Writing is my bliss and I try to write every day. I started with two publishers who I learned a lot from. Now I self publish. I like the control it gives me over release dates and book covers.
The book is the final in the series, Mail Order Brides of Pine Crossing. This is a clean, inspirational western with a diverse cast of characters. The two people brought together, paired up by none other than the bride, are the most unlikely of couples. The story is full of angst, mystery, suspense, secrets, lies, and trouble.
As opposite as night and day, two sisters will leave their home, the city, their belongings, and travel to Pine Crossing. The oldest, Stephanie, is a self-centered, pretentious snob, always backbiting her younger sister, Aggie. Aggie has a kind heart, loves the Lord, and isn't afraid of hard work. They had been matchmakers, but Stephanie wasn't reading the letters and started making unsuitable matches, and people were demanding refunds. Now, Stephanie has a groom, and Aggie is left tagging along.
"This is Stephanie, my sister, your bride. And I am Aggie, the spinster sister."
Tate Ackerman is a mountain man who has sent off for a bride, one that is willing to live on the mountain, away from people, and content living off the land. He has moved to town for the winter and built a solid but small cabin. There was no mention of a sister tagging along, but he welcomes both of them. He is a little shocked at the bride he has been matched with.
The story's plot will have Stephanie and Aggie traveling to Pine Crossing, utterly different from living in the city. Stephanie is a user and abuser of people, especially Aggie, and knows just how to belittle and manipulate. She thinks so highly of herself and so poorly of those around her. It doesn't take long for the people of Pine Crossing to see the true Stephanie and Aggie. Tate made a promise, one that might be a big regret, but one he feels he must honor, and that is to marry Stephanie. If there are two people so ill-suited, it is Tate and Stephanie.
"Stephanie was beautiful, but only on the outside, not inside where it counted."
"Sometimes doing what's best is hard on everyone."
The story will have so much angst caused by Stephanie. She expects everything of Aggie while belittling her constantly. The story will take on life and death danger during a blizzard—and then issues escalate. Aggie must go, and Stephanie makes sure that happens. The next part of her plan includes convincing Tate to build a mansion in town for her. Stephanie expects an elegant wedding and decides that most of the town's people aren't up to her standards and aren't invited, even though it is the Christmas celebration for everyone. When she learns that she can't manipulate Tate, she calls off the wedding. See, God does answer the prayers of His children. That opens the door for Tate and Aggie, two people who are both kind-hearted and down-to-earth.
Aggie: I have a few faults you might not appreciate. I'm gullible and give away too much. I can't seem to say no. Tate: You have the biggest heart of anyone I've ever known. I don't think you are gullible. I see you as naïve. You grew up sheltered from the unsavory things life offers. It's not a fault. In fact, I find it endearing. I was saved from a fate worse than... You know something, you and I were invariably meant to be together."
Spoilers This book kept my interest and I finished it in 1 day. It was a sad story of a woman who had been put down and criticized her whole life, but eventually came to realize that she had value. It was not your typical love story as she and her sister had a mail order bride service and arrived at the small town where the older sister was supposed to marry. Her groom was not what she expected. He lived up in the mountains and expected her to return with him after they were married. She turned out to be a lazy, spoiled, vindictive woman but he was committed to keeping his word. After a lot of deceit and manipulation, the wedding is called off and Tate marries the younger sister who is sweet and kind hearted. All through the book I was hoping that Stephanie would get what she deserved. Kathleen's books are not all easy to read because there is a lot of heartache, but there is always a happily ever after. I enjoyed reading Tate and Aggie's story.

This is a beautiful Cinderella type story of two sisters who were matchmakers. Stephanie was the evil selfish and manipulative sister and her sister Aggie was the sweet, kind and long suffering sister. Stephanie had put Aggie down for years and criticized her constantly. As the women worked in the matchmaking busy, Stephanie just haphazardly matched couples, many who were very unhappy and vowed to close their business and run the girls out of town. Stephanie matched herself up to a groom never considering what Aggie would do and the girls headed west. Stephanie's groom was Tate Ackerman, a mountain man, and when the girls arrived he and Stephanie could not stand each other yet Tate felt he had to honor his commitment. In the meantime, Aggie began to realize she in fact had worth, and her sweetness and kindness did not go unnoticed by the town's people. In the meantime, Stephanie's selfishness, critical spirit and high hat ways turned many in town off. Poor Aggie, she began to realize she really liked Tate but felt she had to keep it a deep dark secret. What will happen when all of the secrets, deception and ugliness of Stephanie comes to light? Will Aggie and Tate be able to form a relationship and reach a HEA? Be sure to read this outstanding story to find out. I know you will enjoy it as much as I did.
Stephanie and Aggie were sisters who had a mail-order bride business that went south because Stephanie randomly put couples together. When the complaints became very loud, they had to leave town quickly.
