A duty bound earl and a jewel thief might find forever if he can steal her heart… Robert Cooper, the Earl of Brougham must marry in order to fulfill his duty to the title. He’s decided on a rather mild mannered, biddable woman who most considered firmly on the shelf. But, her family is on solid financial ground and has no scandals attached to their name. Lady Emily Winterburn, sister of the Earl of Dunmere, is not what she seems. With a heart as big as her wild streak she finds herself prepared to protect her brother from his bad choices, even if it means stealing from the Ton. But marrying their way out of trouble is simply out of the question. What woman in her right mind would shackle herself to a man, let alone one of the notorious Lustful Lords? Cooper’s carefully laid plans are ruined once he must decide between courting his unwilling bride-to-be and taming the wild woman he caught stealing–until he discovers they are one and the same. And when love sinks its relentless talons into his heart? He’ll do anything to possess the wanton who fires his blood and touches his soul.
Sorcha Mowbray is a mild mannered office worker by day…okay, so she is actually a mouthy, opinionated, take charge kind of gal who bosses everyone around; but she definitely works in an office. At night she writes romance so hot she sets the sheets on fire! Just ask her slightly singed husband.
She is a long time lover of historical romance, having grown up reading Johanna Lindsey and Judith McNaught. Then she discovered Thea Devine and Susan Johnson. Holy cow! Heroes and heroines could do THAT? From there, things devolved into trying her hand at writing a little smexy. Needless to say, she liked it and she hopes you do too!
Amazing story of Robert Cooper's, the Earl of Brougham and Lady Emily Winterburn's struggles to find love and trust amidst their passionate relationship. Loved these characters from the first page. Loved how they relied on their friends. Highly recommend if you like your books steamy and romantic.
Since being introduced to Cooper in His Hand-Me-Down Countess, I’ve been dying to meet the woman who would finally show him there’s more to life than money and loveless sex. And whoa, does Emily do just that!
In the second book of this sexy AF Lustful Lords series, Taming His Hellion Countess has all the makings of an amazing historical romance, but with sexy, snarky twists. This is not your mother’s bodice ripper of the past.
I love the strong, smart, sexy characters in these stories. Lady Emily is not a pushover, she’s a woman who’s made her own way and knows her own mind. Especially when it comes to her thoughts on love and marriage. I loved her obstinance but also her openness to forging a relationship (though initially only in between the sheets) with Cooper. And I adored how Cooper in his attempt to woo his bride, really and truly fell in love.
I can’t wait for the next book in this fun, well written, engaging series! ~ Missy, 4 stars

Well shake me silly and give me a willy comrades, I do believe I have found a new author to gush over in the Historical Romance world! Cheese and crackers did I thoroughly enjoy Taming His Hellion Countess. I am definitely going to be adding Sorcha Mowbray to my must buy list! TBR be damned...
So first things first, lets actually get into a review, shall we?
Normally when you think Historical Romance, many readers think - ugh no, that is what my mother would read; and probably nine out of ten, you would be right. But this is that one time you would in fact be extremely incorrect. This is definitely something that younger groups of diehard romance porn lovers would gush over. There is the typical swoonage, the courting idea of that timeframe in the plot but in my opinion, this is as far as it goes in that spectrum. Lustford Lords series is about a particular set of men with a particular sexual appetite and their sparkling personalities are beaver drool worthy. What else I noticed is not only does this dive into men with a sexual taste that isn't really developed in this type of genre, but it still has that 'falling in love with the unlikely woman' trope. Dare I say this is just a hot mess of blends that is deliciously developed and I could not stop...
And of course, a romance would not be complete without the mention of the characters? I mean I am basically nudging that conversation above anyways, might as well dive into it more.
Mowbray has created some interesting characters. Something about Historical Romance that you see a lot of times where it is really heavy in the time era, so you have the dutiful hero and even with strong female leads they have a certain presence about them, like a timid damsel. This is no where bad, I love diving into a good historical romance where the time era is very much evident in the plot, but with these characters it wasn't entirely that case.
