What would you do if the love of your life forgot you… and met someone else?
I waved my husband goodbye at the airport, and he vanished without a trace. I sat awake, night after night, looking at photos of our family. I knew he would never leave us.
And then I found him.
Now he lives with the younger, beautiful woman he thinks he loves. And he doesn’t even recognise me.
Who will he choose? Can I forgive him? And will I ever be able to look into his eyes without thinking of his other woman?
From the bestselling author Louise Voss comes a heartbreakingly emotional story about family and forgiveness, that will make you cry and hold on tight to the ones you love. Perfect for fans of Nicole Trope, Kerry Fisher and The Silent Daughter.
🧱Katya the heroine/ow: uses hero to get pregnant has his baby ends up back with her husband with whom she couldn’t fall pregnant with in the first place
🧱Alanda the heroine/wife: Eventually leaves him for another woman that doesn’t last meets hero by chance at end of the book no HEA or HFN nor any plans of the future but they’re chatting
🧱Jack the hero: When Alanda leaves him, tries his luck going back to the ow: “Kat – Alanda and I split up, a few months ago. Things just weren’t the same between us and eventually she left me for someone else. So I had to see you, to see if there was any chance at all, because we don’t need to worry any more about doing the wrong thing, or hurting anybody, or getting hurt…” “Liam couldn’t stop himself reaching out and grabbing her hand. As he caressed it – oh, the feel of her skin again! It was like sinking into a warm bath”
Of course she’d moved on by then and suddenly he’s missing Alanda

Imagine your husband of 30 years wanting to go away for 3 weeks of hiking because he’s having a mid-life crisis. He decides not to go hiking and goes skiing instead without telling his family. He wakes up in a hospital with no memory and meets Katya, the other woman. This book grabbed me from the very first page and it was a quick read. It was a nice change of pace from all the psychological thrillers I’ve been reading lately. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this early release in exchange for my honest opinion.
Ok so this book was not what I was expecting. I don't usually read women's fiction unless it's an author I like who writes across genres and given that this author has co-written several thrillers with Mark Edwards, it's my fault entirely for requesting a book I assumed to be domestic thriller or suspense. However, I plunged in as the premise sounded engaging and promised an interesting story. And it was...to a point. But it lost it somewhere about 60 % through and left me feeling what was the point.
After losing his twin brother to suicide and placing his mother who is suffering dementia into a home, Liam Lodge is encouraged by his wife and children to embark on a three week break trekking the Camino de Santiago in Spain. But once he arrives in Madrid, a poster advertising skiing invites him to make a snap decision to change his plans and travel to Les Gets in France to spend a few days skiing before continuing on his planned route. He texts his wife Alandra to let her know he has arrived in Madrid but decides to say nothing of his change of plans until he arrives at the ski resort. Having taken out a new credit card for his travel expenses, he resolves he has enough for a few nights' stay and hire of ski equipment.
And then he disappears.
Back home in England, Alandra is beginning to worry when she has heard nothing more after his text from Madrid and soon the hours turn into days and then weeks as the family now worry for his safety. Liam is usually so predictable that it is not like him to not keep in contact and let them know he is safe and well. No updates, no nothing. They report his sudden disappearance to the police who send them a Family Liasion Officer, PC Harding, who Alandra's son Jake nicknames "PC Laptop" due to his small stature making him a small PC. However, the family feel the police are not taking Liam's disappearance seriously, believing him to have run off and left his family. But Alandra knows Liam would never do that. Particularly with youngest daughter Heather's wedding coming up, which ultimately goes ahead without her father and brother Jake walks Heather down the aisle in his place.
When the weeks turn into months with still no clue as to Liam's whereabouts, Jake starts a social media campaign on Twitter, Facebook and other platforms in the hope that someone somewhere has seen his father. And then one day, a promising lead gives the family hope that maybe Liam is still alive.
