I loved Captured and am happy to report Declared is just as good.
In this book, we follow Jax and Wesley as they provide a divergence so Kaelum can return the humans who want to go back to Earth.
We all know Crux is the bad guy, but Jax and Wes find out the true breadth of Crux's duplicity and evil.
Jax and Wes end up on Zathkar, the planet of their sworn enemies, Zathki "the worms."
Without spoiling anything, I will say that I loved this whole new world to explore. We meet more interesting characters, and the story advances in unexpected ways.
And at the center of it all, Jax and Wes form an unbreakable bond, fueled by passion (oh, hello, blue ridged cock of pleasure), Jax's need to protect, and Wesley's yearning to be useful.
Wes typically runs from "clinginess," but he and Jax never get tired of each other.
The story ends with a HEA for the MCs, but Crux is still at large.
Vorian and Beau are next, and why do I have to wait until October? WHY? I hope the third book is not the last because I am really enjoying the hell out of this series.
(If you're thinking of reading this one as a standalone, don't do it! This series needs to be read in order for the plot to make sense.)

Chock-full of sweetness, romance, excitement, and even some magic, this sequel delivered another unique M/M sci-fi tale, revolving around the off-world adventures of a group of brave and intelligent human beings and the star-marked alien warriors who have quickly come to treasure them so dearly.
Declared picks up where book one (Captured) leaves off, showing readers what happened to Thorzi hybrid, and the prince’s best friend, Jax, and the bold and inquisitive human, Wesley, after the two men became stranded together on an enemy planet after being shot down by series bad-guy, Crux.
The action kicks off pretty quickly, with Jax and Wesley fighting for survival on a harsh and inhospitable planet, with little means to do much beyond huddle down, keep warm and wait out a rescue mission. While they wait, hopeful that their friends will find them soon enough, they grow closer, emotionally and physically, as their easy connection and their need for warmth propels them into a relationship that surprises both of them, but which is far from unwelcomed by either man.
When the planets inhabitants, the Zathki, make themselves known, Jax finds his world-view shattered, as the depths of Crux’s duplicity proves greater than first perceived, making the centuries-long feud between the Thorzi and the Zathki crumble under scrutiny of these new truths.
As far as sequels go, this was a major win for me. I loved being back in the company of the Thorzi hybrids and the group of humans that were “taken” from Earth in book one. I’m enjoying the general plot and absolutely LOVE the alien world’s Burns and Fawkes have imagined into existence here, with comprehensive and fascinating histories, that continue to intrigue as more is unveiled. Even more fascinating are the magical powers shown by our lead characters, both with the Thorzi’s gifted star-marked abilities and the exceedingly cool magical skills their bonded humans slowly begin to exhibit, in times of great need, as the series unfolds. It’s all very cool and I can’t help but want more of that!
The connection between Jax and Wesley also proves just as strong and undeniable as the bonded relationship forged between prince Kaelum and Lucas in book one, but where Kaelum was a tad more serious and thoughtful, Jax proves full of boundless positive energy, always ready with a smile and a playfulness that makes it all too easy for lonely Wesley to fall head-over-heels for the blue-tinged warrior. I really liked these two together—it was easy and sweet, and they were oh-so-sexy together.
Effortlessly, this story was wholly engaging, start to finish, much like book one, but with the need for less explicit world-building set-up because returning readers already know the score. My need to pick this up release day was intense, and I have no doubt the wait for book three will now be bothersome, as I sit here and pretend to be patient for the next month or so.
All I can say is, I’m enjoying this series so much that I’m throwing all my wishes and prays out there into the universe that this is not limited to just a trilogy, because at this point, I’d happily keep reading in this world, with these characters, for many books to come.

Queria ser abduzida do Brasil, não aguento mais viver no mesmo país que bolsominions 🐂😅 Os humanos aqui são abduzidos quando estão sem rumo e cansados de muitas coisas na vida. Meu único pedido é me livrar dos gados ( os Aliens não tão nem aí para mim).
O primeiro livro foi bom, mas o segundo livro foi melhor. Gostei bastante de Wes e Jax ( não que eu não goste de Lucas e kaellun) cada casal tem sua característica e personalidade. Wes e Jax é um tipo de casal que curto, não começa muito com romance, começa de um jeito meio inesperado que deu certo ( se esquentando para não morrerem de frio) melhor forma de começar uma relação.
Foi mesmo coisa do destino Jax e Wes terem pousado de emergência naquele planeta "inimigo". Cruz é mesmo um fodido, espero que ele receba o que merece no livro 3. Falando no terceiro livro, estou curiosa para saber o que vai acontecer entre Vorian e Beau! Já fiquei com uma pulga atrás da orelha quando Beau no livro 1 foi o único que não quis sair da prisão no laboratório. Senti que tinha algo aí ( tava certa).
Curti muito o livro!! Adoro aliens X humanos e sei que um dia terei meu sonho realizado... Vou ser abduzida quando menos espero ( que seja uma alien gostosa)😂

