Sandcastle Bay #3

Coming Home to Maple Cottage

Rate this book
This utterly addictive new novel from bestselling author Holly Martin will make you smile until your cheeks hurt, sob tears of pure joy and fall head over heels in love with a totally unforgettable romance…

Isla Rosewood is creating a new life for herself and her sweet nephew Elliot in their cosy, yellow-brick family cottage, brimming with special memories. Living in Sandcastle Bay was never part of Isla’s plan but, after her brother Matthew’s tragic accident, her whole world changed as she unexpectedly became a mother to the little boy she adores so much.

Leo Jackson was always known as Matthew’s fun-loving and wild best friend. But now Matthew is gone, it’s time to put his colourful past behind him. His role as Elliot’s godfather is the most important thing to him. And even though Leo and Isla are two very different people, they both want to give Elliot the childhood he deserves.

As the three of them enjoy time together watching fireworks, baking cakes and collecting conkers, Isla begins to see a softer side to charming Leo, with his twinkling eyes and mischievous sense of humour. And, despite herself, she begins to fall for him.

But does Leo feel the same way? Isla knows their situation is complicated but is it too complicated for true love… or will the year end with a happy new beginning for them all?

A glorious, feel-good romance that will make you want to snuggle up under a warm blanket with a hot chocolate and the one you love. If you enjoy reading Sarah Morgan, Jenny Oliver and Lucy Diamond this book is for you.

Oh my heart is so full after finishing this third installment of the Sandcastle Bay series. I am absolutely satisfied and pleased with where Isla, Leo and Elliott end up - this family made my heart melt! Best book in the series!

First of all, cover love! I adore all of Holly Martin’s cover art and this is no exception. There is something about a happy cover that makes me want to jump right in. This third book (which could also be read as a stand-alone) is the perfect icing on the cake.

Four years ago, when Isla’s brother Matthew was tragically killed in a car accident, she moved her life to Sandcastle Bay to take care of his son, Elliott. And Elliott’s godfather, Leo steps in as a father figure. This is the story of the evolution of the family’s relationship.

This was such a beautiful development of their relationship - Isla and Leo went through a lot of ups and downs in this story, I was fully immersed in everything that happened. I grew so fond of all the characters (and especially the eccentric and hilarious Aunt Agatha) and I will be sad to say goodbye to them. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: can I please live in the idyllic Sandcastle Bay?!

This is technically a romance novel but it’s also so much more! Hope, perseverance in the face of adversity, family bonds, humor, laughter and love.

Thank you to Bookouture for the invitation to be on the blog tour. This book is now available!

This is a beautiful and touching love story that will leave you with a big smile on your face!

I was so excited to once again return to Sandcastle Bay... this is the third book in this wonderful series and I’d have to say my favorite so far (I am just hoping there’s more!).... this book could absolutely be read as a standalone, however I’d strongly encourage you to read the entire series.... I think part of what made this book so special is that we have grown to love Leo, Isla, and Elliott in the past two books... there really is nothing better than coming home to characters that you know and adore!

I really love absolutely everything about this series... The setting is enchanting... i’d absolutely love to visit Sandcastle bay.... from the people, to the quaint shops, to the delightful cottages that have the most adorable of names! I mean who would not want to live in a home called Hot Chocolate Cottage or Maple Cottage? Not to mention all the village events,in this book we had an acorn hunt, acorn jewelry making, and a epic pumpkin carving contest.... The best part of all is the bonds that the people have with one another... I love the friendship between Tori, Melodie, and Isla... also love the bond between the brothers Jamie, Aidan, and Leo.... top that off with all the romance, add in crazy Aunt Agatha, and all the adorable children; with Elliot being my absolute fave! I mean seriously what’s not to love? I am SO packing my bags!

This time we get Isla and Leo story, and I’m sure just like everybody else I have been dying for this one! Leo has been proposing to Isla almost daily for the past two books... as godparents to the adorable Elliot the two of them had to step up after the death of Isla‘s brother and Leo’s best friend Mathew.... but is Leo proposing out of obligation or does he actually have feelings for Isla? Love isn’t always easy, in fact most of the time it’s quite complicated... and really these two made it even more complicated, especially Leo! So will they get their HEA? And will Elliot finally have a forever family? Well you will need to read this book to find out!

