A historic hotel in Deadwood, South Dakota has a major problem. Brynn Sullivan gets called into help, and this time, she may get more than she bargained for.
Join Brynn and Bernie as they race to solve the case before the mysterious portent comes to pass.
If you like paranormal cozies, funny spirits, and amateur sleuths, you’ll love this delightful new series from Courtney McFarlin.
Brynn's latest ghost-assisting and design job luckily happened to be at the hotel where her cousin Logan's job had him currently working. What was appearing as a scary banshee at the hotel was one thing, but Brynn knew it had to be a flesh-and-blood killer taking out the people who'd coincidentally stayed in the room where the banshee made her appearance.
The killer caught Brynn by as much surprise as it did me! What a crazy showdown, but with some ghostly and feline help, the cavalry came when needed. I love the endings of these books and how Brynn helps out the ghost that was the focus of the book. It's very sweet and gives closure to the ghosts as well as a real sense of accomplishment to Brynn. She got to visit with her ghost friend Charles in this book too. He's such an old charmer! If he was alive and forty years younger, she'd probably be interested. But Bree was making some nice progress with Zane, so I'm eager now to move to the next book and see how that date went!
This is an interesting book in a unique series. The main character has the ability to see ghosts and is quite often called for help not just for her services as a real estate stager, but more to remove ghost or other beings that are inhabiting and haunting various locations. I really enjoyed the book and looking forward to reading the next one.

The series is fine. It's a light, quick read without much detail or complexity. I like the characters and the premise behind the plot. Overall, the main character, Brynn, is pretty quick with only occasional bouts of "why did you do that?". She does a pretty big one in this book and even fusses at herself for it. All (of course) turns out ok and the series moves on. I'll continue the series when I need a lighter read to supplement.
The main female character in this book is very much like the one in the author's Razzy Cat series. The boyfriends are also similar. Too bad the cat in this one can only talk to her in the "in between." I thought the appearance of a banshee in this one was interesting. I knew they had a loud scream, but I wasn't aware the scream was a harbinger of death.
I really enjoyed this book. There's one part where I was telling her out loud, "Don't do it." Readers will know when they come to it. Living in Sturgis, SD, I appreciate that the book's setting is Deadwood. Additionally, I have truly enjoyed every one of Courtney's books, including the Razzy series. I'm now starting book #3 in the Soul Seeker Cozy Mystery series.
Fun series about an interior designer and house stager that can see ghosts. The plot and subplots move quickly, making it hard to put the book down. The characters are well developed and the conversations flow naturally. I can’t wait for the next book!
Ghost whisperer meets talking cat meets interior designer. These are nice fun cozy mysteries with a paranormal side. I like the characters. They seem down to earth and reasonable. I love the cat in here. I wouldmlive tonf
Not at the book, but at myself for not realizing this was book 2 Now I'm confused about which book to read next. Anyways this is a good read and you will enjoy all the action.
This would be a good book for a reading group. There's a lot of discussion points, How would you handle the problems Brynne faces? Do you think Zane has a secret? I thoroughly enjoyed the book.
Not what I usually read, but this is a spectacular paranormal. It has a little paranormal, some mystery and some romance. A wonderful cast of characters and location.
The "I don't have my cell phone but followed a suspect into danger" trope needs to end. Points off for that. Stop making characters so stupid. It's not endearing, it's annoying. 3.5