This second entry in Sam and Fawkes' alien Sci-Fi series is just as good as the introduction book but has a totally different tone.
The differences between Jax and Wesley were never more obvious than after their ship was forced to land on the ice cold moon Zathkar with most of its systems damaged but Wes is very quick to put Jax in his place about thinking he's weak just because he's smaller.
I loved the dynamics between them. Jax may be in line to be the Thorzi's next Proeliator, their greatest warrior, but he's also a ray of sunshine, always smiling and very aware of his place as a hybrid.
Wes may be a human, and more susceptible to the intense cold of the moon, but he's also resourceful and won't let Jax despair over the fact he can't "protect him".
When Wes meets the leader of the ancient enemy the Zathki that live beneath the surface in cleverly constructed tunnels, it becomes very clear that both sides in the turbulent conflict have been played by Crux.
I loved the tone of this book, it's a bit less directly political than the first one and there's obviously less need for extensive world building so the narrative moves swiftly through the crash landing and into the revelations that the Zathki are actually Thorzi also, just a different version. They are the Scientists to the Thorzi Warriors.
They bounce off each other as Jax begins to realise that there is more to what he's been told about their planet's history and the nature of the human abductions that Crux (he of the bad behaviour in book one and the series' main nemesis) has been performing.
Learning about the differences in what are essentially the same people has more than a few similarities with how humanity treats people differently because of their ethnicity or where they were born.
It paints a poignant picture of a home world destroyed by people unwilling to work together towards better goals and instead, utterly destroying their planet and being forced into exile on Thorzan and Zathkar.
There's also a bit more of a sense of slowburn in the relationship between Jax and Wes, even though it takes place over a relatively short period of time. It's clear there is an attraction between them, but Jax's honour and his future role makes him feel he cannot accept Wes as a potential mate because of his own hybrid nature.
Wes, with a great deal of humour, some rather funny pointed Star Trek and Star Wars references which had me chuckling, puts Jax firmly in his place about what's suitable or not and their have a few very sweet and low key sexual encounters before the main story arc kicks in.
Suffice it to say, eventually things take a turn for the better and Wes' position as Jax's mate becomes as obvious as Lucas' was for Kaelum in book one!
And it all leads into the final set-up for book three which I am desperate for. Kaelum's half-brother Vorian, the Bastard - like literally that's his official title! Born from Crux's forced mating of Kaelum's human mother and Beau, the most vulnerable of the humans who were abducted from Earth.
I can't wait!

We met Wesley and Jax in book 1 but didn't get too much information on them especially since they disappeared after the crew returned to the Thorzi home planet. This book basically documents what was happening to them during that period.
The gist of it was that they were stuck in a dire situation but fortunately for them, their "enemies" were not who they seemed to be.
I liked Wesley. He was stronger mentally than I'd thought he would be. Sure, I knew he was a wiz but he had a strength about him that won everyone (including me) over. It also didn't hurt that he was a geek to the core and his internal thoughts had me snickering at his wide eyed and excited acceptance of things other people might have run away screaming from.
Jax was your typical Thorzian, valuing strength above all but, unique to him was the ability to notice it in other forms within other people. However, it took him too long to respect it in Wesley though I think it was the fear of losing him that caused that.
Nonetheless, by the end, everything worked out so I was happy that these two got their happy ending.
The next book is going to be about Vorian who has been through the wringer from the evil Crux and I do hope, and I'm looking forward to him finding the happiness that he deserves.

I still didn't quite feel the connection between Wes and Jax that I felt with Kaelum and Lucas, but I enjoyed this one a little more this time.

How can it be that you've got so many good concepts, a great world building, yet you don't dwell on anything for too long and just throw a mediocre love story in there? What a waste of... everything, basically.

