The Devil's Obsession

Rate this book
I need a wife, she needs an alibi…
I find her in Room 386, standing over a dead body.
A silver-haired beauty with innocent eyes. She won’t survive a night in prison.
Luckily for her, I can make this all go away with a flick of my wrist.
Why?
Because I’m Donnacha Quinn, the head henchman for the Irish Mafia.
My family owns the entire New York skyline - this hotel included.
When she asks what I want in return, I tell her all she has to do is get on her knees and beg…
That is, until I realize who she killed.
Now, I’m going to need more from her than submission.
I need her to marry me.
An easy deal - until I find out everything my new wife told me is a lie.

SOMME’S NOTES
The Devil’s Obsession is a deliciously dark, enemies to lovers mafia romance. It can be read as a standalone, but it’s best devoured with the rest of the trilogy.
You should know that I write dark romance, and my stories—including this one—contain triggers and aren’t for the faint of heart.
You won’t find Prince Charming or a damsel in distress within these pages, so if that’s what floats your boat, I kindly encourage you to move along!

"A silver-haired beauty with innocent eyes" as a result, the heroine is a whore, she killed her client. Why write about innocent eyes .. I do not understand, they are only misleading!

LOVE. I think this may have been the book to get me out of a reading slump. This book was adorable, the banter between the two, the enemies to lovers trope and *swoon* Don. I loved that big bearded Irish man.

* DOES have past memories and mentions of grooming, forced prostitution and murder/torture

Don and Romy's story was kinda sweet. I enjoyed reading it and I found cute the sweet spot Don had for Romy. Overall, it was an easy story to read and I would love to read Mak's story in the future too!

The addition starts with the book cover….yeah…yeah…yeah don’t judge a book by its cover they say ….well we all do it and this one here it is the scratch to your itch or better yet the filling to your oreos! Within the first chapters you get the panoramic view of whom you’re dealing with! This is book is part of the East Coast Devils series why just read one when you can start at the beginning and keep reading through the series it won’t be a waste of time. Don sexy as all get out head henchman for the Quinn Empire, family that owns/controls so much, so talk about dangerous, and you don’t want to own them any kind of debt or favors. Romy broken, grew up in the orphanage where abuse took place daily, fighting took place daily, feisty, stands up for herself, and will fight when needed. Don is at one of his family’s hotels watching his cousin who happens to be the boss as he is at a meeting with an undercover Bratva which has his hackles raised but while watching his cousins back notice a naked woman, covered in blood in one of the rooms and of course he has to go investigate. Upon arriving he informs her he can clean up her mess, but will she accept the offer because she will be making a deal with the devil automatically, she notices that darkness, danger, and the sexiness. The chemistry is insane crazy, and the magnetic pull is too strong but will she put her trust in the devil, who is the mysterious man running for office trying to take over the control, will these two broken souls find something more than just debt and can they find happiness?

I don't have a lot of things to say about this book other than Don and Romy were nuts, and I loved every minute of it.

Initially, I hesitated starting this book because I didn't think I would like Donnacha at all from seeing him in previous books. But he just became this dark hero that I couldn't help but laugh. Romy was just equally as crazy so them together was just so entertaining, I couldn't stop reading at one point.

This is what I was waiting for with this series from Sketcher. I love her other series SO SO much, that I was starting to think this series was just written by another person. But alas, I found what I was looking for.

This is for sure my favorite of the series and one I would definitely reread to get all the Ron/Romy interactions. Love.

Third Times The Charm

I actually read the other 2 books just to get it this one. I was not disappointed. This book did not have the issues I found in the other two. Fresh, exciting and secrets galore!! Loved these two completely messed up characters! That were made for each other. Perfectly imperfect.
More dark than the other two but if you’re into that kinds of kink-then it’s perfection.
Keeping this on my kindle for awhile.

Romy finds herself with blood on her hands literally! panicked she ends up in the debt of Don, on her knees begging for his help when the prospect of getting caught with a dead body hits home. Don agrees to help, but when he learns of who Romy killed drastic measures are needed to keep her safe, and he needs a wife as head of the Irish Mafia, but are things really as they seem? or has Don been betrayed from within? well written filled with suspense desire, action, twists and more!

