Revenge is a dish best served cold.

A few weeks have passed since Sheriff Thomas Shepherd rescued Deputy Aguilar from a deranged serial killer. He's burned out and exhausted, struggling to hold the Nightshade County Sheriff's Department together.

Then a series of bizarre deaths shock the community. They appear accidental, but closer inspection reveals that a common thread connects the victims. Eleven years ago, they were high school friends, popular bullies who ruled over their classmates.

Is a tormented classmate hungry for vengeance?

After the killer murders a television news reporter, Thomas relies on his deputies and private investigator friends to track a bloodthirsty killer. Can he solve the case before the elusive killer claims another victim?

Or is Thomas next on the killer's list?

I have just read this book and love it! This is the first time I have read any of this author's books and will be starting the beginning of the series. I am looking forward to more of Dan Padavona's style of writing. Such a great story!

I would’ve rated this 3 stars but I think the current rating is way too high. While not a terrible book, this wasn’t great either. It had the same formula where the police seem to do nothing. In fact the Sheriff seems to have become a minor character who lets his girlfriend & 14 year old neighbor solve all the local crime. Also we had the character who decides to do something stupid & dangerous & everyone who tried to talk them out of it ends up going along & then they are all surprised when something bad happens.

Ugh. Of course I’m going to finish the series, which I think is only 3 more books, but there will be a lot of sighing and eye rolling!

Oh and wtf with the macadam! It’s pavement or asphalt or roadway!! I’d never heard the word macadam in my life before this series! I had heard the term “plating food” but only in a food service environment and sprigs of parsley were usually involved. When I make my husband a sandwich I don’t “plate” it. I throw it on a fricking plate!

I forgot to rant about how much I dislike the handicapped girl. She is used as such a device. Every killer wants to go after her for some reason & all the adults around her seem fine with bringing her out to hunt dangerous criminals. The author tries way too hard to make her cool and likable. Waaa I want to go swimming but I can’t. Why not? Isn’t there a whole swimming team in the Paralympics. Yup. I looked it up… “Swimming was one of the original sports when Sir Ludwig Guttmann's Stoke Mandeville Games became the first modern Paralympic Games at Rome in 1960. While the Games were originally only open to athletes with spinal injuries, it has gradually become more inclusive and swimming at the Paralympics now includes 14 classifications of disability.” So if you “can’t swim waaaa” that’s on you honey.

Why did I wait so long?

I always wonder why I wait so long to return to Wolf Lake with Dan Padavona's characters. These stories grab me and pull me in so quickly, and this one was no different. Talk about the school bullies getting their comeuppance! Imagine being bullied so badly while you were in high school that you one day break inside and decide to get revenge by murdering those that hurt you. Some people change for the better, some change for the worse! What a great read with all our favorite characters together again. Lots of action as Chelsea and her crew take on new clients and find themselves in trouble while Thomas and the sheriff's department try to catch a killer. All the while, the friendships grow. I just love these characters. Highly recommend!

You know who is killing and you know why, but I still couldn't put it down. I love this family of misfits. They all have their quirks but still would do anything for each other. I've come to care about all of these characters and when I think one of them is threatened I worry. In my opinion this was a great continuation of the Wolf Lake Series. I love there seems to be 3 separate stories and how Dan Padavona manages to bring them all together. You get suspense and action. You don't have to necessarily have to read the Wolf Lake Series in order I highly recommend it. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader's copy.

i loved this book! several people are dying throughout nightshade county under seemingly accidental circumstances. are these deaths actually accidental??

this book is so unique, since you learn from some of the first few chapters who the killer is and their background. the killings end up being revenge against high school bullies, and the killer would have been successful except for different head injury patterns in the second murder. the murder gang of wolf lake is unmatched though, so she didn’t stand a chance.

i absolutely loved getting inside the mind of the killer and knowing their thoughts! 10/10 recommend!!

