Another sizzling and steamy read from Lexxi james!!! I love her A Sinful soldier series set in the world of BDSM. I can name on one hand how many of this genre I've read but her toe dipping into this genre is marvelously done with class and style. We all have kink's and some are hard core and others just little things that turn us on. In book 2 Rising Jake and Kathryn are learning more about each other and the roles of Dom and submissive but for a woman like Kathryn its learning what's expected and she's figuring out things that set her body on fire and one of them is rope play. But with a new job working for her ex husband at the hospital and helping Paco and Detective Delaney to figure out who the psycho mystery woman is that is stalking and trying to kidnap celebrity Troy brooks and going to sex clubs with bff gay as the day is long the hot sexy Julian its a wonder she has time for learning to tie knots and keeping up with the insatiable Jake. Jake is very take charge and his punishment's every girls wet dream but is he looking for a third person to quench his darker side or is kathryn in a world way over her head. Loads of passions and A- amazing sex and lots of laughs and a little romantic suspense and a twist that I never saw coming! Is what makes this a must read! And with new characters and some old friends like Paco and Julian both unique and funny as fuck. Kathryn is lucky to have these two for best friends. I think maybe these two will hook up down the road! What a book that will be Julian's vibe is sexy hot and flamboyant and attention seeking, while Paco is Sexy hot and secretive and totally in control ! Love this series and can't wait for more! Lexxi James did her homework on this book! I wonder how she did her research inquiring minds want to know 😁 Love this lady! The heroine: Kathryn Chase - formerly an army nurse, she now works as an insurance investigator. She is newly engaged to Jake Russo and has worked with him on some of her investigations.

The Hero(es): Jake Russo - he is a cyber crime expert and master hacker. He is also extremely wealthy and was in the Army during the gulf war. Kathryn saved him at the time and he has been watching over her since he got back.

The story:When Kathryn wanted to learn more about BDSM, her good friend Paco Robles introduced her to Jake. He has been her Dom ever since, though they have been moving slowly and have yet to go to a BDSM club together. When Kathryn finds out that Jake has been visiting some local clubs without her, she is determined to figure out why.

I liked this story and the fact that it delved deeper into the BDSM lifestyle and world. It was much steamier than the first book, though that was pretty steamy as well. I like the relationship between Kat and Jake and especially how they end up working together in so many things.

The supporting characters were awesome, especially Paco and Julian. They are both gay men that are hot and sexy as well. Paco is mysterious as ever and Julian is always good for a laugh. There is suspense as well and danger. I won’t go into the plot but to say that I really liked it.

Rising is book 2 in the Sinful Soldier Romance series. All i can say is Hot. Kathryn and Jake have such great chemistry.  It just jumps off the pages. This book isn't just scorching, it will make you laugh with suspense thrown in. Loved it

Lexxi James does it again. This story just keeps you entertained. Kathryn, aka kitten, is ready to experience the quiet world of BDSM. Recently engaged to Jake, but not yet acknowledge as his sub, Kathryn turns to her bestie to help her gain an understanding of the BDSM society. Jake, doesn’t take kindly to his kitten’s decision to venture into the private club without him. Needless to say Jake is very capable of punishment doling. Kathryn gets thrown out of her element when Jake tells exactly what the punishment is, does she submit? Kathryn and Jake begin working on a case regarding a stalker following a known associate of Paco. Researching the photos of the case, Kathryn decides she has seen ropes like those in the photos. Sleuthing around Jake’s place she comes across some rope and she starts to YouTube “how to” knot tie. When she decides she is sure she needs to get out of the ties, it become apparent that these specific knots tighten when you move too much. Shear panic takes hold, she doesn’t want to be caught by Jake. She phones her bestie, he takes some photos to use as proof, but before he can feee her, Jake comes home. Time for punishment? It just happened that Julian and Kathryn both saw a receipt for a very expensive item, so the decide to see if the jeweler would share what it was. The only information gained from the jeweler sends Kathryn into turmoil that Jake has another sub, could it be true? There is such steam and heat that you will want to keep reading until the end. Oh, the secrets. The lies. The heartbreak. Jake really made me dislike him for a while here. When Kathryn is faced with the truth of where he’s been and what he’s likely been up to, she has to decide how much she’s worth. And she comes to the conclusion that she’s worth more than she’s been given. I don’t blame her. Yet she’s got some secrets also. Granted, hers are nowhere near as painful or explosive, but they’re there.

