Carry Your Own Backpack is a self-help guide to emotional well-being from award-winning mental health coach and psychotherapist Holly A. Schneider.
Based on two simple principles—what you pay attention to grows, and what you carry builds strength—this powerful book will help you choose what to carry and what to let go to lighten your journey through this world.
By defining your healthy emotional boundaries, you’ll learn the difference between what belongs to you, what belongs to others, and what belongs to God. Better yet, you’ll learn how to apply those boundaries, even under the most difficult circumstances, to protect your own mental health.
Throughout these pages, Holly A. Schneider bravely unpacks the experiences of her past, showing you how to unpack your backpack to become the best version of yourself. As you apply these emotional, cognitive, and behavioral skills in every aspect of your life, step by beautiful step, your heart will lighten in a way you never thought possible.
If you don't think you need help, this book is still for you.
Honestly, I wish I could've read this book decades ago. This isn't a self help book that just lectures the reader on how they should emulate the author's perfect life. Instead, this author takes you on a very personal journey into her own life that has not always been filled with roses and strawberries.
The author's writing style is super easy to read and it is full of practical techniques to reduce stress and anxiety in everyday life. This one goes on my list as a perfect gift for family and friends!
Love this book! The author provides simple tools and techniques to help recognize what belongs in your backpack and what does not; that is, what is worthy of your time and attention and what is not. The analogies used are relatable and provide an easy way to keep the ideas front and center as you go about your daily life in this fast paced world. A must read for everyone who wants to better themselves spiritually, emotionally and professionally.
Carry Your Own Backpack is a page-turner! Holly weaves her personal story throughout, keeping high reader interest as she gives the whys and hows of boundaries with relationships. If you need to stick up for yourself, or know someone who does, buy this book. Scriptural inspiration is included throughout--the source of lasting hope.
Simply put, this book moved me. I recommend it to anyone who struggles with residual trauma and/or relationship issues.
This book is a guide, a resource, a text. It is personal and practical at the same time.
I read it in one night. I refer to it often.
I have bought three copies and gifted them. I will certainly buy more. That's how much I appreciate Holly's experience and guidance in navigating life and relationships. That's how much I value the wisdom in this book.
Buy this book and put it in your backpack!
