Meet Me Under the Kissing Bough by Josi Kilpack 5*
I absolutely adored this novella of second chance love. So sweet and tender. It was great at showing the many emotions of finding love again after a spouse has passed away. The sadness of not having them around, yet the pull of feeling loved and cared for again and the pull of family and friends as well. I loved these two characters and the joy they found with each other and each other's children. My favorite novella of the three.

Healing Hearts for the Holidays by Anneka Walker 4*
In this novella, we get to see several family members from this author's previous Christmas novella. I loved coming back to this little town and family. It was fun to see the couple from that first novella to this one and the love they've found. But there's still strife between their families. Now Julia and Esmond, the sister and brother to our first couple, are continuing their friendship in a bit of a secretive way. How else is Julia to see her sister and help her in her need without her father finding out? And Esmond is always the gentleman. The carriage rides are so great! And the letters. Oh, my!!! You'll have to read it to discover the bit of mystery.

A Christmas Correspondence by Sarah L. McConkie 4*
This was a cute novella spun off from A Christmas Carol. You'll find several nods to the characters and storyline in here. It was fun. I really enjoyed watching these characters work through their pasts and struggles and finding healing. Some characters are just wonderful and have already found peace and forgiveness and joy and love in their lives. While other characters need to find all of that in their lives.

Content: All three novellas are clean.

I received a copy from the publisher, Covenant Communications, via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.

Happy Reading!!!

I love Christmas time with sleigh rides on soft white snow, bright colored boxed gifts under a lit Christmas trees. And of course, kissing under the mistletoe . These 3 novellas were all of these things and more. I hope enjoy them as much as I did.
“The Kissing Bough” by Josi S. Kilpack was a 5 ⭐️. I loved it! It takes place on an estate near Nottinghamshire, England in 1819. It had all of the charm and romance I love in a regency novella. There was all the holiday games and tradition associated with the time. The characters were fun and enjoyable with a perfect mix of awe and respectability. The romance had breathtaking chemistry and was clean.
I highly recommend this one!
“Healing Hearts for the Holidays” by Anneka R. Walker was a 5 ⭐️. It takes place in Northamptonshire, England in 1812, around the Christmas season between two estates that have a long held feud between them. There’s forbidden love and a lot of planning to make things better between the households. The characters were lovely and the banter between the h and H was sweet. Great chemistry with dreamy encounters and long looks across the room and also clean. I love to see things work out.
I highly recommend it.
“A Christmas Correspondence” by Sarah L. McConkie was a 4.5⭐️. It’s London, England December 1843, and things are bleak this Christmas. A young women of status must read her deceased fathers letters in order to receive her inheritance. She reluctantly agrees to go back to her childhood home and upsets everyone with her manners. She’s rude and unlikable. She meets her match when a certain man befriends her. This was sweet, with a HEA. Another great example of how Christmas can reveal so much about ourselves.
I highly recommend this as well.

Meet Me Under the Kissing Bough by Josi S. Kilpack

This story is so sweet! I love the way Kilpack takes unconventional characters and situations and brings them to life. Deborah is a widow hosting a Christmas house party. Going against the wishes of loved ones, she follows her own heart and finds her own footing in forging the path to her future. I loved her strength and gentleness. The kissing bough competition was so much fun and I wish I could've seen them all. I loved the tradition surrounding them as well, and the swoony, stolen moments were the icing on the cake.

Healing Hearts for the Holidays by Anneka R. Walker

Another great story with the sweetness to heal the hardest of hearts! A mystery has torn apart two families and the divide is heartbreaking. In a flirtatious and fun manner, things unravel and are revealed, uncovering a darling tale. I love the emphasis on family and the swoony banter was an added bonus.

A Christmas Correspondence by Sarah L. McConkie

There are little gems in this story that give a tribute to A CHRISTMAS CAROL and that made me feel better because there are some characters who are great and others who have a lot to learn. The author did a great job with them because I was completely turned off at first, but then realized what the story was patterned after and got sucked right in. This was a darling story to end the collection!

Content: clean romance

Delightful compilation of three Christmas novellas by three fantastic authors all about second chances for love and reconciliation. Thoroughly enjoyed each story and the captivating characters. I quickly read through each story and found that they left me with a desire to know more and what happens next.

