This story was completely bizarre!

A girl is living with her brother-in-law (also, the love interest, but let's not talk about that), after the death of her mother and his father. He's obsessed with keeping her at the castle, and she's hiding something, and with each episode, we're left with more questions, and the ending had me really confused. I mean, it's so far-fetched, even for a fantasy. The art was beautiful and characters portraits really were the only thing keeping me going, that and the fact that it was only 50 episodes.

pertama kali lihat manhwa adaptation dari buku ini, aku langsung tertarik baca karena art-nya yang bagus. tapi, waktu itu aku ngerasa 'kurang' karena chapter-nya yang sedikit dan plot cerita yang ringkas.
dan setelah aku cari tau, ternyata cerita ini ada novelnya 😆.

jujur, aku suka banget dengan gambaran visual ophelia dan alex. walaupun aku sedikit ga terbiasa dengan karakteristik alex. Alex sosok yang perfect banget, ga ada kurangnya. duke muda, kaya (pastinya), dingin, penuh etiket dan sopan santun, dan segala aspek kesempurnaan lain.

Tapi,,,,

pada asalnya, plot novel ini berjalan tentang bagaimana mengungkap penyebab kematian duke arpard dan istrinya. dan ditambah bumbu romansa antara ophelia dan alex. jujur saja, aku sedikit ga tahan tentang bagaimana ia mencintai dan terobsesi pada 'kakaknya'. jadi tolong, beri label novel ini untuk 21+ ⚠️⛔️.

The MTL was obvious in this translation but worse the story was trying really hard to be suspenseful but the majority of what was going on could be easily guessed, it was only some details at the end that could be considered a "twist". Would not recommend but I gave it a 2 star rating because at least I didn't drop it.

Summary: Ophelia's mother has gone from farmer's daughter to duchess after the consequent deaths of four husbands and the story starts with the mother and the duke dying in a carriage on their way to their honeymoon. The duke's son suspects it might have been Ophelia who killed them so he stops her from leaving until he becomes an adult in three years at age 20. The story then skips to three years later when an investigator comes to investigate the murder.

Short story that the villains were psychopaths (?) or having mental problems. It was quite thrilling with a lot of plot twists. The author was quite good making the all characters as the candidates of villain.

It’s spoiler;
FL’s mother killed all her husband to gain money and title, from peasant she became the duchess. The other villains had extreme behavior for someone their love, e.g. killing.

The FL had traumatic experience from her mother action and she killed her mom and her step father. ML knew it from beginning about the culprit of his parents’ accident but his love for FL was bigger that he ignored it and chose to keep mum.

All the characters in this story for sure having serious mental health issues. I got quite fun reading it.

I can’t help but thinking abt other villains who had similar background as Ophelia. As usual, I’d say at least the reasons that led to their craziness are valid. Imagine having a psychopath as ur mom and you’re haunted by a lot of fears, misery & guilt?

The storyline is quite messy. All the characters have toxic traits and seem to be suffering from psychological and mental issues, especially the two main leads. I like how cunning the female lead is, but I didn't like the story at all.

Es un buen libro con muchas intrigas, nunca queda nada claro al principio y eso te deja con muchas preguntas y con la sensación de querer seguir leyendo, si es un libro bastante intenso pero muy interesante y entretenido. El final no fue de mi gusto pero no me malinterpreten no fue un mal final, pero en lo personal me hubiera gustado ver un poco más de su historia como por ejemplo si ¿se quedaban juntos? por a los ojos de todos ellos eran hermanos pero general la historia me gustó bastante y en la trama principal si quedo todo claro.
