What a beautiful story of the strongly Christian De Bruin family surviving WW2. May I be as strong in conviction and as certain in faith as they were.

And on a personal note this is part of my family history. My great grandparent were Hank and Christina, through their daughter Louisa.

I picked up this lovely little book at a thrift store where I just started volunteering. Surprise, I sort books and shelve them. This book was too tattered to sell, so I took it home. Helen tells her family's experiences in the Netherlands during WW2 in a chatty, engaging way. Her older siblings all worked in the resistance movement and her parents welcomed a Jewish couple into their home. Their Christian faith strengthened their resolve to fight the Nazis in any way they could, to the point of knowingly putting their lives in danger.

Helen Huizinga worked as a librarian at Trinity Western Library. Perhaps some of you locals met her.
