seeks solace in a wild Saturday night drinking adventure with her friends. Meanwhile, in a parallel universe not too far from Jemma, Nash heads back to NYC from LA to find that lost fire in his passion for cooking. He ends up at the same bar only to find himself in a hot, raw one night stand with Jemma later that evening.
With no personal info exchanged they find themselves lost in the after glory, for days on end. As twisted as fate could be, they end up meeting again, this time to plan a wedding in 4 weeks for Dallas (a social media sensation & Nash's li'l sister). Crazy, right? It's only then that Jemma finds out about Nash's recent separation from his wife which stirs a whirlpool of emotions inside her stomach. She decides to plan the wedding on her own while dealing with the recent hots she's developed for Nash.
The book head-hops between Jemma and Nash, as they narrate the journey of their sexual tension, the struggles of a failed marriage, the aftermath of a toxic abusive past, an "out-of-this-world" cake testing, mouth-watering wedding menus, and all the other things that come along when there's a wedding to plan for a big-shot.
After pages and pages of steamy chemistry that set my heart & kindle on fire, the moment the two decided to drop their planning and jump into their desires was simply delicious, hot and satisfying all at once. I breezed through the book, the 'female-friendship-bond' between Jemma and her wild with no filter friends, the relationship between Nash and his gal-pal Chase, all made me so happy.
The strong-level headed Jemma boldly going for to get what she desires and craves for, both physically and emotionally, with a man who has baggage, who she claims to have fallen hopelessly in love with - was just the ideal powerful woman trait I relished all through.
WOAH! Do you see this whole plot turning into one rom-com of a movie, heck I certainly do!
Disclaimer - I'd never read a 'romance' novel before this one, but holy hell, I might just have to start! What a debut effort from Erin Thomson that leaves you wondering what literary magic she's got in store for you in the future!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, as it was an utter page turner. If I'm honest, I neglected 'adulting' and my husband for several days while I powered through this text. It just had me wanting to read more (I even had a few 'read ahead' and 'I just want to know!' moments).
Calling 'The Wedding Planners' steamy is an understatement. This novel is so much more than that. It's steamy, sticky, spicy and the right amount of sweet. (It's seductive as hell too - but you can read between the lines on that one...)
Whenever I read a book, I always look for strong, relatable and interesting characters. Erin delivers those in 'The Wedding Planners'. Both her lead and side characters had enough depth to feel authentic, engaging and relatable. Not to mention how scarily accurate some of their inner monologues were in different situations. These moments supported the sprinkling of humour throughout the book that made for an even more enjoyable and entertaining read.
My Summer break/Christmas holidays were the perfect time to pick up this book because it was a fun read that was easy to follow. It could easily be enjoyed as something you devour in a matter of hours or days, or in a 'slow burn' scenario where you pick it up where/when you can.
This book made me not only fall in love with food (and consider whether it would be my new love language), contemplate my ability to take up event planning as my next career move and daydream about a New York holiday with all the coffee, pastries, brunches and nights out I could want.
If romances, filled with chemistry and lust filled scenes, or tall, tattooed men with man buns and facial hair are your jam, I can highly recommend this book!
Some themes: FM romance Strangers to lovers Food as a love language
TWs: sexual and emotional abuse, rape, PTSD, abortion/termination
"It was her. She was home... When the scent of her made me feel alive and calm all at once, when talking to her about anything was the brightest part of my day, when just being near her made everything make sense."
The Wedding Planners is about two chefs: Jemma, whose catering business comes to a crashing hold amidst food poisoning rumours and Nash, who sold his successful restaurants in LA after his marriage ended. The pair has a hot one-night stand but doesn't even exchange names. So it's obviously a shock when Nash's sister, Dallas, begs Jemma to plan her wedding in a month... and insists Nash is her assistant.
Here's what to expect: - Strangers to enemies to lovers - Secret cinnamon roll hero x strong heroine. - Dual perspectives - ALL the food references, including a very hot cake tasting. Jemma was the spark that made Nash fall back in love with cooking. - A steamy one-night stand. - A+ sexual tension and chemistry: "The man kissed like the devil and tasted like sin." Erin brings the steam! - Forced proximity/workplace romance adjacent as they planned a quick NYC wedding. - Amazing friends and landlady, but Harley particularly made me LOL: "I think I just spontaneously ovulated."
Nash portrayed himself as a grump, but there was a sweet cinnamon roll hero hiding inside. It was the little things, like when he wanted to ensure no one hurt her again and bought her tea and a teapot for his new home 🥹. The only thing I didn't get was why the word "divorce" was never mentioned until the last moments. He was obviously in love with Jemma but I felt like he waited too long to make the ultimate move to end his marriage.
Meanwhile, Jemma was a strong and determined FMC, having moved from the UK to NYC after school and starting her own catering business. I adored seeing her thrive as a wedding planner after leaving an abusive relationship (TWs: sexual assault and abortion). I also loved the ending!
