Cross Country Hearts
June's sister, April, is getting married. The lucky guy? A businessman whose cousin is Jasper King, the art maniac loner of her high school.
The hate between them is mutual, but they can't avoid one another before the wedding. That becomes impossible when the two are thrown together into a car and forced to drive down the East Coast from Boston to Jacksonville for the wedding.
The two embark on an unlikely truce and road trip, which brings them from art museums in New York to Hersheypark in Pennsylvania, and down to the Coca-Cola Museum in Atlanta. Cross Country Hearts is a YA romance. A clean romance. The background front of the story is enemy turned into so much more. But the intimate part is only kissing.
Miss August discussed a lot of issue here. Bully, friendship, courage and family. I surprisingly like this book very much. The writing is easy to follow and the topic is realtable.
Overall a good read.

Thank you to Suzanne August for sending me an ARC copy of her book “Cross Country Hearts” in an exchange for an honest review.
This book follows June, a stubborn soceer player, and an equally stubborn artist named Jasper, who happen to hate eachother. However, June’s sister April is marrying Jasper’s cousin, so the two embark on an impromtu roadtrip from Boston in order to get to the wedding in time in Florida. With every sight June and Jasper visit, the tension between the then softens into something else.
I was excited to read this book because it felt like a combo between two other books I have read recently: “Conventionally Yours” by Annabeth Albert, an enemies-to-lovers roadtrip, and “The Unhoneymooners” by Christina Lauren, simply because of the wedding and cool older sister aspect. Unlike those two books, this was a YA story, which was a really fun one to read! I absolutely could not put this book down and it was a very fast moving, yet action-packed story. I appreciate this enemies-to-lovers story not being one where there is only a hatred based off of the guy being misogynistic as that is a frustrating trope to have to read. I also loved reading about Jasper’s friends and June’s friend, Georgia. Overall, I enjoyed this book and it was a good story.

CROSS-COUNTRY HEARTS is an enemies-to-lovers romance. Suzanne August takes the reader on a trip down the east coast with unexpected turns.
June is elated when her mother leaves her at home for a week and then trusts her to drive down the east coast to attend her sister, April’s wedding. However, she is horrified when she is told to bring Jasper King with her. Jasper has painted unsightly pictures of June and her friend, Melanie, and unmercifully posted them on social media. June is convinced that her time with Jasper will be painful, but after he talks her into an extended road trip, she begins to see him in a different light.
I was given a copy of the story for my honest review.
I liked the story. There are a lot of "feel good" moments on the trip. Both characters were multi-sided, and I appreciated that one person was not completely flawless while the other was a complete jerk. I also enjoyed watching June mature during the story.

It was a sweet and quick read. A road trip with two enemies..we all know how that usually ends. The romance was subtle and a minor part of the big picture. The bigger story was why Jasper and June had this tension between them and how June was internally struggling with her own insecurities.
A little sad and a little sweet, it was the perfect formula for a last summer read.

June’s sister April is getting married. June is afraid to fly which means she has to drive from Boston to Florida. The groom’s cousin Jasper needs a ride to the wedding as well, so it’s arranged that he will ride with June. There is just one slight problem. They both attend the same school and even though they have never spoke to each other, they hate each other. Throughout their adventures on this road trip, their hatred for each other starts to fade and other feelings begin to appear.
I really enjoyed this enemies to lovers story. Sometimes it was frustrating the decisions the characters made but then you remember they are 18 year old high-school students so of course they aren’t going to always make the right decisions. However, I loved how the characters grow through their experiences and their journey of self discovery.

An adorable YA novel that I would recommend to any teenage readers, boys and girls.
It:
* teaches and makes us smile
* shows that judging people doesn't work in our favour
* addresses school bullying
* makes us reevaluate our school friendships - are really best of friends with someone or are being manipulated by people with stronger personality?
* has likable characters
* shows that it's never too late to make good changes and start making good decisions.