I really hope this is not the last book in the series, can I suggest a little Novello with aunt Agatha and her new boyfriend? Or grown-up Elliot falling in love??? Please don’t make me leave Sandcastle bay!

Absolutely recommend to anyone who enjoys romance, fabulous characters, autumn activities, and love!

*** many thanks to Bookouture for my copy ***

I have ambiguous feelings on this one. The writing style of Holly Martin immediately attracted me. Her language literally flows out of the page but the simple and predictable plot line was disheartening. A talented writer like her could have taken something a bit more daring.
'Coming Home to Maple Cottage' is the third novel in the Sandcastle Bay series but can be read as a standalone. I haven't read the other two in the series but was not at all troubled with the lack of background stories concerning other characters. Isla and Leo are quite a pair but more than their romantic activities what we love most is little Elliot. His presence created some of the hilarious scenes but it also brought with it the hardships concerning parenthood. I couldn't but admire the sacrifices Isla has made for her orphaned nephew and I do hope Elliot will one day be able to recognise it.
What disturbed me most was Leo Jackson. His ever present guilt feeling was a bit annoying. I do understand the situation about his father but guilt about Mathew's death? That was really going overboard. But I am not one to pass judgment since no one is perfect. They can be perfect only in novels and movies and the fantasy they provide attract multitudes like me to the world of reading. So in this perfect world, characters like Leo make a bittersweet story.
To conclude, this is not a typical winter read that will make your toes curl with happiness. It will tug at your heartstrings making you weep and laugh. And lastly, you will be a part of the life of Sandcastle Bay where friends are many and privacy is your private dream.

There is a saying "Save the best for last" and Holly Martin has done just that. A fabulous book from start to finish. A book which captured me with its words. A book where my heart overfilled with love and hope. A book which I simply adored.

I always have liked Holly Martin's books, but I always thought they were too sweet. They needed layers and the author has given me just that in spades. She has made the characters and scenes so interesting that I stayed up till 2am just to finish reading the book. And I still want more!!

Love is always memorable when it is bumpy. And these bumps just go ahead to make love that much stronger, that much exciting. And Isla and Leo's love story have the right amount of spice to make it flavorful.

The book had the usual gang of brothers and their mates, aunt Agatha and her boyfriend, all the characters including Dobby the turkey. And it also had some twists.

A book which made me laugh at places and smile at others, which made me go oooh and aah imagining the love, why would I find any niggles in it. The book is nothing but a huge heart of love. This is the first, after a long time, that I loved the book and the book loved me back totally!!

I've always loved Holly's book but this one has to be the best by fair it was simply brilliant and just couldn't put it down at all as so good. Every page brought a new twist and turn and you wanted to keep reading to see what happened. It's full of heartbreak and romance and laughter and doing what is right for you and your family. Amazingly well written and cannot praise Holly enough and would love to have a follow on to this story. The characters are amazing and the story plot is just the same.
Isla sadly had to move from London to her brothers house as he sadly passed away leaving a young son. She's not ready to be a mum but has to be for Elliot as his real mum walked out when he was a baby. She has amazing support from Leo who was her brothers friend but she can't forget that she slept with him years ago and he's always asking her to marry him but she keeps turning him down as she doesn't think he's ready. She's in the process of adopting Elliot and they can't track down the mother but she's getting more friendly with Leo as the days go by then just as they are about to declare their live a knock at the door changes everything. Sadie the mother of Elliot turns up saying she wants half the house but she's worried that she will also want Elliot. Isla really doesn't know which way to turn as it calls a stop for know for the adoption and she really doesn't want to loose Elliot. Can Leo and Isla pull together to get through this and be a family or will everything change. Poor Elliot has an accident but if changes his thoughts and he's worried about what others think of him as he was a jack the lad as a child but turned around especially with meeting Isla but can he declare his love and they be a family and be happy or not.
Simply brilliant book worth far more than five stars and can't recommend it enough.