The first novella Meet Me Under the Kissing Bough by Josi S. Kilpack is a lovely story about a young widow who decides to hold a house party after mourning her beloved husband. Deborah invites Phillip Dempsey, who was her husband’s good friend and has taken it upon himself to look after her and her three children. Phillip understands loss after losing his own wife and caring for two young sons.. Despite their inequality in rank, Deborah is willing to take a chance on loving again, but will her relatives support her or be a hindrance? This was a thoroughly romantic story of more mature characters seeking a second chance at love. I loved the twists and turns the story takes as Deborah tries to decide if it is worth risking her heart again.

The second novella, Healing Hearts for the Holidays by Anneka R. Walker tells the story of both love and reconciliation as Julia and Esmond try to solve a decades old feud between their families. Julia and Esmond are both attracted to each other but see their relationship as doomed unless they can find out what happened all those years ago and reconcile their families. I loved the flirty Esmond and the thoughtful caring Julia. The other characters including Julia’s sister Alice were endearing. This story in particular drew me in and I really wanted to know more.

The third novella, A Christmas Correspondence by Sarah L. McConkie is a creative gender swap retelling of A Christmas Carol. When Jacob Morleigh lost his wife, he turned into a different man. His bitter mistreatment of his young daughter Caroline altered her into a haughty, cruel, selfish young woman. Caroline now an adult does not mourn the loss of her father but enjoys her status and money. John Charleston has the unenviable task of delivering letters to Caroline after a promise to his dying father who was Jacob Morleigh’s steward. Each letter is a heartfelt apology offering Caroline the chance for change, forgiveness and even love. John is such a caring, thoughtful person. Caroline is extremely unlikeable at first, but her past makes her sympathetic. Her loneliness is palpable and I loved the way John was supportive and hopeful in her ability to change.

Loved this collection that can easily be read in one sitting. Each story is enjoyable and different while maintaining the theme of second chance love. With great characters and plenty of romance, I recommend this to those who enjoy clean historical romance, and sweet Christmas stories. I received this copy from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions are my own and I was not required to provide a positive review.

4.5 stars rounded up for this wonderful collection of Christmas romances.

Meet Me Under the Kissing Bough by Josi Kilpack --I love this story of a woman and a man finding love again after the death of their spouses. Deborah hosts a Christmas house party for the first time in quite awhile and one of the guests is a widower (Phillip) she's interested in. She's torn between her developing feelings for him and following her mother's advice, that she's always trusted. I loved reading about the activities for each day of the house party, especially the kissing bough contest. This was my favorite of the three stories.

Healing Hearts for the Holidays by Anneka R. Walker--In this story we revisit characters we met in last year's collection A Hopeful Christmas: A Regency Romance Collection. I really liked Esmond and Julia, and their determination to be together despite the fact that their families haven't gotten along in many years. I really loved the letters they found in the hiding place in the wall, and that we find out the reason why the two families don't get along. I liked that the long-ago incident that caused the rift between the families was finally laid to rest and they were able to find peace.

A Christmas Correspondence by Sarah L. McConkie--This story is a nod to Dickens' A CHRISTMAS CAROL, which I didn't get at first. Once I did, it explained the behavior of the main female character, Caroline, who I didn't like at first, and I could see all the similarities between the two stories. I liked how the reader not only gets to see the changes in Caroline, but what spurs the changes. I really loved John's thoughtfulness and caring to everyone.

I love these collections as each story is different but revolves around Christmas. Each can be read in an hour which is nice when you have limited reading time. These are all sweet romances that will touch your heart and get you in the spirit of the holiday.

I received a complimentary copy from the publisher, Covenant Communications, via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own.

I enjoyed this sweet collection of stories with a common theme of Christmas romance and mistletoe "kissing boughs." They are all set in the Regency era and are written by some of my favorite authors of the genre. The first story is a slow burn, with both main characters moving past their grief of losing a spouse. Even though they are perfect for each other, the issue of societal class and climbing ranks complicates their future, especially when an unexpected guest arrives.

The second story was full of family drama and feuding, conflict and secrets. I liked how Esmond pursued Julia in spite of the obstacles, and was reluctant to give her up. They had some fun banter and great chemistry. The third story featured character growth as it echoed the classic Christmas story, and it was neat to see the way John was able to see into Caroline's heart. A lovely collection of stories perfect for holiday reading!

Three excellent historical tales set at Christmas in England.