This read managed to annoy me a few times, make me happy and sad, and then give the conclusion that I’d dared not hope for. It was a good continuation of the love between Jake and Kathryn, while proving to be somewhat realistic with the growing pains that relationships can face.

This follow-up to Fallen sees Jake and Kathryn involved in another case, providing drama and added suspsense to their new life as Dom and Sub. Unfortunately, this is where I was a bit disappointed. I expected Jake to really take the lead and introduce her deeper into the lifestyle, his kinks and maybe a club. But no. Instead, he is worried about his ex and lies to Kathryn about his whereabouts - all in the name of surprising her later. The scenes that are there a steamier than in the first book and show a dynamic between the two I would have liked to have seen more of. What I loved, like in the first book, is the cast of supporting chararcters, especially Julian and Paco. Everyone should have friends like that and I sincerely hope that we will get to read their stories soon! As a duet, Jake's and Kathryn's story will keep you well entertained.

This is book two in the Sinful Soldier Romance Series, and it is a fantastic read. I loved the first book, and this second one is just as good, if not better.

I love the sex positive theme of this story.

It is awesome how interested Kathryn is in the BDSM world, how she takes charge of her sexuality and looks into things that interest her. That she does all of this for herself, but also to get to know Jake better.

I loved the relationship development between Kathryn and Jake and the mystery, suspense, intrigue, steam, and sexiness of the storyline.

I definitely recommend this book and cannot wait for more from this amazing author.

When I agreed to read and review “Rising” I didn’t realize it was the second part of a story. I’m glad I didn’t notice because I might have skipped it and missed out on a good romantic suspense story and a ‘new to me’ author whose work whose work I now know I like.

Kathryn is a registered nurse and a tenacious insurance investigator. Jake is an EMT and a whole lot more. He also happens to be a Dom in the BDSM world. Kathryn wants to learn all about the lifestyle with him as her teacher. They’re both navigating a dangerous mystery while they try to simultaneously navigate their relationship.

Although I would’ve had a quicker understanding of the roles of some key secondary characters if I’d read the previous the previous book, the author did such a good job telling this story that I was able to follow all the action just fine. And there is plenty of action! This is a fast-moving story with plenty of intrigue and deception, humor and drama, confusion and revelation. I thought it was entertaining. I also enjoyed the ending and I’m curious to see what comes next.

Lexxi James has written a 5-star book. This is the story of Kathryn and Jake. Kathryn and Jake are a couple and he is into DBSM and she is his sub. This book is about a mystery involving Troy and someone is out to get him. Kathryn is asked to find out who. There are a few twists and turns, misunderstandings that will keep you reading just to find out what is going to happen next. The misunderstanding is between Kathryn and Jake and she says the one word a Dom doesn't want to hear and it is Red. He tells her he would stop but things are not over between them.
If you are a fan of an Alpha Dom and his sassy sub mixed in with a mystery, then this is the book for you.
Can Kathryn find out who is after Troy?
Can she and Jake work things out between them?
This was a wonderful book and I would recommend it to anyone.

Kathryn works for Wolfe Investigations, as an investigative nurse. Her background as a combat army nurse come in handy during her investigations. She's smart and endlessly curious, which helps in her work but leads her astray in her relationship.

Jake Russo is rich beyond measure, a volunteer EMT, Cyber investigator and a Dom. Kathryn taught him how to love again and he want to do something special for his fiancé.

Jake is Kathryn's sexy, hot dominate fiancé but she knows very little about the BDSM lifestyle, except how turned on she is when Dom Jake comes out to play. Jake has been holding back and behaving oddly and she wants to know why.

Jake's odd behavior leads the smart, capable Kathryn I read at first to become stupid. While she's taking on a new job teaching at the hospital, and helping with a stalking case, she also starts to investigate Jake and BDSM. Leading to mischief and mayhem.

