My family destroyed hers, but I can't let her go...

Ty

Amends...they're not mine to make, but I've been haunted by the memory of a shattered girl in that courtroom two years ago.

So, I tell myself I'm doing what's right. I’ll stay in the shadows, out of her way. She won’t know I’m there--she doesn’t even know who I am. I'm just setting it up and walking away with as clear a conscience as my guilt will allow me.

But then she needs a tutor. And I'm the only one working. How can I say no?

But one coincidental meeting turns into two, and then three. And before I can stop myself, I'm falling hard for a woman I have no business wanting. The problem is, she's falling hard for me, too.

I need to tell her who I am--I have to. But I know that the moment I do, I'll break her. And she’ll break me, too.

Uncovered is a full-length novel with a tortured hero, a broken heroine, and an HEA. It is the first STANDALONE in the Bainbridge University Series.

Trigger warning- this book deals adult themes such as hazing.

After tragedy struck Phoebe's family her life was put on hold, she is finally starting to live again by starting college. Yeah, she may be a 20 year old freshman but she is living again. But the literature class that she has to take is killing this art major. The only one who is able to help her, Ty, seems to be a super grump and doesn't like her. Ty has done all that he can to help Phoebe but he knows that he needs to stay as far away from her as possible. But fate of course has a different idea.

And just like that this author became a one-click. I am now officially obsessed. Ty's struggle was so real, I could feel it and I truly felt for him. This was one of the rare occasions that I understood why a character kept a secret. This one could truly rip them both apart. Phoebe was so incredibly strong even though she didn't feel like she was. I loved her strength and her weakness. Again, they both felt so real and not contrived. I loved both of these characters so much, like to the core. I loved watching them fall together, I loved how Ty supported Phoebe and helped her come back to life. I also really respected how the conflict played out. And don't even get me started on all the secondary characters. The friends that are their family were so amazing. I am on pins and needles to get their stories. I loved this book so flipping hard. Read it. Now.

GENRE|TROPES: NA
POV: 1st, Dual
SERIES: Bainbridge University, Book 1, Standalone
STEAM LEVEL: 🔥🔥🔥

Uncovered by Andi Burns was a beautifully tragic, emotionally draining love story about a broken girl and the enthralled boy who wants to make up for the sins of his family. My heart is tender after Ty and Phoebe’s romance.

Read the blurb, then go in blind. Like Ty, we know from the beginning what’s going to happen but it still doesn’t make the inevitable less heartbreaking.

𝐼’𝓂 𝓈𝑜 𝒻𝓊𝒸𝓀𝑒𝒹. 𝐵𝓊𝓉 𝐼 𝒸𝒶𝓃’𝓉 𝒽𝑒𝓁𝓅 𝓂𝓎𝓈𝑒𝓁𝒻. 𝒜𝓁𝓁 𝐼 𝒸𝒶𝓃 𝒹𝑜 𝒾𝓈 𝒽𝑜𝓅𝑒 𝓉𝒽𝒶𝓉 𝓌𝒽𝑒𝓃 𝓉𝒽𝒾𝓈 𝒶𝓁𝓁 𝑔𝑜𝑒𝓈 𝓈𝒾𝒹𝑒𝓌𝒶𝓎𝓈--𝒷𝑒𝒸𝒶𝓊𝓈𝑒 𝒾𝓉 𝓌𝒾𝓁𝓁--𝐼’𝓁𝓁 𝒽𝒶𝓋𝑒 𝓁𝑜𝓋𝑒𝒹 𝒽𝑒𝓇 𝓈𝑜 𝒽𝒶𝓇𝒹, 𝓈𝑜 𝒻𝒾𝑒𝓇𝒸𝑒𝓁𝓎 𝓉𝒽𝒶𝓉 𝓈𝒽𝑒 𝒻𝑜𝓇𝑔𝒾𝓋𝑒𝓈 𝓂𝑒 𝒻𝑜𝓇 𝓂𝓎 𝓊𝓃𝒻𝑜𝓇𝑔𝒾𝓋𝒶𝒷𝓁𝑒 𝓈𝒾𝓃.

