The writing feels amateurish and the dialogue isn't realistic. For example...

"I'm sure he'll have a list of all the things I did wrong tonight, and Mom will have to bring his boiling criticism to a simmer."

Absolutely nobody speaks like this. It's weird and off putting. The narration is more of the same.

Scarlett and Lachlan's story was very good. The characters are strong, the chemistry between Scarlett and Lachlan is off the charts, and I love the banter. The storyline was something I haven't read much and I enjoyed a change of pace. I look forward to more in this series.

I love finding new authors and liking their books. Scarlett has a drunken night in Vegas. She ends up marrying Lachlan. They end up get an annulment. She ends up married again to a horrible person. After getting a divorced she runs to Lachlan again. Will their years ago connection reconnect and last through all the media?

I thought Something Old was a really good story it would be the second story that I've read by the author and I can't wait to read more . From reading reviews and by reading the book I found out certain secondary characters had their own book and I am excited to read those stories . I'm a huge fan of covers I love when an author describes a character perfectly to fit the cover model that way the reader has a clearer view of the hero or heroine this on fit Lachlan perfectly . You could really feel the connection between the couple they had a lot of chemistry and just drew me even more into the story .The story flow was perfect I didn't feel like things happened fast or slow but really organic . I didn't feel any real disappointment towards a character and the things came to light my heart just broke but mended. I'm excited to see were this series goes and hope to see more of these amazing characters and to see how they're doing . Plus I want to add more books by Liz Lovelock to my bookshelf I just loved how the author wrote this amazing story and these likable characters .

Scarlett may be a successful businesswoman but the same can’t be said for her personal life. Her first marriage was a spontaneous affair in Vegas that ended the next morning and her next marriage with a man who should have been perfect for her but that couldn’t have been farther from the truth. With her second divorce just finalized the last person she expected to run into was her first husband or that the chemistry and connection between them would be stronger than ever.

Lachlan is a professional football player who has always regretted that his marriage to Scarlett ended without them giving it a chance. Now that fate has brought her back into his life he isn’t about to let her escape a second time but her past isn’t about to let her go so easily.

I enjoyed Scarlett’s and Lachlan’s story and there is a great group of secondary characters whose stories I am looking forward to reading as well.

I'm really enjoying Liz's writing, every new story she brings something new. This was a fabulous tale of shedding the old and re-visiting past dalliances. Scarlett and Lachlan met and married in Vegas one drunken night, quickly had it annulled... years later after Scarlett has divorced for the second time Lachlan turns up again and the sparks once again fly. But is it too soon, with everything she has going on, a burgeoning business, a vengeful ex and a dad who thinks she should give her ex Craig a second chance. Will true love rein or will past mistakes keep them apart. A wonderful story of finding love the second time around.

Scarlett and Lachlan's chemistry was off the charts in this romance novel for me!

While I haven't read many of Liz's novels, you best believe I'm going to get started on that right away, because her characters are so enjoyable to read, and she makes you really feel as if you are part of her novel, and the journey her characters take to find their one true love.

This second-chance romance is definitely one I will be reading again!

This is the 1st book in a new series and what a great beginning Lachlan and Scarlett’s journey is. Scarlett is a successful businesswoman but her personal life is a mess with two divorces under her belt. Lachlan is a star football player, and he and Scarlett had a steamy night in Vegas and ended up married, only to decide 24-hours later that this had been a mistake. Lachlan always regretted letting Scarlett go so easily and when fate lends a hand and they meet again he is determined to get a 2nd chance, but Scarlett’s biggest mistake hubby no 2 is everywhere. There are great secondary characters in this amazing storyline. This is a beautifully written flawless story which is light-hearted, fun, and an entertaining 2nd chance sports romance. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend for all.

I loved every romantic word in this book

I have long been waiting for Lachlan Rodger’s story after meeting him as Jase’s older brother in her college-aged My Guy series. Jase described his professional NFL playing brother as a popular and well-known ladies’ man, but when Lachlan made an abstract comment about having someone special once, and letting her go, I noted to myself that I’d love to find out more about him as a character. Finding out that Author Liz Lovelock was releasing a new series featuring Lachlan, that he’d been married in the past, and that his story would be a second chance sports romance had me pre-ordering this story months ago!

