He’s my brother’s best friend and all I’ve ever wanted is a taste.
For my eighteenth birthday I wished for a birthday kiss from Stirling Hartford, my older brother’s best friend. Unfortunately, he only ever saw me as his friend’s annoying little sister. He broke my heart that night, whether he knew or not. Years later and my heart’s broken again, and there’s no one else to turn to except him.
She’s my best friend’s little sister, and I wish things were different.
I don’t care how tempting Audrey Davenport is, she’s still my overprotective best friend’s sister. I made a promise to him years ago I would never cross the line with her. It was easy to make that promise then when we were teens, but now she’s all grown up and I’m finding it hard to understand why I ever agreed to such a thing. Especially after the night she crawls into my bed…
"JA Low lives on a faraway beach in Australia. When she's not writing steamy scenes and admiring hot surfers, she's tending to her husband and two sons, and dreaming up the next epic romance."
I LOVED the Dirty Texas series. I enjoyed most of the next series. I enjoyed Paradise. This book is absolutely something else.
All of Ms. Low's books have had at least a noticeable about of grammatical errors. Missing or extra commas. Subject and object pronouns being used incorrectly. A run on sentence here and there. In several of my reviews, I have noted she needed to fire her editor and/or proofreader.
I don't think this was a very interesting story. Not much happens here. It is another book where one of the two characters has an ex that cheated on them. I believe Ms. Low has only written 2 books where that wasn't the case. It's a very old tool in her arsenal that is time to drop it. And, of course, her ex comes crawling back. Do something like 80% of the couples in your life have a least one person in the couple who has had a cheating ex? Unlikely.
However, it might have been a fantastic story but I couldn't see that because I was constantly distracted by missing or extra commas. So many, many things. I am definitely a type A person and if I start noticing a lot of errors, I will highlight them. By page 40, I had already highlighted 50 errors. I made myself stop unless I saw something I couldn't ignore and then I would start highlighting more again. I ended up with somewhere around 150 highlighted errors in a 176 page book. Some pages had 5 or 6. I had to skim if I wanted to avoid them. If I were to go through it carefully, I would bet I would find several hundred errors.
Examples: - Quite a number of instances of "between [insert name] and I." *I is not an object. The nouns coming after "between" are all objects. - 20 or more run on sentences. "Don't think you have to wait long looks like they have kissed and made up." or "Can't believe Ryhs made a joke about his situation this is a first." (Not to mention the sentence should have started with "I." I know the "I" can be implied but these are people who live on the Upper East Side on Central Park. They're going to speak formally. Lots of the run-on sentences were two sentences joined by a comma instead of an "and" or correct punctuation. - There were numerous sentences started too informally. "Would look bad if....." instead of "It would look bad if....." For example. - And if there are run-ons, you can bet there were sentence fragments, too. - The most numerous problems were improper comma placements. "A booth filled with beautiful women, wearing next to nothing with Remi and Miles sitting center stage enjoying their attention." Or "How f...ing dare, he." There were lots of clauses that needed to be offset by commas that were not. There were also commas that were missing or extra that changed the meaning of the sentences. - Multiple occurences of "how's things...." instead of "how're things..."
It truly felt like a very rough draft - something barely ready for a first pass by an editor.
I did't realize this was a cross over with the last Playboys of NY book, Without Warning. Rhys is the Audrey's older brother. Stirling is his best friend. Ms. Low actually gives a bulleted list of where Rhys is in his life and if I had not read the other book, I would have been horribly confused. It really needed to be written into the story instead of barely mentioned. If you remember the horrible Thanksgiving dinner from the previous book, you'll understand how confusing it would be to be an observer without knowing anything happening between Rhy and their other brother, who sides with the ahole dad in their parent's divorce. I'm probably confusing you, too, but I'm running out of space.
Lastly, I hated the short tiff between the H and h. This is a spoiler but I think this book spoils itself. He tells her that he loves her and she essentially says they can still be friends. He walks away. I don't blame him. Yet, somehow, he is the bad guy. He's the one that apologizes. While both people apologizing would have probably been best, she owed it to him more. And I think she should have gone after him. He laid it on the line for her and she says we'll be friends and expects him to chase her????