They head to Pine Crossing, where Stephanie is to marry a mountain man. However, they are ill-suited because Stephanie has illusions of being in high society, and Tate is an ordinary man. So, Tate delays the wedding until he can figure out what to do. Aggie comes along to Pine Crossing, hoping to find a husband. However, it soon becomes evident that Stephanie is selfish and does not want her sister to thrive.
I thought some situations were somewhat contrived, and Stephanie was "the evil sister." One sister was evil, and the other one was all goodness. It would have been more interesting if the sisters weren't such opposites. Although this is the third of three stories, it is a stand-alone.
Mail Order Brides of Pine Crossing 1. Alanna (2021) 2. Briana (2021) ** 3. Aggie (2021)
Aggie and her sister Stephanie ran a Mail Order Bride agency until Stephanie's mistakes in pairing up couples meant that they had to leave town. They travelled to Pine Crossing where Stephanie was due to marry Tate, a mountain man, however as normal for this type of story things don't go to plan. Stephanie is shocked that he isn't the businessman that she was expecting and he struggles to find her attractive beyond her physical appearance. Stephanie comes across as a totally spoilt woman, whereas Aggie is sweet and loveable who tries her best to please. I kept my fingers crossed that things would turn out for the best, I won't spoil the ending but this story shows again what the men and women went through in those times to find someone to marry. I do enjoy American Historical Romances and this is a fine example of the type. I received an advance copy of this book from the author, however this did not influence my review of the book and I also had pre-ordered it.

Aggie and her sister, Stephanie, ran a marriage bureau in St Louis, but had to leave as Stephanie just matched people up without seeing if they would fit or not. Aggie had a different attitude, but Stephanie overrode her, she's not a very nice person. They catch a stagecoach to Pine Crossing, where Stephanie thinks she's been writing to a rich man. When they arrive they are met by Tate, not a rich man, more a mountain man, Stephanie is not impressed! Time passes and the wedding isn't held as they need to get to know each other a lot more. Tate thinks he's made a mistake and prefers Aggie, but isn't going to change his mind about Stephanie as he's a man of his word. Things change though. Will Stephanie get her comeuppance?! A great read from Kathleen. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Stephanie and Aggie were run out of St Louis for poor business practices. They ended up in Pine Crossing, Wyoming where Stephanie was going to be a Mail order bride. How these two women were sisters was highly debatable. Stephanie was high class, high maintenance, entitled, self-centered, rude, lazy, mean, and right down evil. Aggie on the other hand was exactly the opposite. She was a friend to everyone, always willing to lend a helping hand, thoughtful, and loved her sister doing everything for her. The person left to make sense of two was Tate, Stephanie's fiance, and he spent a great deal of time praying for a different outcome for himself as he was a man of his word. A spiritual read with never a dull moment to be had. You just never knew what Stephanie might pull next. It's a shame this was the book in the series. A wonderful story.
Aggie and Stephanie were sisters buut different like night and day. Stephanie was a taker, spoiled liar and had no reguard for anyone but herself. Aggie was the caring, somewhat obvious, and friendly sister. Forced by Stephanie's actions a mail order bride they ran is under fire and becoming one is the only answer. Although it is Stephanie to e the bride, Aggie becomes the person he will want. Jealousy and self arrogance will put many livesin peril , finally her own. Aggie will endure, survive and have her turn at love. Patience and grace, a willingness to help and care, and accepting what is ,will bring Aggie to have her husband and friends. Great moving story and lesson on humility and endurance.
Kathleen Ball is such a enjoyable writer. Aggie comes to Pine crossing with her sister who was expecting to marry, Tate. Tate is a mountain man, he loves the mountains, the beauty of the mountains has always pleased him. Tate was to marry Aggie’s sister who turned out to be a wicked woman, she called the wedding off. Aggie’s sister told Aggie that they were not sisters and she was just a maid. Tate was shocked to see how Aggie was being treated by her sister and was happy when Aggie’s sister called the wedding off. This is a well written book. Very enjoyable. So much going on between Aggie and her sister. Need to read.
A beautiful book where love won out! Aggie is such a sweetheart of the two sisters and Stephanie really is not a likable character. I loved Tate Stephanie and a mountain man how delicious! I admit it did take Aggie and Tate to realize just what God had planned. I enjoyed seeing how their friendship grew it was sweetly done by the author. Oh, what drama was in the book too. It was a really good story and I highly recommend it. I did receive a free copy of this book from Booksprout and voluntarily chose to review it
Aggie and her sister Stephanie lost their Matchmaking business and were run out of town because of Stephanie's mismatching clients. So Stephanie decides to do one last match and she heads to Pine Crossing with Aggie in tow. Tate is the mountain man Stephanie decided to match herself with but they were nothing alike. Aggie was a perfect match with Tate. This is a sweet, heartwarming journey of love filled with many obstacles, angst, drama, and even some danger. This is a well written story with believable characters and a great ending. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
Another sweet mail order bride in Pine Crossing. This is the story of Tate Ackerman who requested a bride to share his life on his mountain but ended up with a prospective bride that doesn’t seem to like him, his way of life, or the town. His mail order bride is a real piece of work, but she arrives with her sister Aggie who is the better of the two. This story has a lot of twists and turns, deception, and of course a happy ending. Don’t miss this new sweet romance from Kathleen Ball!
