A decent place to start, but disappointing in that this is supposed to be authoritative. Cursory knowledge without much depth at any point.

The English academic side of me also wants it to be a better piece of writing. But it’s not. It’ll do in a pinch, I suppose.

This book is very useful in getting you started on the whole layout of bourbon and how it's produced and a little about the history. Highly recommend for those serious about learning Americas national spirit