I guessed FMC's (Romy) purpose after reading the 1st 10 chapters. Still, the plot and execution was better than the 1st two books. The dark part of the story is Romy. How she lived her 24 year life just broke my heart. The chemistry between Don and her was just fire. Wished had more spicy scenes.. Smexy meter: 2/5

However, I am disappointed with Donnacha's action. Like he is the head henchmen of the mafia and didn't considered a freaking background check on Romy, when it is so apparent that she is hiding something!! I get that he married recklessly which was fine for the first time. But what happened after that? Kind of stupid. Also the hooker's story; it was so weird and awkwardly placed.

Deliciously dark

Deliciously dark romance. He's the Quinn family head henchman and she's just 'accidently' killed a politician in the families pocket. So he marries her ...
Great story. Donnacha is intense, violent and very hot. Romy is complicated, with a dark past and lots of secrets that could destabilize the Quinn family. Together they are just the perfect messed up couple.
Best of the series.

This was an entertaining book with plenty of suspense and danger as to be expected. Romy and Don definitely had chemistry and tension between the two of them. Don was a powerful man not to be played or messed with. A character I couldn't help but love. Romy was in quite a bit of trouble when Don found her, but lucky for her he had a solution. I thought it had a very interesting plot and I enjoyed reading Don and Romy's story.

Okay FIRST of all, YOU GET BACK HERE SOMME SKETCHER AND GIVE ME AISLING AND MAK'S STORY! As if you even just threw those crumbs in there and then left us hanging!?

Aisling is actually the sister of the MMC but i really liked her character! She was sweet and funny, and i loved her little judo references, like girl... You're about to get your neck snapped by an assassin RUN! Girl did GOOD though and was so cute when she put her moves into practice lool.

"Did you see the chop I delivered to his neck? Did you see it?"

This book did NOT go where i was expecting! I thought Don would end up with Nova, but boy was i wrong lololol. However, I'm glad he didn't because Romy was a great fit. I love when both MC's are badass.

I loved the humour we got to see from Don in particular, and seeing a bit about his past. Although I do wish we'd have maybe gotten a deeper dive into his background.

Likewise, Romy's background really showed why she was the way she was and I'm glad she finally managed to make her way out, with her best friend alongside. The reading and writing thing was so cute, and definitely made me feel more attached to her.

ALSO CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW DONNACHA WOULD BE THE BEST DAD! He's soo adorable with Valentina and Gus, and the fact he keeps all Val's drawings omg!

I will admit, this series doesn't knock the Sinners Anonymous series from the top spot, but given it was Somme's debut series it was still so good and kept me entertained and I'd rate this book 4.5* individually. Plus, like i said before, even though the writing is good in this, you can see how SS has improved in each book and even more so in the SA series, which i love! Can't wait for more from her.

Sorry this heroine is not for me. I had to stop reading for a while, but then again I thought of continuing 'cause I haven't started a book I didn't try to finish. No matter how awful the book, the plot or the characters. Heroine annoyed me so much with her lusty thoughts since the first time she met the hero, of how handsome and gorgeous he is, or how her thighs tremble everytime she looks at his hotness.

I got intrigued with this book. Sure it started off well. This book I guess would be a good read, 'cause it got me interested. Writing was good enough, if not for some redundant words and repetitive lusty thoughts of heroine over the "other worldly handsomeness" of the hero 🙄. if I didn't hate this kind of heroine and the "body betrayal syndrome", authors don't get tired of using, I might have enjoyed reading because I was interested in the plot and the premise. Yet honestly, I didn't like much the development of the romance between the main characters. There wasn't so much actually.

I would have liked this heroine because she was described as tough and a fighter, but everytime she saw the hero or just within his vicinity, her panties got wet, her knees threatened to fold, she got panicky, hands trembled. Considering her childhood background and training at the "pustosh", I was expecting a cool, collected, confident tough heroine. Ugh I hate this kind of female leads. Feisty what? Acting tough and feisty that was that. She got tongue tied and lusty everytime he showed her that he wouldn't mess around.

