Book 2 of the series did not hold my attention as much as it's predecessor did. A couple of the mysteries were familiar to me, the flight engineer's ghost on Eastern Airline's planes and, of course, the Marie Celeste. These tales were mostly cold cases, down to earth mysteries with (probable) practical explanations. However, on this occasion the author did insert a couple of paranormal tales into the mix. Overall it was an ok read but nothing really outstanding.
Every once in a while I want to read a quick book on facts or mysteries. These books are interesting reading. Some of these things I've heard before, but Keller goes into deep detail about these mysteries...more than I've seen in other places, unless they are a in a book on the subject alone. Usually a very quick read for someone like me who reads constantly, I'm sure others would enjoy learning about happenings that have occurred that were never solved. Some of these stories are recent cases, some have long been forgotten but never solved. Still interesting....
Each of the tales told within saddens, mystifies and perplexes in turn. These real life cases are both shocking and thought provoking. Each case left me feeling so incredibly touched and horrified as the mysteries unfolded. This book....and indeed each of the next eagerly awaited series of more unsolved mysteries....will leave the reader with a lasting state of alarm and concern for the poor people involved and their families and friends, all of whom are left with a huge sense of loss, disbelief and great injustice alongside their many, many unanswered questions! Readers, I am sure that you will be as shocked and dismayed as I am after you have read these shocking cases.
Keller writes quick read TC books at a Malthusian pace and they are always satisfying. His "Murder Most Vile" series is my favorite but this new mystery set is at a close second. These chapters will keep you up at night not out of fear but because you keep turning them over and over in your mind as you consider all the possibilities. Most are obscure, I was only aware of two of the accounts, and take place during all different eras and locations throughout the world. Highly recommended.
I read book one and had misgivings with regard to the content. I expected again more esoteric stuff, like time slips and other mysteries but unfortunately most of the stories are 'cold case' files on missing persons. Some of the usual stuff like the Marie Celeste, which, I believe has been adequately explained by other researchers. I personally will not bother with the rest of the series. Not overly impressed.
Yes he has and what surprises me most is it wasn't even murderers and so forth. It was unexplained cases. Normally this is not something I get into but because of Robert Keller being the author I knew I would enjoy this book! I know I will be thinking about some of these cases quite a bit! And I hope and pray each family gets some answers....
The writer might be pleased to know that the Adelaide beach ( Australia) mystery death of a man was finally solved in 2021/22 after a local university professor established evidence that was able to locate family members still living in Australia. The case is Australia was referred to as the Somerset Man
Very intriguing cases within the pages of this book. I feel Keller has delved into the twilight zone and has taken the reader along. The saying that truth is stranger than fiction is definitely proven here.
As with the first book, this one is a mystery lovers delight. All of the enclosed stories are entertaining. The author tries to give different points of view on each case.
