If the title alone grabs you, this collection is probably something you need right now. It's so goddamn entertaining that five stars isn't enough. Perfect title to describe this late night read and journey into the gutter of hearts following the muse. The ways in which Dragos can weave tiny webs and punchy storytelling is dynamite. He usually ends the poem with the boom right as you're getting to know the characters and you think you may know how it's going to play out. But the dark poetic stories here are just rebellious, messy, and delightful enough to hit the broken-soul-funny bone-g-spot. This is a large collection and I'm only halfway through so, I will give an updated review. Highly recommended for anyone out there who is bored with poetry or with themselves, or with life. My favorites so far are: 'a basket of eviscerated snails', 'damaged rebel', 'a celestial body', 'Always dream bigger than your peers', The Underground Man' ,That's what you get for trying to cage a muse', 'dangerous activities', The matters of the living are beyond her now'.
Bogdan is a Romanian poet who appears regularly on MasticadoresIndia, MasticadoresRomania, and Gobblers & Masticadores. His poetry is dark and rich, like strong expresso, and leaves you questioning your own reality. He explores the darker side of life with characters that can only be described as eccentric, exotic, and deeply disturbing. His ability to test acceptable social boundaries and express a point of view that would shock most people, is what defines his work. In this collection, he writes about his dark muse: "After all a poet can't live without his demoness to which he sometimes refers to as muse."
I loved The Muse’s Bad Touch. Bogdan’s work is both dark and intriguing. I admire his boldness to ‘go there’ with many of his pieces, which is inspiring as a fellow writer who often censors myself.
Bogdan is excellent at reflecting deep emotions and vivid imagery through his poetry and each one was a unique thrill that really kept me hooked with the feels and oftentimes left me in deep thought. Even the poem titles told a tale in itself. I felt like a voyeur into this world of the poet and the muse, and I didn’t want it to end once I finished.
While I enjoyed this entire poetry collection, some of my favorites were:
This is a very difficult topic to discuss. This book brings awareness about bad touch, child abuse and sexual abuse.
Children fight and become friends within seconds but things take a different turn when elders fall in between them. They don't even know that child abuse is initiated by their elders.
Mentally bad thoughts come into their mind and they carry it.
At a time when values should be inculcated in children, all the bad qualities from society and their home background come in and force them to think about vulgar sex.
We read such things everyday, hear from neighbors and friends. The poet closely observes and understands such people while at work. Daydreaming and then, Maybe, writing poems about it.
