In a generation plagued by fatherlessness, fear, and indecision, men need a mentor.
They need a man who models masculine strength and understands his God-given duty to lay down his life for his family, to provide for their every need, to protect them, to exemplify a life of virtue.
St. Joseph is that man.
Man Your Learning to Lead like St. Joseph is a mission entrusted to you by a company of Catholic men who have faced challenges and found strength through the intercession of the head of the Holy Family, the man who provided for Jesus and Mary during their earthly lives and protected them on harrowing journeys as they fled from danger and battled the forces of this world.
By embarking on a tour of the Litany of St. Joseph, each chapter explores the power and freedom virtue brings to the lives of ordinary men trying to lead their families to heaven, virtues like justice, chastity, prudence, fortitude, faithfulness, and others.
Included are powerful testimonies and reflections With a foreword by Dr. Scott Hahn, Man Your Post is an invitation to join your band of brothers as you carry out the mission God has entrusted to you.
I purchased this book while on the search for something to read to better prepare me ahead of the birth of my son. The book is a collection of testimonials from fellow Catholic men. In each testimonial, the narrator lays out their struggles and faults and described how they worked to follow the virtues of St. Joseph, shaping them to be better men, husbands, fathers and Catholics. After each testimonial, the book lays out questions for you to ponder, along with a prayer and challenge. For those men who are seeking guidance in their relationships, their marriage or in their vocation, this is an excellent read.
Short and to the point. The testimonials are easy to follow and many of them are easy to apply to anyone's life. I really enjoyed the guided prayer and reflection at the end of each chapter. It's an easy read and one that makes one be a bit more aware of what a great Saint and intercessor St Joseph is. His virtues given to him by God are ones to strive for.
I got this book for Christmas from Catherine and Melissa and it was a delight to read. The insights and practical tips were fresh and rang true amidst beautiful individual stories of faith within families and religious life. The book gave me a newfound appreciation for the powerful intercessor we have in St. Joseph and helped me begin to understand what it truly means to be a man in Christ. I'm excited to apply its teachings to my life and I am sure that I will be referring back to it and recommending it many times.
I’m Protestant not Catholic but still a lot of wisdom to be gleaned here. Relatively short chapters with question, reflections, and prayers at the end of each (non-denom can rephrase to their comfort). Regardless of denomination, we as Christian men can still look to the man who raised up the Lord and Savior of this world and learn by his example (through Christ) what it means to “man your post” as head of the family and an image-bearer of God. Catholic men will likely find this even more helpful.
Compelling stories of faithfulness, chracter and fidelity. It is comforting and a consolation to know there are such people in the world. They are all around us even if silent.
This book was freaking awesome. Great follow up to Consecration to St. Joseph. Very tangible and some beautiful testimonies throughout the book. Highly recommend this one, especially for Fathers.
didn’t finish, but found myself needing to move on after having not picked it up much. Good book overall, but not necessarily what i’m called to right now
An excellent book for men who want to grow in holiness. A book which shows what it means to be a father to your own children or a spiritual father and model to all children.