But let me tell you, every second of heartbreak was worth the sweet, witty, passionate love we got to witness blossom between these two. The movie references, the literary dialogue, the amazing brotherhood between Ty, Knox, Booker, and Whit, the friendship between Phoebe, Mel, and Ian…just made this book memorable. The heartbreak was just a small moment of the story and it was the details and the road to and from that small moment that filled me with so much giddy joy.

"Everything Phoebe. Every part of me is yours"

I didn't know what to expect going into this book, what I got out of it was a sweet story about who is actually you family, and how love someone through the tough times.

Ty was initially wat you expect of you typical new adult romance hero. But Ty was sweet and self reflective in all the ways that I loved. He thinks a lot about his actions, love classic lit, and is always there to support Phoebe being her guardian angel in a way

Phoebe as a character is really strong dealing with trauma, taking care of her mother and anxitey. But throughout the book we watch her grow and develop into someone even stronger

In the end Ty and Phoebe have a very touching relationship even through some of the angst that comes their way their love shines through.

In summary this is a really good book you should 100% read it.

Thank you Candi Kane Pr and Andi Burns for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Andi's growth as a writer is clearly shown in Ty and Phoebe's story. The brotherhood of the male characters is something that I'm excited to watch play out as the series continues. There is a lot to unpack for all of the series' heroes and I'm ready to understand them all.

Andi Burns wrote a beautiful story, showing how a tragedy can bring together an unlikely relationship. Which is what we see with Phoebe and Ty, seeing as with how they’re connected you wouldn’t expect it at all.

4/4.5 ⭐️

Uncovered a Standalone in the Bainsbridge University series tells the story of Tyrus ‘Ty’ Marshalls and Phoebe Cordelia James through dual POVs.

With Ty’s family having destroyed Phoebe and her families lives through a traumatic tragedy, he can’t help but feel guilty by association. Despite not being apart of it. With this he is determined to help Phoebe without her knowing. However upon meeting her in person, he can’t seem to let her go knowing he should, since it can’t lead to anything good considering the secrets he holds.

Phoebe lost everything after a tragedy ripped her family apart.
Despite finally fulfilling her dreams with being away at college (after having sacrificed it for 2 years), Phoebe can’t help but be haunted by the tragedy that rocked her family. Always allowing it to intervene in making decisions when it comes to living the typical college life. Being at college, making friends and meeting Ty should feels like she is finally living the typical college student life. But with the past still haunting her can she truly move on? Especially the person close to her is lying and keeping secrets from her.

The pain that Phoebe and her family suffered was truly saddening, especially considering how it affected them all. My heart definitely broke for them, but mostly Phoebe though considering all that she had endured and continued to face. Making it no surprise that she was broken up on the inside. But at the same time she was still strong too, whether she believed it or knew it too. The proof being how she managed to hold her family together, taking on the responsibilities of caring and doing everything to get through the tragedy. Simultaneously sacrificing her own life in the process. Whilst this made me feel sorry for her, at the same time I couldn’t help applaud her too. The fact that she held on and kept pushing through, despite going through her pain and struggling to hold it together too. Even when away at college, the selflessness in her couldn’t help but put others ahead of her, with the constant worry of her family in the back of her head. Questioning whether what she was doing was right.

Ty was definitely not your run of a mill guy. Despite his reputation making it seem that way, he was anything but. He was more of a tortured hero with a heart of gold. The evidence being in what he did for Phoebe, even when it meant going against his family behind their back.
He was one of a kind. The fact that he willingly took on the responsibility for trying to make things right for Phoebe. Through guilt that he shouldn’t have felt since it wasn’t his fault. It surprised me to see how much he cared in making things right. Proving that there was more to him than meets the eye, considering the rumours about the type of person he was.
It showed a truly selfless side to him too, proving he was nothing like his family.
Although his feelings for Phoebe made him selfish with not telling the truth, despite their growing relationship. I understood where he was coming from. And for that I couldn’t fault him, seeing as his intentions were true.