I enjoyed all the traditions and house parties and family gatherings with a cast full of characters that made the stories interesting and varied.
I had a hard time picking a favorite, as I liked each one for different reasons, but if I had to, I'd say the last one on account of the main character's growth. Excellently done.

I highly recommend these to put you in a Christmas mood.

I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.

I love stories set during the Christmas season. This collection includes three novella's set in England.

Meet Me Under the Kissing Bough is a sweet story about love after loss. Two fully grown adults try to find their way to love during a house party that she is hosting. Expectations and society make it difficult for them to be together, but love can find a way.

This story made me smile. I loved the stolen moments between the couple.

is a little more complex. For some unknown reason, two families have been at odds for years. After the marriage of Julia's older sister to Esmond's older brother, you would assume that the relationship can be mended. If anything it gets worse. The two work together to uncover the secrets while falling in love.

Esmond knows what he wants and it is Julia. He seemed like a character that is fun and sincere. He has a playful side that helped Julia trust him and let down her guard while they are together. This is a story that includes a bit of a Christmas miracle.

A Christmas Correspondence has a young lady who has not been treated right in the past and lets everyone know she is not happy. She is a terror to the young men who become her acquaintance. She belittles everyone around her and thinks she is superior. Letters from her deceased father help her find a new way to live.

I didn't realize when I started this book that it was a twist on "A Christmas Carol." I started to put two and two together as I progressed in the story. There were enough changes that made it its own story. This book shows that lives can be changed and hearts softened.

I loved this anthology of Christmas stories.

The first story was of a widow and a widower and their relationship. She is finally having her traditional house party after five years, Deborah's warmth and caring as a hostess is evident. Add a sprinkle of mischief from her mother as she tries to navigate feelings for another man after her husband's death. This sweet story was warm and inviting, everything a Christmas Story should be. Bring on the Hallmark movie.

The second story in this anthology was a follow up from a story found in a Hopeful Christmas which was published last year. In it we find a little more in the mystery of why the two families are feuding. This story brought a couple together and the families as they find common ground. It teaches us that sometimes silence is the most damaging.

The third story brought to mind A Christmas Carol in subtle yet noticeable ways. It took me a little bit before I caught all the parallels, but one I saw them they were every where. In spite of this, I found the story fresh and wanted more.

These three romances were a perfect anthology. I may have to curl up with a blanket, a hot cocoa, and read it again to greet the holidays.

This was a great collection of Christmas stories! They definitely put me in the holiday mood - I can't wait until Christmas is here and I can break out my decorations and start participating in all of our Christmas traditions.

I liked how unique all of these stories were. These stories were great stories of growth, forgiveness, and finding love at Christmas time. They also each worked perfectly as a novella, which is awesome for something to read around the holidays when life is busy but you still want to fit in a quick enjoyable read.

Thanks to the authors for the early copy; all thoughts are my own.

These three novellas are a bright bit of holiday fun. Kilpack's story had a bit too much angst and body ogling for my taste but I appreciated the growth of Deborah as a character. I enjoyed spending time with another of the Hunt sisters in Walker's Healing Hearts, although I found Alice's romance from The Holly and the Ivy more fun. Having not read the introduction I was surprised to find myself in the middle of an A Christmas Carol retelling. Not using ghosts made some of the motivations a stretch, but McConkie actually made it work better than I would have thought and I think it ends up my favorite story of the three.

Meet Me Under the Kissing Bough by Josi S. Kilpack: A widow and widower work through their developing romance at a a Regency English countryside Christmas house party and the objections to it, a struggle with class that seems to have been such a common issue from that time period. I loved the descriptions of what a 12-night Christmastide event would have been like and actually wanted more and to know what happened during each and every day. It was an enjoyable romance and main characters, but for me I wanted more from it, a bit more backstory to the house party (yes, it's mentioned several times how they came to connect). It was sweetm and the children were adorable and could have made more of an appearance as well to further develop the story (wanting more of these details is usually my struggle with novellas and I do know it about my personal expectations going into any novella ha ha). The heartache and struggles of finding love and companionship after the loss of a spouse is very present and how to navigate it all, personally and with other loved ones.

Healing Hearts for the Holidays by Anneka R. Walker: This one was fun! The love Julia has for her sisters and dad and how that ties into the plot was the main star of this novella, as well as how it tied into the romantic side of it and the finding of the letters and working to resolve the family feud between Julia's and Esmond's families and being able to finally admit their feelings for one another as well and work towards a future together. Loved this one!! Darling! And well-developed in a shorter/novella format.