I cannot tell you enough how excited I was to read this book. I absolutely adore Autumn and whilst we have a lot of Christmas/Winter novels, we don't have a lot of novels set in Autumn out there. So when Holly Martin (one of my fave novelists) announced her next one was set in the season, I was delighted and could not wait. The mention of the fireworks, baking cakes etc got me excited and this book certainly sets your mood!

When I started getting into the book, it was like I had never left Sandcastle Bay. I simply adore all of the characters, and I was so eager to find out more about Isla and Leo's relationship. I also loved that Elliot was a part of this story, everything is better with children! I was loving reading about the acorn hunts, the halloween decorating - everything! When I got to about 50% I wished there was more of it! I really enjoyed the fact that we heard about some of the other characters in the series as well - seeing how their relationships were getting on was lovely.

Having said this, you could easily read this story as a standalone. You don't need to have read the others to understand what's going on because it's about completely different people essentially. One thing that made me smile in this book was the names of the cottages. Hot Chocolate Cottage was my favourite but then there was also Maple Cottage and Marshmallow Cottage (Elliot's treehouse), they all sounded lovely and homely!

Overall, another fabulous novel by Holly Martin. My favourite of hers is still Christmas at Mistletoe Cove, but this is a strong contender!

This is the book that I have been waiting for, we finally get to see if Isla and Leo will get together, and if she will ever say yes to one of his repeated proposals. We also get to discover whether Isla will finally be able to adopt Elliot officially, who is a wonderful 5 year old boy.

Having read the previous too books in this series I had been eagerly awaiting the answers to all of that and to see what the outcomes would be, and felt right at home, with everything coming back to me really fast as I started to read. If you haven't read the other books set in Sandcastle Bay, then you are missing out, but equally this book will work as a standalone.

Possibly because I knew the characters so well going into this, I found myself welling up with tears towards the end, as I was so happy with the outcome, which only ever happens when I read well written books where I care about the characters.

I was enchanted by this book from the moment I started reading it, and read it in two sittings. I'm massive fan of this author, and she didn't let me down, weaving all of her humour and great romance into one fabulous story that makes for a fitting end to this series.

It was refreshing to see a book set around Autumnal activities, including acorn jewellery, pumpkin carving and fireworks.

Isla, Leo and Elliot may not be a traditional family unit but the amount of love that flows between the three of them, makes them far more solid than most, and the second anything happened that would threaten their threesome, it was interesting to see just how Leo reacted. It is clear that despite his bad boy past, that he really has changed and cares for Isla and Elliot a great deal.

A beautifully told story that I really wish didn't end, I'm already hoping that Holly Martin is hard at work on the next book, as I don't want to wait too long. If you are looking for a wonderfully romantic story, with fabulous chemistry, clear bonds of friendship and love and a fabulous cast of recurring characters, then this is the book / series for you!

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

You know how sometimes you just need to read a feel good book? Well, this is the perfect one and part of it is set in winter. Great to read at the holidays. I really liked the characters personalities. It was easy to become attached to them. It's so nice to have caring family and friends. The author made me wish I lived there!

So take a break from the holidays and spend a relaxing day at Maple Cottage. I recommend it.

* I was provided an ARC to read from the publisher and NetGalley. It was my decision to read and review this book.

An utterly gorgeous book.
This story has all you want and need in a modern romantic novel, it gets a bit steamy at times too!
A picture-perfect setting, the small English seaside town called Sandcastle Bay.
The story isn’t just about Isla and Leo, but also her friends and family, his family and some of the villagers. Aunt Agatha was making me chuckle again. Some of the things Elliot came out with made me laugh, especially in front of Aunt Agatha or one of her friends. I was definitely cringeing along with Isla. Most of the cast were in ‘The Holiday Cottage by the Sea’ and ‘The Cottage at Sunshine Beach’, which I also adored. This can easily be read as a standalone though.
I thoroughly recommend this book, a perfect light-hearted getaway.
Funny, touching, steamy. It ticks all the boxes for me.
Thanks to Holly Martin for another great book.
Escape to Sandcastle Bay in your imagination, like I did. It was nice to catch up with the area and with the people I feel like I know!
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the review copy in which I give my honest opinion.