I know Ms. Low can do a better job than this. I am disappointed that she, her editor, and the publisher, if there was one, determined this book was ready to ask people to spend their money on. Luckily, I read it on KU. I will try one more book by her but another like this and I will be done. None of us is perfect and I'm sure there's at least one mistake in my review but I'm not asking someone to pay for it and no one proof read it. This is an insult to readers. It reeks of chasing the $ more than publishing a book that is complete and ready to be enjoyed. I would never write such a hyper critical review if I hadn't read books by her that were 4.5 star reads.
I keep reading these because I like some of the characters, but some of the random side stories / plot twists are so ridiculous. Like they’re unneeded? You don’t need to have some drama twist randomly for no reason. Especially when the resolution makes no sense.
In addition to this, these are all stand alones but you have to constantly go back and forth in time when reading them. But sometimes the story from back in time doesn’t make sense with what happens in the timeline from another book yet they’re the same characters.
In addition to this, most of the characters in the series are from the US, yet use mannerisms from somewhere else. I know nothing about this author except for the fact that she is absolutely not from the US lol
How I love me a billionaire! Audrey and Stirling are super cute together! Audrey and Stirling both are so in love with each other and would go through all ups and downs together! I love how protective and caring Stirling is over Audrey and how no matter what he is going to be there for her. Men are so stupid sometimes though, especially when it comes to their ego and you can definitely see it with Stirling, but he does redeem himself. I didn’t really like the side plot with Rhys and Ariana because I feel as it was rushed and missed so many pieces. I do like how Rhys, although protective, cared so much for his sister. This book was short and cute!
Favorite Quote: “Ah, fuck it. I grab her face again and kiss her.”
Tempting the Billionaire is the first title in The Hartford Brothers series featuring the eldest Hartford brother Stirling Hartford. He’s the best friend to Rhys from Without Warning: A Billionaire Romance, the fifth title in the Playboys of New York series. Audrey is Rhys’ younger sister and has held a torch for Stirling since she was a teen. She’s a likeable character, who is generally quite confident, and not afraid to go after what she wants. Stirling is a gentleman, he’s honorable, hardworking businessman, who whilst an alpha also has a sensitive side. His best friend is incredibly over the top when it comes to his younger sister and frequently reminds Stirling, that Audrey is off limits. The banter between this pair is witty, fun, and flirtatious, and their chemistry is full of passion and steam. I look forward to future additions to this series.
Please get an editor. Please get an editor who can make American characters speak like Americans. The complaints I’m seeing in other reviews are because your characters are using English words and phrases, not American ones. It makes a difference. And please, get an editor. Whoever is doing the editing is not up to the task. I have enjoyed so many of your books in spite of the errors, but this one just had too many issues with grammar and language.

I loved this storyline and how it played out. I was very disappointed however by the fact that the last half of the book felt incredibly rushed. I feel like it should have been longer and some of the turning points shouldn’t have been so quick. It truly felt like the author was just quickly trying to tie up loose ends on all the storylines at once so she could hit her deadline. Despite that it was a great read.
I absolutely loved this book. Audrey and Sterling are just meant to be. I love seeing the other characters pop up in these books and love the fact that the books are all linked by one or more characters Can’t wait to read the rest of the series
OMG!! Wonderful, I couldn’t put it down they just keep getting better. I absolutely love this book. I can’t wait to read the next one!!

