The King of Hell owns me. Mind, body, and eternal soul.

The devil’s in the details, and I shouldn’t be surprised to find Hell in Las Vegas. Luke doesn’t care that I can’t remember a thing about the deal we made on the night of my bachelorette party. All he cares is that I promised my love, my life, and my obedience to him for all eternity.

Obedience?

Not my style. I’m not looking to be owned by any man.

To make matters worse, I was supposed to be marrying another. But Adam can’t stand against Luke’s strength. I’m Luke’s prisoner. And his lover. And I can’t resist his wicked charms and sinful good looks.

With the mark of the beast on me and an army of Versace-clad demons knocking down my door, my options for freedom aren't just running out, they’re long gone. Only Luke can keep me safe. And only if I play by his rules.

The King of Sin needs a queen. If I want to survive, I don’t have any choice but to give the Devil his due.

Lucifer's bride had a good storyline and I did like both Luke( aka Lucifer) and evie and some of the other fallen angels seemed interesting as well and theirs was plenty of hot steamy sex but it didn't keep my attention. I'm the first to enjoy a lusty read but this had more f##king then story. If you like a great dirty sexy read with loads of sex and don't mind adult themed language definitely pick this one up. I personally like more substance in my romances. And I do love the whole Lucifer theme it just came up short, its probably just me but maybe another time I will check out book two. Whoever did the cover did a great job its what drew me in the first place.
Until next time Luv's💕💋

Crying victim?

I couldn't finish this one. Now I really liked the storyline, and Lucifer, well he was definitely a yummy selling point, but the real issue here was the fmc evie. She wakes up in a bed of another man (Lucifer) the night before her wedding to a man named adam who is her fiance. Now this is where I began to struggle because she keeps on and on blaming him for what she has done? It's his fault she slept with him, he must have drugged her! He must have hypnotized her! he planted the memories of them together in her mind! I read up to about 33% and not once does she take responsibility for herself or her actions. No, her logical response for having a lapse in judgment or even changing her mind or a change of heart was this evil man who has drugged her and took 100% advantage of her because she was nothing but innocence and an angel and was just so perfect this wasn't on her. Evie is a piece of work, and I hated her every time she open her freaking mouth. Wish this was better.

DNF - Tapping out at 75% but it was never going above 2.5* because "cunt" and the really awful sex. (for me, not them)

I really tried to like this one. It is a fairly light-hearted book where Lucifer and Evelyn have a vegas quickie marriage but she has no memory of it in the morning. Making things worse is Lucifer is actually the king of Hell and the angels want to kill her. It was mostly ok and I might have rounded up to 3 on another day but I just really had no interest in reading any more of it. The word "cunt" is used 35 times, and not in a natural way at all. It was tedious. And then there is the description of her feeling his ejaculation. If it works for you then perhaps this is the book for you as well.

I’d never felt cum shooting into me before. I knew some women could feel it gushing up inside them and splashing into their wombs—but not me. At least, not before that moment. Not before Luke. It burst out of his tip, so hot, my cunt burned even brighter for having it within me. It shot out in torrents, then in floods, then in bursts. He was so thick and filled me so completely, not a single drop leaked out. I was full of it. Full of him.

It did not work for me.

DNF @ 69% I pushed far longer than I normally would have. The concept would be good but basically nothing actually happens. The plot takes second place to discussions of how wet Luke makes Evie's cunt (yes, that is the only word used to describe it) and how mad she is. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that they probably could combine the entire series into one book.

I was really enjoying this book until about 50-60% in. Luke/Lucifer was soooo romantic and swoon worthy so I didn’t understand her problem!! She was safe and adored and loved. There was nothing to complain about. It would have been the easiest decision ever to make if I was her. With that said, I lost interest. I read the synopsis of book 2 and it sounds like it’s more of the same. No thanks.

An Ok Read via KU

Overall am easy and light read.

Somewhat curious to see what happens next.

Some phrasing in this that I wasn't keen on and had me thinking about not carrying on.

The sizzle and spark I was hoping fir wasn't there between Evie and Lucifer.

Yet another "the Devil plays around in the world of modern mortals" plot, with a mash of "fated mates that spent lifetimes together".