The way that the story was written truly showcased a genuineness to it, the traumatic tragedy that is displayed throughout, seeing as it played a big part in Phoebe’s life being one. From this it made Phoebe’s character feel more authentic, considering the detail that Andi covered in showing exactly what Phoebe experienced and continued to deal with.
With Uncovered being a Slow Burn, the torturous push and pull of their blossoming relationship, that had you yearning for more with all the angst Phoebe and Ty gave off also showcased a realness to it. Seeing as they took their time in moving forward with each new step. At least in Ty's case, considering he couldn't help second guess his decisions.
With a strong narrative, that had a steady flow all through you couldn’t help but hold on in seeing where Phoebe and Ty’s journey would take you. Never wanting to let go and see it through to the very end.
On top of that the skilful way Andi gave an introduction to Ty's friends, giving glimpses into their lives without taking away from the main narrative let us know their was more to meets the eye when it came to them and their stories. Hinting to us to expect their own stories to come which will be apart of the Bainsbridge University series.

Overall, I enjoyed reading Uncovered. Andi created a truly heartfelt story with Ty and Phoebe. With this being my first read of Andi Burns, safe to say she won me over as a reader. And I can’t wait to read more from her, especially within the Bainsbridge University series.

This was the first book I have read by this author and it won't be the last! NA romance is my go-to genre and I loved falling into this new world at Bainbridge University. Ty & Phoebe's relationship has so many layers to it, and I sat on the edge of my seat for most of this book waiting for the shoe to drop. But along the way I fell not only for the highly emotional hero and heroine, but also for the guy gang who are true brothers to Ty.

Ty & Phoebe's relationship is a bit of a rocky one. There is a lot to uncover from their pasts, yet their connection is instant and I felt it grew naturally and organically despite the obstacles in front of them. The way in which Ty treats and loves Phoebe is swoon-worthy and sexy, and Phoebe's determination and sass make her such a likable heroine and perfect for Ty. The underlying themes revolving around Jane Austen were brilliantly tangled throughout their story; and the side characters were some of my favorites.

This book was suprising, emotional, witty and addictive! Well done A Burns! I can't wait to read what's next in this series!

This story is beautifully tragic and emotionally heartbreaking.

After tragedy strikes Phoebe’s family, she puts her life on hold to take care of her mother. Two years later an opportunity to restart her life and go to college lands in her lap. When a grumpy tour guide shows her around campus Phoebe isn’t so sure she’s cut out for it. But when she meets him again in the tutoring center, she can’t help but be intrigued.

Ty and Phoebe are perfect together. The sweetness and love that formed between the two of them was beautiful to see. I loved seeing the story through Ty’s POV and his anguish over his decisions regarding Phoebe.

Mal and Ian are amazing secondary characters. And I absolutely loved the brotherhood between Ty and his guys. They had each other’s backs no matter what.

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this story and I definitely recommend.

🇺🇸 The story is original and full of emotions. The main characters are Ty and Phoebe and tragedy is deeply linked in their lives.

Phoebe is amazing. She has a big heart, she’s kind and strong. Ty is a complicated guy. Driven by guilt that’s not his own, he tries to help and make amends, but he didn’t plan on getting deeply involved with Phee…

Ian and Mel are the best! They love and protect Phoebe and that’s super. And of course we have The Chapel and the 4 guys that live there. Can’t wait for the rest of their stories

Ty and Phoebe’s story starts in a very unexpected way.

Ty tries to help Phoebe get her life back on track and keep his distance from her at the same time. When you want someone you’re not supposed to, I think we all know how well that works out.