They tell each other how much they’re miss and soon head back to his office. They make out once again and he tells her he doesn’t want to let her go. She tells him she has to go before Rainn starts looking for her. But she invites him over for pre-dinner drinks before the ball. Walking up to the Davenport’s Stirling is nervous, even though he’s done it many times. Marjorie greets him and ask him about Audrey and him growing close, she tells him Rhys isn’t here and she’s seen the way he looks at her, she know there’s something between the two. Audrey greets Stirling and they wait for Rhys to arrives. After Rhys arrives he questions why Stirling is there but then they head to the ball. She gets mad and goes back to the table and drinks a few glasses of champagne. Rhys ask Stirling to take her home, he is taking Ariana home. But she doesn’t want to go home with Stirling he’s to much of a gentleman she tells her brother. Don't get me wrong the writing is good the story was alright. This is supposed to be a brother 's best friend romance. The brother was overprotective and for a good reason too considering his sister doesn't have the best taste in men . Anyway after the brother leaving the country to deal and get away from his own life drama his sister goes to his friend for consoling when she finds out about her cheating boyfriend. She's always had a thing for him but he didn't see her that way till afterwards considering the age gap. All is well here the story build up was good tho a bit boring at the beginning. Then they go London to her brother and things happen and she ends up taking action and kissing him first and after that things progress and they start getting closer but they say they don't want a relationship. Obviously feelings develop and that's when the brother comes back and they decide to stop but then go back on it and start dating secretly. So everything keeps going smoothly until he declares his love in the heat of the moment and she freezes and doesn't confess to her feelings which he takes as rejection and then he ghosts her that's when the brother finds out and he confronts him and he tells him that he's the one nursing a broken heart cause of his sister and the brother was accepting of the idea and this is in last few chapters then when he goes to see her after talking to her brother they makeup and she confesses her love and after a dramatic family dinner the brother confronts him and goes off at him for hiding his relationship with his sister ( confusing much) anyway I found it lacking in emotion it didn't bring anything in that sense there was a lot of concentration on the steamy scenes I think that it took away from the story. There wasn't that much drama that you'ld expect when reading 2 tropes in 1 book. I hope Remi's book is going to be better that is if I end up reading it
“We’re going to be crossing over that line tonight. You okay with that?”
Audrey has been infatuated with her brother’s best friend and business parter, Stirling. He’s 10 years her senior. He has always seen her as a sister until a few years past and he’s starting to see the beautiful woman she has become. But her brother is so overprotective of her and as much as Audrey wants a taste of Stirling, Stirling won’t dare cross that line. But Audrey makes it so hard for him to behave. Can he resist temptation and keep it in his pants or does he take the risk of possibly losing a best friend which can also affect his business that he’s worked so hard for?
This is a sexyyyyyy forbidden love, age gap, best friend’s sister romance. I removed a star for all the grammatical errors… despite that, I was still able to enjoy this steamy story. These other reviews made me hesitant to read but it’s actually very enjoyable in my opinion. If you can get past a few grammatical errors, then ignore the reviews and read it.
Ngl I REALLY like the book if you scratch the last 10 percent from it, I was all like ima give this bish 5 ⭐️ but WHAT KINDA SHIT SHOW WAS THE LAST 10 PERCENT?!!! They tell the brother twice?!!!! And there are like NO details whatsoever of the moment the whole plot of the book is being figured out?!! I was sooooooo disappointed cause I LIKED THE BOOK. Like I’m sad and a tad bit ANGRY?!!!
What was that????? I really liked the book if someone would just PLEASE rewrite the last bit of it cause what the fuck? It was almost like the author just decided she was done with the book and went, mehhh I’m just gonna half ass the ending?!!
Luckily I got this on a deal so I paid next to nothing but still liek what the fuck?!!!

i am audrey’s #1 hater. she’s a rich, naive, out of touch, whiny influencer nepo baby who hates being called an “influencer” even tho she gets paid to party in a new city every night, yet gets upset when people call her out on her privilege 🤥
This is my 1st time reading a J A Low book, but won't be my last. This is a sweet HEA book. It's not a fast paced book. It moves more like you are reading it evolve info real time for good portions of the book. Others do move slightly faster and there are a few short time jumps. The story of Audrey & Stirling is sweet & heartwarming. I enjoyed reading their relationship change and evolve. Even though they are both scared, and not really sure what to label it exactly. They do try to be clear about what they want from each other for the most part. The sex scenes are 🔥🔥 Their love develops as they spend more and more time together. Audrey does have some big life changes and decisions in this book. Watching her character grow was well done by the author. Stirling has his own issues to deal with as well. They both have to figure out how to tell big brother/best friend Rhys about their relationship. That takes most of the book to happen. Rhys has his own soon to be ex-wife, life, and near end of book new love interest things to figure out. Stirling's brother Remi makes multiple appearances in different parts of the book. I look forward to reading his love story. Audrey's friends Nell and Rainn are in the book a bit as well. I really liked Rainn and fest she was a true friend.it's Something about Nell just wasn't as authentic to me. She has her moments but overall I just felt she was off somehow. Just my opinion though. Emma is introduced near the beginning of the book. Audrey makes her seem like they are pretty good friends and Emma is good person. I kept waiting for her to reappear, but that doesn't happen til the last few chapters. Emma and her crew of friend a along with their husbands seem very interesting. I wonder if J A Low may have already wrote stories for them or is planning too. Either way I'll check.
