All I want to do is tell the most powerful vampire in history to suck it.

I thought I could trust my memories. I was wrong. A spell has made me forget who I am. But there are two things I do know: I'm the fated mate of the first and most powerful vampire, Drakon, and I'm the Daughter of the Arcane Order.

I don't know what the Arcane Order is, but it's already led to one kidnapping attempt that I barely escaped. It’s also linked to a plot to kill hundreds of werewolves. It’s up to me to save them, but I can only do it with Drakon’s help.

To make things more complicated, Drakon has only a week before he's consumed by a curse meant to entrap his soul in granite. I’m not even sure I like him, but I do feel like our souls are pulled together. He’s enraging and sexy all at the same time, and I’m as desperate to save him as I am myself.

Suck It is the second book in the Vampire Bride trilogy. If you like kickbutt heroines, powerful heroes, humor, and enemies-to-lovers, then this is the series for you.

Before becoming a writer, Linsey was an archaeologist who studied shipwrecks in all kinds of water, from the tropics to muddy rivers (and she has a distinct preference for one over the other). After a decade of tromping around in search of old bits of stuff, she settled down to start penning her own adventure novels and is freaking delighted that people seem to like them. Since life is better with a little (or a lot of) magic, she writes urban fantasy and paranormal romance.

Depth, where are youuu?

I don't think I'll be continuing this series. It's just so... shallow. Both the writing and the content. There was one decent plot twist but overall, not enough happened and nothing was expanded upon like it should have been. Plus, the ending really pissed me off. I hate when the man lies to the woman 'for her own good'. I'm so over it.

Ok

I'm not a big fan of the main characters 'fighting the pull' to each other. It gets old and I definitely hate when a an entire plot line revolves around lying to each other and with holding information. It's really a generic way to propel a story and not very interesting. I mean because everyone knows that as soon as the main characters finally talk to each other everything will be solved for the most part. It's not rocket science therefore it all seems lame and cumbersome to read. I wish the story was more focused on the evil and how to stop it instead of the 'fated mates' and how they can't be together. Funny thing is you really don't know why they can't be together other then the author needs that to propel the story forward. Like I said lame. I had higher hopes for this second book but since it seems to be a repeat of the characters pushing each other away I don't know that I care so much about what happens next. I may or may not read the next book....will depend on how long till it comes out.

Yea ha! Another fun, action packed instalment that certainly entertained me. Mac and Drakon are certainly getting much closer in this instalment and I loved the way the author set Drakon almost against his own Vampiric nature. We are treated yet again to in my opinion the best familiar yet because I love her hoity toity ways ! Plus if you ever had a hankering for some hot cowboys then this book should tickle you pink ! Yes its a cliff hanger but I've a feeling the author will be as anxious as her fans to give us answers.
This voluntary take is of an advanced copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

3.5 Stars 🌟

I started this series the other day and it happened to be right as the second book was coming out so I was able to continue on to the next book. This series is based in the same world as a couple of her other series and I had just recently finished the Wolf Queen series so the world was familiar.

For some reason, I'm just not clicking with this series like I did in the past. I'm not exactly sure what it is about it, but it doesn't really gel with me. Don't get me wrong...I don't HATE it, but I can honestly say it's not my favorite. But, because the books are extremely short and do not require a lot of time investment, I will probably continue.

I WILL say that I do not enjoy books ending in cliffhangers which seems to be the new norm in the past couple of years....ugh!

Love Guild City books

This installment of the Guild City series is so good. It keeps you intrigued and waiting for the next situation to unfold. The characters are, as always, well thought out and mysterious. You never know how they will deal with what's thrown at them but you're never disappointed. Waiting impatiently for the next one.

GOD THE TENSION. I love it! The only thing that I ask for in the next book is a little bang to go with the build up of tension.

DNF

I wanted to get all the way through this novel, but I couldn’t make it. I returned it at 75% read.

The novel is an odd, paranormal, very slow-burn romance between a male “first” vampire and an as-yet-unknown-to-me-type of female supernatural.

The Pros:
It is consistently odd.

There is a mystery/suspense element involving the main female character’s past/supernatural type/involvement with the main male character.

The Cons:
The characters feel like caricatures – two-dimensional, if that.

The humor feels juvenile to me.

There are some annoyingly repetitive phrases – especially regarding the main heroine’s familiar – a European Badger named “Genevieve.” (“I left her to it.”)

The “potion-brewer” friend of the main female character ALWAYS has something on hand that will help the protagonists.

There are technical errors that cannot be attributed to British vs. American English.

I felt as though the author didn’t do a good job of thoroughly explaining events or situations or motivations. Because of this, the narrative voice feels jerky.