I have to say that as soon as this landed on my kindle, I was upon it like the hungry literary beast that I was, and wow, it was everything that I anticipated.

Scarlett Albright was a strong and successful character, and we meet her as she’s finishing up with her worst mistake; husband number two. As we would expect, she’s somewhat gun-shy and makes some hasty mistakes in her renewed dealings with Lachlan when she meets him again, but she has a couple of great friends who bring her head back into the game (think Sex & the City-ish here) and they’re definitely into giving him the benefit of the doubt!

Ms Lovelock doesn’t make it easy for our reconnected MC’s though. There are plenty of other dynamics that she adds to the mix in the form of ex’s who hang around like a bad smell, fathers who overstep parental boundaries and other complicating factors. What there is to love the most, is a Lachlan who is older, more handsome and sexier than ever before, and who makes it obvious from the word go that he regrets that they didn’t keep in touch. This man oozes romance and alpha-maleness all while keeping a healthy respect for the independent woman who is now a strong savvy business owner. He’s not going away, but neither is Scarlett’s ex-husband. How is it that one is romantic and the other is creepy? It’s all about Lachlan’s last four words in the following quote. He intends to hold onto her, AND he also intends to empower her:-

“I can’t believe I finally found her again. This time, I intend to hold on to her— if she’ll let me.”

I loved every romantic word in this book, Something Old, and have to recommend it to those who love second chances and sports romances, just as I do. It’s a beautiful uplifting read along the lighter side of life’s reading and exactly what everyone needs at some point in their lives. Yep, definitely worth the 4.5 Stars, the money and the time that you’ll be spending on it

Scarlett Albright is a strong fierce successful woman who owns her publishing company. She is beautiful, feisty, loyal and sexy but has just been thrown another harsh blow to her personal life. She has just divorced her second husband after knowing him less than two years, after discovering he was cheating, using and lying to her. Her first marriage/divorce was a drunk night in Los Vegas that was annulled in less than twenty-four hours to a guy named Lachlan that she never spoke to again. Well until they ran into each other right after her second divorce from the cheating, creepy ex-husband Craig who her father adores.
Lachlan Roger is a professional football player that is gorgeous, talented and was known as being a partier earlier in his career. So when he got married in Vegas his agent wasn't happy plus Scarlett knew her father would be furious so she had it annulled. Over the years he thought of her and always wondered what would of happened if they had given their marriage a chance all those years ago.

Present day:
Four years later they run into each other and the chemistry between them is palpable. Unfortunately she has been burned by her now ex-husband and is gun shy to get involved in a relationship. She doesn't want to be hurt yet again. Luckily for her Lachlan is persistent and wont take no for an answer. I loved how patient he was and how he thought out where to take her on their outings. Their banter back and forth was flawless to include the well written secondary characters. Each of them have obstacles their fathers that interfere with their life, an ex-husband who becomes a threat, then Lachlan agent pushing back. Unfortunately secrets leads to misunderstanding,
miscommunication, heartache then eventually healing and forgiveness. I loved this second chance/sports romance.
If I had anything to say that might of made this story just a tad bit better would be with the build up with her ex-husband. It seemed to just fizzle out without and great climax like I was expecting. It just felt like oh and by the way the story we have been building up too was just a second thought sentence in the epilogue.

Now with that being said I still absolutely loved this book and look forward to seeing where she takes Theo's story.
There are so many great secondary characters that there are endless possibilities for more amazing stories.
I received an ARC from the author for my honest review.

Scarlett Albright's life is kind of a mess right now, but she has every intention of getting it straightened out. First she must deal with the clingy ex-husband that can't let go and her overbearing father that is insistent she reconsider her divorce. Then if that isn't enough men to deal with, she runs into her first ex-husband and the sparks between them remind her how much she really liked him.