I mean this story was uneventful, boring and without that overall feeling that something special's going on here.
First of all, these humans are abducted and they just go for it. No big deal. Hey, big blue hot aliens are here, I've got nothing going on in my life, so you know, why not? They don't go through that process of internalizing they're abducted and will never go back home. It was weird. The humans were instantly acclimated to the planet and the culture without so much as a hiccup and doing so without any kind of enthusiasm. The human characters are definitely not fleshed out, they're bland and I couldn't care less about them.
Jax's character had much more potential. He's a warrior, the kind that's big, smart and loved to apparently have sex with his best friend and prince, but now Jax's also found himself a human, Wesley, who's just a hook-up, again. There's no earth-shattering feeling of Jax and Wesley being fated mates or going even as far as having a family.
Nothing's going beyond a hook-up in these love stories. That mage thing was an unnecessary addition, it tried to make humans seem important to the Thorzi society while again, these guys have wombs removed when they could've reproduced themselves AND they've got another part of their race on another planet, the scientists that can and do make sure the Thorzi existence continues.
The sex was much better in this book, more passionate and I really liked it when Jax bottomed, but the story didn't offer much beyond that. The MMC's dialogues were better than in the first book as well.
“I want to fuck you,” I muttered against his lips. I kissed the corner of them, dragged my tongue from the ball of his throat to his chin until he was digging his shoulders into the nest of blankets hard, pushing himself up into me. “Would you like that, Wesley?”
I think he jumped on Wesley's dick after that. So, Jax was definitely a fantastic character but his potential wasn't utilised properly. He stayed somewhere on the mediocre, too cheesy side. Didn't fit him at all. He was the son of their greatest warrior and the thing that saved him in the end was Wesley's 'mage' energy, I mean, it was almost laughable.
The conflict between Thorzi and Zathki - the same race, but divided in the past - was resolved quickly and if the books offered a little more depth I'd really like them. There were some fantastic ideas implemented here, but the storytelling was just too boring.
The next up is the villain - prince's bastard half brother, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it'll be better than the rest.

I know I said I was taking a Burns break but then this book came out and it was their sci-fi series and not ABO so I figured I was safe, and it worked out okay. Still not the greatest amount of depth in terms of world-building, and the relationship developed way too quickly, but it was fun and interesting and enjoyable overall.

After a particularly frustrating read, this was a breath of fresh air, a cool glass of water in a hot day and I drank it within a day because I couldn't put it down.
The 2nd book in the Star Marked Warriors series by Sam Burns and W.M. Fawkes, unburdened by the need for descriptions and explanations like the first book flowed more easily and the story picks up on what happened after Jax and Wes left to take Kaelum's ship to distract Crux so that the others could escape.
Jax for all the smiling that he does and the optimistic attitude he has adopted, mostly to counter Kaelum's brooding, has his own demons and burdens. Wes for all that everyone in Thorzi saw that he has an adventurer's heart he is someone that spend his life, up till the point he was abducted, behind a desk because he is a programmer.
So when these two decide to be the distraction and end up gunned down in Zathar, a moon that is mostly ice, Jax feels responsible for not protecting Wes, for not keeping him safe and does everything in his power to fix everything and keep Wes as comfortable as he can manage. Wes on the other hand feels that for all his smarts he still as helpless and powerless as he was on Earth, so he tries to do anything and everything he can to help Jax. The end result is what Jax and Wes want to do for the other collide.
I don't want to give more of the story away but let me tell you that these two have amazing chemistry, Jax is sweet and protective, Wes is no push-over and let's Jax have it when it is needed, and these two work so well together!!!
Now I need Vorian and Beau's story PRONTO!!! My poor, misunderstood Vorian!!

So when these two decide to be the distraction and end up gunned down in Zathar, a moon that is mostly ice, Jax feels responsible for not protecting Wes, for not keeping him safe and does everything in his power to fix everything and keep Wes as comfortable as he can manage. Wes on the other hand feels that for all his smarts he still as helpless and powerless as he was on Earth, so he tries to do anything and everything he can to help Jax. The end result is what Jax and Wes want to do for the other collide.
I don't want to give more of the story away but let me tell you that these two have amazing chemistry, Jax is sweet and protective, Wes is no push-over and let's Jax have it when it is needed, and these two work so well together!!!
Now I need Vorian and Beau's story PRONTO!!! My poor, misunderstood Vorian!!

This book picks up right where the last left off, but this time we get to see where Jax and Wesley ended up when they didn't return from their distraction mission. The world was fairly built in the first installment, which left this book room to add new and interesting plot points that had parallels to the world we wall live in today. It also had a slightly different tone as our MCs were Jax, who is the grinniest, sunshiney Thorzi to ever live and Wes, who thrives on adventure and has a lot of really fun nerdy references. This book had forced proximity done right, and really set up a lot of the final book in this extremely fun series

Yep, I enjoyed this, even more than the first one in the series. Maybe because I got used to the eyeroll-inducing parts of the premise and general story, or simply because I liked Wesley and Jax more as characters. Who knows? And who cares, anyway. It's... not precisely good, but somehow awesome.

