Lyla

Oh, no! No! They didn’t! I’m heartbroken when my group stumbles across a severely injured wolf on a hike. The animal is huge. The biggest male I’ve ever seen. He’s gorgeous, even though his pelt is covered in blood. When he whines, I feel it deep inside my soul. I want to help him so badly it hurts. I wonder how this happened. A specimen like him would've been tough to take down.

I’m pretty sure I can guess, since poachers have been active in this area. I can’t help but feel like this could be the heartless actions of those cruel bastards. Since we’re under strict orders not to interfere with nature, I’m forced to leave this poor wolf to his fate. I doubt he’ll make it. Not in that sorry state. Perhaps with a little TLC…

Screw it! I have to help him and so I go back, because apparently I’m an idiot. When I get fixated on something, I can’t let it go. I will save that wolf. He’ll probably repay me by eating me but it’s a risk I’m willing to take.

Colton

I’m beaten and tossed out like yesterday’s garbage. I was destined to be the alpha of my pack and now I’m nothing. Less than freaking nothing. I’m one of them, yet they treat me like an abomination. Worth less than the dirt I’m bleeding on.

They beat me, almost to the point of death. Must have been twenty to one. Torn up by the very people I considered to be family…my friends. They did this to me, all because I’m different, because I’m apparently too powerful, or will be soon. I’ve been exiled by my pack.

Then she comes along. A sweet human. She’s decided she’s going to help me…or rather, help my wolf. She’s not afraid of me but she should be. I’m a new wolf, only just turned. I don’t have much control. If the tiny human knew what I really was, she’d be terrified.

Authors note: Wild Wolf is a standalone shifter romance. It features a feisty heroine who needs to find her groove and a possessive alpha who’ll help her do it. That’s not true, it’s the other way around, she helps him. No…he helps her. Okay, maybe a little bit of both. Beware, this book contains super-hot, growly scenes and naughty language that will make you blush!

Wild Wolf🐺

Colton is about to shift for the first time when his pack realises he’s a double Alpha, which is considered an abomination and they decide to exile him and more😢 Lyla and her colleague, Matt, are guiding a group through the wild mountains when they stumble on an injured wolf…not wanting to leave the wolf, they return later where Lyla stays with Colton and discovers he’s more than just a wolf😳

I really enjoyed this story as it had a complex outline and the characters were pivotal in helping to bring the story across…which in my opinion was done brilliantly❣️ Each book in this series is a standalone so they don’t have to be read in order but might be best if you want a better explanation of the double Alphas🤩

I received an advanced copy and willingly leave my honest review❤️

B.B.Brouillard is an author I've read a couple of times in the past and this time she has paired up with Charlene Hartnady -a new author for me.
I was totally impressed with this story and highly recommend it.
As in many cases in the world of the shifter - there are those who don't understand the dynamics of the pack, nor do they understand the beauty of being able to shift from animal to human. In this case Colton is laid on by members of his pack - not a common thing and the reason is because he's a double alpha. Obviously both parents were alphas instead of the common alpha/omega bonding. He is stabbed with a silver knife, brutally beaten and left to die. Fortunately for him Lyla, a park ranger comes across him and decides against everything to care for this injured animal. The issues this brings to the fore with her work colleague Matt, his girlfriend Tiffany on top of the issues she has with her half sister Tamzin all come together to create a wonderfully addictive story. I'll definitely be begging for more from both these authors.

The author did a fabulous job of allowing the reader to see the growth of the relationship between the H and his wolf. I found that to be unusual in books with wolf shifters. This was a huge positive for me and helped the story really work. There a bit of insta-lust but it seemed to work perfectly with the magic of the wolf mate bonding especially as neither the H or h admitted this to themselves. It was fun to watch the relationship grow.

There were some pretty serious troubles they each had to get through as well and there were times I didn’t think they would resolve. only one problem area resolved a little too easily but I can’t say more than that or I would spoil it for you.

I would recommend this book - as long as you don’t mind a few fairly graphic sex scenes.

What an exciting and entertaining story! Colton is a double alpha which is a true no go in his pack. Lyla is a ranger and comes across a wounded wolf that she decides to try and help. Things get really crazy from there. Family and pack drama with poachers mixed in. Truly captivating story that I just couldn’t put down! Very well written story with amazing characters and a fantastic storyline! These authors truly outdid themselves with this one! I very highly recommend! Received arc and am voluntarily leaving an honest review

This book had my attention from the first page to the very last. I couldn't put it down and I mean that literally. I read it in one sitting!! Lyla and Colton are HOT!  This is a very very sexy story so make sure you are okay with that content. This is the 2nd book in a series but can be read as a stand alone and you will still be able to understand the storyline. Get Wild Wolf! You won't be disappointed.

Wild Wolf

Oooohhhh this one was exciting, a pack on the war path, poachers, a wicked step sister and an arrogant co-worker. There was a little bit of mystery and danger and whole lot of hotness!!!

An excellent story and i loved how the step sister was put in her place, eventually!

Book is a complete story, no cliff hanger.