Meanwhile in a hospital in France, a man wakes with his leg in traction and plastered from hip to foot. He has no idea who he is, where he is or what happened to him. The hospital have named him "Jack" but know nothing else about the man who was found on the ski slopes having crashed into a tree. He had no ID on him, no phone, no wallet - nothing. No one knows who he is...not even him. Each day he sits in his hospital bed watching the hustle and bustle of the ward. And then he meets Katya.
On sojourn from her complicated life in London, Katya is visiting her sick uncle when she notices the man in the bed opposite is struggling to communicate with the staff, some of whom don't speak English. She translates for him as needed and before long spends time talking with him whilst her uncle sleeps. When her uncle passes away suddenly, Katya has no reason to continue visiting the hospital...except that she does...to see the man they call Jack. He has no family and no idea who is so therefore no one visits him. Over time, the two become close and when the day comes that Jack is finally to be discharged, he has nowhere to go. So Katya offers him the spare room at her uncle's flat where she has been staying...at least until she prepares it for sale.
Katya and Jack grow closer and, although she knows he probably has a family somewhere and that his memory will one day return, Katya cannot help but seize the moment and relish what she now has with Jack. It isn't long before they become a couple and in the weeks after, Katya announces that she is pregnant. Jack is over the moon and Katya is thrilled to discover his excitement at the prospect of becoming a father. The couple know Jack more than likely had a life before her but he promises her that what they have now in this moment is what matters and that he loves her.
And then Katya receives a phone call. Jack has been identified and his wife is looking for him. Katya knew this would all come to an end...but she holds on for just a few more days before telling him. But she doesn't get the chance. A knock at the door one evening while they are sitting down to dinner brings an unexpected visitor.
And Jack's past comes flooding back as soon as he sees the woman standing at the door.
What ensues is a complicated journey for Alandra, Liam and Katya as they navigate the new reality of their situation. For Alandra, she thought once she found Liam everything would be straightforward and they would return to their lives back in Salisbury, England. For Katya, she hoped life with Jack would be her new beginning despite knowing that one day it could all end. For Liam, he finds himself in a quandary of being in love with both women and not wanting to hurt either of them. But he has a three decade history with Alandra and three children he adores. With Katya he had something new and different, even if it wasn't quite real. So which road does he choose? And how does he tell Alandra of the new life he is expecting with Katya?
Up to this point, I really enjoyed the story. It was heartfelt and tragic as the search for Liam ensued while his life was beginning again as Jack, suffering retrograde amnesia, with the beautiful and younger Katya. While it is a mystery for his family, the reader knows exactly where he is even if neither party knows what's happened. And yet there is still an element of mystery to the story to come which is revealed later and I was shocked, and not in a good way.
The journey from here on in became annoying and irritating and left me shaking my head at the ludicrousness of the situation. I could not believe after all that the direction the story then took. I don't think Liam was the only one suffering a mid-life crisis as it was utterly ridiculous the decisions and directions taken in the wake of his return. There was a lot of eye-rolling and disbelief that plummeted this story from the 4 stars of the first half of the book to a disappointing 2 stars by the end.
It only takes a split second to make an impromptu decision...and everyone in this story has to live with the consequences of their stupid and selfish choices. Sadly, mine was to choose this book without first checking its genre because I think it would have made a far better tale as a thriller than an exploration into stupid decisions.
I would like to thank #LouiseVoss, #Netgalley and #Bookouture for an ARC of #HisOtherWoman in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for an early copy of His Other Woman. What started out as a very good plot, became a what were you thinking??? I don’t want to give spoilers away, but this book went way off the deep end. There was absolutely no rhyme or reason for the middle of the book. I’m sorry to give this type of review especially one that had promise.
This story was kind of brutal. So much heartache for everyone involved. Decisions made, lies told and relationships ruined. It’s an honest look at infidelity, second chances and family life that had me hooked.
It’s definitely not a hearts and flowers story but it is a love story and I really enjoyed it.