A terrific series

This was a complex story that's as old as time, but one that never gets any easier to read. Bullying is something that every child has been involved with, weather as the instigator, the victim, or a friend of either. Unfortunately, these tragedies seem to get worse as time goes on. What's worse is what happens to those who have been bullied their whole lives, especially when it effects them mentally and psychologically. It's certainly something that everyone needs to come together to stop, before it's too late.
I would definitely recommend this book, series, and outstanding author.

High school Can Be Hell…

As with some of these stories we know who the culprit is from the beginning. As the story moves along we are given glimpses of the mind behind the eyes of the killer. Our intrepid group of investigators and law enforcement come together to figure out why a recent group of murders aren’t as “accidental” as they first appear.
This can be read as a stand alone or in sequence. As the series goes on we learn more about Thomas and his chosen family and this one too will leave you thinking and hoping that there might be something unexplainable and awesome for one of my favorite characters. Great Read

A revenge story with it’s start back in high school. A tormented woman revamps her image. Gone is the fat stuttering shy gal who was picked on by the ‘cool’ group. When she returns to town her former tormenters get a deadly visit. Chelsea’s business is in trouble but she’s not telling her employees why they have so many new cases. One woman hires Wolf Lake Investigations to follow her husband thinking he’s cheating. Unfortunately he’s up to nefarious schemes and gunplay’s involved. This time it’s Raven who’s in danger. Scout takes a summer job at the park but the gang let her go on a few surveillance trips. I’m looking forward to next book and hope it means good things for LeVar and Scout.

good read.

Sheriff Thomas has a very good group of officers and friends working with and for him in his effort of fighting crime in their upper New York landscape. The teenagers, single moms, PI’s and the sheriff’s own personal life issues help keep it diverse and makes a good read. Maybe the author should recommend that each book should be read in order. In do so large parts of the previous books would not have to be repeated. Therefore assist those reading them in order from much redundancy.

This one is good! Some adult bullies from high school class are turning up dead. They bullied everyone they could so any one if their classmates or teachers or whomever could be holding a grudge all these years later, right?

This series involves a small town and I just had to laugh as there has been so much criminal behavior and murders that it doesn’t feel so peaceful to me as the first book made it out to be. I keep thinking the town has to keep updating their population statistics monthly to the negative value as citizens are being found dead or jailed for their crimes! Ha

Someone has been murdering people who have graduated from the local high school at one time, both men and women. This person is obviously dangerous because there is little concern for self, only that the high school bullies receive their comeuppance. I’ve come to care about these Wolf Creek characters. It’s hard to put the book down until I know that they are safe. Wonderful writing to get the reader to care about the characters.

Great Series

The Wolf Lake series is a set of stories that incorporates so many different situations. It's not only about fighting crimes. It touches on domestic abuse, gang affiliations, human afflictions, mental, emotional and physical problems. Rising above all that and coming out better for it. Throughout the stories there seems to always be that feeling of family. Good series!

Awesome!!!

If you are a fan of crime fiction than the Wolf Lake Thriller series is a definite must read. The characters are extremely believable and the story line is a wonderful rollercoaster ride. I thought I was going to burn up my kindle turning the pages so fast. It wasn't that I wanted to turn the next page, it was that I HAD to turn the next page. I have bought all 7 (so far) books and have already pre-ordered #8. Each one are FANTASTIC.

How much abuse can anyone take.

How far does it have to go before you `SNAP``

How do you come out of it and are you a better or worse person for it.

I think this entangled tale will teach you a few things with twists and turns you might not see coming.

Read this push-pull tale and find out.

Great addition to this series.

You learn who the killer is in the first few pages and what follows is an interesting glimpse into what made her one and who will she target next. A second storyline follows the P.I. Firm through several baffling cases. Taut and suspenseful this was one of my favorites in this excellent series.

never disappointed!

The characters in this book make us wish real people could treat each other with this kind of respect and love. Aside from a great cast, we have a killer who is a psychopath, as most seem to be! You can not go wrong with this series!

Another great book in the series. I am a huge fan of the author and look forward to reading several of his books each year. This one had a nice twist and a great villain, one of the strong points in this author's writing. Will be moving on to the next book very soon!