Having two enemies in the same car is a recipe for disaster. But I'm sure you'll enjoy Crossing Countries with June and Jasper in this enemies to lovers novel.
It's made clear right at the beginning that June hates the hell out of Jasper. The reason? Let's just say it's a school thing and June isn't the usual goody-too-shoes MC. While I didn't like June as a character, because she's mean and whiny, I'm impressed that over the course of the book we witnessed her changed, (and keeps trying to). Jasper on the other hand was quite an impressive softie with a dash of the usual teenage angst.
When April (June's sis) gets married to Carlisle (Jasper's cousin), the two embarks on an unexpected journey. Despite "hating" each other June and Jasper found a way to get along (basically because they have to), and eventually resolved their misunderstanding which came from very poor judgement. I like that both acknowledged the wrongs they did to one another and that they make up for it.
The places they visited, how they got there, and historical facts mentioned were entertaining. The banters fun and relatable. Side characters are wholesome people that I totally would want to hang out with, especially Jasper's gang. Overall the reading experience was good. It'll be quite cool to read this while on your a road trip of your own.
I'm ending this review with my takeaway: we always have to remember, that there's more to people than meets the eye, no matter if it's good or bad.

From the get go I was intrigued because it was an enemies to lover story which I love yet not like ones I usually read. I usually read fantasy romance where the enemies to lovers are mortal enemies and the weight of the worlds rested on their shoulders but I suppose that’s what it’s like being a teenager in high school just in a different way
It was a fast paced story where the characters were so refreshingly honest with one another especially when it came to their faults and as much as it was about their journey together I loved the self discovery that they found within themins!
I think the highlight for me was the adventure June had with Jasper and his friends and it showed her what true friends were.
I also really liked that the chapters are titled after a sentence in that passage it was an enticing way to start the chapter.
I would have liked to have seen more of June and April’s relationship and also the relationship with their mother so we could understand June better and also the reasoning behind melanies attitude and bullying but I suppose that wasn’t integral to the story that was maybe my own curiosity.
Overall I recommend this book for fans of a contemporary romance with an enemies to lover trope with a brooding boy and a girl he not so easily charmed.

The summer before her senior year of high school, eighteen-year-old June is driving from Boston to Jacksonville for her sister's wedding. At the last minute, her mom calls to tell her she has to take the groom's cousin, Jasper, along for the drive. Though the two of them have never actually spoken, June and Jasper have tormented each other throughout high school. Her best friend hates him for reasons June doesn't really understand. Will they make it through the road trip without killing each other?
I had to keep reminding myself that these characters were teenagers, because I pretty much wanted to strangle them throughout the whole book. It's not that they're bad people—it's that they continually make bad decisions. Which, of course they do, because they're eighteen and on their own for the first time. In addition to the conflict between the characters, there's also a lot of tension about whether they'll actually make it to Florida in time for the wedding because they spend more time sightseeing than driving. But this is primarily a relationship book, and the way these two grow and learn about themselves and each other is lovely.

I soon became interested in the book for being enemies to lovers. And It's also slow-burn.
This book may seem "only" a romance book but discusses several important issues such as bullying.
What caugh my attention was that the bully was the female protagonist June and not the male protagonist Jasper.
Noteworthy is June's relationship with her mother and her friend Melanie.
I loved the protagonists' friends Georgia, Lila, Ren and Thomas. Should have a book of them.

There are many problems with this scenario, mostly the fact that June and Jasper completely hate each other, and have spent the last 3 years of high school together as bully and victim. But we all know how this is going to eventually end, and I was totally here for it!
I will say that at the beginning of the story I could not stand the character June, and she often came off selfish and whiny. But I do love how her character developed, and how Jasper was able to help her realize some things about herself and her friendships. I enjoyed following along as Jasper and June each learned more about the other, and the fun they had along the way encouraging each other to go outside their comfort zones. I think the romance portion was actually minimal, and the book was more about friendships and forgiveness than anything else.
I'd give this an easy 4/5 stars.

What a cute enemies to more YA story!

While they were both dreading the trip, things start to change as they are forced to talk for the first time ever. And they quickly realize that they might not actually mind each other's company.
This story was really cute and fun! I think the conflicts and challenges they faced were very suitable for being 17/18 years old. It was really interesting to watch June essentially grow up during the trip and how she handled the aftermath. She knew she needed to make big changes. But she was determined.
And of course her & Jasper were just the cutest 😊
I think every girl should read this story because it really does have a great lesson💞 or even if you need a quick fun uplifting read, this one's for you!

June and Jasper’s story takes place on a road trip from Boston to Florida and boy was it an awfully long road trip. I know this in a YA novel, but there is an overwhelming amount of fighting and bullying in my opinion – typical teenage behaviors, I suppose. It does make you want to think back on your life wondering how you’ve treated people in the past or if you could make a change in how your conduct yourself now.
I expected them to be a little more mature at their age.
I did enjoy reading about their stops along the way. I just wish they didn’t fight at every turn, but I suppose the ending wouldn’t have been as good as it was if they got along well the entire way.
I am a reader of both enemies to lovers and young adult, but these two tropes combined maybe just are not for me.