Not a bad book, but the writing was juvenile. I suspect the author is wholly British and was unable to stop being British for long enough to write an American MFC, because she (the character) referenced and said things no American would say or think.

Also, the use of the "C word". Once or twice in sex scenes is scandalous on its own, for us Yanks, but this author used it like she was getting paid a million dollars per use and threw it around like confetti, which no American would truly do.

This neither bothered me, myself, nor made me clutch my pearls - but it just didn't fit the female character, as she's written or as an American, since she's also not in jail doing hard time, playing cupcake to a butch lesbian for protection.

I also long for a Lucifer that isn't written as Tom Ellis, straight out of the god damned TV show. PLEASE.

Next.

Lucifer's Bride (Married to the Devil #1) by Roxie Ray and Skye Wilson is a difficult book to review. It's camp and just plain silly in parts but also sexy as... well, Hell.

This is one of those chocolate chip books--you know the ones that don't have as much substance as whole cookies but are tasty treats in a pinch? That's where the problem in writing a review lies. Who couldn't eat a whole damn bag of chocolate chips by themselves, right? Yummy, sure, but you're still missing out.

Let's get one thing out of the way before we dive into Lucifer's Bride. There are a lot of cunts, cocks, dripping, and throbbing! If that kind of thing offends you, maybe find another book.

Luckily, I'm not that easily offended...

I enjoyed the romance, it was entertaining, the sex was great, and the characters were likable. It didn't dawdle. These are all things to recommend Lucifer's Bride. It's a fun book. Read it.

Now, I'm going to say something that's going to come across as bitchy but isn't intended that way. Although Lucifer's Bride was good, it never lived up to its potential. (Gawd. I know, I know. I was training to become a teacher and sometimes it shows.) I would have traded some of the hot, intense sex for any of the following:

1. More internal struggle from Luke. Dude. Your girl dies every time you meet her again. Rather than swaggering your way through each encounter, wouldn't it eat you up inside? (LJ Smith's Soulmate did a better job with that and no one ever got neked.) If he loved her that much, would he rush to get her killed again? Show us some angst to prove he actually cares.

2. Evie fighting harder against the whole you-must-obey-me-thing. A modern woman ought to have railed against that kind of command, especially an educated one, like Evie's supposed to be. It would have created more conflict and made the story more exciting. Instead, she just comes across as kind of weak-willed.

3. Luke tearing Hell apart, looking for the person (or demon) who stole his wife's memory. Where's the uncontrollable rage that shocks and terrifies Evie in its intensity? He just pants after her like a horny dog, letting this massive risk to her life to go unchecked. Dick move, Satan. Protect yo girl.

4. Luke losing his mind, trying to keep from corrupting his sweet, innocent wife (because hello, The Devil, the drive to corrupt and destroy is as ingrained in him as a Kardashian's need to be in front of a camera)--but ultimately realizing that she's just as freaky and naughty as he is. Maybe more so. She's freaking Lilith, after all. Mother of demons? The Bible's original bad girl? Oh, she's totally worse than he is.

The narrative touched on that one in passing but didn't develop it, which was a damned shame.

Anyway, so... my verdict is good, but not as good as it should have been. There's one last thing that lets Lucifer's Bride down, something I'm seeing so much of lately that it's become a personal pet peeve: the nice, happy ending, even though absolutely nothing has been resolved (and no real attempt has been made to resolve it,) just for the sake of a sequel. Stop. Doing. That.

Fellow authors, I beg you to please, please, please stop ruining a decent story by stretching it out unnecessarily to sell more books. Write a solid, complete story, then publish it. Let it stand alone. When did endless sequels--often featuring every single side character they can squeeze in (Yes, I'm expecting every one of Evie's friends and every demon they love to get their own books. Groan.)--become the norm? Can we make it... I dunno... not?

Okay, sorry, that was bitchy. Pet peeve. Moving on...

I enjoyed Lucifer's Bride and would probably have finished it in a single sitting if I didn't have the attention span of a gnat with ADHD. (Yay, Team Mental Illness.) It's fun enough to make up for what it lacks. Is that enough to make me go looking for the sequel when it's released?