I have been in sort of a reading rut lately, so I decided to get my NetGalley shelf organized and try to tackle at least one book on my TBR a week. His other woman started off a little unusual for me. Liam has suffered a tremendous loss, his mother is not well, and he just hasn't been himself. Despite his daughter's upcoming wedding, Liam takes off for a hiking trip in Spain planning to keep everyone updated. However, once he lands in Madrid and lets everyone know that he has arrived, they don't hear from him again.
This is a tough one to review because I really enjoyed this book at times. I found the overall premise of the novel an interesting one. I'm not sure I agreed with much that happened, but it was interesting nonetheless. Watching the characters change and evolve throughout the novel, and then very realistically regret their decisions helped make this more relatable to me because who hasn't made decisions that they later were smacking themselves for?
Unfortunately, there were so many other times that I didn't enjoy this book. First, why didn't Liam just let everyone know what he had decided when he left on his trip? Lord, that would have saved some drama? And what in the hell was up with Alanda's sudden lifestyle change later in the book? What was happening with Liam suddenly cycling all of the time even though his leg still hurt too bad to take a walk? And then there was Katya... I admit that early in the novel, I found her extremely immature and almost not completely stable. This was confirmed towards the end of the book when that little twist came along, but I liked nothing about her from beginning to end.
And my main confusion is that this is described as "heartbreaking." I didn't see any real emotional connections between any of the characters that could categorize this novel as heartbreaking.
If you are a fan of women's fiction with a disappearance and a ton of obstacles to overcome, then His Other Woman may be your next favorite read. It's a bit slow to start but once it picks up, you really can't help reading along despite all of the moments you have to stop and wonder what in the world these people are thinking. This was a 3-star read for me despite some issues, simply because of the creativity the author put into the conflicts and resolutions.
*Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for providing this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
I am such a sucker for emotional heartbreaking stories, so when I read the synopsis for His Other Woman by Louise Voss, I knew I had to read it. I want to be drawn in and feel the pain and emotion oozing off of the characters and in this story we have that in spades.
Liam is having a sort of midlife crisis. With the recent loss of his twin brother to suicide and his mother’s health declining due to dementia, Liam seems to be at a cross roads, the first of many as the story progresses. His wife Alandra encourages him to get away for a while and partake in the Camino de Santiago, a pilgrimage in Spain, in order to clear his mind and all of the troubles that are affecting his life. Only, the trip does not go as planned and Liam vanishes out of thin air. His wife and children are beside themselves with worry not knowing what happened to Liam. Is he alive or laying in a ditch somewhere? Did he just up and leave them for another woman?
This story does move at a slow pace, but I think at times sometimes this is necessary as it makes you more aware of the complexities of the characters in this story. We get to learn more about Liam especially from his wife Alandra as well as getting to know Alandra and her happy life with her husband. We also learn about Katya, the other woman in Liam’s life. I think a central theme running through this story is how love is blind and how one can be in love with more than one person. Of course, this isn’t just a run of the mill falling in love with someone else while married. This story is so much more complicated than that (in a good way.)
I think through everything and one of the things I have taken away from this story is sometimes you can have compassion and sympathy for all of the characters as each is hurting in their own way and how one can be stuck at a crossroads not knowing what path to take knowing that either path taken someone will get hurt.
Alanda is taking her husband, Liam, to the airport for a 3-week trip just so he can get away for awhile which he truly needs. Liam’s twin brother, Richard, recently committed suicide after a lifetime of alcohol and drugs. Liam wishes he could have saved him. Now, he plans to go to Madrid and walk the Camino de Santiago, something he has always wanted to do. Alanda hopes that this time away will give Liam a chance to find peace.
They have 3 children, twins Jake and Becky, and daughter Heather who is getting married before long. While Alanda would have liked to accompany Liam, she needs to be at home to help Heather with all of her wedding preparations.
When Alanda does not hear from Liam in a few days, she gets nervous. She is unable to contact him at all. Where is he and what could have happened to him?
