After returning to Raleigh, Caleesi feels good about the direction her life is headed in. However, when the Warren family is made aware that she and Zack have a son together, she immediately feels the pressure of reuniting with them. Despite how she feels about it, her son is curious and wants to meet his biological father. While silently struggling with the fact that Zack has now entered their child’s life, Caleesi is also going through an ordeal of things in her personal relationship. As emptiness continues to haunt her, she can only pray that fulfillment will soon find its way in her direction.
After marrying the devil in disguise, Nique is on a mission to retain her freedom. She wants nothing more than to finalize her divorce and gain back some normalcy in her life. But when she and Kamal cross paths, her heart is reminded of her infinite love for him. With the way their relationship ended, she’s leery about opening up old wounds. However, when love takes control, Nique is forced to take a risk that can either be a blessing or a curse.
This book wasn’t as good as part 1 to me. I would have liked the author to show/explain how the ladies went from down and out to be successful. Also the Harlem issue didn’t make sense. He was really on a 5 plus year con job for Calessi’s money? I’m glad Nique got her HEA.
It’s been 7yrs since she had been gone and as Caleesi , Harlem and Zayden who is spitting image of his dad. While running to the store, Caleesi and Zayden run into a women whose jaw drops. It is none other than Jaz Zack’s sister and she is sure that the little boy with Leesi is indeed her nephew. Running home to tell Zack she is sure he does not know? Knowing how family oriented the Warrens are, Leesi knows a phone 📞 will be one it’s way! Zack is as ashamed of what he did and followed Leesi for the last 7 years but he would not take the time to make amends. Zac knew was going to have a difficult time getting n her good graces and meeting his son. Nique is back staying with Leesi. She goes to sign up for therapy and who does she see? Yes everyone Kamal. The spark is still there but a lot of healing is needed plus homegirl is going through a divorce!kamal is working on his anger and feels bad how he left things with Nique. His mom Cammy is staying with him and encourages her son even when she is concerned.I love the comradeship between everyone and the support. When China (Leesi’s sister) is not doing well, Leesi opens her doors but everyone is not for you, even family! Friendships are tested, love will revisit but it is up to the persons to accept it. When inquest tries not to burden Kamal with her issues, she does not realize the love he has for her. When Leesi realizes Harlem is not who she thinks he is she may find out a little late the truth a,ways comes to the ,ugh t. As these couples spend more time together, help each other through tragedy ad rediscover each other it will be a wonderful thing!
I was so hoping for more from Caleesi and Zack, yet I guess you can't ask for too much more than a man stepping up and owning his mistakes; righting his wrongs. I was glad about that. Their son Zayden is one smart and kind boy. If nothing else, I'm glad things ended on a high note for these 3.
Caleesi ex-fiance and sister are beyond scum. How do you do someone like they did. And for her ex, Harlem, to not only do it to Caleesi, but to her son as well is very low. Her sister, China had all that coming and more. Just a disgrace.
Kamal and Monique; I was elated that they ended things how they did. Black Love...I'm here for it😏! Kamal was sinking yet Monique was NOT about to let his anguish take him under. She held him down and helped pull him out of his rut. I loved it all. Such a great storyline.
The Warren family was one of imperfect people just trying love on each other and I loved it. I was shocked about Trez and Dior, yet I'm glad he took action and did what needed to be done. She was horrible 🤦🏾♀️.
Nyerra can get you so wrapped up in her writings that you truly don't want it to end. I loved seeing familiar characters from her previous writings. I need Jace to get a story. He seems like a sweetheart whom needs love.
This was a great quick series read. Highly recommend it.
Book 1 really laid the groundwork for Empty 2. Nique and Caleesi had a really dope friendship so it was cool to see them still supporting each other 7 years later. The healing sought by Nique and Kamal was therapeutic to witness. The forgiveness extended throughout was realistic in that it showed how difficult it is to do although it benefits your own mental health. Last but not least, Zach was definitely on my hit list after book 1. His family’s reaction to Zay and Leesi’s coldness was well deserved. I wondered if he could ever overcome his absence. Great read!
I enjoyed all of the drama involved with this book. It was full of passion, excitement, and hurt and love. I guess the author attempted to portray that all relationships are different. I still liked this book and recommend reading it.
The story was good and I liked it. It drug a bit in some places, and in others it was a good balance of storytelling and dramatic effects. Overall, the story as a solid 3.75
This book explores betrayal and proves blood ain't always thicker than water. Great use of therapy with black characters. A lot of loss doesn't always equal failure forever.
I honestly love how this book ended with calessi and zack not the typical oh we fell back in love blah blah blah. I like that kamal and Monique got together and love how they have each other backs.Overall great book
Whew I was a bucket of tears when Kamal's Mother passed and I was listening to K. Michelle's A Mother's Prayer at the time . It hit different. I loved reading both parts for different reasons. Well done Nyerra.

Even though Zack did Caleesi VERY dirty after finding out she was pregnant I still thought by the end of the book they would end up back together. I was really glad Monique and Kamal were able to find their way back together
When I first started reading book 1, I had to get book 2! This story line was well written. Keep up the good work! Looking forward to possibly a book 3??
Kept me on my toes i liked that it wasn't just another black story and they didn't triumph extraordinarily from chapter to chapter without explanation.