Cooper is most definitely the hero. His personality seeps out sex appeal, literally the pages are drooling for him. He is smart, cunning and definitely quite the charmer, which I may still be sweating from just that first chapter of him... whew. And even though he is the hero per say, he isn't. His hero 'swoop in' complex is a little more self gratifying for himself rather than to save the damsel. I say this because above all, for majority of the novel he is out for himself and his pleasures - he is a self hero. Emily is obviously the off limits damsel in distress that poor Cooper must save... ew - not so much. Don't get me wrong, she has an impending issue, one that could use some saving if you ask me, but she is not weak. Emily is a great deal of things but weak and inferior is not in that vocabulary. Possibly stubborn, wild, and maybe more headstrong than anything.
Their personalities really clash from the start, this is what I enjoyed most. Between Cooper's selfish personality and Emily being this stubborn headstrong sort, they really butt physically. They have this obvious physical connection but as the plot continues this evolves into the emotional issues that have with themselves and ultimately together. Cooper is trying to teach Emily her missed sexual opportunity, enjoying her body, again for his own selfish purpose while Emily is trying to keep herself at arms length emotionally while holding her families issues on her shoulders to try and solve.
So there is a lot of back and forth on trust and the actual romance building between them. At certain points though their relationship does evolve on so many levels it makes my head spin. They are talking, figuring out each others wants and needs which obviously goes into an all out sex-a-thon that made even my loins sweat. I think this is what I liked most about their connection, no not just the sexy time, but how the romance flowed for them.
What can I say, I am hooked. If you enjoy a delicious historical romance with a sexual twist of delicious proportions, then might I say I highly recommend this one! It was funny, it was such a phenomenal writing style that I have already decided I will continue on with this series. I am loving Sorcha writing style! Sign me up for some more please and thank you!
Ok so this book had a slightly different edge to the previous one. It was still very very 🌶🌶🌶 but there was a tenderness to it as well. A massive factor in this story was trust - and the importance of it. I really liked Cooper in the previous book and I was very intrigued about his story. And boy was I not dissatisfied! Emily had jumping back and forth from loving her independent woman side to wanting to shake some bloody common sense into her! . I do feel at times she didn’t deserve Cooper and she got on my nerves. But as a whole I did really enjoy how the story panned out. Also I’m so glad she didn’t find out about Coopers involvement in a particular scene in the previous book. I don’t think she would have understood. . This book was hot and steamy and I love how there wasn’t the often usual need to drag out the Hero’s feeling for the heroine. I am very much looking forward to the next in this fantastic series!
“His Hellion Countess” by Sorcha Mowbray is the steamy love story of Lady Emily Winterburn and Robert Cooper, the Earl of Brougham. Cooper thought his choice to make Lady Emily his wife would be simple since she was nearly a spinster who spent most of her time at the edges of balls. Little did he know she was busy trying to save her home and livelihood from loss due to her brother's gambling debts. Cooper would find that the simple Lady Emily would be so independent and resourceful. Can he save her from herself? Can she forgive him when his attempt to save her from herself lands her in possibly more trouble than she wanted? I enjoyed this quick steamy story and look forward to the next book from this series.
Amount of sex 5 / 5 How explicit 5 / 5 Amount of BDSM/Fetish 3 / 5 Story 5 / 5 Overall: 5 / 5
What's a girl to do when she is stuck in the 19th century and craves the independence of the 21st-century women? That is the struggle for Emily. Being a member of "Society," Emily can't work a traditional job. The expectation is she will marry well and be a good wife and mother. However, she doesn't want to get married and feels by doing so she will lose her limited independence. She shies away from men at the balls she attends. Oh, and she uses her time as a wallflower to support her family by stealing at society balls to try to pay off her brother's gambling debts.
Meanwhile, Cooper (from the first book) has decided he needs to find a meek and biddable wife with no scandals. He thinks Emily is that girl (haha - yeah, he doesn't know what she does at society balls). When he realizes Emily is far from the docile wife he is hoping for, he falls for her fiery independent woman that he hopes can one day be a match for him in the bedroom.
Being the second Sorcha Mowbray book, I've read, I have to say I really love her work. Her books are super sexy (particularly for the Historical Romance genre). She takes what is a little taboo in the 21st century and is downright scandalous in the 19th century. Her first book had multiple partners and BDSM furniture. This second book also peeks at the club the Lustful Lords frequent and includes dominance. However, it is not as heavy with the BDSM aspect as the first. Rather, the taboo in this book is more about different ways to make love.