Oh my goodness. What a story. I kept saying: What? What? What? How can you do what Liam did? Selfish? Yes. He needed to leave his family for several weeks while he found himself. Good grief. Liam was a wimp and Alanda was too willing to let him be that way. He did not THINK before he acted which makes this whole scenario so sad. I didn’t know whether to laugh or be angry at times. Alanda’s actions at finding Liam were also ridiculous. And then there’s Katya using Liam while saying she loves him. This whole group of people would make a psychiatrist rub their hands together in anticipation. However, I was entertained so I have given the book 3 stars. I’m still shaking my head.
Copy provided by NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.
This is my first book by this author and I have to say it’s always thrilling getting to know a new (to me anyway) author.
I normally don’t read blurbs before I start a book, but because I did the cover reveal for this one a few weeks ago, I couldn’t help seeing the first sentence while copying and pasting and I thought: ‘this is my kind of book’. And was it…?
Oh yes, it most certainly was, but sometimes I thought: ‘Really? How can you do that?’ But then, after having finished the book, I started to look at it from a different angle. It’s true when they say that every story has two sides, isn’t it?
When you are not aware of something, you act in the way you feels is best for you at that time, because what if it’s your only chance at happiness? You would grab it with both hands too, wouldn’t you?
You cannot chose when you fall in love or whom it will be with, but is love sometimes not being confused with attraction or something exciting which might fade away rather fast? And then there might only ‘what if’ left…
Life certainly is about taking chances, but be careful tough. You probably will hurt some people in the process and think twice before you throw something away. You might get it back or you might not.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I liked the twist the author added and I had strong doubts about the quality of the work the police forces did. 5 stars.
First, thank you to the publishers at Bookouture and Netgalley for this e-ARC of His Other Woman.
His Other Woman begins with a family seeing their father, Liam, off for a 3 week pilgrimage in Spain. After losing his brother and dealing with his aging mother’s dementia, everyone decides that he needs this trip, his “midlife crisis” so to speak. But while waiting to board his plane, he decides on a different plan.
After his family doesn’t hear from him for a few days, they begin to worry, understandably so, and contact the police. Unfortunately, Liam, is nowhere to be found. Alanda, his wife, is beyond wracked with guilt for making him take this trip, as well as worry.
What happens in His Other Woman is nothing if not shocking and scandalous. The plot moves slowly at first, but quickly picks up around 40% in. This is when I finally felt truly invested. The twists were interesting, but in the end, I hated each and every character. Their actions didn’t make sense to me, and some of it felt a bit forced. Before this point, I really enjoyed Liam and Katya’s points of view, so it was a bit unfortunate.
If you enjoy books about missing persons, this may be right up your alley! His Other Woman releases July 2!
His other woman was a heartbreaking story about love, relationship, marriage and second chances. From the beginning, I had a feeling that this will be one of those raw stories that are still taboo in some ways because nothing is as easy as it looks like when coming to life decisions and what one stands for. Middle life crisis is always interesting to see how it can change a person and this book shows it in full power. Heartache, family drama but also lots of love that always wins , that’s how I would summarise this story.
This was a page turner. I didn’t like Katya. It didn’t make sense to me that a young woman would take in a man whom she only knew a couple of weeks. Not only take in but become his lover. I would love a follow up book.