The hardships with trying not to want who you can’t have, the heartbreak, the grief, the emotional pain, the trauma, chance meetings, the amazing friendships, the true meaning of family and love in this book make such an incredible story. I was hooked from the very first page.

There’s also one part of the book that holds a very special meaning for me and to see that reflected in this book made me love it even more.

Uncovered is my first book of Andi’s and is a top read of 2021 for me! I highly recommend it!

Uncovered is the first book by this author that I have had the pleasure of reading. I loved following Ty and Phoebe's heartbreaking and healing story. The author showed how even though someone isn't related to you they can be more than family. She did this with all of Ty's 'Brothers'. The tragedy that affected Phoebe and showed her strength in trying to keep her family together. With Ty, he felt that he need to help her because what his biological family did to hers. I loved reading this story and look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

Their families are separated by grief but an undeniable attraction brings them together.

Ty is drawn to Phoebe from the moment he sees her across the room even though he knows he shouldn't be. He looks out for her from a far. However, a chance encounter changes everything. From that moment their is no denying their attraction.

The past will catch up with them and then the pieces will have to land where they may.

Uncovered is the first book in the Bainbridge University Series by Andi Burns. Although their are four books in the series, each book is a standalone novel that follows four college roommates and their love interests.

This book surprised me in a lot of way. I was expecting a lighthearted “frat bro” romance, but I got so much more than that. This novel had emotional depth. It tackled hard topics like death, mental health, tragedy, and complicated family dynamics. It’s immeasurably more than a simple romance.

My heart broke for Phoebe and Ty as they processed their shared trauma and tried to forge a way forward. Watching Ty try to make amends for a crime he didn’t commit, while Phoebe attempted to reclaim her life was both heartbreaking and hopeful.

The only thing that bothered me was the huge lie of omission. I wish Ty would have been more upfront about his connection to Phoebe from the start. I am, however, older than the characters in the novel, so my opinion may come from a place of more life experience. I can absolutely see people in college making the same choice Ty did.

In the pages, you will find:

📖 Hidden Identities
📖 Complicated family dynamics
📖 “She’s off limits”
📖 Found family
📖 Mental health representation
📖 Betrayal
📖 Forgiveness
📖 References to Jane Austen and 90’s sitcoms

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫/5

This book reminded me how much I love campus romances. I’ve been feeling nostalgic about my college days lately 🥲 also that Ty works in the tutoring center, and so did I! Never had a romance there though 😂 I really felt for Phoebe; starting college at a full 4-year is already a lot of adapting on its own, let alone with PTSD over your brother’s death. Ty really likes Phoebe but feels to guilty to actually even interact with her, as his brother is the reason her’s is dead. But fate keeps throwing them together, as she needs a tutor for her lit class and he’s the only one in the tutoring center who is actually eligible to help. Can he keep it strictly professional? (Spoiler: no 😆)

Thank you Literally Yours PR for the early copy of this re-release!

I thought I knew what I was getting when I picked this book up but holy moly was I wrong. Like, you know, going in, that this story is going to be hard and emotional. You knowwwww that. And you know, vaguely, why Ty is the way he is and why he tries to keep his distance from Phoebe. You get it, and you completely understand and you know what's inevitable, but I didn't expect to be so incredibly sucked in and moved by every page. This book is a beautiful example of the family you're born into doesn't define you and that sometimes your found family is who you truly need in your life.

I just, I really enjoyed this one. I loved Ty, I loved Phoebe, I loved their relationship, and I loved how they helped one another grow. I also really enjoyed the little glimpses into the lives and personalities of Ty's friends, because they're definitely the focal point of this overall series, but learning about them didn't take away from Ty's story (does that make sense?) and instead added to it. You learned so much about Ty through his relationship with this family he created and it was beautiful to watch. And the way his interactions with Phoebe changed the more they got to know one another was also so sweet and lovely, and Phoebe was such a deceptively strong heroine that you wanted to succeed and get better and find her way.

