From the author of the bestselling Broke & Bullied Series, an all-new opposites attract sports romance!
She asked me to kiss her. Some girl I didn't even know. A classy rich girl, not even close to my type. I shouldn't have done it. But I did. That was my first mistake.
My second one? Letting what I started with her turn into something more.
I'm putting everything at risk. Free ride at a private school. Being quarterback of a winning team. The chance for a new life, maybe even a career in the pros.
Guys like me don't get chances like that, and if they do, they don't blow it. But here I am, risking everything to be with her. Only to find out she belongs to someone else.

I really appreciate this author's realistic, nuanced description of poverty, especially the pervasive nature of its effects on a person. I read a lot of authors that try to describe a life in the projects, but Kai Juniper captures it with a rare and important authenticity. He gives his stories a depth and relevance that's hard to find.
Perhaps even more impressive is that none of this takes away from the romance. It doesn't get preachy or overwhelming. Rather, the author these struggles enrich the maturity of the characters' connection and story.
Brett is my kind of hero. He has that quiet strength and awareness that I find unbearably sexy. He's humble, and good, and he takes care of the people he loves. I liked Claire too. I got frustrated with her, too, but it never felt like she was stupid or that she was behaving irrationally just to ramp up drama. There were times wouldn't stand up for herself or understand her power, but I think a lot of 17-year-old girls have that problem. I know I did. I'm hoping I get to witness that change for her in the sequel.
This is a wonderful story. It's thoughtful and riveting, and the romance is strong. I'm really excited to read the conclusion of the duet.
I love this book. You be shock who the bully is and isn't!!! I have not been disappointed in any of MS. Juniper books.. But I think this is my favorite!!! A must read series.❤
Such a slow burn, but I love this author’s writing style, it flows smoothly and feels realistic. I like the dynamic between these characters and I will definitely read the second book.