Toward the end of the book it seemed in a few places that there may be parts of the story edited out. The last few chapters aren't quite the same as the rest of the book. The pacing is a little different and you can tell there was probably more going on than we are given. In my opinion it was probably done for length purposes. This does not take away from Audrey & Stirling's story at all! It all seems to concern Rhys & Arianna or Emma, her husband, & their friend group. You can just tell there is more story behind what you are reading if that makes sense. This is what makes me think they may have their own books already or are to be written at some point.
This book doesn't have a lot of twists, turns, action, etc. It does have heartfelt emotion, love, & seeing a sweet relationship develop into a HEA. It is a little slower paced. So be aware of that going in. I think it's worth a read. I will be checking out other books by J A Low soon.
Tempting The Billionaire The Hartford Brothers #1 JA Low ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I had read a quick review before stating this story that had crucified it, and I thought to myself, it can’t possibly be this story but I’ve read and loved heaps of others stories from this author and loved them, so I jumped in. Gotta say that reviewer must have been having a seriously bad day… you know everyone is entitled to their opinion, but whatever. This story was FREAKING GOOD!
Anywho… Stirling and Audrey…. They are my favourite, well almost favourite J Low characters, I mean how do you pear them against each other…. But these two had the everything for me. The big brothers best friend you can’t touch her thing, the big brother out of town thing and the scorching chemistry thing, made amazing words thing!
When Audrey Davenport discovers her boyfriend cheating with her best friend, her life turns off its axis. She has great friends to fall back on but her brothers best mate is who she turns to most. Stirling Hartford is 10 yrs older then Audrey, she’s his best mates little sister, he’s known her forever, but when she turns up at his door distraught, he knows what he has to do! He desperately wants to be the good guy, but Audrey in all her glory would turn the patience of any saint. She turns out to be his kryptonite!
Crossing the line from friends, to friends with benefits had its own plus and minuses… while Audrey and Stirling heat up the sheets, her brother is always in the background and he’ll kill to protect his little sister! As the pair get closer and friends become way more, they push in, but when big brother Rhys finds out…. She thought her ex boyfriend was trouble! Poor Stirling!
Never fear Audrey may be young and sweet but she’s full of attitude and has no problem standing up to her brother, Stirling is not so brave! I loved these two, their banter and humour poured into the story in their own way. Yes it was hot and sexy, but you know when a story has that little something, something… yeah Tempting the Billionaire had it all!
What can I say except that this was yet another great read from Author JA Low. I enjoy her books so much, that I’ve become like a broken record; “I highly recommend, [scratch sound], I highly recommend...”
We met Stirling Hartford and Audrey Davenport in her brother Rhys’s book, WITHOUT WARNING, book five in Ms Low’s Playboys of New York series, and their story almost runs concurrently with TEMPTING THE BILLIONAIRE. I will note that this best-friends’-off-limits-age-gap-younger-sister book entirely stands alone, but seriously, “I highly recommend” that you also check out the PLAYBOYS series and start at the beginning.
Stirling was honourable, hard-working and handsome, annnnnd, 10 years older that Audrey. Also, in a misguided attempt at protecting his younger sister, Rhys had continued to outright ban Stirling from considering any semblance of a romantic relationship with Audrey all while saying that she should be going out with someone ‘like’ him. Stirling’s thoughts about Audrey had become far from wholesome however, and he’d been thinking that during “these last couple of years it’s been hard not to notice the smoke show she’s turned into.”