Mowbray has a way of making me think while enjoying the exploits of this couple. Emily is trapped in her time despite her free thinking. How Emily's choices play out as well as those that are taken away from her made me think. It also made me consider: With the genre of Historical Romance must suspend our modern sensibilities to accept this is just how it would be? I don't know. At a certain point in the book, I did have to accept it was a is what I had to do. I loved the book and I love it makes me think about these issues rather than just give me a great story and the characters' spicy antics.
The second book in Ms. Mowbray's Lustful Lords series once again gives us erotic romance in a historical (Victorian) setting, and OMG, have a fan handy for the many, many steamy scenes between Cooper and Emily! The jewel thief/wallflower who Cooper has inadvertently selected for his "safe" society wife completely throws a wrench into his future plans when he learns what she really does at the many society balls she attends. Of course, by that time he's already in too deep and there's pretty much only one outcome for him--to fall in love with his future wife.
Though it was obvious that both Emily and Cooper had major trust issues to deal with before they could truly have the kind of relationship they soon decided they wanted, it did seem as if they spent a bit too much time covering the same "I'm not sure I can trust you" ground together. I spent a lot of time urging the two of them to just talk to each other, already! Emily's brother's gambling "cure" also seemed to be awfully quick and painless--I'm hoping he'll get a book of his own at some point so we can see the actual struggle he must have gone through in order for things to have gotten so bad in the first place, and how difficult turning things around was for him. He's not my favorite character, but I am interested to see how Ms. Mowbray could go about turning him into a hero.
Taming His Hellion Countess works as a standalone, if you haven't yet read the first book in the series (His Hand-Me-Down Countess) you should do just fine--if you have, though, Stone and Theo play a fun role here and it was fun to see them again, now settled and comfortable in their relationship.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Taming his Hellion Countess by Sorcha Mowbray is not your typical historical romance. This is a sexy new historical romance and the second book in the Lustful Lords Series. Taming his Hellion Countess is a steamy historical romance with elements of BDSM. I know right?! I have never heard or read anything with this type of combination, but somehow Sorcha Mowbray made it work.
This is not the typical romance where the lord has to marry or it’s forced by accident/circumstance. It also is no the type where the lord is brooding and fighting his attraction. In this book, it’s the opposite. Cooper decides that it’s time to produce an heir and is looking for a timid biddable wife to do this. He sets his eyes on Lady Emily, little does she know that she is engaged in some dangerous extracurricular activities.
The story revolves around Cooper trying to gain Emily’s trust and Emily fighting him at every stop. Cooper knows what he wants and will stop at nothing to make her love him and trust him. It was an entertaining read that I enjoyed. I liked that it wasn’t like historical romances that I typically read.
I do feel like it did get a bit repetitive at times with Emily and Cooper fighting over the same things. Also Emily’s brother’s reformation was too easy and fast for it to seem even slightly believable. Emily was so frustrating! I just wanted her to trust Cooper, since he was always just trying to help her and her family out.
I liked that Taming his Hellion Countess had lots of strong characters, especially women who believe in being independent. The story was also pretty steamy and spoke a lot about spankings, so if you are uncomfortable with reading about that, skip those parts. I hope you give this story a try!
I really, really enjoyed reading this second book in this series. It has everything I love in a book; fantastic characters, scorching hot open door scenes and a great plot that had my interest right from the beginning.
Lady Emmaline (Emily) is firmly on the shelf and very happy to be there. She has a secret that makes her need to do illegal activities to keep her family reputation intact and finances afloat due to her brother Arthur , the Earl of Dunmere’s actions.
Cooper, the Earl of Brougham is one of the “Lustful Lords” a group of titled gentleman who have a scandalous reputation. One of the Lustful Lords has met his match and settled down happily with his wife but the rest of the group carry on with gusto. Their main haunt for any salacious activity is “The Market” where anything goes and all tastes and fancies are catered for.