Wow, what a story! Liam’s twin brother tragically and recently died by suicide and his mom has dementia. So his wife of a few decades, Alanda, convinces him to trek a leg of the Camino de Santiago, something he always wanted to experience, to find some peace again. He’ll only be gone for three weeks. He’ll be back in plenty of time for his youngest daughter’s wedding. But, on the plane, Liam sees an advertisement for a ski resort and decides to take a spontaneous side trip to the slopes before his long hike. Of course he doesn’t inform his family, he’s a grown man who can take care of himself. A few days later, Alanda is frantic after not being able to reach Liam and she reports him missing. Simultaneously, a John Doe wakes up in a French hospital with a broken femur and total amnesia. He had no phone or ID on him when rescued so the nurses nickname him Jack. Katya visits her dying uncle every day and becomes helpful with the language barrier for his roommate. When her uncle passes on, she continues to visit Jack and they develop feelings for each other. Meanwhile, Alanda’s son and daughters launch a social media campaign to find Liam. From there it is a complicated journey and a slippery slope through the fear of the unknown, loss, grief, and moving forward. This story is tragic and moving and mysterious. And even though the reader has a bird’s eye view into everyone’s lives, it is compelling to discover how all the pieces of the narrative will resolve with a few twists along the way to shake things up. Thank you Netgalley, Bookouture and the author for this eARC in exchange for my honest review. Available now
When a book can keep me awake into the wee hours of the morning, tell yourself we have a winner. I loved everything about this book, especially the twist at the end. I really couldn't believe what happened. The main characters especially the husband Liam will have you feeling very sad at some points. My heart truly went out to him in the end. Katya (the other woman), well I had her back until... (I won't say much here cause I want persons to read this). What I can say is that this story was a really touching and believable tale of marriage and how even the strongest of marriages can have turmoil. Great story.
His other woman is a heart rending read that I absolutely loved! Based in my home city of Salisbury with many familiar places made it even more special! Liam, married with three children is having a midlife crisis type event triggered by the death of his twin brother in tragic circumstances and decides to go away on his own for several weeks to hike in Spain, his family wave him off at the airport expecting to see him back within a few weeks! What follows is an agonising time for the family as Liam doesn’t respond to texts, calls and messages and to all intents and purposes has vanished/ disappeared with no trace! Police searches, internet awareness, media campaigns ensue and finally after several months a positive sighting is reported! His wife jets off to find him only to be confronted with a very changed Liam/Jack who has set up a whole new life with someone else! Such a heartbreaking, tender, sensitive portrayal of post accident amnesia and the ramifications that follow! A great read that I would highly recommend! Thank you netgalley for this early read.
Beautiful. Heart breaking. A tear jerker of a read that makes you think, question, feel, sympathize. Felt for every one of the characters. Just beautiful.
Thank you to @bookouture and @LouiseVoss1 for this advanced copy of His Other Woman in return for an honest review. His Other Woman is due to be published on 2nd July 2021 and you can get a copy here.
Description 🔖
Alanda and Liam are in their mid-fifties and happily married with three grown up children. After a devastating family bereavement, Liam needs some time to clear his mind so signs up for a solo three week walk around Spain. The entire family support him on this endeavour and rally around to see him off on his travels.
A couple of days later, they’re unable to contact Liam. He has vanished completely. Fast forward a couple of months and Liam has zero memory and has fallen in love with another woman. Once Alanda is able to locate him, which woman will Liam decide he loves more?
General Thoughts 🤔
I spent the first half of this book questioning what on earth I would do if I was in this situation; and not just from one perspective. The answer is I really do not know, but what I do know is that it would be absolutely devastating for all parties involved. This story was certainly emotionally gripping and got it’s claws into me. Especially during the awkward moments when Alanda, Liam and his new woman Katya were all together in the same room. I could feel the tension leaping off the page.
The second half of the book kind of dropped off a little for me. Nowhere near to the point where I wanted to stop but I didn’t think that it was as dramatic as the first half. The emotional tug was a lot more subtle and the story was more of a slow burn. I struggled to get my head around some of the decisions that were made by all of the characters but I think that that’s a good thing. Everyone makes bad decisions for the right reasons, or certainly for what they believe to be the right reasons.
Characters 👬👭👫
I have thought about the characters in this book long and hard and I am still undecided about them. I can’t decide if I liked them or not but I think it’s because I have tried to put myself in their shoes and the truth is, I just can’t. I don’t know what I would do if I was any of them. Nobody was to blame for any of the dramas that unfolded and that meant that I was clinging onto the hope that somehow, everyone would end up living happily ever after.
What happened to Liam was terrible and I felt like he was dealt such a bad card after he returned home. A part of me expected him to just pick up where he left off, but I also understand that it just wasn’t that simple for him.