On her part, Audrey had been crushing on Stirling forever, hoping that she’d at least get some kind of decent birthday kiss on her 18th birthday. Not so, and now completely crushed, she’d moved on to all kinds of useless twits culminating in the devastatingly social scandal six years later that effected a change in Audrey’s outlook.
The chemistry between Stirling and Audrey smoked, and the witty banter between our heroine and her two friends, along with the three Hartford brothers made for addictive reading. Add in Rhys and his complications, and you have a 4.5-Star rated book ༺💗༻ #mumsalwaysreading #bookblogger #bookreviewer #marnsreads #marnsj
Even though this is the first book in this Hartford brothers series, Stirling Hartford and Audrey Davenport have already appeared in a previous book as subsidiary characters. So, it’s great that they get their own story to tell.
In Rhys Davenport’s story, we saw the relationship blossoming between his little sister, Audrey and his best friend, Stirling. This book goes into much more detail about how they come together and how their friendship develops into a full-blown but difficult romance. Their feelings for each other are so strong, but so is their love and respect for her older brother.
Knowing Rhys is already dealing with enough in his own life, they decide to keep their feelings for each other a guilty secret but the problem with true love is that it can’t stay hidden for long.
Soon, the stolen glances and obvious chemistry between them becomes to hard to deny. But just how will her overprotective brother react? Well, you’ll have to read it to find out.
Once again, Low manages to pull you into this world of gorgeously hot billionaires and it feels like you are loving their lives with them. If I have one criticism it would be that because all her stories are so closely linked, sometimes it feels a little repetitive and it can be a touch frustrating when you’re reading the same information from a different perspective because it’s a bit like ‘yeah, I already know this’. It does work though, particularly if you leave big gaps in between reading the books.
Overall, I love this writer though and I’m looking forward to finding out who finally lands in the lap of the other two Hartford brothers. Something tells me that both Remi and Miles’ stories are going to be hot, hot, hot!
This book just wasn't for me. There was way too much emphasis on Audrey and Stirling having sex in public places then actually developing a decent storyline between them.
Audrey is your stereotypical born into privilege trust fund baby. She's a social media influencer but God forbid you actually label her as one. There's no depth to her character as all she does is take selfies, go to parties, has sex and complains about how people say she's rich when - news flash - her family is loaded!
Stirling isn't really any better. If he's not turning up at clubs to watch her he's sat at home brooding and doing nothing. For a rich guy who has all these businesses and friends he never seems to actually be doing anything interesting.
Their relationship, though at the beginning with the whole "forbidden" meeting in secret thing was actually quite good, it got old pretty quickly. This guys meant to be pushing 40 and he's constantly acting like a horny teenager, it's gross. I was hoping as their relationship developed we would lose the emphasis on the sex and get to see more of them being an actual couple. But no, all that's done off page and we are just told about it which is pretty annoying.
I didn't actually understand what the plot of the book was meant to be apart from them both having sex behind her bothers back, lying about it and then suddenly being "in love". It was so boring I just ended up skimming the last half of the book, even the ending was rushed and seemed to have just been put in for the hell of it.
If you want a book that's full of annoying characters, repetitive sex scenes and no romance then this book is for you otherwise don't waste your time or money.
“Tempting the Billionaire” The Hartford Brothers Series by J.A Low
**Spoiler Alert**
Audrey has finally become an adult and all she wants on her 18th birthday is a kiss from the one man she has admired from afar, but the only problem is that he is 10 years her senior and her brother’s best friend and business partner…
Stirling is most definitely not blind, but he cannot act on any of his lust filled urges. Turning her down all those years ago was the best for him and her but now, seeing her become the most beautiful woman he has ever laid eyes on is excruciating. She is his best friend's baby sister. What would he do if he ever found out the dirty thoughts he has been having? He needs to keep his distance… fight the urge to take her over his desk and claim her for himself.