The “romance” is extremely slow-burn – possibly stretching across several novels. There’s a start-and-stop to the romantic scenes that really irritates me to no end. For goodness’ sake, just get the job done – or walk away!

As I write this review, I’m beginning to wonder if the author was going for “camp” and missed the mark (by a mile)? No matter…

So, again, I’m returning this as a DNF and I’m also returning the third novel of this series without ever opening it.

I think I’ll go back to some contemporary, rom-com stuff to clear my palate…

OMG Thanks hell this one starts just where the las ended, and Drakon ? He practically accepted what was going to happen with him to save Mac…

He looks dreadful. I nodded. If you can’t fix him, you can always prop him up in your living room. He’s very handsome as a statue.

Damn Genivieve is really pratical hahaha but something more funnier than her is how Drakon find the most aleatory things preposterous, like when he just wants to be a less sociopath person to Mac seriously hahaha it’s soooo funny, sometimes he sounds like a rich old man, what if we stop to think … he is hahaha.

“Really liked this outfit, too.” The inanest desire to offer to take her out to another bar so she could wear it flashed through my mind. What the bloody hell? I’d never thought such things before. And the idea of going willingly to another establishment like this? Preposterous.

Woah Mac’s dreams are really intriguing… the one she was with Drakon in his worst moment I life … always there but not really… damn what the hell she is ??? A goddess? A fallen Angel ? OMG HAHAHAHA I can’t believe Drakon is going to ride a bull in a rodeo , damn this made my day.

My thoughts were of family and greeting a woman with a kiss. What the hell was happening to me?

Poor Drakon hahahaha

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH WHAT KIND OF PERSON MAKES THIS KIND OF CLIFFHANGER!?!?!?!?!?!? For gods sake I HAVE to sleep !!! But guess what ? Yeah I fucking can’t because damn me to the pits I HAVE to at least read the firsts chapters of the next one …

I don't like shifters in urban fantasy. Unfortunately, this book had werewolves AND they weren't even crucial to the over-arching story so why we spent an entire book on them is beyond me.

Also, I have no idea why these books are set in London because one, there's nothing British about anything or anyone and two, we never see London anyway.

As for the fated mates trope, of which I expressed my opinion in my review of the first book, we have this passage:

This had to be more than just the Bride Bond. The bond was a matter of fate saying that she was vital to my life. My partner, be it good or bad, not that she would necessarily inspire such warm feelings.

As if the author heard my complaints lol. If this is how it works, as in they don't have to fall in love or anything, then okay, I get that. But since these are romance books, of course they will fall in love. Sigh.

Vampires who are basically humans still annoy me. Like wtf?!

And the ending made me so frustrated, ugh. Can we please do away with this bullshit?

Writing was worse in this one, there were too many repetitions. Similar to the first book, energy/anger/shiver etc surged/rushed/ran etc through people, their minds, or their veins over 40 times. We have rain lashed my face and the storm lashed at me on the same page. And there were sentences like this: He still lay so still.

Good

**WARNING! Cliffhanger!**
Drakon has a week or so before he turns irrevocably to stone, and both he and Mac are searching for answers.
They know that Ludovic, the evil mage they defeated before, might have answers, but he also has plans that they need to thwart before he builds his power base again.

Beginning where book one in this series left off, that cliffhanger is quickly resolved, and our intrepid heroes start on a search for answers, which lead to them globetrotting quite significantly.
A number of secrets are revealed, while both Drakon and Mac seem to have memory issues; and there is still a lot of mystery yet to be solved.

The cliffhanger isn’t a life-or-death situation as such, but rather more of a huge unresolved issue that still needs to be dealt with. Fans of the author will be used to these though, and should be ready for it!

An enjoyable, if somewhat intriguing addition to this series, leaving us with so many questions… everyone is still a huge mystery, and I can only hope all those questions will be answered soon!

Recommended for Linsey Hall fans, and fans of epic Urban Fantasy series.

Yet another great book by Linsey Hall! Her stories are always so fun to read, and I love to see how the characters develop as the books progress. They may be on the shorter side, but boy does Linsey Hall make every page count.

Suck It begins right after Bite Me ends, with Drakon and Mac fighting their ever-growing attraction to each other in favor of trying to break Drakon's curse, and ultimately saving a lot of people along the way. Even though this book was not as architecturally heavy as her other books, I like that it instead focuses on the characters themselves, and them growing as people. Also, if anyone has read Veronica Douglas's recent book, you might catch a cameo in Suck It ;)

Something I enjoyed about this book was the tension between Drakon and Mac. Linsey Hall is one of the queen's of slow-burn romance!