I really enjoyed it and look forward to the next book in this series.

"I'm not a princess. I'm a pumpkin." Lol. This was so bad. The dialogue, at times, felt as if it were written by children. The plot was all over the place. The main characters were corny and had zero chemistry. Colton was so ridiculously unaware of most things. Like it was his first time walking the earth. 🙄 Lyla was so annoying and insecure. She's way too old to be running off to go cry because someone was disrespectful. 🙄🙄 The premise sounded good but the book was a total letdown. The first in the series was better but I will not be continuing the series.

Will them being from two different worlds tear them apart …

What an awesome tale of healing in all the meaning of the word this story is.
After the very angsty first installment, I wondered how this one would turn.
And while I am not a big fan of too full of anger tales, this one was very much different.
Colton is seen by his people as an abomination, a fear driven by the unknown, so much that instead of facing it, they prefer to erase the problem, thus killing him.
By whatever miracle, he survived, probably his very particularity is behind his resilience. He is no bad guy, just someone born different. So his main goal is so heal enough to be able to assist his family in whatever they might face because of his uniqueness.
Lyla is a tough young woman who might appear at first as rather shy, a bit a doormat but she is so much more than her demure appearance. She had to rebuilt herself after a traumatic event. But trusting is something she struggles about. Yet she is kind and caring, despite everything.
I liked she was a grown girl taking care of herself after everything she went through, but I was not fond of how she regressed to childish behavior when taunted and baited by her half sister, falling systematically into her trap, when said half-sister did not even deserve one second of attention.

In some way, both are the other’s cure, as while Colton’s wounds are physical, Lyla’s run deeper, scarred from the inside, she needs the right person to help her let go of her past hurt.

Wonderful second book in this series, captivating reading
Lyla cannot believe it when she comes across the injured wolf whilst she is out doing one of the things, she loves walking and enjoying nature, she knows that she should stay clear and be afraid however her good sense prevents her from simply walking away.
She is almost sure that he is a victim of poachers and knows that he will be dead by the morning without help, the other animals will simply finish him off and eat his remains, it is nature’s way.
She cannot help her self and has to go back and help the fallen wolf, she will do everything she can to try and help it recuperated if it is possible. He cannot believe that the tiny human female would try and help him, she offers him more kindness that those he has called family his pack that have injured him so badly and left him to die alone in the woods their Alpha.
Colton has another shock coming it would also seem that this little female is unaware that he is in fact a wolf shifter, he has already been betrayed by his own because they believe he is different from them, too powerful and so they tried to kill him and exiled him so what will this little human thing.

Read this simply wonderful story, I assure you that you will not be able to put this book down until you reach the final page, a simply amazing read.
I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.

I did NOT like it when Colton asks Lyla to screw him (to heal him) and when she says no, he asks if she knows someone else who is willing.  Yuck!  I told myself he is from a completely different culture but I still hated it.

I was disappointed Lyla was tempted by it.  She was just a hole to him.  It broke my heart how Matt, Tiffany, and her step sis treated her cruelly and it brought her self esteem so slow she decided to screw Colton.  I hated that she put up with their horrible treatment of her.  Colton's knew she was in emotional turmoil when she agreed to sex.  Later, he admitted to knowing of her distress and loneliness but screwed her -  knowing he would be leaving her anyways.  Hell, when he left Lyla after she did so much for him, he wanted  to see if he felt any connections to the wolves in his pack.  Dick!!!

When Belinda bidded on Colton for Lyla it brought tears to my eyes.  It was nice to see her mom acknowledge the step sis as a biotch.  I loved Lyla's parents but hated they didn't intervene on her step sister's cruelty sooner.

I would have given the book a higher rating but I just couldn't get past Colton's taking advantage Lyla's kind heart and loneliness.  Of course in the end he came to his senses.

It was also kind of odd how nonchalantly she talked about being raped by 2 guys.

Overall an entertaining read. Will definitely continue the series

I love this couple!

Colton is a wolf shifter. Not just any wolf shifter. He’s a double alpha. His pack knows this, and fears what it could mean for them. He’s jumped by a group of them, including the she-wolf that he thought would be his mate. He’s beaten within an inch of his life. Layla is a ranger and while out on a group hike, comes across a very injured wolf. She gets her group back to base but she can’t get the sight of that poor wolf out of her mind. She has to go back to help him. She has no idea what she’s in for.

I swear, Colton is my kind of man. He says few words, but when he does speak, they’re meaningful. I fell in love with his character right away. Our heroine, Layla, is a good female lead as well. Stronger than she knows, she is a good match for him. Her sister though, hooo boy . . . What a bitch. She’s a great character that you love to hate.

This is a light, quick, romantic read. Just the way I like. While it has the same type of wolf, a double alpha, as the first book in the series, that is all they have in common. They are both truly standalone books. But I do recommend it if you like your paranormal romance books more on the lighter side.