I needed something soft and entertaining, and this book provided me with all that. Despite some heavy and difficult issues being addressed in the story, this was done in a careful manner that didn't make the narrative weigh down from its former levity - and although I'm known for loving all the pain and angst and tearing of my heart, at this point, I needed the exact opposite. The writing style is humorous, sarcastic, so much fun and had me grinning at the banter, the exchanges between characters - Hailey, anyone? - the inner dialogues. I loved the chemistry between them all, be it in the romantic relationships as in the friendships, which you don't really get to see explored in such a manner. Chase and Nash's friendship was particularly special, for me, and I loved calling her and Mack mac and cheese throughout the whole novel - I hear there's one about them, and I'm sure that when I get to it, I will be calling it the mac and cheese book and it will be just as soothing and comforting as a serving of said dish. I think the one thing I most enjoyed about this tale was the sexual atraction angle between the main characters - this is not often written in such a manner that their relationship starts from sex and attraction and grows into something far more deep while they get to know each through - yes, you guessed it - sex. This things happen, people, and great sex can also be a strong start to a great relationship and a lasting love story, and I am glad I got to see this angle explored outside danmei novels. All in all, I'd def recommend this book to anyone who enjoys sweet, funny romance with a lot of sizzle between the couple and a lot of banter as well.
This book had a great intriguing beginning that made me want to know more. Then the middle was all about them pining for each other but too scared to do anything about it. Finally at the end we see the relationship develop into something beyond sex. I love that Nash is a southerner and I love his character description. He reminds me of Jason Mamoa. Hot damn! Nash is a master at flirting with Jemma. I like that it was also a playful flirtation. I appreciate that Jemma talks like she is from the UK. Some authors forget that their characters are from a specific place. I like her friends and the closeness they have together. They were always there for her and wanted what was best. I love steamy scenes but I felt that there were times when it was just sex between the characters and no emotional development happening. There was some beautiful written scenes that dealt with hard issues. I loved that the author was able to capture that. I felt though while there were some serious talks there were also times where the characters didn’t dive too deep. One thing that I was happy to see was that Jemma bossed Nash around for what she wanted in bed. You don’t see that in too many books. I have to say even though it started with a one night stand this book has been a slow burn and I quite like that. If you are looking for a romance story that started from a one night stand this is the one for you!
Thank you very much to the author for an ARC copy!
To prep myself for my next ARC read, I pulled up The Wedding Planners by Erin Thomson on Kindle Unlimited last night sometime after my kid went to sleep (definitely after 10pm) with the intent to just read a couple chapters before bed.
Next thing I knew, I had finished the book, it was 4:40am and I needed to be up to get ready for work in less than 3 hours.
Needless to say, I couldn’t put this down.
Jemma’s growing catering business has been trashed on social media. Nash’s wife of six years has walked out on him. These two strangers meet and have an explosive night together, expecting to never see each other again. Then, something crazy happens - they are reunited when Nash’s social media influencer sister gets engaged and insists they plan her wedding…TOGETHER.
The tension is high as Jemma navigates her growing feelings while attempting to remain angry at Nash for what she thinks is a blatant lie. The heat between the two kept me turning page after page, waiting for them to recreate that first, VERY HOT night together. The choice to use dual POV (one chapter being from Jemma's POV and the next being from Nash's) allows for insight into a situation that we do not often get in real life. Though there were some plot points that were predictable, it was an overall enjoyable story that almost made me want to re-enter the dating scene.
I don’t know about you, but I love a good will they-won’t they romance! This was a nice break from the fantasy that I normally read and checked a few boxes for me.
Romance? ✅ Spice? ✅✅ Unrealistic expectations about dating and men in real life? ✅✅✅
If you’re looking for a contemporary romance that is a quick read and pulls you in immediately (like, seriously, RIGHT AWAY), grab a copy of The Wedding Planners now!
TW: mentions of past abuse (sexual/emotional), rape, abortion
WHAT A GEM. This book is EVERYTHING. I was generously provided this book as an ARC. All opinions are my own.
I fell in love with this book in probably about 10 pages. I am a sucker when it comes to two of my favorite things. Food and love. E.Thomson is amazing. I immediately fell for both Nash and Jemma. One of the reasons (of many) that I love the combination of food and love is because when a lot of people don't know what to say or even how to say it they say it with food. This speaks to me because , well that's what I do! We can make deeper connections with someone when we share a meal. The ANGST in this book was palpable. I LOVED it. The witty banter and snide remarks killed me. As I said I love both characters but Jemma, what a woman. Strong, determined, but also HILARIOUSLY REAL, in the best way. Nash, oh nash. How I love Nash. The beard, the tattoos, and the wit. In an effort not to give anything away. I think a really important theme here is that Love waits for no man and timing well, whats that? We forget that as humans we actually have very little control. We can't control what people say to us or how they respond to us. What we CAN control is how we respond to it. Jemma and Nash both had to decide how to respond to the things they were faced with. But I think the ultimate point here is that when it's right it's right. It doesn't matter if its 2 weeks or 5 years. Their relationship reminded me that my time will come there will just be a few bumps in the road. So I have to decide how I am going to respond to them.