While I am a bit saddened by the fact that there is only one book left in the Shadow Guild: Vampire Bride series, I am anxiously awaiting it just like every book Linsey Hall writes.

I need more!

Please tell me this isnt the last book? So many unanswered questions. Linsey you've left this one on a life gripping hanger!! I'm at the edge of my seat the entire time reading this story. I have only just started reading paranormal romantic story's recently the last couple of years but out of all of them this is my favorite!! For some odd reason it seems so real. As though if you would think of the first vampire, that of course someone as old as him would be his life force and his family. Life is all about balance and randomnes. Without evil there would be no good. Without dark, no light. Without death, no life. So of course even one made entirely of darkness such as Drako would have his counterpart of light such as Mac. Oh, I believe I might just figured out what Mac truly is!! Oh, it's perfect!! Now hurry and fill in the rest of the details for us please!! My imagination can only go so far, to be honest and I'll need you to turn it into a story. Thank you!!

Drakon and Mac might have cost the secret society a $#!tl@ad of trapped Duracell soul batteries in Bite Me, but their leader, Ludovic, is by no means walking away quietly! In Linsey Hall's second Vampire Bride installment, Suck It, our leading lady and man have their hands full trying to find a cure to Drakon's curse, figure out what being the Daughter of the Arcane Society means for Mac, stop Ludo the Lunatic's grab-n-dash of some Texan wolves, and if this wasn't enough, they both are losing the amore battle, which we all know is a really, really, really bad idea and yet we so, so, so want it to happen! Linsey Hall, as usual, grips her readers' beating hearts and squeezes mercilessly... and we love it❣

*Note - I've noticed several reviewers that don't like Mac's story as well as some of her Shadow gal pals' previous ones - and I'm totally down for freedom of speech, but... They. Are. Wrong.😁

Surprising, but just as much fun as always

Linsey Hall writes such fun it’s almost impossible not to smile just thinking about her stories. Truth.

Granted, each volume and each trilogy as a whole are quite formulaic, there aren’t any great surprises in the overall story arc or arcs, but she’s a good enough story teller that a) despite the “formula,” she always manages to catch the reader off-guard in one way or another and b) even the highly predictable parts are still a joy to read.

This second book ends in such an unexpected manner, it left me with jaw literally hanging open as I flipped back and forth absolutely CERTAIN that that just couldn’t be the conclusion. It was. And I swear I can hear Linsey laughing her butt off as she wrote this knowing exactly what her reader’s reactions would be. Well all I can say is “Well done!”

Do yourself a favor, pick this series up and ENJOY!

OK, The author really hit her stride with this one, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. No spoilers, but Mac, Drakon, and Mac's Shadow Guild friends are racing against time and are limited by a lack of concrete information but are trying to prevent what could be a heinous loss of life. The setting is unexpected and engaging the writing is tight and tense, and there's lots of action, along with a few surprises. It does end in a strong tease into the next book, but, like the first one 'Bite Me', the story arc for this book is handled satisfactorily.

I am disappointed that the next book isn't out yet and there is no estimated release date. Also, I really don't like the cover. Geez, who stands like that? Really? Luckily I was interested in this series or I'd have passed this one up. Yes, I do sometimes judge a book by its cover!

That Ending.....

Ugh that ending 😭 Drakon might be the first vampire and all broody McEvil but Mac is definitely softening him.
In book 2 whilst trying to stop Ludovic from replenishing the souls Mac freed they also need him for answers on how to free Drakon from his prophecy curse. Both continue to fight their feelings but as they spend more and more time together it's hard to deny that fate may have gotten it right for these two.
There were a couple twist bombs one regarding Mac's real lineage and the other at the very end of how Drakon can beat turning to stone for good.
The ending had me in my feels as Mac desperately hopes that a cure for Drakon but when he chooses to lie to her about what it is not wanting to put her in that situation it's both sweet and heartbreaking at the same time 💔
Hope to see it all work out in the next book as the series wraps up.

I was so glad to be back in this world. It’s so rich and full of characters I know and love. This second book in the series picks up where the first one left off. Drakon is a little incapacitated, but Mac figures how to temporarily fix him. Next, Mac and Drakon try to find out where Ludovic is going to strike next, but while they don’t know where, they do know that the shifters are involved. This is just like almost every book I’ve read by this author: well-written, fast paced, and fun. There were a couple secrets revealed in this one, and we get a little more closeness with the Vampire Bride and the First Vampire. Loved it. Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

Oh my word!!! What a book!

