A great read. It gives a lot of information on communication. How to identify your problem areas and exercises to rectify the problems. It teaches you about communication with friends, co workers, business relations and relationships. It gives references to other books if you want to read further on a topic. I have read several books on communication and I still learned a lot. There were many wise sayings. A recommended read
One of the best books about effective communication. Academic and very emotional at the same time. In fact, there are much more than 365 life-changing thoughts on communication skills, social intelligence, charisma, success, and happiness one can wisely learn about and employ in practical activities. I greatly enjoy and successfully use it in teaching master's degree students at one of the most famous universities in Russia. The book gives a lot of precious information on the peculiarities of intercultural communication. It helps the curious readers to identify existing and emerging problem areas and shares advice on resolving the problems. One can learn much about communication with family and friends, as well as at one's working place. Corporate relations, public relations, business relations, and interpersonal relationships may definitely profit using skills and approaches presented by the very well known and overly successful author of this outstanding book. Useful references to other books give a good chance to read further about the growing importance of effective communication in the age of knowledge society.
I have an entire shelf of 365 daily readers. Some cover the lives of notable historical figures, some are dedicated to a single subject such as leadership and some cover the Bible. To me, this daily reader is unique and fascinating. It is unique to me because I have no other daily reader that covers such a wide range of topics. My goodness, everything from your perception of reality, your mental filters, the language you use, and much about relationships. All of the topics just listed are relevant and important in our daily life. And I can se that considerable thought and work went into each day’s reading. These are not simply “Be nice today” readings. Additionally, each reading has a relevant exercise at the end that helps me remember something I read and apply it. If you are a person who enjoys thinking, learning and growing while you have a coffee or tea or whatever to start your day, I think you will enjoy this new book. I am excited about it and look forward to reading it daily.
Like many of his other books, Ian's books are usually easy and simple to read, follow, and understand. I haven't finished this book because I wanted to follow the content for each day and not skip ahead. By doing this, it would take a year to finish this book; but I believe it's worthwhile.
I especially liked how each day started with a quote which tied into the main content for the day. Each day doesn't require much reading and there is an exercise at the end; but it will get yourself thinking and doing in a meaningful way to become more self-aware. I like how it's structured this way so you're focused on learning a particular topic one day at a time. The more self-aware you are, the easier it is to understand yourself and others and communicate more empathetically and effectively. I can't wait to finish this book and see how I've changed. I would highly recommend this book as Ian's best book.
***I was provided a free copy of the book before release but I ended up purchasing the book. This is my honest review and the free copy did not affect any opinions expressed above.***