And don't worry, Ty was also a dirty birdie and had some of the traits of a typical NA Alpha Hero, but his layers made the story that much more enjoyable. You get steam, you get earnest characters, and you get a story that plays out in a reassuring way but without feeling like it's been done before. These characters were great, this story was great, and I can't wait to read more from Andi Burns in the future.

One look was all it took for him to want to save her, to make amends for something he didn't even do. His family broke hers in unimaginable ways, and now he feels that it is his duty to fix them. To give Phoebe the second chance she deserves, all without her knowing he is the one doing the the helping. It's a secret that must be kept, and one that can never see the light of day.

Ty tells himself that he is doing the right thing by staying away and watching over her from a distance on campus. But then once chance meeting changes everything...

Between the pages of Uncovered readers will meet a couple that by all rights should not have found one another, let alone want to be together. There is a tragedy hanging between them that could derail them at any given moment, but Ty does his best to keep it under wraps. When his family wrecked hers, it was Phoebe who paid the higher price, it altered her life in ways that she shouldn't have been able to overcome. But she is resilient, and with the help of her guardian angel, she is now getting her life back on track. But what happens when she learns the true identity of her guardian angel?

This beautifully penned story held my attention from the first page until the last. These characters came into view and I found myself completely enamored with them, I just had to know how it would all turn out for them. I loved watching Ty help heal Phoebe and help her to discover a new normal, one she didn't even know she wanted. They faced many ups and downs, but they eventually found themselves on the right track. This was such a heartwarming and emotionally charged story that hit all the right notes for me... it was a perfect first time read! Highly recommend!

I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.

Well-written starcrossed, doomed from the start love story with likeable MCs - H Ty and h Phoebe. I love them, their personalities, their slow-burn friends to lovers, and their good communication despite their backgrounds, conflicts and H's big secret; something that I understood. I just wish it was revealed earlier in the book and not rushed.
I still love him tho. H's really a sweetheart, h's personal Darcy. 😍

I would've like it more if not for some chapters that focused more on the secondary characters. That's the thing (at least for me) with 'series' books where there's a bunch of significant characters (other books' MCs). Don't get me wrong, I LOVE friends and/or family dynamics. I just get a little annoyed when H/h fade in the background to give way for the side characters.

Sheesh, talk about an emotional rollercoaster!!!.....

I'm not to sure what I can / can't say because I don't want to spoil it!
Basically Ty's family destroyed Phoebes family only she doesn't know! Then of course Love gets involved and it gets rather complicated.....

As for Ty, him and his mates are known around the grounds as the Rich Pr**ks on the hill, but to be honest they're not really pr**ks, they're just protective of each other and are most definitely lucky to have found each other because family life is just not what anyone deserves!!
And then we have Phoebe who suffered a tragedy and had to switch roles with her mum for a while when grief became to much!
But she's a kickass chick, she's got herself a scholarship and is determined to ace it!

But when secrets come to light, everything just explodes!!!!

Full of all the feels, good banter, true friendships, love and betrayal - an excellent read and I'm seriously excited to get the other guys stories!!

Ty is keeping lots of secrets, but has all the best intentions. Phoebe is traumatized by the death of her brother and is trying her best to move forward in life.

Ty and Phoebe are like magnets. Sometimes they are drawn together, and sometimes they push apart. But they just want to fit together. The push and pull between them is intense. This book is a really good slow burn with all the yummy angst.

This is a really emotional read. It touches a bit on mental health issues. I really appreciated that the issues Phoebe and her mom have are both spoken about openly. There's never any shame in them. It's very matter of fact.

Love the brotherly/motherly relationship that the boys have with each other. It's so codependent and lovely. And none of them seem bothered by it. It just is. Without question.

The ending felt a little rushed to me, and some of the dialog got a bit repetitive.
But you really could feel all of the emotions in this book. A good way to start the series.

Uncovered by Andi Burns is a heartbreaking university romance, and is book one in the Bainbridge University series.