Drakon is a statue and Mac needs the witches to fix him. The best they can do is get him a week maximum or he completely loses his soul. Mac refuses to let that happen but, she must find and stop Ludovic. Secrets are revealed, things unexpected come to light. Hopefully, Mac can save Drakon and everyone else in time. She still needs to figure out what she is and what her magic is but, there may not be time.
Great second book in series. The whole gang makes appearances throughout but, the main focus is Mac trying to get everyone out of the mess Ludovic has created. I highly recommend this book and series. I can hardly wait for the next in series to be released. I beyond loved this book and series! Hopefully, the next book is out soon.

Needed More ASAP! LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!

Whew what a ride! So much happens in this book I don't even know where to start! Mac and Drakon are in a constant state of push and pull but they are there for each other no matter what! They have enough chemistry between them to explode worlds! Ludovic is at it again trying to add more supernaturals to his weird soul collection. Mac and Drakon are following all the leads they come across to try and stop him. We have action, adventure, kidnappings, bombs, magic, and major mind blowing reveals. 🤯 That ending is just kind of heartbreaking. Major cliffhanger - hangover alert! Overall I love it! I can't wait for book 3! Very highly recommend!

Not A suck it book by any means

Lindsey Hall has done it again. She knows how to get your attention and keep it. From the first Page to the last. I really enjoyed this series, so far it's one of my favorites. I love all of her Shadow Guild series. I love the characters, Mac and Drakon are fantastic. I recommend this book because, it has everything suspense ,magic, mayhem & romance and a great storyline with characters from her other series in the Shadow Guild City World Linsey has created. I hope she keeps the Shadow Guild City World around. Read this series, I think you will be a Linsey Hall fan and will especially love all the Shadow Guild City books. A great read, indeed.

“Okay, we did it, now what?”
“Now we go to the bog and get the necklace.”
“What necklace?”
“The one that will solve all of our problems, of course. Here’s the history on it…”
“Okay, great, we got the necklace, now what?”
“Well now we have to return back home so we can use the necklace to defeat the next hurdle.”
“Great, we did it. Now what?”

ad naseum.

Also, the witches are like:
“I’ve never seen a curse like this. I don’t know how to fix it, I don’t know how to reverse, i don’t know how to get rid of it. BUT I can do this one thing that I’m 100% for sure will give you a week to figure it out.”

Enjoyable

A good storyline that keeps your interest and keeps you reading the characters are all good the heroine Mac is sassy and hardheaded Drackon the first vampire is sexy in a brooding good looking way. These two are drawn to each other but fight the attraction constantly she is the only one who can save him but doesn't know it and he is now going to face a certain permanent death. She has discovered her memories are all fake that her father is her arch nemesis Music is and in a dream her true mother asks for her help. We are left with a cliff hanger and need the last book to complete their story.

Mac discovers new things about her past and reality overwhelms her but does not make her doubt what to do. The curse on Drakon shows an ugly face and has them racing against time and the solution seems far away. The evil Ludovic seems to be keeping the lead. I like how the narrations and descriptions are full of action and detailed scenes that allow me to visualize what is happening. The imagination runs. Action, adventure, suspense, shifters, witches, a smart familiar, fights, magic, mystery, romance and some passion.

Linsey Hall does not disappoint! This was a great read but does end abruptly leaving you craving the next book as soon as you finish this one. I understand there will be 4 books total so I'll be going through this same feeling at least one more time. I always tell myself to wait until I have all of the books, but I'm never able to wait. I love the Shadow Guild and the characters from all of the preceding books make an appearance in this one. There was even a scene where Drakon rode a bull that was pretty funny. Love Mac and can't wait for the next book.

I was hoping for more of Mac’s story in Suck it and we definitely got it. The book ended giving us a few bread crumbs and setting Mac up for another adventure.

There seems like so many things are in the way of Mac and Drakon having a chance to make things work, namely the two of them. It made it hard for me to root for them when they both seem to push each other away whenever the other one seems ready to make it work.

I love the world Linsey created, but something just feels like it’s missing from Mac’s story. I hope it’s back in the next book.

Superb Second Book in the Series

Linsey Hall has continued the story of Mac and Drakon and their adventures to discover Mac’s unknown past and how to cure Drakon’s curse. The story is well written with good action, intricate dialog and some hot romance between the two characters. The supporting characters add to the story. I enjoyed reading this book very much and recommend it to any of Linsey’s fans (but get the first book in the series so you will understand what happened before).

The cliff hanger!!!

So lots of magic and bloody battles, sexual tension and desire between the two main protagonists......Still loving the fact that old friends and werewolves are a huge fixture within and integral to this second book, I loved it so much I didn't bother to put it down, rather I enjoyed the journey in a world that is totally four dimensional

But the ending !!!! How could anyone be left on such a lift hanger, I have so many variables as to what happens next whizzing through my mind

Another fabulous book and lovely smooth read