This book was such a joy to read! Funny, cute, steamy, and just all-around a great read!
I totally loved this book! The banter, the slow-burn, the overall fun plot, everything was so good ❤️
This is a insta-attraction, slow-burn book, with elements of enemies to lovers. One MC is trying to come back from burn-out and lack of inspiration, and the other MC is learning about self-worth whilst also battling past trauma - both these arcs were executed really well.
The book was a bright and fun, and reading it definitely made my day. The final 25% of the book was a little more angsty than the first 75%, which did leave me feeling more emotional than I expected to, at the end. But then, this is just a note about the book - I really loved it throughout.
TW - repeated sexual assaults (flashback) and subsequent PTSD (present)
And finally.. some of the elements in the book got me thinking that the author was so cool!
Like there's this paragraph where she mentions Jameela Jamil, and her work on transparency behind celeb photos/videos.. I was so excited on reading that line! And then, using Taylor Swift's song(s) in a relevant situation 🙃 SO cool! There were many cool additions like this throughout, they made my reading experience more enjoyable ❤️
If I could give this book more stars I would! It was brilliant! Truly brilliant.
It was my first book by Erin Thomson and I will definitely be looking at her others as she’s extremely talented. She makes you feel so deeply! I cried so many times. My heart broke, but she fixed it for me ♥️
Jemma.. oh this poor girl. She had been through so much, been so appallingly treated that she didn’t trust others or herself. All she wanted was a good career and to be happy. I loved who she was with Nash, a stronger, more confident Jemma, I liked that a lot.♥️
Nash… 🔥🔥🔥 This guy went on to my book boyfriend list after about 20 minutes of reading! He is HOT! He had been through something just before meeting Jemma and knew he couldn’t get involved, it wasn’t fair on either of them. He needed to work on himself. I just love him!♥️
There are a lot of extremely steamy scenes in this book. Their chemistry was electric! They couldn’t keep their hands off of each other.🔥🔥🔥
I loved this book, I laughed so much! I cried (lots!), got hot under the collar, got mad and laughed some more. It’s everything a good book should be and what makes you read it time and time again.♥️
This book is exactly what I needed to get me out of my recent funk! A deliciously layered romance that satisfied all my senses.
•Open door romance •Stangers to coworkers (kinda) to lovers •Steamy one-night stand. •Sexual chemistry off the charts! •Forced proximity (working together) •Relatable emotional struggles •Food so good I could taste it.
Erin's writing is phenomenal. Her characters are so well rounded and the authentic internal dialogue only elevates this. The sexual tension and undeniable chemistry between Jemma and Nash are palpable and the friendships they have with their respective trios are ones you just want to hold into.
I also really liked that the third act misunderstanding wasn't something trivial. Erin also approaches hard subjects like emotional and sexual abuse, rape, abortion and cheating with careful and conscious sensitivity.
The Wedding Planners is available on Kindle Unlimited and I highly recommend you give this one a read. I am currently reading the next in the series, focusing on side characters Mack & Chase (🥵) which is out on Friday!
This book was really cute! Explosive spice right off the bat, where our characters meet at a bar and leave for a non-negotiable one night stand… until Jemma wakes up the next morning wishing she had the name of the man who gave her two rounds of back-to-back sex, four orgasms on the first round itself. 😅
I think these characters were really great for each other. They both had some personal hurdles they needed to overcome which seemed realistic, relatable, and even heartbreaking. The humor was constant and kept the story playful and light for the rest of the book.
I was a liiiiittle bit over all of the pining, like just stop fighting the attraction and GO FOR IT. 😂 the book could’ve probably been a tad shorter without some of that repetitiveness. I was also a little surprised that the rest of the spice fell a little flat after that first encounter. I guess I expected a little more to come instead of the hottest scene within the first 30 pages.
I would still really recommend this book for romance readers! It was fun and sexy, and wrapped up beautifully in the epilogue. ❤️
This was such a fun read. I was laughing, swooning and also there were some tears.
My heart breaks for Jemma for her past and also what those girls did to her career. She gave all her heart 110% of time. You can see how much Jemma loves what she does, and enjoying the new responsibilities (even though it is a little stressful).
I enjoyed listening to Nash's inner thoughts. They were so great. He cares even though he didn't always show Jemma. But it was also great to see how he viewed marriage and weddings. Nash was so Once we got passed that, he became so sweet and everything he did to make up for his behavior.
The chemistry that Jemma and Nash have was on fire, both in bedroom and just all the banter. Love it all.
I enjoyed the other side characters. They all brought something more into this book. The unhinged thoughts of Harley. The found family in this stories was awesome, they were so helpful to Jemma and Nash.
I loved the dual narration. Aria did an amazing job as Jemma and her voice range in the other characters is so wonderful. Loved Edward’s voice as Nash. Aria and Edward helped bring Erin’s characters alive.