A Christmas Correspondence by Sarah L. McConkie: This one was cute but very predictable, and Caroline was annoying. This was based off of Dickens's A Christmas Carol, wherein you see Caroline have a change of heart for her ways, and there were good moments and a good morale, but it just didn't come off quite the same and as powerful, to me, as the original. It was still a good novella, and I did enjoy it. I just felt it could have been developed or certain aspects of the story could have moved along better or had more details to develop it better.

Overall, an enjoyable collection of Regency Christmastime stories.

This is a generous 3, I really didn't like any of them very much. The first book I would have enjoyed more because I liked the main characters and I like love after death sort of books, but I guess I have had my fill of meddling mothers in books and the mother in this was a bit much.
The 2nd book was ok. The girl in it was kind of an idiot... why she thought it would be a good idea to go sit in the snow when she was already fighting a cold is beyond me...
The 3rd book, I was warned it was not very good and so I think I could enjoy it more expecting that. Also, once I caught on that it was a spin off a Christmas Carol, it helped it make a bit more sense. I did not like the girl in it though, and I don't care how anyone is raised, she really never should have turned out so nasty... She was all rough then would get offended and it really got old. I liked the guy overall...

Pretty good collection! The second story by Anneka Walker was the best one, actually a continuation of a story I read in another compilation - but can't remember the name of! Sarah McConkie's sorry was good except it came together a little too quickly. It would have made more sense if John and Caroline had met up again a few months later or even the next Christmas, and he learned of how she had changed. Completely turning into another person in 2 days seemed a bit far fetched! (And she was a real snotty!)

Such a sweet collection of Christmas stories!

I thoroughly enjoyed each of the three stories even though they were all so different from each other. The first story was especially sweet! I loved the themes of forgiveness, of acceptance, and of second chances, and the romance in each story was very sweet!

Three superb stories that will make you long for Christmas
This book contains three wonderful stories of love sometimes in unexpected places and events.
The first is Meet Me Under the Kissing Bough and is filled with wonderful characters trying to find their way through life. Deborah is a widow and has not entertained since her husband’s death but she now has decided to host a house party for Christmas. Among those invited is Phillip Dempsey a good friend of her husband before his death and a true friend since then. Phillip, a widower himself, checked on Deborah regularly bringing his own sons who joined with Deborah’s in mischief. Now Deborah is beginning to look for new beginnings but what happens when her mother rejects Phillip outright? How important is social standing? How important is love?
The second, Healing Hearts for the Holidays. Julia is forbidden to interact with the people living in the manor house even if one is her sister, Ivy. Ivy is expecting and doing very poorly. Julia is her only solace as she sneaks in and out of both her house and the manor house. Esmond, Ivy’s brother-in-law, catches Julia but only to help her escape. As the visits continue secrets of what has caused the estrangement between the two families come to light. Can the pull of family and the revealing of secrets help all heal from their wounds?
The third is Christmas correspondence and is a new twist on a Christmas Carol. John Charleston has been tasked by his father to carry a letter to Lady Caroline Morleigh. With the death of Caroline’s father and the death of John’s father, the delivery had been delayed but still was required. When John approaches Caroline with his humble appearance she wants to quickly dismiss him but her father’s letter requires they continue on together. Over the course of their travels with her aunt as chaperone, the past reviewed and the present evaluated. Where will the Christmas season fine them? I received an early copy and this is my honest review.

This was a sweet and fun collection of clean Regency novellas! I had not read any of the authors in this collection before and am happy to have found all three of them. Each novella contained a story where it seemed unlikely that the hero and heroine would be able to work things out and actually end up together for a variety of reasons. I appreciated that all of the stories contained scenes at Christmas, including a kissing bough, yet they were all very different plots.

I could feel the pain of loss and the uncertainty of new love that Deborah battled in Meet Me Under the Kissing Bough. Julia and Esmond were so perfect for each other in Healing Hearts for the Holidays, yet the anger and hurt that Julia’s father carried was hard to overcome. And in A Christmas Correspondence, Lady Caroline was not at all a likable character for much of book, however, her awakening and journey to being a better person and finding love ended up being a very sweet tale.

