RUN OR DON'T (Fossil, Colorado Books #3) (127,625 words) Jules Ward’s had a stalker for five months, but she doesn’t take him seriously until he leaves the head of a slaughtered bull elk in her driveway. Beck Ford is back in Fossil, a town he’s making is new home. The minute he meets Jules, he knows she’s the one. Beck owns a security company. Two of the Ward brothers, and their dad, are law enforcement. None of them expects the stalker hounding Jules to be brazen enough to grab her off Fossil’s Main Street. Jules has been taking care of herself for years, but nothing could have prepared her for what happens next. Beck recognizes that there are bad people in the world, but when they’re bat-shit crazy, well, that’s not something he’s dealt with before. Jules is somewhere in the mountains. Beck doesn’t know exactly where, but he’s determined to find her. He’s praying she’ll still be alive when he does.
Ann Simas lives in Oregon, but she is a Colorado girl at heart, having grown up in the Rocky Mountains. An avid word-lover since childhood, she penned her first fiction “book” in high school. She particularly likes to write a mix of mystery-thriller-suspense with a love story and paranormal/supernatural elements. Simas currently has 25 books in print. Both are available in paperback and in ebook format.
An award-winning watercolorist and a budding photographer, Ann also enjoys needlework and gardening in her spare time. She is her family’s “genealogist” and has been blessed with the opportunity to conduct first-hand research in Italy for both her writing and her family tree. The genealogy research from century’s old documents, written in Italian, has been a supreme but gratifying and exciting challenge for her.
This book can be read as a standalone, but I think it would be more enjoyable if the reader has read the previous books. There are so many characters and so many connections between them that it is easy to get lost!
Stalkers can be crazy scary, but the MC in this book doesn't seem to take her stalker seriously. I found this to be a little unbelievable since all of her family are in law enforcement! Then, there is the instalove between Jules and Beck, along with the numerous sex scenes, which were a bit of a turn off for me. I enjoy romantic suspense, but this book was heavy on the sex. I found myself skipping a lot of the "action".
All in all, this wasn't a bad book and was well-written, but it tended to drag for me. If you really enjoy romantic suspense with lots of sex, you will probably enjoy this book. For me, Jules was too much of a horror movie heroine who doesn't seem to understand the predicament she is truly in! I was given the chance to read this book through Candid Book Reviews and chose to review it.
Another Ann Simas book that once you pick.it up and start reading you can't put it down until you've read every last word! The Fossil Colorado series is one that allows you to the real.strength of women when most would.see them as victims. The men who love them have to be strong enough to be an equal partner but not overpowering. A stalker is a scary thing and this unfolded in a way and with a twist that I didn't see coming. Like I said, once you start, you can't put it down! I can't wait for the next book in the series!!
Run or Don't, the third book in the Fossil, Colorado series is outstanding and holds up well against the first two books. This book is filled with romance as the two main characters struggle against a stalker/kidnapper to find their happily ever after. Run or Don't is filled with unexpected twists and turns, and an ending that I never saw coming. It kept me up long past my bedtime. I strongly urge everyone to read this book. You won't be disappointed!!!
The third book in the Fossil, Colorado Book series a suspense story that kept me turning pages. Jules Ward and Beck Ford's story of suspense, drama, danger, twists, turns, very twisted villains, murder, and romance. I have to ask how many times can one woman get kidnapped? I would recommend.