Lachlan wants a second chance and she wants to give him one, but moving on so soon seems like a really bad idea. Especially with the issue of her clingy ex husband and father not going away anytime soon. But she soon learns that her heart wants it wants, and that a second chance at love might be just what she needs right now.

Something Old is a wonderfully penned second chance romance story that is destined to leave you smiling. Scarlett found herself in what seemed like an impossible situation, but Lachlan was no ordinary man, and when he sets his mind to something there is no stopping him. He wanted that second chance with her and he wasn't going to let anything or anyone deter them. These two were meant to be together, it just took them a "mistake marriage" and a little time apart to figure that out. But once they were reunited it was evident that those sparks that lead them to say "I do" had it right all along. I loved watching this one unfold, the drama was high, the romance felt real, and the characters made it easy to fall for them. From beginning to end they kept me entertained and swimming in feels... it was quite delightful! If you love sweet second chance romances then I have no doubt this one will check all the boxes for you... it's loaded with stuff to make your heart skip a beat! Highly recommend!

I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.

"The pure pleasure of his kisses. They're worth it. He's worth it."

4 Second Chance Stars! Beautiful story full of heart and passion!

Scarlett is a successful business woman but she's not successful in the the love department. Her first marriage was a whirlwind that ended in divorce and her second marriage that she thought was perfect, ends up in the same fate. She never thought the minute she finalized her divorce to her second husband that she would run into her first one... and the chemistry is still there. Lachlan is a pro football player who has always regretted his divorce and sees Scarlett as the one who got away. And now that she's back in his life he won't let her go this time!

Liz Lovelock always write stories that draw you in and characters that are so compelling and fun to get to know. I loved the development of these two and the story of their relationship and past! I was hooked from the start and I can't wait to read the next story in the series!!

This was a decent read. I did enjoy most of the story and the characters. This story shows that some mistakes turn out to be the best thing to ever happen. Of course, it takes some time for Scarlett to realise this point. Or at least, one of her past mistakes was good. The other, not so much. Lachlan is a sports player which can sometimes mean that they are arrogant and self-involved but this isn't the case here. He actually cares about others like Levi and Scarlett. He wants another chance but Scarlett doesn't make it easy for him. She is independent and prefers to shoulder her own problems.

But I admit that there was something lacking for me personally in this story. I felt that the main climax/issue was too easily wrapped up. I would have liked some more tension and drama to have occurred and a slightly different resolution that involved Scarlett confronting [spoiler - so I won't name the person]. I have to admit, I was hoping a little something would happen between Dylan and Wyatt. It would have been great to see him loosen up a bit. Maybe in a new story...

Something Old is a saccharine-sweet second-chance romance. On the same day that her second divorce is finalized, Scarlett sees her first husband, the hunky Thor-like god she married after a one-night-stand in Vegas and promptly divorced.

When fate keeps putting Lachlan and Scarlett in each other's orbits, she can't help but give in and give Lachlan a second chance. Their chemistry is electric, and even though she doesn't want to date again after her current divorce, being with Lachlan is so easy and natural, she wonders why she didn't give him more of a chance the first time around. Lachlan, meanwhile, wonders why he didn't fight harder for Scarlett after their one night together, and isn't going to let another chance slip through his fingers.

There is some drama between Lachlan and Scarlett due to her stalker ex-husband, and the teenager he mentors through the Big Brother program. Some of it, I felt, was forced and didn't seem organic in keeping them apart. But it does force them to talk things through.

Overall, this was a sweet second-chance story. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Scarlett may be successful in business but when it comes to relationships her life hasn't gone to plan. She has just brought the curtain down on marriage number two and managed to bring the slime ball down a peg or two in the process. Enter ex-husband number one again. Lachlan. The sexy god-like man she married in Vegas and ended it the next day.

Lachlan and Scarlett are very similar in the fact that they have very controlling fathers and that the chemistry and attraction between them both is still off the charts. After just coming out of a failed relationship, Scarlett is reluctant and very careful about opening her heart., especially with ex number two not letting go easily.