Oh Elliot, what a boy! My poor ovaries! That boy is my favourite character for sure – his personality is like sunshine on a rainy day. I just want to cuddle him!! If you’ve read any of the books in the series, you’ll know exactly what I am talking about! I have absolutely no idea how I managed to miss the second book, but I did. However, despite only having read the first book and then the third, I was able to slot back into Sandcastle Bay as though I had been there all along. In simple terms – you CAN read the books as a standalone with no problem at all. Although if you’re the type of reader who likes getting the background information on most of the characters, you might find it easier if you did read the books in order!

‘Coming Home to Maple Cottage’ focuses on Isla’s life with her little nephew, Elliot; a little boy who lost his dad at such a young age, and his mother even younger. But, with Isla having his back and loving him like he was her own child, little Elliot’s future is looking rosy. Well, as long as people stop sticking their noses into Isla and Leo’s business that is!

Be still my beating heart!!!! What a gorgeous, gorgeous book this is! Holly Martin never fails to capture my heart with her storylines and her well-rounded, colourful and beautifully written characters. Of course not all of the characters are lovely, as just like any place, there is always at least one person who is determined to stuff things up for other people. Why couldn’t people just leave Isla and Leo alone? What exactly would they benefit from watching the little family crumble before their eyes? It wasn’t fair and actually made me quite emotional as I just wanted Elliot to be settled and happy. Surely for a little boy of his age, that isn’t too much to ask?

The humour in this book was on point, as always, and I found myself holding my belly and crossing my legs whilst I laughed. I found that the giggles were just so natural and unforced, I couldn’t help but laugh with the characters. Hell, my face certainly got some exercise as my cheeks were aching from grinning so much! Not that I’m complaining obviously!

For me, ‘Coming Home to Maple Cottage’ is everything a romantic comedy/’chick lit’ should be and more, and that is down to Holly Martin engaging with her readers and making them believe that love is in the air. Like I have said many times, I’m not really a romantic person, yet I could feel the love between two of the characters and I believed it as though it was coming from my own heart and not theirs. I could feel the tenderness between the two characters, I don’t think that anyone would be able to miss it!

I adored every single word, every single joke, every single flutter of the heart, and every single line that Elliott came out with. I just loved this book from start to finish and I have everything crossed that the author doesn’t end the series with this book as I need to find out more. What happens to Isla and Leo afterwards?

‘Coming Home to Maple Cottage’ made my heart flutter, my belly laugh, my mind dream, and my cheeks ache – all the signs of an absolutely perfect, beautifully written, tender, and utterly divine read. I could read it over and over again and not get bored – more please!!

Rezension

Buchname: Winterliebe in Sandcastle Bay
Autor: Holly Martin
Seiten: (Print)
Format: erhältlich als Ebook und Taschenbuch
Verlag: Montlake (13. Oktober 2020)
Sterne: 5

Cover:

Holly Martin … I don’t really need to say anything else. I have read the majority of her books and have yet to find one I didn’t like, that is an understatement reallly because I have adored them all.
All you need to do is put the kettle on, make a cup of tea, get cosy in the armchair with a warm cardi and slippers and then not move until you have finished reading the book, it truly is that simple to gain pure enjoyment.
Holly usually manages to have a charming couple who are trying to do the right thing in their life at any given time and she blends the lives together so they become one happy unit.
It’s the skilful writing, the deep atmospheric links to their surroundings, the visuals are extremely realistic and the reader is immediately transported to where they are so we can feel part of the family almost.
Coming Home to Maple Cottage is actually the third book in the ‘Sandcastle Bay’ series, obviously it’s best to read in order, why would you want to miss them!? But if you haven’t read them yet don’t despair Holly weaves a line through so we can pick up the connections or just read it simply as a standalone without trying to complete the series.
This time the story focuses on Isla and her cute little nephew Elliot and Leo who is actually his god-father, there is already underlying tensions from the past but can the present be any better for this little family unit? It’s up to you now to read Coming Home to Maple Cottage to find out. Your emotions will swing like a pendulum between smiles, tears and a huge lump in the throat.
An utterly magical book with a cast of fabulous characters. Holly has excelled again and I hope she is busy with her next book so we don’t have to wait too long for her distinctive writing style.
Thanks to the author and publisher for inviting me onto the blog blitz. I read and reviewed voluntarily.