He snorted, a tiny bit of his usual devil-may-care attitude, and I relaxed too. “For being Wesley. For being clever and strong and handling this when I struggled. Kaelum was right. You humans may be soft, but that isn’t the opposite of being a warrior at all.”
The aliens are back and this time with a new adventure. I’d like to say that even though each book follows a different couple, I recommend reading this series in order. Mainly because the story picks up where Captured ends (with a couple of flashbacks at the beginning). I hope that the amount of new characters in this installment is an indicator of new books from this series. I already created new couples to ship, lol.
Jax and Wesley hit it off right from the moment they met. I adored their interactions and the way they complimented each other. All the times Jax was about to be narrow-minded, Wesley was there to broaden his perspective.
Be aware that due to the Thorzi mentality to live in the moment, this series falls a little bit in the inta-love area. Not in the cheesy kind, I mean I don’t tend to like this trope but here it is pretty mild.
A warrior questioning his beliefs. A human proving his worth. A great book when in need of a quick read, with not so much drama and a little bit of action. I truly can’t wait for Vorian’s book!

Solid follow up to the first book with good chemistry and interesting additions to the ‘verse with the introduction of the Zathki. Short but very entertaining . This does read like a standalone (I’d know since I almost forgot everything in book one lol) but I think having the background of book one will make this more enjoyable.
Michael Fell did a great job narrating and now I have to wait until he narrates book 3, the one I’m most excited for since it has the misunderstood, brooding, semi villain Vorian!!

It was a good read, with a nice plot ( I was afraid it would be boring with the stained thing, but absolutely not!) the romance had less heat than the previous book, but the characters are great! Word building is still awesome so preordered and waiting for the next book🥳

Wesley was snatched from Earth by a visiting spaceship from Thorzan, along with Lucas from the previous book, and another 18 or so humans who all for one reason or another were deemed to want to leave Earth.
Having arrived on the alien planet, Wesley and the other humans (except Lucas who's with the Prince) are kept in the lab facilities where Cruz, mastermind and malfunctioning mind-reader) is holding them for testing to get their gametes to make hybrid babies.
Cruz is not a nice guy at all. Prince finds out and decides that the humans should be given the choice of staying or returning to Earth. Wesley wants to stay, because Jax, one of the Thorzi Warriors and the prince's BFF/bodyguard, has caught his eye, and the attraction appears mutual.
It's a romance, for sure, but there's also lots of action in this one. And one massive surprise at the end that leads directly into the third book. Definitely another page turner. Read this!

What do you get when you pair a smiling alien warrior with a clever and brave game designer? Greatness—smoking hot, intense action, sweet and romantic star-packed greatness wrapped in a spaceship. This book is incredible. The writing, the storyline, the surprises, it’s all out of this world. *wink* Wes is an absolute dream. He’s smart, courageous and not afraid to put a stubborn warrior in his place. Jax has me enamored with all the nuanced ways he can use his star marks. Let’s just say you’ll never want for anything.

Too bad I can’t beam his book to me as I need it now.

Declared is boom two in this star marked warrior series, I really like Jax and Wesley story, their story was really different than the previous book, Jax and Wes end up crashing in a enemy planet, they have to learn to trust each other to survive, their forced proximity help them to see each other different. I love Jax he is a such protective and possessive guy and Wes was really good for him and doesn’t want to feel weak and fragile. I really like the plot of this book we have few surprises and it was really entertaining! Can’t wait for the next book in this series!

Can't put my finger on exactly what went wrong here. This book was perfectly okay. It had some forced-proximity vibes and did actually move the plot forward a bit. But I was just so so bored. I really didn't care about the romance, I felt absolutely nothing and skimmed a good bit of the last half. Not sure if I have it in me to read the third.

It's great how Sam and WM turned the alien-kidnaps-mate trope on its head with these books. You've got the fun sexiness of giant aliens, but without the consent issues.

This is book two of this series. The thing that I am loving about this series is that the "kidnapped" humans are getting a choice to stay or go back home. They are finding ways to be useful and contribute to their "new" world. The romantic aspects are GREAT. They are finding their mates and learning how to be partners. The extra powers that develops between the couples aren't bad either. On to book three!

I am really enjoying this series. This book takes us away from the Thorzan planet and to one of it's moons. We get to find out what happened to Jax and Wesley when they disappeared in the first book. More world building and history are revealed and jax and Wesley are shown to be a perfect match.