Scarlett is a strong confident woman but has a vulnerability in her personal life. But don't let this fool you into thinking that she will bend to anyone's will. She protects herself (both her heart and finances), stands up for herself and is feisty with it. Lachlan is equally strong and needs to be to be by her side and be her rock. The blend of the two parts of her life came together to give us a story that I was happy to get lost in.

I am so glad i picked up this book i just wanted something light and easy to read and i got this in spades.

I loved this story especially with how Lachlan and Scarlett first met. It was like fate was intervening and they were bought into each other’s lives again and nothing was going to stop this time.

Of course nothing goes smoothly but i loved the drama of Scarletts divorce and the story line of her ex husband and also with what Levi brought to the story as well.

Lachlan is every woman’s dream and he made me swoon and i loved his character and his determination to never let Scarlett go. I also loved Scarlett she was a great character.

I loved Scarletts friends in this book Vivian and Dylan. The family drama for both Lachlan and Scarlett was so good and have you turning the page and i finished this book in one sitting.

As i said this book had a great storyline and was easy to read and clean which i loved cause sometimes you just need something not too heavy or spicy. I can’t wait for Scarlett a brothers book next.

This was such an enjoyable second chance story...the two main characters have a brief but interesting past together, and when they become reacquainted, their mutual attraction is every bit as obvious as it was previously.

There’s so much to admire about Scarlett: she is an independant, strong, successful business woman, but boy does she make poor relationship choices. Lachlan is equally successful in his career as a star Quarterback; plus, he’s drop-dead gorgeous. I love the to and fro between these two, and they are surrounded by a great group of friends. In particular, Scarlett’s best friend, Viv, is supportive, smart, and funny, and I’d love to know more about her as well as the other friends and family members I was introduced to along the way.

This was a really great start to a new series. I’m looking forward to reading more about these characters ... I received an advanced copy from the author.

I received a free ARC copy of this book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This was a really awesome story. Its a bit different with the whole one night in Vegas got married and divorced trope and it was so much fun. Scarlett has just been divorced from hubby #2 when the story begins. She ends up catching a guy who looks just like her one night Vegas husband, Lachlan and guess what it is him.

The two had a really wonderful one night marriage in Vegas before they decided it was a huge mistake and never saw each other again. Until now. But Scarlett has an ex husband who is suddenly everywhere and she is a bit shy about dating someone else so they end up hanging out as friend.

I absolutely loved Lachlan and Scarlett is pretty great a character as well. I really adored her . This book was a lot of fun and the characters were awesome. If you love the Vegas trope or you love a second chance at romance with an ex then you will love this story.

What a fabulous story, a great start to what I can tell is going to be an amazing series. I love all of the characters, well okay not the mean one, and especially the fun banter and easy camaraderie between them. Lachlan and Scarlett are both terrific as individuals but together they are the bomb, their chemistry is incredible.

Mixed into this wonderful love story is a thrilling tale of nastiness and spiteful vindictiveness. I love how you never know just what is going to come up next and how things will pan out. As well, there are other deeper elements about family support, care and trust which are explored in conventional and nonconventional ways which is one reason for the extra half a star.

This story leaves you feeling so good, another reason for the extra half a star. I am looking forward to Theo’s book next, it sounds like it is going to be a doozy and Dylan’s in an anthology. Now Dylan is a crack up!

I'm a fan of Liz Lovelock's writing but Something Old just missed the mark a bit for me. It's not to say that I didn't like it because I did, but Scarlett was a bit too much for me. She's a successful career woman, but her personal life isn't all that great. Lachlan is the man she married in Vegas for funsies & ran its course by the next morning (you know how it goes), but fate has seen fit to bring them face to face again. He was super sweet in my eyes but she was always ready to throw down which got exhausting after some time to be honest. He carries around regret for not even trying to make a go of that spontaneous wedding, while her past isn't about to make concessions. So yeah, if you want to see if they could meet in the middle you know what to do. I'm definitely intrigued with the next book, and HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Scarlett has just ended her 2nd marriage and she is embarrassed. Her attorney and best friend has supported her through them both. What a surprise when ex-husband number one turns up in her world. They were young and stupid to get married while drunk in Vegas so never even got to know each other. Can Lachlan convince her to give him a chance?