Her friends Paco and Julian are scene stealers as they share in the shenanigans of Jake and Kathryn in this story.

Great characters, funny and off the charts heat, I just have a few nigglies about their story.

This is the second book in the Sinful Soldier series. While the first book isn't required, you may feel like you are missing pieces of everyone's story if you haven't read the first book.

Nigglies:

-Relationships, especially BDSM relationships are about communication and honesty. Lack of both were issues in this story.

-There were several moments of confusion, that I had to let go because the answers were not forthcoming.

-There were scenes that seem to lead somewhere but are left as dangling threads, which I guess I'm supposed to fill in the blanks but I want to know where the author was going with it.

-The book starts with her at an interview for her dream job but it also says later she was born for her job at Wolf Investigations, so again I'm confused.

-Kathryn's supposed to be an investigator but the way she started investigating Dom/sub and dungeon life seemed out of order. Don't most research investigations start with reading about the subject matter before dropping into unknown situations?

-Why wasn't Jake leading and teaching her some of these things? He only seemed to play after she showed an interest in a particular BDSM activity.

This is a wonderful continuation of Jake and Kathryn's story as they navigate the relationship and an investigation while trying to carry on with their everyday lives. It is a fast paced story full of emotions with lots of mystery to keep the pages turning.

Kathryn is working hard trying to expand her nursing career, but that dangerously puts her in the line of her ex-husband. Something she is sure that will not make her new Dom so happy. As she is eager to learn more about what makes her Dom Jake happy, she wades into some uncharted territory for her.

Jake is so busy trying to create his new surprise for Kathryn. Keeping things on the secret and missing out on some special time with her. Will his surprise be enough to put that smile back on her face? Will this be the true start to their Dom/Sub part of their love?

A wonderful blend of the main characters and some pretty awesome secondary characters make this an enjoyable read. I would have like some more in depth time with Jake and Kathryn. A little more of him showing her his world of BDSM instead. I hope that with the final reveals, we will get to see some more of those secondary characters.

Love and suspense to the max!

I'm really enjoying this series! I got the first book before reading this one to get more acquainted with Kathryn and Jake and I'm so glad I read that first before getting to this book because I already knew the characters well and their origin story before continuing their story. I love the writing of this series, it flows so well, they're quick reads because of how good they are and how exciting and interesting the books get! This isn't my usual style of romance but it was very palatable for someone who's just started reading this genre of romance, it's not hardcore, but just enough for you to get the idea and to see if you enjoy this style of book or not! I, for one, really enjoyed it!

I definitely recommend this series! I'm also really wanting a story about Julien, he's the best!

Rising is about Jake and Kathryn; you might remember them from Fallen. Here is a little background about Kathryn Chase. She is a nurse in the military; she was married to her doctor/surgeon husband, but their relationship was missing something. Kathyrn was working with Paco (my favorite guy); she was looking for a Dom and requested him to take on the job of teaching her about the BDSM lifestyle. Paco had another idea and introduced her to Jake. This book picks up how their relationship is progressing, friends with fetishes. "BDSM brick road to the wonderful dungeon of Oz. Welcome to the world of infinite possibilities." "You're saying getting something shoved up your ass could be a choking hazard." This book is not only hot but funny as hell. I love Lexxi James' way of telling a story, which I highly recommend.

This is the second book in this series. I did not read the first book and I followed along just fine. There's a lot going on with Kathryn, as well as Jake, but it's Kathryn that gets in trouble all the time with her "research", she jumps to conclusions. She's also got spunk, she negotiates a contract with Paco if he eats a piece of bread, he does, and she' got another job on her full plate. Then there's Julian, with a black credit card, he's evil, but he does ask what his budget is, so he's not totally evil! Love the description of Jake "Gentle Jake, Master Jake, Caveman Jake." All in all a great read, and I will definitely read the next book as the last chapter is a segway to the next book. There is no cliffhanger.

I enjoyed reading Rising. This book was an entertaining, steamy romance. I was completely sucked into the page of this book. I liked this continuation to Jake and Kathryn's story. Kathryn is entertaining when she's busy researching.  Whether it's for a case shes investigating or trying to learn more about Jakes lifestyle.
I find it funny when Kathryn "researches" or snoops around she manages to get herself stuck in some compromising situations. Julian of course comes to her rescue or assists with her research & all to often Jake pops up.