Admittedly, I liked some aspects of the story. Hero, well he was just fine. Typical ruthless and mean alpha of a mafia empire. However there was this darkest inner part of him I didn't like. I don't enjoy reading them in any dark romances.

Overall, this could probably be an enjoyable read for me, if not for this panty wetting heroine.

This book was better than the second but not as good as the first.
Something all three books had in common was the pacing in the end...The last couple chapters in all three books rush faster than Sonic.

This book, however, gets 4.1 ⭐ from me because of the character writing. The only book where I liked both the leads. This is the only book where the FMC didn't annoy me and I liked that she truly fought back. Plus the trauma was written well (unlike in the second book). I also liked that the book had small chapters.
-------------
⚠️ (Possible spoilers ahead)

I didn't like the revelations, or the way they were done. For a secret so big and serious, when it was revealed it felt weak. The moment should have lingered longer. The revelation felt rushed through real fast.

What I also didn't like was the very anticlimactic ending. It really felt anticlimactic to me. But not in a it-bothers-me-and-I-cant-sleep way, but just that it could have been better. Last chapter was cute tho.
-------------
Well overall this was a nice read, a bit dark, but nice nevertheless. I'm sad that the author took it down and I won't get to buy paperbacks of it, but I enjoyed the ride while it lasted.✌🏼

There's something so incredibly frustrating about authors who start with such a good premise but fail to execute it. How am I supposed to believe that the FMC falls in love with the MMC when there are no real plot points to help them gravitate toward one another? They go from hating one another to "falling in love" in the span of a chapter. Additionally, Somme Sketcher falls into the trap of lacking tension. The whole ending section where the MMC finds out about the FMC betrayal was so rushed. I also wish that the FMC had guts. I hate when authors write about how brave the FMC is but don't show it. Writing about how "determined" and "stubborn" a character is but then also making them shallow is so frustrating. I feel like there was so much more than could've been done with the FMC. I'm mad that I spent the time reading this. The only reason why I gave this 2 stars is because the writing was marginally better than most of the dark romance writers on the scene but even then, that's not saying much.

Third instalment of Author Somme Sketcher's East Coast Devils series and everyone of the reads has been outstanding and thankfully all with their own HEA with a relatively decent body count!

Nice to see how a frozen or non existent males heart can be found or restarted and this book adventure the reader gets to witness the event for Don, head henchman for the Quinn Empire take a hit to the emotional roller-coaster. Again great balance of erotic sexual tensions between our two main characters, enough murder and mayhem to keep the heart rate going and lots of moments left to just simply entertain the reader.
A truly entertaining series and one I would recommend to any romance reader but with a twist or two for some highly wicked moments.

This book is the final book in the East Coast Devils trilogy which focuses on the story of Don/Donnacha Quinn, a ruthless Irish Mafia henchman at the hotel owned by his family watching over his cousin who is attending a potentially dangerous meeting, and Romy, a previously abused orphan who Don finds bloody and naked in one of the rooms with a dead body. He agrees to help her with the situation for a cost which turns out to be marriage for them. The characters are complex due to their pasts and have great sexual tension between them. The dark storyline is well written and is difficult to put down until the last page of the book.

I loved Donnacha and Romy's story. Donnacha Quinn is a ruthless killer for the Boston Mafia. Romy is being pimped out by Leo Belsky who is running for the governorship of New York. Leo also is the new head of the Russian mafia and is trying to run the Quinn's out of New York. If Leo wins as governor Donnacha could be deported back to Ireland. Donnacha meets Romy when he discovers she has killed one of her clients in the hotel the Quinn's own. Donnacha comes up with a plan to to help her get rid of the body, and as repayment for his help she has to marry him. Romy signs the papers which legally marries them and of course Donnacha holds her hostage in his penthouse, and then the games begin. This book has it all, hate, betrayal, murder, sex, and love.