*sigh*

No, because I don't see any of the issues I had with Lucifer's Bride being resolved in a second book. If I'm wrong and you're reading this after the fact, let me know and I'll... Well, I probably won't. Honestly, unless the first book in a series blows me away, I rarely bother with sequels anymore. I would read more from these authors, though (as long as it's not flogging the whole Hell thing to death.)

Lack Luster

The storyline was great and original. I was really looking forward to this, especially all the reviews. But seeing how all the reviews were preemptive, I should have known better. These reviews seem to never be on the nose. Almost like they feel obligated to leave an awesome review regardless they were not paid to do so.

It was hard to get into this right up till the end and found myself slimming to get thru it. I was bored. Which is unexplainable as there was action, sex, drama, and even drugs.

What’s with Evie? What a joy kill. Book smart and street dumb. Yet she’s going to be the Queen of Hell.

Sex scenes were great, but they didn’t get my motor running. Although they should have which leads me to believe I don’t particularly care for the writing style of this author.

There were inconsistencies in the story. We went from chunky Gucci shoes to Louboutin’s then back to chunky Gucci shoes. By the way who chose the outfit for that scene? Luke wanted something practical that Evie could run if she had to run to save her life and the author out Evie in THAT outfit?! 🤦🏻‍♀️ 🙄 - yah right.

Then Evie would ask certain important questions that would be left unanswered. Like the story just flaked out. The story would go off into a tangent, but never come back to THE question never mind no answer.

There were a few wording issues - wrong word, mixed up wording, or added words that shouldn’t have been there. Could have been more than a few since I skimmed, but even so if you get into the story should be good reading flow.

Questionable whether I will continue with the series. I can say the next book I am looking to read is not in this series at this time. I may come back at a later date, but not high in my list of “To Read” books.

Evie (FMC) has one hell of a hens night with the devil included - Luke. Hes full of flirty words, sexual innuendos and he hes a man with focus. That focus being Evie. What follows is one drunken night that Evie cant remember anything about except that she wakes up in a strange bed with Luke lying next to her. Which starts a lot of witty banter between both of them as Luke helps her put together what happened the night before. I genuinely liked Evie and Luke. They both made me laugh throughout this book. I cant wait to read more about them both. I have to know if there will be any books featuring Evies friends - Ava & Mal, Joan & Lock and Bea & Don???? I would definitely read them if there was. This was a pretty good read and i enjoyed reading it

I liked the idea of this book, but the h and her constant disbelief was really off putting. She didn't have a good quality about her at all. Completely unlikable and boring. Shame.

Ah-maze-zing!

This was a book that I simply could not put down.

Evelyn St. John is in for a life changing ride when she goes to Vegas to elope with her fiance. What she doesn't realize is that her life has been planned from the get go. And many times before that. She ends up waking up in bed next to the sexiest male she's ever laid eyes on.

Luke Dawnstar.

And from there she is taken on a ride of pleasure, both carnal and emotional, and given a life that most would simply dream of. The twists in this book are ones that I didn't anticipate, and it kept me guessing and devouring more of the book.

I love the characters, and the way the author makes you feel for Lucifer, who we are always told is the bad guy in the tales of creation. This book is just enough to make you wonder if maybe it's the other way around.

Five stars for sure, for both the tale and the toe curling sexiness.

Until this hour, I didn’t succeed in finding the story of this book. What was the point? Do you know? Please, anyone tell me.

Here is what I gathered: the devil loves a girl and keeps her in a hotel. They fuck a lot. End of story.

Can it be really this simple? I kid you not, it definitely can.

So yeah, not really entertaining. I didn’t like Evie at all. She was the epitome of the ‘stupid blonde’ stereotype.
Why the devil would fall for her, I have no idea. Guess she’s good in bed…
Yeah, I said that, I’m sorry.

And the light bringer himself? Didn’t feel very devilish to me. More like a puppy following its owner and barking at anything and everything that is mean to said owner. That was the picture of him I had in mind most of the time.

There was nothing sexy about the story, nothing worth reading and definitely nothing worth remembering.

TW: cheating (not of the two mains, but the FMC and her ex), drug use (not from the main characters)

Actual 3.5

Good start to a series. FMC was a smidge annoying at times but Lucifer was great.