(4.5 stars)

Meet Me Under The Kissing Bough by Josi Kilpack - This was a fun Christmas read. I enjoyed all the different traditions. Deborah and Phillip were so sweet. Deborah is in a tough situation and is struggling to find her footing. I enjoyed seeing how she navigated everything and found herself and her happiness.

Healing Hearts for the Holidays by Anneka Walker - I loved being back at Ravencross and seeing this family's happy ending. We first meet the families in Lord Blakely's Gift in the Christmas anthology A Hopeful Christmas. Esmond and Julia are wonderful characters who want what is best for their families. Their story is sweet and wonderful. I really enjoyed getting to know them and seeing their families again.

A Christmas Correspondence by Sarah McConkie -This was an interesting retelling of The Christmas Carol. I liked the way it was done. John and his family were such wonderful people. I loved how they took Caroline in and loved her without judgement. I enjoyed reading about her journey and change of heart.

I received a complimentary copy from the publisher through Netgalley and this is my honest review.

I love a good Christmas romance! So a book with multiple Christmas stories in it is even better! This one was a lot of fun to read. It made me smile. I love that you can get through one of the stories in it easily in a day.

Meet Me Under the Kissing Bough by Josi S Kilpack is first in the book. I loved Deborah. She is a kind and gracious hostess. She just wants to get through her Christmas party. One thing that was so great about this one was being able to learn a little more about the historical Christmas traditions of the English. That was fascinating. There is a fun love story with a misunderstanding. I loved the characters and the ending of this one was great!

Next up is Anneka R Walker’s Healing Hearts for the Holidays. I loved this one too! Julia is such a kind and loving girl. She wants nothing more than to visit her sick sister, who she has been forbidden to visit. I loved how she and Esmond find the letters from their parents, letters that had never been read. This one had such a cute story!

Last up is A Christmas Correspondence by Sarah L McConkie. I loved this author’s take on the classic, A Christmas Carol. Lady Caroline is truly awful in this one. I loved the way she was forced to grow through the story. And I loved John and his sweet family. The ending of this one was truly satisfying. The perfect way to end the book.

I loved this book! Make sure to read it before Christmas!

I was sent a copy of Meet Me Under the Kissing Bough as a gift from the author. All opinions are my own.

Meet Me Under the Kissing Bough was a lovely reminder of second chances and trusting your own heart.

Meet Me Under the Kissing Bough shares three historical fiction romance novellas set in the Regency period in England. The stories are each unique ranging from a second chance to love, forbidden romance and a new twist on the Dicken's classic A Christmas Carol. I found each of these stories to be fun, enjoyable, and relaxing reads. I liked how they all explored accepting change and something new in their own way. The stories didn't feel like just a romance, but also seemed like they were trying to share stories of hope, forgiveness and love. I felt like these stories touched on the Christmas spirit in a fun and creative way.

Please note that I received a free ebook to review, however, this is my honest opinion.

Romance, sweet, period; Christmas
Lovely collection of Christmas novellas. Each one unique and sweetly drawn. Sometimes one or more of the novellas aren't as strong as the others, but that was not the case with the collection. Truly each one is really well done. Strong characters, lovely settings, and of course, the theme of the Kissing bough in each one.
One of the benefits of an anthology for me, is not having to wait so long for the ending! It is easy to sit down and read one and get the satisfaction of easily finishing a lovely novella.

I was entertained by these short stories set during the Christmas season.  Each was unique and had many good points!  I enjoyed Kilpack's heroine's strength to stand on her own, I appreciated the connections to an earlier Christmas anthology entry as well as the conflict and it's resolution in Walker's story, and I loved the nods to Dickens in McConkie's entry.

This book contains three sweet stories around Christmas by three wonderful authors. Each story has its own storyline and is not connected to the other stories except for the fact that they are all sweet, clean stories and the timelines are all around the Christmas holiday. Each story has a happy ending.

I have very much enjoyed reading this book this week. I was familiar with two of the three author's in this book and I look forward to reading more by the other author.

I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my honest review.

Lovely Christmas Anthology

I love these short story collections. They are perfect for those times when I don't have time to devote to a full novel, but I just need a quick getaway.

This is three books by three authors and I would give the first one 4 stars, the second 3 stars and the third one 2 stars. On the last one Caroline is such a terrible person that it was hard to like her, even though she improved at the end. These are all short stories and overall worth the read but be warned that the last one is not very good.
