Guild Wars #13

And Break It Not

Rate this book
The planet of Azure is nearly idyllic—there is a high standard of living, industry is booming, and the two races—Human and Wrogul—get along well with each other most days.

But underneath it all, there is tension between the races. Despite having no reason for it, the Humans don’t always trust the Wrogul, and there is a faction within the Wrogul community that doesn’t want its young growing up “Human.”

When a large group of Wrogul move into the ocean and strange things begin happening—weird lights seen in the depths and sabotage at the mariculture stations—the Human’s distrust becomes outright suspicion of treachery.

As things spiral out of control, another force enters the system—a group ostensibly sent by the UN on Earth to inspect the crops being grown on Azure—which threatens to destroy everything the Humans and Wrogul have worked for.

While the Wrogul still intend to do no harm, the Humans have powerful enemies in the galaxy, and, this time, the Wrogul may have no choice about whether to join the front lines with their Human friends. Will the threat of a common enemy break the relationship between the Humans and Wrogul…or break it not?

You know Azure?
Nice little planet, top weather, great fauna...
Small colony founded by humans, now shared with Wrogul...
You would think all is well in paradise... Think again!
First, even though the Wrogul offsprings (the buds) inherit the knowledge of their parent, each has his / her own personality, leading to some interesting... choices in life...
Then there is the small matter of how to eke a living in this rough galaxy...
In the aftermath of the Omega wars, Azure gets invaded by a human "protection" gang, which doesn't really realise what it is tangling with...
At the same time, there is something deeper going on, that nobody can really figure out albeit some signs are ominous....
Add to that the fact that, with the exception of the humans, ALL races in the Galaxy prefer to leave the wrogul alone... because...
And you will understand you are in for a wild ride!

Another OUTSTANDING 4 Horseman Universe (4HU) Story about the beautiful planet Azure, the Wrogul and both evil & good Humans.

4HU stories are consistently some of the best Science Fiction/Military Space Opera stories I have ever read.  This one really lives up to its pedigree:->

It provides most of the backstory on the mysterious Wrogul and the Wrogul/Human colony on Azure.  The title deals with the relationship between the Wrogul and Human colonists on the planet which has grown tenuous.  This fragile relationship is complicated even more when the planet has unexplained events then stressed to the breaking point when a group of “evil” Humans invade the planet.

Like every 4HU story I have read – I have read all of them so far – this one is fast paced, fun to read and hard to put down.

Trash.

This "writing" is what trash is. Unreadable, unfollow able, completely ridiculous and unnecessary.

This is exactly what happens when the "woke writers " ruin storylines with propaganda.
Lets celebrate the man who fathers over 50 children with multiple women some wives. Lets further attack the traditional family unit. Garbage.

It seems ok because he's ultra wealthy, otherwise he's just a celebrated dead beat dad.

These "authors" need to be fired. Go write your social justice and non binary propaganda in a different series.

Back to Azure!

Its great to see Rob and Sandra take us back to Azure and the mysterious Wrogul. They've filled in some of the gaps: why did the Free Colony leave? What was the friction between Todd's offspring? What happened on Azure during and after the Omega War? Like "Do No Harm", you get the story from various viewpoints up to the main part of the tale. There's more to come as the 4HU moves ahead!

A confusing repetitive mishmash of a book.

Action was almost non existent. Storyline kept getting stepped on by jumping back and forth in time and place. It seems like too much tried to get done in this book and as a result it was a hard slog at times for me. Some good characters that had flashes of being enjoyable but mostly a boring repetitive jumble which is very different from the typically enjoyable 4hu books (most of which I have read and enjoyed).

Fantastic

Another great inclusion into the 4HU, this time dealing with one of the lesser known alien species and their history on the planet Azure.
The authors use of references from past authors is sublime and once again just as some questions are answered more are revealed, eagerly looking forward to the next chapter!

Great story progression!

If you’re not following the Wrogul storyline, you should be! Things are getting exciting on Azure, and by exciting I mean bloody and nerve-wracking. It becomes clear in this novel that this is all heading somewhere monumental, so you’d better read this to keep up.

Eight

Well more of our Wrogul buddies and the adventures on Azure. Well crafted book, plenty of returning characters and reunions which were great. Lot of action, drama ,suspense and sadly tragedy. More and more questions need answering...

Interesting read but bounced around too much

It was a good story but had so many different plots, sub plots and other things go I by on it seemed a bit discombobulated. I would say some of the characters were real good though.

Don't give up after slow start

About 1\2 way through it takes off and I couldn't wait to see what happens next. I love the name dropping from old tv series I grew up with. Always fun when you come across one.

Good Read

Builds nicely on the previous books.

I am surprised at how much ship tonnage the Ragmuffins had. But hey, it made for a fun read.

One enemy down

A lot of action. A war won. An unseen enemy lurks in the background. I think he underestimates those pesky humans and their somewhat damp allies.