This is my 2nd Liz Lovelock book and I am really enjoying her work so far. The author gives us a bit of mystery to go with a sweet second chance. It was easy to hate ex-husband number two and he made Lachlan even more swoony! This is a fun story as we really get to know Scarlett and Lachlan. Quick, easy read and I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book.

4 years ago was Scarlett's first divorce waking up after a drunken Vegas wedding to a stranger named Lachlan.

Today was her second divorce. Walking out of the courthouse after divorcing Craig her cheating now ex-husband, with her lawyer and bestfriend Vivian.

Scarlett has always been a workaholic so throwing herself into her work and swearing off men was meant to keep her free from making bad choices again.

Unfortunately running in Lachlan once again only re-egnighted the memories the passion that she never felt with Craig. Naturally nothing goes smoothly.
Plenty of drama deception sprinkled with humour and great sexual chemistry. That kept me engaged.
A wonderfully written second chance romance.

The h is 30 years old and has been divorced twice. She owns a
publishing business and is considered a workaholic.

The H was the h's first husband and is the quarterback for the New
York Giants.

“Because the night we met there wasn’t a whole lot of discussion on our professions. Now that I think about it, he asked what I did
& that was pretty much it. It was drinks, an Elvis wedding, & then an annulment. All in the space of twenty-four hours in Vegas.”

The main characters meet again for the first time in four years and
he asks her on a date. With her recent divorce she declined & said
they'll leave things up to fate.

I won't summarize the story but it was a quick read and good enough to read once.

It’s more like 3.5 ⭐️’s, not quite 4 though. There is a very strong storyline here, and the beginning is also strong. However, once you get past the first couple of chapters, something is missing. I didn’t feel much passion between Lachlan and Scarlett, I think they would’ve been better suited as best friends. Lachlan is just so sweet and always understanding, where Scarlett is always on a war path in a way, always expecting the worst. And I guess that’s normal given her history, but it was too much of it. And the chemistry between these two just wasn’t there. And they sounded so much alike when in each of their individual point of view that, couple of times, I didn’t even know whose point of view we were in. Another thing that needs to be noted is that if you love reading steamy scenes in your romance novels, you will not find any of that in here. None of that. Zero. Next book looks to be Scarlett’s little brother’s book. And I can’t say he left an impression on me either, he sounded more like a funny little sister than the player he was portrayed to be throughout the story.

Liz Lovelock has done it again! I loved Something Old! Book one in The Jilted Series; Something Old tells the story of book publisher, Scarlett and NFL player, Lachlan and their second chance at love. It is a story filled with fun banter, great characters, and some super sexy hotness; add in a glimpse into the foster care system, tough family issues and a spiteful POS ex-husband and Liz really knocks it out of the park with Something Old. I enjoyed this story so much that I literally read it in one sitting. Cannot wait to read book two in this series!

Lachlan and Scarlett have amazing chemistry and wonderful back story.
There is a bit of suspense and a great cast of B characters.
This short story should brle amazing and the beginning is, but then half way it starts to drag. Not too sure why. Also the blackmail at the end is silly as i can't imagine the truth coming out really becoming the end of someone.

Clean, no bad language and a the steam is fade to black, but done well.

First story from this author I've read and would be interested in trading a full length book by her.

So Scarlett may be a awesome when it comes to her professional life but y'all chick is a hot mess express when it comes to her personal life. I gotta say I was not expecting her 1st hubby to pop back into her life and y'all he isn't gonna let her go without a fight this time. Scarlett being reserved and but also making decisons way to quick makes her friends pull her back in. I will say that I took half a star because parts seem super slow but the problem seem to just disappear. Im glad they got there happy but something felt missing.

Second-Chance romances are sometimes hard for me to get into, but this book is pure gold. I absolutely LOVED Scarlett and Lachlan. Can you imagine running into your first (Gorgeous) ex-husband the same day you are finalizing your divorce to your second? Scarlett is strong and independent. Just how I love my heroines. Lachlan is hot and sweet. The perfect combination. I cannot say how much I love this book.