Another gorgeous book that is the last in a series. I'm going to have to find some new series quickly, This one mainly follows Isla and her nephew Elliott and the will they, won't they relationship with Leo.. She took over the care of her nephew when her brother died and is keen to get the official adoption sorted. There are lots of turns in the story with Leo and you are really drawn in.

Holly's book covers are always so gorgeous and tempting. Book candy! The books are also wonderfully written - a real treat between the pages. I am always sorry to get to the end of the books!

Some four years ago during the weekend of her nephew Ethan’s christening, Isla and Leo acted on the electric attraction between them, and at the celebration Isla overheard Leo speaking to another woman and decided that she was (as she had feared) just one in a long list: the night and emotions between them ignored in favor of the ‘reputation’ that her brother’s best friend took over. Now, after Matthew’s death the year before, and Isla’s stepping up to raise and care for Ethan, the little boy is happy, healthy and just as any five year old should be – with his “Uncle Leo” spending time near every day with him, providing a ‘male influence’ that Isla thought so important to the little boy who lost so much. What she can’t reconcile, however, is her love for Leo and the fact that it scares the pants off her - since although he proposes marriage near every week, the thing she needs and wants, his declaration of love for her, never comes. Everyone in town sees just how well-matched the two are, even Leo’s brothers and sister see it , and the not -so-subtle nudges from his Aunt Agatha, it also appears that everyone thinks she’s being coy and foolish where Leo is concerned. They spend nearly every day together, Leo has redecorated a room for Ethan in his home, and made a ‘spare room’ comfortable for Isla for “sleepovers’, Ethan adores him, and Isla misses him when he’s not there. But she worries about the permanence – her last boyfriend never said I love you, and left her after two plus years, unwilling to take on the responsibility for Ethan. She won’t get caught again and end up like her mother – her father leaving the family when they were younger – leaving them to suffer the wrath of their grieving and angry mother as teens.

For his part, Leo has never believed he’s good enough for Isla to love – he’s got a serious ‘save the world’ complex – blaming himself for his father’s death when he was young led to a less-than-savory reputation and teachers and townsfolk expecting the worst from him in every situation. His non-belief in his own worthiness led to a series of one-night-stands – never lying or offering more to the woman than that night, and several overheard conversations of scoffing women downing and disparaging him in ‘save-face’ gestures that only served to reinforce his own opinions. He’d do anything (and has) for Ethan and Isla – and when Ethan’s mother reappears after a four year absence with al efforts to find her and inform her of the hearing in which her rights will be stripped and Isla will finally adopt the little boy were unsuccessful, Leo quickly steps up to protect, shelter and find options and choices for Isla in her determination to do the best for the child.

These two have been electric and so very connected from the first book in the series – despite all the grief and tumult, and even despite Isla’s stubborn determination to hold out for words and not see the multiple ways that Leo shows his devotion and love to them both, repeatedly. From his sandcastle revelation in the last book, to his willingness to step away if his reputation and presence should jeopardize Isla’s chances for adoption, to dancing around collusion with a local solicitor, his godfather, who offers to represent Ethan’s mother without actually pushing or doing much for her except convince her to sign away her rights to the child and leave, the right thing for Ethan in EVERYONE”S view, the movements, gestures and even the inordinate amount of worry that Leo brings with him, and his own failure to see that most of the ‘negatives’ are from a teenager in the throes of grief some fifteen to twenty years ago. Holly Martin has built these characters and this town with such precision and skill, introducing all of the characters that live in this seaside town and showing us their interactions and allow us into their lives. And Isla and Leo are no different – their attraction sparking between them from the beginning, with no small amount of comments from everyone. And, with Isla struggling with her own grief and pushing things aside and down to step up and care for little Ethan, sacrificing a successful career in London all to be there for the little boy, her worries that she’s not enough, and even her reluctance to lean too heavily on Leo, even when he seeks out their company – she’s the sort of person everyone would hope to have as a friend. And Leo, so perfectly patient, accommodating and changing his life and schedule to be available for Ethan and Isla at a moment’s notice – it’s no wonder Ethan sees him as much more than a ‘godfather’ and best friend of his late father- Leo has become the father figure, with all of the love, laughter and honesty one could hope for. It’s just fortunate that he and Isla finally see the light before it’s too late.