As if the car trip to her sister's wedding wasn't going to be stressful enough, she is going to have to put up with Jasper, a guy she doesn't like sharing the car. June wasn't that confident with her driving skills, and Jasper is going to there to see it. Will they survive the trip without killing one another? With plenty of capers bound to happen, will June and Jasper find some common ground? June is likable, but some things she has done in her past can make her a little less likable. Jasper is easy to like, and he has had a hard time with things that have happened to him in life.

This book was a cute romcom that followed two high school students who are sworn enemies, who end up having to road trip across the east coast to get to June’s sisters wedding. June’s sister is marrying Carlisle, the cousin of June’s sworn enemy, Jasper.
This was a cutesy story. The characters were fun, and the story was light. If I had read this in high school it would have most likely been a favorite! At this stage, it did feel young, and some of the situations that arise throughout the story are cliche, which was purposeful- but at times fell a flat.
Overall, a fun story, I’m glad to have read it!

Sweet YA roadtrip novel
I loved this heartfelt and emotional story about June and Jasper who never used to get along but have to go on a roadtrip together to get to a wedding. On the way they learn a lot about each other and themselves. June has a tense relationship with her mother and a friend, Melanie, and needs to apologize to Jasper for bullying him. This has lots of emotion and is well written and edited. Steam level: kissing. A minor continuity issue, one character is mentioned three times and her name is spelled differently each time (Nevaeh, Navaeh, Naveah).

Thank you StoryOrigin and Suzanne August for my free review copy of Cross Country Hearts. It was an enjoyable read done in one sitting. I enjoyed the development of June and Jasper's relationship. Their cross country journey that became a self-discovery journey was poignant and entertaining. I would have liked to have learned more about Jasper's point of view
I'm hoping Ms. August is planning to continue with their story, or planning to weave Georgia, Melanie's, Ren's, Thomas' or Lila's journeys into future novels. I'm looking forward to more from Suzanne August.

High school nemeses find themselves thrown together on a road trip from Boston to Jacksonville, Florida for a family wedding. June’s sister is marrying the cousin of her high school enemy, Jasper. For some reason they were encouraged to spend days driving together to the wedding. The storyline moved at a good pace to keep things entertaining and the shenanigans between June and Jasper is just too amusing to miss out on.

June and Jasper are thrown together into a car and forced to drive down the East Coast from Boston to Jacksonville for the wedding. They have to deal with each other for the long haul . Will Sparks fly between these two well time will tell .

This June and Jasper's enemies to lovers storyline. When June is about take a road trip to her sisters wedding It is great, except when she is told to bring Jasper with her. These Two have so much tension but soon get to know each other more along the way. This has great characters and was enjoyable read.

A well written teen story of enemies to friends as they travel together to her sister and his cousin's wedding. I enjoyed reading Jasper and June's story. I have been getting out of reading young adult books lately, but I really enjoyed this one. It didn’t feel like most YA books that I’ve read. This could easily have been a story between 2 adults. I felt a little uncomfortable reading and feeling sorry for someone who bullied another person so harshly, but I loved seeing how their relationship changed and grew throughout the book.

I enjoyed this YA romance story with all of the characters. The two main characters were June and Jasper King.
June is a eighteen year old girl. Her sister is getting married and she has to drive to the wedding. But she doesn't like traveling that long without someone to keep her from having an accident because she gets distracted a lot. When her friend can't go with her. Her mother finds someone else. But when her mother tells her of who will be going with her she surprised.
Jasper King cousin is getting married. He needs a way to the wedding. He never expected that he would be traveling to the wedding with his bully from school.
This was a fun story to read. It had action, drama, and adventure within. There was quite a few laughs and giggling throughout.

This is the 1st book I've read written by Suzanne August; I can’t wait to read more of her books.

Great enemies to friends book
I enjoyed reading this book. I am looking forward to discussing this book at my book club later this
month. Besides being an enemies to friends book this is also a coming of age book. June goes from blaming everyone to seeing her part in her broken relationships with her mother.

Cross Country Hearts is a story about teenagers and their experimentation on relationships. It explores romance, describes bullying and its consequences in full, and portrays the difficulties young adults face in trying to do what is expected of them by their peers, their parents, and their friends. The story has a good plot, is entertaining, and well-written.