Seeing how crushed and humiliated she is after what her ex did brings them somewhat closer. The intense heat and attraction to one another is all it takes to break the spell. Secrets need to be kept and while the cat’s away… the mice will play… Will it last or will it all come crumbling down?
This book was hot… Each character has their own POV, and they are so intense and passionate. From friends to lovers… There is so much story to read and a must.
I love J.A Low’s style of writing. As the story unfolds you can’t help but feel their emotions. I cannot wait for the brothers to fall next. I am sure their stories are going to be explosive!

I'm confused. Stirling spoke to Rhys and told him they'd been together and his heart was the one being broken. Then it's Thanksgiving a couple of weeks later and Rhys is screaming at him for lying about the relationship? But not in front of the family, he waits to do it later? And talking about a previous conversation they'd had, not the most recent one?
Aside from the plethora of stray commas, which I managed to ignore, and the weirdly formal tone at times it was mostly an okay read. Aside from all the random stuff about Rhys which required a numbered list to detail what had happened with his divorce since he returned to NY and then the forgotten reveal of the relationship.
I guess billionaires don't really do it for me. I find them dull. It's just flashing money around and boring business. I prefer my billionaires to be rock stars or sportsmen. And I loathe influencers. Especially when they say they're going to be best friends with whoever they meet... But it's just something for Audrey to do since she can afford to buy a 4 bed apartment with a view of the park anyway it seems. She hates daddy but will happily take his money. The lifestyle definitely didn't seem interesting to me. And there were quite a few things that didn't add up throughout.
Oh, what a great love story this was for Audrey and Stirling, definitely bumpy with some major roadblocks but it just shows persistence wins!
It was really interesting getting to know Stirling in this book because in the book, Without Warning—the fifth Playboys of New York story—Rhys’ story, Stirling seemed different. I liked him then but loved him in this because we see that he really is a caring gentleman with a slight touch of the bad boy we all desire. 😉 Audrey is such a caring, confident, ‘go get them’ type of young woman even when she is kicked down, and it’s hard not to admire her character. I loved her comebacks when she stands up for herself as a young woman.
This is basically a ‘dating my best friend’s younger sister is not allowed’ story and it works well. I loved it when Stirling asked Rhys who he wanted Audrey to date and when Rhys pretty much described Stirling but then said of course not him, it cracked me up. Why wouldn’t you want someone you can trust implicitly with your sister? Poor Stirling really was caught between a rock and a hard place.
Tempting the Billionaire is a fast-paced, feel good story that is a great escape.
Another great book by JA Low i really loved the storyline and the characters all in this book and i loved how we got to have some side characters from another series it really brough it all full circle for me.
The one thing i really loved about this book was o felt that Audrey was in charge and that Stirling was the damsel in distress, i don’t know why but i really loved this. Audrey was a great character and even though she was wealthy and you thought she had it all it really wasn’t the case.
Sterling was just concentrating on his business and keeping his best friend happy buy not crushing on his sister but i love how all this goes downhill, Sterling was also a great character and i really liked him he was alpha but had a sensitive side to him which i loved.
This book was all about the best friends sister, it was steamy and had an age gap which usually i am not a fan off but this story was awesome.
If this sounds like the sort of genre that you like then you have to give this book a go recommend this for sure
I read this cause I loved Paradise but this was nothing like it. It was fine. It was an incredibly slow burn and the last bit felt super rushed. Warp speed rushed.
Overall it was fine. Stirling was a good guy with no discernible red flags. He never treated Audrey poorly at any point. He was always up front with her. He would be a great boyfriend.
Audrey was a stronger heroine than I often see. When her BF screws her friend, she is done immediately. She doesn’t wait for excuses or reconciliation. She’s done done with both of them.
I definitely felt the connection between the MCs but there was too much fade to black especially since they don’t get together for ages. The last chapter and epilogue have a MAJOR discovery and events, yet we only get a few pages. I would’ve liked more.
I found the names of the character confusing since I’m coming into this not having read the Playboys of NY series. That’s on me tho. Not sure if I’ll read the rest in this series.