I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

Having read and loved The Holiday Cottage by the Sea #1 and The Cottage on Sunshine Beach #2, I could not wait to read Holly's newest book Coming Home to Maple Cottage #3 as I knew it would be a wonderful read and I wasn't wrong.

I loved being able to return to the Sandcastle Bay, and to meet up with previous characters Tori, Aidan, Melody, Jamie, Emily and Aunt Agath to discover how they were all getting on and what was new with each of them, but also I was excited to finally be able to read Isla & Leo's story in this book. It was also little Elliott's story too as he did have such an important part to play, he really is such an adorable little boy.

I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Isla and Leo in much more depth, although being able to experience their journey was a bit of a rollercoaster of a ride at times, the situations they had to contend with, not to mention having to deal with the past on numerous occasions. But through it all it was clear to see the chemistry and connection they had between them, but was this enough to conquer all and for them to have a happy ever after. Well that's for me to know and you to find out lol.

Oh and as much as I love Leo, there were times that I wanted to bang his head against a brick wall for some of the things he said and thought.

Everything about this book is picture perfect and so magical, it was all so well written, so very heartfelt in places, the characters are all wonderful and the setting/location of the book was faultless, so idyllic and picturesque. Just like last time, I fell in love with the location and wished that I was there experiencing it all.

There was also plenty of giggles to be had throughout reading this book, especially involving Elliott and Aunt Agatha, some of the things that came out of their mouth, just too funny for words.

For those of you that have read the previous two books, you'll understand what I mean when I say 'Oh and rest assured Aunt Agatha is still as nosy and interfering as ever, in her own loving and unique way'. If you haven't read Holly's two previous books as mentioned above, then why not, what are you waiting for.

Last words, if you haven't read any of Holly Martin's books yet, then don't delay any more, as you are missing out. Holly is an amazing author and she has such a way with words that just makes her stories truly magical and come alive.

Family is all you need. Even though they can be annoying at times, they can also give you that one little push in the right direction.

In the previous books we have seen Tori and Melody finding their way to happiness. That left us only with Isla and YESSSS, all eyes are on her this time.

Love should be beautiful, but sometimes life does not make it easy and when the past starts to interfere as well, it'll be a ballroom blitz.

I will give away some details. Hahaha, got you! Of course I will not give away any. You will have to read the book yourself to find out how the story goes. You will not regret getting immersed in this beautiful, fluently written and emotional tale. I could not rate it less than the full 5 stars.

Thank you, Holly Martin, Bookouture and Netgalley

When Isla's brother is killed in a car crash she comes back home to Sandcastle Bay to look after his young son Elliot. Leo was Matthew's best friend and so also wants to help with Elliot but Isla finds it hard to see past his old playboy reputation. As Isla starts to have real feelings by Leo she is confused by how he really feels,..... he keeps suggesting that they get married but that's just for Elliott's sake isn't it?

Another lovely book in this series and it's great to be back with all of the great characters in Sandcastle Bay, I would definitely recommend these books

Another amazing book from Holly Martin. As I've come to expect from these books, it does not disapoint: likeable characters, beautiful location and intriguing story.

Coming Home To Maple Cottage is a contemporary story set in a fictional Cornish village.

When Isla's brother died after a road accident, Isla left her London job and life to come and look after her four-year-old nephew Elliot. Now a full-time 'mum' in almost everyway, Isla is settling into her new life. Throughout the last year Matthew's best friend and Elliot's godfather Leo has been helping Isla and he has been a rock when ever she stumbled. Together they make a great team, so why won't Isla accept his proposal of marriage?

This was a lovely feel-good story about family life and loves. I understood where both Isla and Leo stood and empathised with them while they worked out what to do. Elliot was a lovely character especially with his innocent no-filter comments, which put Isla and Leo on the hot-spot on more than one occasion.

