I actually read this at webtoons but it seems those only get into GR if they are also published as a book. I don't get their reasoning but it is what it is. That said this is no review of the book because I don't know which chapters are included. As I'm at chapter 200 (ongoing) it surely spans at least over all Eleceed books currently listed at GR.
Diving into Eleceed we're in a world of superheros in hiding who call themselves Awakend, specifically we're in South Korea where Jiwoo is living on his own with some stray cats as his only companions. Although he's probably still in high school there are no parents present. In the first “books” we only see memories of his mother who moves with him from one city to another to protect her son because she fears what might happen if the government becomes aware of his special ability. That constant moving, the reaction of his peers and her continual admonition to hide makes him shy and reclusive with only cats as his friends.
That is changing dramatically one day after saving an injured, fat tabby because said cat is the infamous Kayden, an unaffiliated, powerful Awakened, in disguise. He won't never admit that he has no clue how his change into a cat happened. He only remembers that he was nearly fatally wounded, on the run and looked for a sure way to hide from his persecutors. He doesn't know it yet but he will become Jiwoo's mentor for the world of the Awakened. He's the first one to acknowledge Jiwoo's super speed as a power but also the first one who falls victim to Jiwoo's cheerfullness, his fierce loyalty and his unconditional kindness because now that he knows that he's no freak all those character traits are coming forth and there's no stopping him from finally living, making friends and finding his place in that new world.
The first chapters are hilarious, seeing the mighty Kayden's pride struggling with his new body and his refusal to accept its limitations or cravings. There are a lot of cat analogies and if you're no cat person you probably like to skip some channels until the story takes pace. After that it's a nearly perfect mix of humor, action and drama. There's comprehensible character development, not only for Jiwoo and Kayden but also for support characters. There's also no complaint about the world building and the author obviously had a concept for a longer running story arc in mind which I really appreciate. I'm only missing a bit of romance. Every time when I believe to see some hints about something going into that direction it comes as a fault alarm.
That applies until chapter 171. There it seems the author is losing his focus. Maybe they didn't believe the series to be successful for such a long time but suddenly they resort to instruments like the sudden appearance of persons who didn't play any role until now or like creating complexity that leads to nothing than a short episode. They even hint at a possible romance that would make no sense while at the same time taking back the support character development of Jiwoo's closest friends n favor for creating funny situations. I'm sure they will find their way back. I just hope that will be soon.
I've been reading this since freshman year, and I’m going to tell you, it didn’t disappoint me once. I absolutely LOVE Eleceed, one of my favorite manhwa. So, I decided to write a review—it’s for school, though. I read the manhwa online, so I’ll try my best to stay near the beginning of the story to avoid spoiling too much. I think I’ll focus on chapters 1 to 67.
In Eleceed, we follow our cute MC, Jiwoo Seo, a 17-year-old boy with abnormal speed. He doesn’t know what it is or where it comes from, and because of that, both he and his mom keep moving from place to place, scared that someone might discover his unusual ability. Because of this, he hasn’t been able to form any connections with anyone around him, leaving him with no friends. However, amongst all that loneliness, he finds comfort in the cats he sees around and the ones he has at home. One day, while feeding the cat in his neighborhood, he comes across a really FAT orange cat who seems to be badly injured. Being the kind kid he is, Jiwoo decides to take the cat in and care for it until it gets better. Little did he know, this would open a door to a world of opportunities for him (e.g., becoming more confident in himself, making friends, and discovering the truth behind his abnormal abilities).