Good story for Colton and Lyla

I read book 3 first and that story is organized and written better in the Dow of the story. But this story is still good and I enjoyed the characters and plot. However as I read I felt like a few things, more history of both lead characters, should have been revealed earlier in the storyline. Right after the climax of the story, it was just like the authors just added some of the things-events that should have been added in earlier in the story. As the reader, we knew nothing of the wolf pack. Especially with this particular story since it started with Coltan, Luna, and Nikan in a pack disagreement and betrayal. As I mentioned, we barely understand this issue about Colton’s power and why does the head of the pack want to kill Colton? A second faulty writing issue is that Colton is shown as being ignorant to human lifestyle when Lyla first meets him. However when they attend the outdoor festival Colton can drive a vehicle, knows about money, how to go buy drinks and food. You suspend reality and keep reading but I still question why was that necessary. Read On!

Must Read

Lyla and Colton is a must read. I read the book prior which lead me to their story, which is also a standalone read. I thought at first it started off slow but it really didn’t just me distracted when i first began to read it. Once i bulked down and read this book I couldn’t put it down. The love scenes were steamy, the plot was really interesting and made you want to know exactly how this was going to work out and their favor. I like that there was real family issues not just ones focused on the pack life, but in Lyla’s life as well.

Colton was a strong lead but he also was unsure and made it known he was just trying to figure life out to his best ability and not hurt other while doing it. I loved that Lyla wasn’t a push over and was able to defend herself. I really enjoyed this book and things didn’t all go as planned. So basically a plot twist. Can’t wait to read the next book.

Content Warnings
Moderate: Sexual content
Minor: Body shaming, Bullying, Rape

This book was funny, frustrating, spicy and satisfying. Lyla has issues from her past and a step sister who pokes and needles those issues and is a witch. Her parents honestly kind of suck. Colton seems to have been raised in a cave. Very out of touch with the human world he finds himself in and his lack of understanding is hilarious. However, his ability to understand Lyla and her issues, without knowing exactly what they are but picking up on what makes her uncomfortable and wanting to prevent her from being uncomfortable and protect her is heart warming. His naiteve about his pack is a little frustrating. The secondary storyline about the poachers has a satisfying ending as does the step sister finally get out in her place. The spice in this one I would put at a 2/5. There is spice and again it isn't over done but not as spicy as the previous book (for me at least).

Disappointing

I really like Charlene's books, so I feel a little bad writing this review.
But this story was really not great. The h had a really traumatic incident when she was 18yrs. At the end of the book she explains what happened. She gets a hug and then everything is fine?! That kind of trauma you don't get over after bottling it up for 7yrs. Also not sure what value putting her through this had on the storyline. It didn't add anything to the story, just left me thinking WTF? Then having the H "explain" to the h half sister makes her be a better person?!
Then there's the parents who are so spineless.

The story really lacked any substance.
Really disappointing.
I think they tried for a dark romance and came off with a not properly thought out storyline for the characters. And the main characters themselves lacked any sort of personality or character.

Lala and colton

Book two is independent from book one (no characters from first book and in a different town) but the same kind of story set up the same no packs like double alphas in there pack as soon as Colton shifts the pack turns on him.not really sure what happens to his parents we are lead to believe they are in lock up along with his brother.she has a sad past and hated Tammy the jealous cow.I liked the talk about broken flowers blooming again.it's sweet.
My only problem was After.....when did he return to the pack?there was a 3 weeks later then a six months.but you would of thought pack would of showed up in them three weeks or his family looking for him?

The first shift should be a joyous moment for every wolf, but for Colton it will be the day his pack kills him.
When Lyla finds a badly wounded wolf, instead of putting him down like she should be doing to end his suffering, she nurses him back to health …. then the wolf shifts right in front of her…
Second book of a new series in the paranormal world of Charlene Hartnady ( co-writing with BE Brouillard) this has everything that made me fall in love with her previous work!

double alpha rescued by a ranger

Great story. The tale of a prophecy causes a pack to forsake their own and attempt to kill him. His wolf sense his salvation close to humans and is found and doctored by a ranger. The story heats up, provides some intrigue, and suspense. I did not want to put this one down until I completed. The heroine does have a history that will surprise you, maybe. I am looking forward to the next book.

Trail hike in the mountains to find love!

Amazing read. Standalone romance with a HEA. Lyla was on a trail hike with a group and happen across a wounded wolf. Normally they would have put it down but she had a gut feeling it would be ok. Colton's wolf is gravely injured from his pack find Lyla's group. They shelter in a cave for the night and that is when things start to get interesting. A must read you won't be disappointed!!

When Lyla finds a hurt Wolf in a cave she didn't expect her life to change as it does..

It was a good book. It was nice that you didn't have to read the first book in the series to understand this book. It is also nice to just have a good quick read without having wait for the next books to come out to find out the ending.

good

The story could stand alone. None of the same characters are in book 2. It’s got a similar story line though. If you were looking for familiarity, you will be disappointed.

It is full of action and adventure. Lots of danger around every corner.

Colton & Lyla

It was a decent story. Worth the read, but did have parts that just dragged on a bit long. I tire of the female characters having so many doubts about themselves. I know it’s apart of the author’s formula, but it is getting old