Coming Home to Maple Cottage is the 3the installment in the Sandcastle Bay Series. If you are curious about the first books be sure to check out my reviews for The Holiday Cottage by the Sea and The Cottage on Sunshine Beach.  Before diving in to this particular installment in the series I really need to point out how lovely the Sandcastle Bay series is. If you have been following my blog for quite some time now, you might know that I am a huge Holly Martin fan and that I adore almost anything she writes. But this series is quite frankly one of the greatest series overall I have read by her hand.  I really hated to say goodbye to all these lovely characters and the lovely town that is Sandcastle Bay.

Now lets dive into Coming Home to Maple Cottage. And to do that I am going to quote myself! In my review of The Holiday Cottage by the Sea I stated the following:

I was even contemplating if The Holiday Cottage by the Sea was my new favorite book by her hand, but nothing will ever chance my undying love for Libby and George. So a very close second without a doubt!

Well... this book changed my undying love for Libby and George. I definitely have a new favorite Holly Martin book in my hands. I just can't express how much I adore Coming Home to Maple Cottage. And to be honest I think that the main reason why I adore this book so much is because I am a mom. Coming Home is all about family, creating a safe environment for a child, giving it all you have to give and trying to be the best parent you can be. And considering I am a mom of two little munchkins myself I could really feel all the struggles Isla is facing and all the doubts she has about her parenting skills. I really felt for her. Because it is hard being a mom when you gave birth to a child and had time to grow together with them in the whole parenting routine. But Isla's life just changed over night and still she was this incredible mother for Elliot!

Elliot.. I have said his name... Oh Elliot... I have no idea how Holly did it, but she drew such a realistic picture of a 4 year old... I can't count the times I was reading parts out loud to my husband and both agreeing we could be reading about our own son! You will fall in love with him while reading this story. And he won't be the only one who steals your heart. I was really surprised how fast I fell for Leo. In the previous books he was my least favorite character, but I really enjoyed his story-line. He is not the sweet guy you normally meet in Holly's books. His character has more layers and feels a little darker. A real addition the the male lead, I must say!

Needless to say how much I enjoyed and even loved Coming Home to Maple Cottage. Although I am a huge fan of Holly's Christmas books I must say I loved her representation of fall and Halloween in this setting. You can almost smell the fall leaves while reading. For me Coming Home to Maple Cottage felt like drinking a pumpkin spice latte after a long walk in the fall sun.
I laughed, I cried and I laughed some more!

Coming Home To Maple Cottage is a lovely seasonal story full of romance and drama. Isla Rosewood is still getting used to being a parent to her adorable young nephew Elliot after Isla’s brother Matthew was tragically killed in an accident. Elliot’s godfather and Matthew’s best friend, Leo, is heavily involved in raising Elliot alongside Isla. There’s always been a spark between Isla and Leo after a passionate night several years before, but since then they’ve been only good friends. Their feelings for each other can no longer be hidden from each other, but things are complicated by their personalities and past events that have shaped them, as well as the arrival of Elliot’s birth mother.

I enjoyed how the book went into the inner turmoil which was affecting Isla and Leo’s relationship with each other. However, I did feel that it was a little overwritten at times and started to become a bit repetitive.

Elliot is a great, funny character and there’s an interesting cast of secondary characters. There’s plenty of cosy autumn atmosphere with family events in the picturesque seaside town.

There’s amazing romance and chemistry between Isla and Leo. The ending, which is set at Christmas, is deliciously Christmassy and feel-good.

A lovely read.

This was a book which had me shouting and washing the characters would get their act together and stop messing about.

This is the third book in this series but it also does well as a standalone.

Isla and Leo are in a difficult situation which is made even worse by the appearance of someone from the past who is out to make trouble. This part of the story turns a lighthearted read into something far more.

I read this almost in one sitting as I was so invested in the story. Another great read from the author.

Many thanks to Bookouture and Netgalley for providing a copy.

Isla and Leo shared a night of passion on the eve of her nephew’s christening. Four years later Isla is now Elliott’s guardian and Leo is taking his role of godfather seriously. Follow their romance and failed attempts at dates will they ever get together. This was such a feel good read with a few moments of sniffling and tears but really enjoyed it. Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest review.