This was an interesting story filled with a evil sister named Stephanie and a sweet sister named Aggie. Stephanie had to flee their home town due to her crooked practices running a mail order agency. Her sister Aggie was treated poorly be Stephanie . Very interesting, Stephanie and her trying to swindle and terminate people in Pine Crossing . Great story, enjoy.
Stephanie came to town as a Mail Order Bride, She brought her sister, Aggie with her, Tate was the groom and Stephanie tried to rule everyone, Aggie almost died at her hand, then Tate broke up with her, the Stephanie went after the hotel owner, Stanley. Almost poisoned him and took his hotel Tate saved the hotel and Stanley. Stephanie went jail for her life, Tate and Aggie got married and lived happy ever after. Thank you Kathleen Ball. I Love your books.
Book 3 in the Pine Crossing series. However, you can read this with no issues not reading other others.
Kathleen Ball. She is a great writer that gets emotion out of me every time I read a book of hers. I wanted to throttle one of the characters and then knock another over the head. UGH! This is good. Why? Getting the reader involved and invested in the story is key. The story was great and transpired wonderfully. The characters are fantastic as well.
Aggie and her sister Stephanie own a matchmaking agency but when her sister creates a mixup they run to Pine Crossing so Stephanie can marry a business owner but when they arrive she mixed up the letter and it is mountain man Tate who shows up as her fiancee. Beautiful Stephanie is a spoiled cruel person who always puts Aggie down while Aggie is a sweet hard worker always helping others. This is a sweet romance with good characters with a ending that is just as it should be.
It was great to read Tate's story. He and Aggie make a wonderful couple and have a wonderful story. They went through much to get to their HEA. Stephanie is one evil sister. It was great seeing characters from the previous 2 books in the series. I love that the author included an epilogue also!! If you love good, clean western romance with some mystery and suspense, you will love this book.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Two stars, the storyline was confusing. Aggie was the bunt in the wrath of her spoiled sister. The engagement of her sister and the mountain man Tate was not going well. He was confused especially with his growing attraction to Aggie. A lot was not wrap up , the Indian problem, did they find the judge who was working with her sister, and the ending. She was going to have a baby, next chapter it was years later and its her grandchildren.
In this one the matchmakers are the brides. There's confusion about which sister Tate should marry. Stephanie is up to her same unhappy self while Aggie is the kind hearted sister. It took awhile for things to work out but true love prevails. There's intrigue, indians and is the judge fake or real. It all makes for an interesting read.
I loved this story and was so glad I had a chance to read this book. The story was so riveting that I read it all in one sitting! Nice to read another book in the series about the mail order brides of Pine Crossing. Perfect book to read at Christmas because part of story takes place during Christmas time.
Thankfully I’ve never known a Stephanie, maybe some that might come close, but none as evil. Aggie was so nice she made an easy victim for Stephanie. Tate Ackerman, like Aggie, was a nice guy, luckily he wasn’t quite as gullible as Aggie. I loved watching Aggie grow a backbone and yet, still be hopeful and sweet. I enjoyed this book by Kathleen Ball.
What a story! This is book three in the Mail Order Brides of Pine Crossing series the story has a great storyline and is well written and kept me turning pages. Two sisters come to Pine Crossing they are very different from each other, they meet Tate. I was very happy to see how this story turned out. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Aggie was with her sister, Stephanie, as they traveled for her to become a mail order bride. When they were met by a mountain man instead of a rich business man, Stephanie was sure and disappointed. Aggie tried her best not to fall for Tate but Stephanie accused her of trying to catch his attention.
The story line was a good one. I just felt it could have been developed a bit more. Aggie is a gem, but annoyingly spineless and clueless where her evil sister is concerned. The ending was satisfying, albeit a bit abrupt, and again, a bit lacking in detail. Apart from that, a good enough story.
2 sisters traveling to become MOB. Stephanie and Aggie ran the MOB office but shut it down and made their last trip to meet Stephanie’s groom. What transpires from a life of jealousy between sisters is quit the story! Aggie does find true love while her sister lost out!!
Aggie Mail Order Brides of Pine Crossing Book Three
This is the third book in this series and it is a good story about Aggie who travels with her sister who is a selfish and hateful woman but aggie is a praying person and finds happiness
Fast paced. Great character development. Aggie true Christian and able to move forward and believe in herself. Tate thoughtful and patient about moving forward. Would like to read more in this series.
I enjoyed the story as the author showed how sisters , even half sisters can be diabolical. I loved how Tate built Aggie up and she finally stood up for herself. Well written with characters you either love or hate.