I felt huge amounts of sympathy for Alanda whilst Liam was missing and also once she found him. I think I would have likely reacted in the same way. But then afterwards, I found her to be at the worst selfish and at the least, foolish. She actually made me feel a bit frustrated.
Writing Style ✍️
This is the first Louise Voss book that I’ve read and I’m pleased to report that I really enjoyed her writing. The story was told from multiple perspectives which I am always a fan of. She definitely has a special gift for creating emotional tension. There were chapters/sections of the book where I felt like I was living the scene myself.
What I didn’t know until finishing, is that this is the first non-crime fiction book that this author has written in quite some time and as a crime fiction fiend, I definitely would like to read some of her earlier work.
Conclusion & Scoring 🎖️
I gasped many times, I’m fairly sure I audibly said WTF a few times and I was all in with this story. It was emotionally draining at times and a bit of a slower churn at others. All of that said, I think it’s obvious that I enjoyed reading His Other Woman. I know lots of my friends will too, so I will definitely be recommending this book.
His Other Woman: An Absolutely Heartbreaking and gripping emotional page- turner
Liam decided to take a walk in Spain for a couple of weeks. He was upset that his twin brother killed himself out of depression. So of he went leaving his wife, Amanda, his children, Heather, Becky and Jake. Promising he would be back to walk his daughter down the aisle to marry Kevin. After arriving in Madrid, he decided to take a detour to the Alps to ski for a couple of days. He had a accident on the slopes. Taken t the hospital, no wallet, no I D. He woke up not knowing who he was, they named him Jack. Jack had a serious leg injury and was in a cast. Not knowing who he was and didn't know anyone, he started talking with a young girl. She came to the hospital to visit her uncle. Later he passed away. She came to like Jack, knowing he didn't know who he was, she read to him and it to know him. Later she decided to invite him to her home since he didn't have any where else Togo, still no memory. He ended up getting involved with Katy a the young girl at the Apartment. Started a romantic relationship with her, not knowing who he was and it was a emotional dilemma that he couldn't remember. His wife Amanda searched and searched for him, his whole family was in the news and the Police were also involved looking for him. After months of searching a tip came in, that a woman and her husband saw him on the slopes. Calling his son Jake, getting the information from her. They started to look in a different place. Finally found him. His wife ending up at Katy a home. Opening up the door, he finally finds his mind and knows who he is, A happily married man for years, but couldn't remember that he was in love with his wife. What a nightmare! I will now not continue with his story, keeps you on your toes to find out what happens next. I truly loved reading this authors story, hoping to find more of her books in the future. Please enjoy this wonderful story!!!! I did love it so much , I didn't want it to end it was just that awesome!!! ENJOY
A split second decision has massive consequences... Liam is grieving for his twin brother and decides to embark on a trip to Spain. He waves goodbye to his wife and three children but then spots a poster for a ski resort. In an instant, he chooses to head there instead but has a catastrophic accident before he phones home to tell them of his change of plan. Waking up with amnesia, will he ever be reunited with his family...? His Other Woman is an intriguing 'what if...' type of book. The situation was credible and makes you wonder how you would react. The story is delivered though three viewpoints: Alanda, Liam and Katya. I really enjoyed the three perspectives of this family drama as events unfolded. It was easy to identify with the main characters and understand their actions even when not agreeing with them. Liam has had a tough few years and his wife Alanda supports his need to get away. There is a hint of a midlife crisis too as he decides to act with a spontanetity that is out of character. His commitment and love for his family is never in doubt but then he gets amnesia as a result of an accident and relies heavily upon Katya for his recovery. I felt that things moved very fast but Katya's motives become clearer later in the book. The stress and upset for Alanda and her children is described so authentically. Their battle to stay positive and hopeful when there is no news for months is heartbreaking. I honestly had no idea how I wanted this book to end and which woman Liam should choose. Things get tangled in the final part of the book but I thought the ending was a fitting conclusion. His Other Woman is a thoroughly entertaining family drama that will get you thinking 'what if...'
