A Canadian police detective investigates a death by unnatural causes in this “bracingly original mystery series” from a “first-rate crime writer” (Publishers Weekly).Stinging deaths aren't uncommon in the summertime, but when Henry Wiest turns up stung to death at an Indian reservation, Detective Hazel Micallef senses not all is as it seems. And when it turns out the "bee" was a diabolical teenaged girl on a murder spree with a strange weapon, a dark and twisted crime begins to slowly emerge. The questions, contradictions, and bodies begin to mount, as two separate police forces struggle to work together to save the soul of Westmuir County.
The book had me curious to see how it ended but that's not to say I liked it. I didn't care for the extreme subject matter, when they got to the secret casino with men being douche bags with money I started to figure it was leading the sex trafficking route. If I could have known it was mainly about raping women, I wouldn't have read it in the first place. Then the way it ended? This book just pissed me off. She starts off killing a somewhat innocent man trying to help her due to paranoia to in the end killing another innocent man due to paranoia, so now she's just this victim of sexual assault that's completely lost her mind and I'm supposed to be like "That's such an epic ending"? No it's not, it's sad not even in an artistically sad way. It feels like the author just wanted to be edgy.

Kept me turning the pages!! I hate books like this; I can never get a good nights sleep because I'm reading from moment I get home from work until I have (maybe) two awful hours before I have to get up so I nap. This book kept me wondering and guessing whilst I was supposed to be working. NOW, I want more. Give us more, please Inger Ashe Wolfe, Please.