Absolutely hilarious and sexy as sin

Lucifer is charming and full of innuendos.
Evie....... I’m not entirely sold on her. She loses her memories, is betrayed by the man she loves but within an hour or so marries someone she doesn’t know and is somehow ok with this..... idk
I get Lucifer’s actions because he remembers EVERYTHING, even their pasts, but Evie doesn’t.
The angels seem like dicks which is kind of funny. I also want to see more of Mal, Lock and Don.
And who is the son of Ares actually?!?!?

Im between a 2.5 and 3. The first 50% was really interesting and I loved the hate to love aspect. The plot was sort of unique, its the plot between meliodas and elisabeth in 7 deadly sins minus some parts. I enjoyed the mystery of how Evie got there but it got a bit stale and the whole timeline of reincarnations and rules was confusing and inconsistent. There were some editing errors and they used the C word-no joke-35 times, which got old fast. While Luke was charming at first his entire personality slowly became sexual innuendos which became annoying. I dont think im going to finish this series because it just wasnt gripping enough. It definitely needed more action and characterization.

Lucifer and His Bride . . .

** 3.5 Stars **
Evelyn (“Evie”) is supposed to marry Adam, who decided they should elope in Vegas, but she wakes up beside a gorgeous stranger and discovers she is married to him instead, and she wasn’t sure she liked that look of ownership in his gaze. Her new husband says he is the Devil, going by the name of Luke. Lucifer loves Evelyn yet she keeps getting taken from him in each lifetime. He swears this time that he will keep her and protect her.

There isn’t much of a story here. The language is a bit colorful and not always appreciated. Will she be okay staying with Luke? Or will she run away? She has tons of enemies now who would love to put her out of her misery, so inaction probably isn’t the best choice.

It was ok

I started off really enjoying this one but it kind of sizzles out as it went. I was drawn to Luke immediately, obvi, look at that cover. I loved his quick wit and cocky flirtatious attitude but it kind of ended there.
.
The plot is weak and repetitive. The entirety of the story is boring and the steamy scenes were a little cringe. I'm not a fan if the word "c@nt" which was used a lot and telling a woman she's "breadable" while getting hot and heavy is cringy.
.
Overall, not the worst book I've read but I have no desire to continue the series.

The authors had a great idea with the Lucifer and Lilith and I found the world they built super interesting…that being said I totally lost interest about 50-75 percent of the way through. I am all about a romance with smut but I do like the story to move along. I found myself scrolling while skimming the pages because it felt like every page was only sex, the tension felt lost and so was I. I don’t know that I will read the next book but I might! I like the world but it was too slow of a plot for me.

I have to say…using a quote from Dante’s Infero in original Italian as the book’s foreword was actually hysterical to me. One quote that at least half the target audience will not bother to translate does not a masterpiece make. (It also made the heavy-handed Hell puns and references all the more sad tbh.)

The couple: Luke and Evie

Romance genre: mythology
Part of a series: Yes (Married to the Devil)
Length: 291 pages

Plot: Eve's fiance Adam has convinced her to elope to Las Vegas, so she, along with three of her girlfriends, is spending a night out on the town. However, when Eve wakes up in the morning, she doesn't remember anything from the night before, and especially not the god-like man who walks into the bedroom and says that they got married. Not only that, but Luke and all the people around him are drowning in metaphor and allusions. At first, she thinks it's to mock her because her doctoral work is on Dante's Divine Comedy. However, as they day goes on, she realizes that maybe Luke - Lucifer - is telling the truth about who he is and where they are and who they are to each other. And then there's the battle with the angels!

Character development: I felt like this was a good first book in a series, with a nice balance between world-building and relationship-building. Evie is smart and still sometimes clueless, but still a likeable character. Luke is a smooth-talking devil (it's just too easy):
“You can call me God if you like, love. Bit sacrilegious, of course…though I’ve never had a problem with that.” His accent was British, but not posh. His voice was dark, low and smooth, like liquor being poured straight from the bottle onto bare skin.

I loved that she was really from the mythology, even though she went by Eve/Evie. That's delicious pettiness right there. But most of all? I love that the devil - Lucifer himself - has been completely faithful and monogamous throughout all of history. It's incredibly sweet; he really would do anything, kill anyone, start and end wars, just for her. That's true love!

Next book in the series: Lucifer's Queen