A wife wiring for her lost husband to home home for 4 months + a husband who had amnesia post accident + a young woman who loved man and found herself pregnant = an all around mess with difficult emotional decisions to be taken.
My first book by author Louise Voss, the first half was about settling in the characters in their new roles where each had to find themselves. I loved the emotions that suffused through me as I kept inching toward the confrontation that was yet to come.
The author’s words brought home the pathos of the situation especially when the wife finally found her husband and his memories soon revealed themselves along with the truth of the present.
The strange dynamic of the new situation brought a lot of feelings to the forefront; there was a realism to them. Then unfortunately, the decisions and the reveals that were written in the last 30% were not in the realm of believability, and it seemed to happen too fast.
I supposed that was life – trial and errors. And all the characters found their new selves as they faced some facts of past life that came up as twists but had me doubting my emotions. It was quite strange. But that’s fiction and creative license.
Overall, the book gripped my imagination as my mind drifted to such a situation and what would one do if life presented such a thing. A time of reflection.
I love me some angsty filled book and this would be about 4 if we go purely on that scale. The beginning was a bit bland for me, but when he got amnesia, I mean you see where things are going and know where things are going to end. Ending and the switcheroos were not a shocker. But I hated how he still remained with his wife when he was in love with Katya. Meh, cant say much since said wife was actually experiencing her own coming out time.
BUT!!
the reason I gave this a 1? is because of Katya.
For one, why are we making her out to be a good woman? Someone who takes a vulnerable person and molds them and tells them things which completely fall on their own beliefs? Telling someone who has no memories of anything particular things about relationships and all? I found her actions to be similar to grooming. WAY too similar. what an odd situation that her friend commented that an amnesiac guy could be grooming her. well what a turn out that was dear friend, since your dear Katya was the one doing the manipulating here. No matter what she would never be the good woman for me. Plus I'm still confused why she didn't want him to be with his child but then I skimmed her part cause I seriously hated her. Why give her a HEA tho ugh.
All in all, throw Katya away and I like this book.

Firstly, I want to thank NetGalley for letting me read this book in exchange for a honest review.
It is a clever storyline and quite unique - Liam goes on a trip to Spain just before his daughter’s wedding to see if it will help him feel better. His wife, Alanda, encourages him to go, hoping it will cheer her husband up. But then, Liam seems to vanish, and his family is extremely worried about him. Where is he? Could things go back to normal when they find him? Will things be the same?
I enjoyed the first half of the book, but then I found the situations annoying, and it made me roll my eyes in nearly every chapter. Not only about some decisions the characters were making, but also the way they were going about it.
It is my first book by Louise Voss though, and I would read another one.
Just when you think the worst has happened a new level appears. Alana and Liam start happily married but when he goes missing she's devastated only to later find him. Sounds great but quickly turns when she discovers he's with someone else and has no memory of her after an accident left him with amnesia. Well this made my mind spin in probably an unhealthy way at what I would do being in either of their shoes and then the introduction of the "other" woman adds her perspective too. My head was so conflicted with this scenario especially finding someone so lost more so after they've been found. A definite mind rollercoaster that left me gutted even after I finished reading it, but loved it. I received an advanced copy of this book from Netgalley for my honest opinion.
Katya is the true villain in this novel. She was a horrible person for how she treated Jack and I will never get over how she manipulated him into getting her pregnant while knowing he had a family looking for him and because her husband couldn't, then basically told him to get lost so she could raise her kid with her husband who she goes back to. This is truthfully a storyline I've seen in two separate soap operas. So dumb.
Jack isn't much better and he deserves to end up single for the rest of his life.
I only liked Alanda and even though the story doesn't end on a HEA or even a HFN, I truly hope she and Jack stay divorced.
I binge read this new book from Louise Voss in 2 nights! I am a speed reader, but didn't skip a word. The story is a dramatic "what if" and it was refreshing to like and want to support all three main characters. Very well written and highly enjoyable.