Cooper has decided he wants to marry and has Lady Emmaline in his sights. He feels she will be a meek and mindful wife, boy he certainly got that wrong. He finds out that she is a firecracker who has a temper on her but has a good heart. He asks for her hand and she refuses him. He offers her an alternative and she agrees. Once he has her in his arms, he never wants to let her go. Her illegal activities catch up with Emily one evening and Cooper sees the chance to make her his. What he didn’t realise was how angry she would feel to be trapped in a marriage that she didn’t want. Cooper realises that she isn’t just angry about the wedding but she also lacks trust in anyone from her past or present. Cooper decides he wants to gain Emily’s trust and respect so they can have the happy marriage that Cooper wants. Just how he gets her trust makes this a 10 star ⭐ read.
I devoured this book in one sitting as I couldn’t put it down. If you love really steamy open door historical romance, this series is for you!
Much like His Hand-Me-Down Countess we start with an orgy - which is still an absolutely WILD way to start a Regency era book like this and I will forever be clutching my pearls at it if this continues moving forward.
After the shock of the opening scene, everything is amazing and I loved everything about it. Cooper is simply so smitten and overwhelmed with his headstrong wife and I love it.
I adored Cooper and Emily and loved reading their story. This book was steamier than the first one. Cooper has picked the person who he thinks would be the ideal wife for him. However, Emily turned out to be nothing like what he thought. She was headstrong and didn't believe in marriage. After a situation at a ball puts her in a bind, Emily is forced to do something she didn't want to do. Her time with Cooper end up changing her for the better. As with the first book, I wish this one had an epilogue.
This is the story of Cooper and Emily,, her brother has got himself in a world of dept, that she, s taking to stealing from the ton, only she gets caught by none other than Cooper, one of the lusting lords. He in turn had decided that Emily was biddable enough to be his wife. But now he knows she, s a hellion, he is determined she will be his hellion countess. Thank you ♥️
Thieving has become a way of life for Emily! She steals to keep her brother out of the hands of a notorious lender! Cooper has decided she will make an admirable bride! Emily has many secrets but once they are revealed can she and Cooper have a HEA with a little S&M!
Well.. the smeggsy scenes are very well written - so that’s good 😇
But the rest of the conversations etc. between the mains felt so dry and stilted, to me.
Maybe it was intended like that, but it felt like the only fun part to write was the steamy things and the rest was just necessary in order to have a full story..
To me this was an okay book. It wasn't great, it wasn't bad, it was just...... I'll read another book by her before I make a rash decision because I liked the first book.
I've shelved as suspense because of a subplot around gambling debts and theft, but mostly the tension comes from the hero and heroine not communicating.
2.5 for the storyline 5/5 for the 🌶️ So an average of 3.75⭐️ for the book (mostly for the 🌶️) We always love a man who makes our pleasure his top priority 😉🥰
Engaging characters, lots of heat and some nice touches of humor
Book 2 in the Lustful Lords series, you don't need to have read the first book in the series or the related Market series to enjoy this. However, since characters and locations do carryover, having read some of the earlier books first would add to the enjoyment here.
I liked the way book 1 in the series mixed historical and BDSM--the first time I'd read a book with that particular combo--and I enjoyed the mix just as much here. The chemistry between Cooper and Emily was very hot, and I loved the recognition that it takes time to build trust, and that trust and honesty are particularly important in these kinds of relationships. Emily has plenty of good reasons to distrust the men in her life, so Cooper has his work cut out for him earning that trust. Emily makes her share of mistake, too, but help from their friends (some of those carryover characters) help to smooth the way for both of them.
Emily especially was an interesting character; I liked that she wasn't a typical wallflower, but she was independent (if maybe a little headstrong) and not afraid to take a path that was outside normal social boundaries. Cooper thought Emily would make a proper, docile wife; just how wrong he was made me laugh, but I had to admire him for being more attracted to her as he learned just how spirited and independent she was, in spite of how it messed with his plans.
Lots of great secondary characters here and I really loved the friendships between the Lustful Lords; I actually would have liked to have seen a little more of them, but hopefully in the upcoming books in the series. My only caveats about the story were that it seemed a little light on plot at times, and I did have a question about how easily Emily's brother changed his ways, but neither really detracted from my enjoyment.
If you like historicals, and you like BDSM, this is a quick, enjoyable read with engaging characters, lots of heat and some nice touches of humor. 4.5 stars