This is another must read by Ms. James. I can never get enough of her characters and how they all play some part in her other books.

What is there not to love about a new Lexxi James novel. Rising was like visiting friends you haven’t seen in a while, Kathryn and Jake. Kathryn is frustrated when Jake hasn’t made a move to take their relationship to the next level, and I feel for her. Questions swirl through our minds. Why not? Is the relationship fizzling? Has he found a new sub? While patience is not our strong suit, with their story you can’t get the answers too soon. As I read the pages, I know Lexxi will reveal everything at its time.
With a little more mystery than in the first book, I felt that this was more of the books from Ms. James I love.

Jake is her Dom but he also is a cyber crime expert and hacker. Kathryn wants to learn all about BDSM and Jake is her Dom. This book has plenty of action, mystery, intrigue, suspense, and lots of steam. Kathryn is wondering why Jake hasn't taken their relationship to the next level. Is he seeing someone else? Set your Kindle on fire with this continuing story

Rising is the second book in the Sinful Soldier Romance series and continues the story of Kathryn Chase and Jake Russo. You have to have read the first book, Fallen, before this one otherwise you will be lost at certain things. The action, danger, drama, intrigue, suspense and all the BDSM you and want continue with Rising. Kathryn and Jake are now in a relationship but will it work for both of them in real life or is it only meant for a D/s relationship. This is a wonderful read.

Now that Kathryn has dipped her toe into submission she's impatient to explore and get answers. Jake seems, at least to her mind, to be reluctanr to take her to aclub. As you can imagine, she takes things into her own hands and decides to do her own ibn person research dragging along her partner in crime, Julians. Of course the foray is not only eye opening but humorous. In addition she manages t9 take some unrelated bits of information and work them into something they're not. There's a dramatic suspenseful element too with a staker investigation, troubles with exes and a few surprises along the way.

It’s better to read Fallen first, in order to understand better Rising.
After finding her love, Kathryn is intrigued to find out more about sub/dom relationship.

This story have a good intrigue, some danger that lurk below the story, some action, and a lot of “research” for Kitten, ended in some well deserved punishments from her dom, Jake.
Is full of fun and mischieves, and a lot of steamy encounters.

I want to read more about Julian, and of course of Paco. I’m waiting for his HEA.

This is the continuing story of Jake a Dom and Kathryn who is interested in embezzlement the bdsm lifestyle.
This is focusing on the relationship between Jake and Kathryn and how their world changes. There is a bit of mystery behind the scenes also.
Lexxi James style of writing is so easy to read and drags you into the story kicking and screaming, even though you want to be there. Very well written and a great compliment to the earlier book Fallen.

This is the second book in the series. Kathryn and Jake are getting on with their lives and enjoying their life. They hold secrets from each other which isn’t a good thing but they both think it’s ok for now until they are fully ready to let the other one know. Kathryn isn’t sure why Hake hasn’t taken her to a club yet. She’s never been and doesn’t fully get anything about the world he’s involved with but she takes matter into her own hands and sees a lot more than she thought. This is a fast paced book, but there’s a lot of emotions and love in it too. Loved it.

I want more of Jake and Kathryn I loved Fallen the first book and Rising adds more to their storyline. The characters are engaging and well developed with plenty of steamy chemistry. The storyline has plenty of twists and turns and misunderstandings between Jake’s action but their love is strong. Looking forward to reading more in the series.

Jake and Kathryn are a perfect couple and this hot steamy romance showcases that with each turn of the page. I recommend this romance to anyone who likes a bit of pain mixed with the pleasure and a bit of suspense mixed with their romance the book has it all in spades! This was my first book by this author and 2nd book in the series. I had a somewhat hard time with jumping in the middle is the series with this book as they reference other characters? Kathryn works for the investigation group as a nurse. Jake is an EMT and Dom. Kathryn knows little about this lifestyle and Jake is holding back. As she learns about him being a Dom, we get them closer than ever. I would say I enjoyed this book, but not sure if I would keep going with the series.
