History knows me by many names. Nyx, the Goddess of Night. Lilith, the Lady of Darkness. Selaphiel, the fifth angel of God. But the course of my life has been determined by my greatest mistake. I opened the gate and allowed Lucifer to fall. Booted from Heaven for my sin, I serve my penance as a reaper. By collecting history’s most twisted souls, I work to one day earn my ticket home.
Case #666
The truth has been revealed. Lucifer is every bit the devil countless cultures paint him as. I was foolish enough to have his back. To believe in him. Now I know every word was a lie and his hands drip with the blood of innocents.
I opened the gate and let the Prince of Darkness fall. Soon, the world will be crushed under his thrall. Who will stop his nefarious rise? This badass reaper and her eager scythe.
Wow, what a way to end a series!! So many emotions are running through my mind as I write this review. Mostly sadness but happy at how the story ended. Even though I knew the ending was coming, I was still not prepared for it to end. The characters were amazing. Nyx is still my favorite kick ass heroine that has kept me on the edge of my seat, while Z and his witty and cheesy jokes kept me smiling. And A-hole, she is just A-hole. Luce was sexy as hell with a deep and dark side, literally, and he kept me wanting to continue to hate him. I will miss these characters but I know that I will find myself coming back to read them over again and they will forever be embedded in my life. The story-line kept me entertained from beginning to end. It was very well written and I had devoured it all in one sitting because I craved to find out what the outcome would be, which left me with mixed emotions. Rourke did a phenomenal job at bringing this story to life and ending it with a sad but yet happy ending. This is for sure a remarkable series that I will dearly miss miss but I will probably come back to them to relive it all over again!! I highly recommend this read and series!!
A classic in short-order, Rourke has done it again! The Devil You Reap (Fear the Reaper #4) is the high-octane feels-fueled finale to the cant-miss series of 2020. In true Rourke-fashion, you won't be ready to say goodbye. It's always sad to see a series end, but with a ride like this, it's a journey well-finished.
Rourke doesn't skip a beat and jumps right into the action in this final outing for Nyx and her team of angelic misfits, starting right where we left off in our penultimate chapter, it's the final showdown. Nearing the end of his 72-soul search, Lucifer is ready to storm the gates of Heaven and take what he thinks is his, but can Nyx stop her one-time love before it's too late?
You'll finish this read in a single sitting, but you wont regret a second of the fun. I cannot wait for everyone to get their hands on this incredible finale. I hear a box set of the series is in the works too! Don't sleep on this incredible serial series from the incomparable Stacey Rourke! It's a RIP-roaring good time. ;)
The Devil You Reap is the concluding installment of the Fear the Reaper series which features the epic final showdown with Nyx and Lucifer. Lucifer's been up to no good and Nyx is definitely on to him. Her, a posse of angels, and her feline companion A-Hole gang up to prevent Lucifer from carrying out his nefarious plan. Of course, this isn't as straight forward as it seems. Nyx is forced to face the demons of her past, exposing readers to another layer of this reaper who spends her days taking on the really tough cases. Things can get a bit complicated when Lucifer gets the crazy idea to knock on heaven's door. Will Nyx be able to put aside her feelings for Lucifer to do the right thing?
I recommend reading this series in order as each book follows from the previous one and there is a major storyline that carries through the series. Plus, Ms. Rourke provides her trademark kick ass snarky female lead with a heart of gold.
My heart honestly broke at the end for Sel, all those years trying to save Lucifer just to be deceived. In The Devil You Reap we get a look at Sel's past so she can find the strength to fight the one person she's loved for years. This is such an emotional, intense, and shocking roller coaster ride. Everything happens so fast and yet I was seriously emotional invested, praying everyone would receive a happy ending! Overall I was satisfied with how things concluded. I'm going to miss these sassy characters and honestly would love a spin-off of seeing her cat (Nephthys) be a human for that week, to see the shenanigans she'll get up to.
These books may have been short, but wow did they all pack a punch! Each of the books in the Fear the Reaper series brought so many emotions, laughter, and intense moments that I'm sad to say goodbye to these characters. The Devil You Reap shows readers the big baddie is making his move, and it will be up to Nyx and friends to keep everyone safe. Get ready for an epic finale!
Nix and Lucifer face off in this final entry into the Fear the Reaper series. Nix is forced to come to terms with several parts of her existence since she fell. Along the way of self discovery she finds, truths and lies and comes out a better person in the end. This fast read was full of revelations, sarcasm and sadness. I really enjoyed this series.
This series has captivated me from the first book, Ripper vs Reaper. The stories kept going and keep you enthralled. NYC is a tortured soul who feels things deeply and needs forgiveness. She love Lucifer but can she trust him? Each book feeds into the next seamlessly and you can't stop reading!
I am not ashamed to say I have read all four books in one day. I always enjoy Stacey's work and this series was no exception. I don't know if I love the name Nyx or the name Selaphiel. I loved the friendship between everyone and the true connection between everyone.
Also, A-hole. Best cat name ever.
I look forward to reading more of her work as I always do.
Only fear the reaper if you cannot love. As a person raised Catholic, this is a very interesting take on the wages of sin and the glorification of God’s love…all through the eyes of a beautiful angel. Very interesting if not to short. I could read so much more…and hopefully will. Well done,
Awesome read!! Selaphiel aka Nyx is a Reaper. She reaps the souls of the evil like Jack The Ripper. With this last story, she has the grimoire, which if she has evil in her soul, all the evil spirits could get out and storm heaven. If she has forgiven her past life, then those evil souls can be banished to hell. What happens? A must read
Start at the beginning for sure! Nyx has had her world turned upside down. My heart broke for her, for her pain, for the revelations she has to come to terms with, for the betrayal she feels. The ending was amazing!
I loved this series and I hope we see more of Nyx. Though considering how short the books were it would probably have been better to make them just one book. Either way, I was enchanted the entire time.
This was a terrific ending to this series. It had intensity and emotion in all the right places. I grew to love and thoroughly enjoy these characters throughout this short series, and I don't think I'm ready to give them up just yet. I hope there will be more to come in the future.
The ending was surprising for sure. I'm a bit underwhelmed by this last book. I felt it was rushed and was missing some of the earlier book's passion and fight. I wished there was more to it. Overall, the series was great!
Reaping at its best! This series is a 4 part series of short episodes where Rourke brings snark to a whole new level. Nyx is one badass chick indeed & I could never get enough of her! This episode is quick paced, full of action, comedy, & ultimately heart breaking too. Loved the entire series!
Wow – the wrap up to this story is amazing. I couldn’t put it down! Nyx has to dig deep to survive what is coming. I loved learning about the origin of her cat. So many surprises with wonderful twists and turns. Swoon worthy ending – love Ezekiel!
Story did not end on a cliffhanger. I liked that the heroine kept being a bad@$$ the entire time. Different spin on things . And a pretty goood storyline.
Stacey is a great storyteller and her character development is very deep. I felt swept up in the lives of these characters and invested in their outcomes.
What an epic conclusion to this amazingly rounded series! I would KILL for a sequel in Luce's POV for the next chapter of his existence. Sel grew so much so fast and I had so much fun consuming this series in my down time for work. It was the perfect choice for me. 10/10 would recommend this series!
This novella is an excellent ending to the Fear the Reaper Saga. Throughout the books Nyx has hated herself as much as she hates the awful souls she reaps. To make it through this last book’s events she has to forgive herself and come to terms with the fact that Lucifer is not who she thought he was. Her task is difficult, but Nyx faces it head on. The ending is great. I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys urban fantasy.
