Haven was colonized by humans who fled from Earth centuries earlier to avoid a conflict. They built an advanced, thriving civilization on Haven and began construction of modern cities around the planet. Life was good and a far departure from the former lives they lived on Earth. However, ninety years after the planet was colonized, an extremely aggressive civilization known as the Vrang attacked the planet destroying all the cities and carrying off ninety percent of the population enslaving them. All that remained of the once beautiful cities were blackened ruins towering above what was once an advanced civilization.
The survivors of the attack decided to stay out of the former cities; that would be the first place the Vrang would search if they ever returned. For the next two hundred years, humanity has lived a primitive farming existence. That’s how things remained until one night a large group of aliens were discovered sitting in their fields. No one knew where the aliens had come from or who brought them to Haven, and the aliens weren’t telling anyone; they ignored each other as well as the humans living on the planet. It wasn’t until one young human and one of the aliens became entangled after an accident that everything changed. The human communities living on Haven know the universe is not a nice place; they stare at the stars at night and fear what could come out of them. They discover the appearance of the aliens on Haven has placed all of them in danger and that danger could be coming soon.
But the Alien and Epic Story are now communicating with each other and the communities are being warned of what's coming. Haven is a primitive planet and has no means of defending itself from an advanced civilization and the only option appears to be hiding in the forests and pray enough humans survive to rebuild the planet.
This is a story by Saxon Andrew of innocence lost and the struggle to survive in a universe fraught with dangerous civilizations that prey on inhabited planets. Epic learns that those that appear to be friends, aren't and the only one he can trust is a tall alien who just wants to die.

Great story telling. The author quickly sets the stage for the last human colony to interact with a group aliens that mysteriously show up in the colonies plannting fields. The relationship of the key character named "Epic" and one of the aliens is very interesting. One of the things I like about this author is that he does not get into boring needless details explaining how technology works. IN other words he just speaks of the abilities of the aliens and the technology they use. The main focus is on the story and the interaction of the characters. There's plenty of action, conflicts, etc. I got into the book right away and it kept me interested throughout. Now I'm onto book two of this series. I highly recommend you read this book :-)
Initially, I was bothered how author names the characters and thought it was confusing and unnecessary. But once i made the connection and story unfolded, I got past it. It was short and I enjoyed a quick read. Got the book thru prime read, but I'm not sure if I'll continue to read the series.
I often download samples without reading the synopsis if the cover or title is interesting, so I was chuckling when I realized Epic Story is a main character. Humor aside I enjoyed this story as I have others by this author and am looking forward to the next one.
Liked the book and the story line. Repetition of things like "are you sure about that?" becomes predictable. Character names are hilarious. Very disappointed with the inconclusive ending and no follow-up book; hopefully there will be one. Entertaining.
Saxon does it again. Epic story huge space battles and great characters. Once again when I saw this released I immediately started reading it and put my other book down. This happens every time he releases a new book.
Definitely a good read. A fair number of typos unfortunately. There's also a nonexistent word in " indetectable". It is, of course, "undetectable ". I admit that reading it did make me grind my teeth and smile simultaneously.
This is a very good book an interesting veiw as to who are the aliens and who are the bad guys, it takes its time but stick with it and you will enjoy the reading .
The book started slowly and it took me about four chapters to become interested. After that began to enjoy the way the author developed the characters and plot. Worth the purchase price.
Good story but it moves too fast. It is more like an outline than a story in that we never get to know a character very well and seldom what they are thinking and feeling.
I like how the hero portrayed here: a young one with persistent will, not willing to bend to elders will but truly living his values. Next books please!