I’ve been reading the manhwa for 4-5 years already, and I want it to end, but at the same time, I don’t. 😭 (Very mixed feelings about it.) Something that I absolutely LOOOOOVE is the art style and how much it changes throughout the years (not in a bad way). The manhwa is so good to read when you're feeling sad or down because trust me, you will laugh at some point. Of course, there are some chapters that are really full of action and fight scenes, and I love that. The balance of humor, action, and romance is fantastic. The character development is amazing, and the way this manhwa feels so warm makes you want to be part of the group of friends Jiwoo will make. It also shows how a little kindness and love can change someone and help them become more open… Cough 🫢 cough… (Wooin, Jisuk Yoo, Subin, and Kayden) Chapters 1-67 are some of my favorite parts. I found it funny, and it’s when we are introduced to the characters and get to know a little about the world and our MC. I love the jokes, and that one incident between Jisuk Yoo and Kayden (if you know, you know—but just in case you don’t, it’s in chapter 43 :3), which always makes me cry from laughter. I love the jokes, and the things that poor Kayden had to go through!
I don’t particularly have anything I dislike, except I’m scared I’ll die of old age and still not know who Jiwoo’s father is. I think I’m going to get married, have kids, grow old, and still not know who he is. But regardless of that, I love the manhwa, and I’ve probably reread it 11 times, and will read it again because Why not.👍

What can I say...Casein Nitrate is THE BOMB! I love all these characters. The friendships and bonds formed are worth the read alone. The ACTION scenes are primo. The ARTWORK by Zhena *French kiss* Check out 소녀더와일즈 1
Realistic Fiction: eleceed illustrated by Son Je Ho was one of the manhua that I have been reading ever since it got released. throughout the story, it talks about Jiwoo, a cat lover with superhuman abilities, and Kayden, one of the strongest wizards that turned into a cat. Through their adventure, Jiwoo gradually grows its ability through lessons of Kayden and others, challenges and gets challenged by the world's strongest enemies. Through the process, makes friends with ones that he never knew, and finds out secrets about his mom.
When I was reading the manhwa, there was nothing that I thought could improve, nor something I disliked, since this was literally my favorite manhwa of all time, and I felt like reading the whole series several times.
I would recommend this comic to anyone that likes reading superhero stories, or anyone that is trying to find a comic that is worth reading.
This version literally looks like someone’s bootleg fan translation from screenshots. There is no rhyme or reason to the flow of images and over half of the speech bubbles are literally cut in half. I was excited to see this title for sale, cuz I definitely love it enough to buy the book, but I sure am glad this is on unlimited. I would have been IRATE had I paid money for the hopped up first chapter!
Only adding this once since I’ve read it as it released across years and I want more people to hear about how good it is lol—
IT IS SO GOOD. Anyone who is not reading this on webtoon is seriously missing out. It might take a few chapters to get interesting, but once it gets going, it never lets up. the humor?? 💕 The characters??? 💕
If you like found family, cats, epic fights, wholesomeness with depth, this is for you.
i'm sad i can't find a proper goodreads page for this but it starts as a cute slice of life fish out of water story but it's a mix of coming of age and sweet story about friendship, martial arts and a funny garfield like fat cat with the soul of the strongest awakened human who mentors the MC
The relationships makes this one so likeable. You'll feel like a proud parent witnessing the growth of the MC by the present arcs
***woensdag 15 februari 2023**ç I'm using this first chapter to refer to the series as a whole. Currently I'm on episode 17 and I'm loving it. It was a recommendation from a acquaintance and I'm glad I got it!
The art is drawn in such a humorous way and that's where this comic shines for me.
I do have to take breaks I think or I will end up bored with the humor.
Super powered self described bad ass accidentally turns himself into a fat cat and is semi trapped while becoming the mentor of someone new to his realm of super powers? I'm in. I love the expressive cats.
Eleceed! I loved this comic. I love how Zhena illustrates the characters; Kayden, Jiwoo and his friends! This was one of the first comics I read on webtoon and since then, I have become addicted. The art is really nice along with the character development. It's awesome!
Brooo im literally obsessedddd like the realation between kayden and mc is just top notch and not only them but kartein and pluton like at this point my guy shoulf literally open a open pet shelter😭😭😭😭
Actualmente es mi Webtoon favorito. No me pierdo ni una actualizacion. Los personajes me encantan y absolutamente siempre me quedo con ganas de más. No quiero que acabe nunca.