Phoebe is struggling in the utter destruction of her small family, she makes a brave decision to attend college, while her home life is so fragile. Yet she meets and befriends some of the most amazing people. She doesn't quit when life throws her curve balls, and she buckles down and pushes threw when those curve balls turn into a rich boy, with a grumpy attitude, and all the answers she needs.
Ty has secrets. He has a horrendous biological family, thankfully she has his real family to get him by, and damn if they aren't each amazing in their own ways. Ty is a protector, he's kind and caring and a bit obsessed with someone he shouldn't be.

Ty and Pheobe are both so quirky and odd in their own amazing ways. I think their chemistry, banter and love of their family makes them wholly and wonderfully matched.

Emotional, steamy and goofy. Well worth the read.

Although there is truly no way to make amends to the tragedy that Phoebe and her family endured Ty can’t just walk away and move forward with his life all the while pretending it didn’t happen. Instead he will remain on the sidelines never truly being part of her life all the while trying to help her move forward until destiny brings them together.

Phoebe has endured a tragedy that changed her life as she pushed her dreams aside to be there for the people who needed her the most. She is trying to create a new life for herself but when destiny keeps throwing Ty into her path, he will either help her heal or the secrets he holds could destroy her.

Phoebe shows how strong and resilient she truly is both when it comes to the past and to the present while Ty has the best of intentions and everything he does comes from a good place. This is an emotional story about the power of love, friendships and new beginnings.

Uncovered is a story that really hit me hard for some reason. Phoebe is a girl who has already endured more than most girls her age, and she loves her family so much that she put college on hold for a couple of years because of a some tragedy. Ty's family is the ones responsible for Phoebe's current situation, and that's led him to watching out for her because he wants to make things right despite the fact that none of it was his fault, and his family sure wouldn't appreciate him doing so that's for sure. These two feel a strong connection to each other, but there's still the secret he's keeping that's hanging over his head, and there's a good chance that Phoebe would never forgive him no matter how many feelings are being caught. This story kept me on the edge of my seat cover to cover all the while wearing my heart on my sleeve, so I didn't move until every last word was inhaled making it super easy to HIGHLY HIGHLY HGIHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

Uncovered is the first book that I've read by Andi Burns. When I first read the blurb, I knew that this book is gonna win me over. And you know what? I stand corrected. I didn't expect this book to be so enjoyable and I just loved everything about it.

Talking about the characters, I just adore both of them. The personas that Ty and Phoebe portrayed throughout the entire story made me love and respect them. Also, I just loved the relationship between these two. We can truly see that they are truly meant for one another.

Overall, it was a great read for me and I think that Andi Burns has done a good job in delivering this story. The entire story is just greatly developed and well written. It was a total page-turner from the beginning till the end. I highly recommend for everyone to try out this book because it's worth it.

What an emotional rollercoaster ride this was. I'm gonna try and not spoil this but needless to say there's secrets, lies, family drama all over this. But what else there is is a pretty wonderful found family that I can't wait to find out more about and a beautiful romance between Ty and Phoebe. As much as Ty knows that getting involved with Phoebe is a bad idea, he can't resist. And through all the heartache and poor decisions, it's the found family and the connection between them that makes it all worth it. I don't think I could have picked a better book to start my AB journey. I volunteered to read and review an early copy of this. All opinions are my own.

I don't want to say too much about the book because it is better this way, but it is full of emotions and a wild ride.

All in all if you are looking for an emotional read that will keep your interest, I totally recommend checking out Uncovered and I give it 4 outta 5 stars!

PS: Thank you to Andi Burns and Candi Kane PR for allowing me an advanced copy of the book to read and review honestly!

I loved Ty and Phoebe so much. I also loved that in this book, the hero was the one who was the bookworm and the tutor. It's usually always the other way around.

The guys' friendship was another thing I loved. It's precious the way they're there for each other no matter what. Whit will be my favorite. I just know it.
