I was the kid who stayed inside to read.

As a four-eyed nerd with a bad perm, I was no one’s dodgeball pick, but I had a lot of friends. Frodo and Bilbo, for instance. Kristy, Stacey, Claudia and the gang (iykyk). Once, in the third grade, I wrote a teen murder mystery inspired by Christopher Pike. On solving my mystery in twelve pages, I decided I was a terrible writer and should never, ever do that again.

Fortunately, I didn’t take my own advice.

I write romance for that feeling you get at the end, like you’re standing on top of a mountain with a backpack full of hundred dollar bills. I write romcoms because is there anything better than banter and grand gestures? I write because I love to create and I love words. I love books, and I love stretching my imagination. I love love, and if you do too, bring your coffee and have a seat. I think we’re gonna be friends.

I’ve read almost all of Staci Hart’s books, and this one is different and I absolutely loved the concept!

Star Bright is about a modern day Bright Young Things group in NYC throwing the best parties that are lavish and have mystery and only the elite are invited. Levi Hunt is a writer for a magazine and he needs on that list. He’s got a story in mind… he wants to find out who Cecelia Burton, the leader of the group, is. He finally gets his in, but it’s so much more than what he bargained for.


Stella Spencer is part of this elite group and meets Levi at the first party he attends. They become enamored with each other, but both are keeping a huge secret. Levi can’t let Stella know he’s there for a story, and Stella can’t let him (or anyone for that matter) find out who she really is. It becomes uber complicated for the two.

I was so nervous waiting for the other shoe to drop with these two. I wanted them to be together so badly, but I wasn’t sure how it would work. Stella is a fantastic character. She’s fun, happy, and has loads of friends, but she also has a side that doesn’t trust herself because she can trust the wrong people. She thought she had it right with Levi and my heart broke a little because I knew him keeping a secret would not end well.

Levi was pretty freaking special as well. He grew up in New York like Stella, but it was an entirely different world. He has reasons for keeping his secrets and so does Stella. And while all this is going on, they start to fall harder and harder for one another.

This book was so much fun to read. I loved so much about it. It was a magical escape that I needed so much right now! I’m so glad there will be more BYT books and I can’t wait to see who’s next! If you’re looking for a story full of passion, romance, and twists and turns. It was just the get away I needed from real life. Highly recommend!

Well, Staci’s new series is based on them and she gives us a modern spin on this group of bohemian young socialites who loved to throw glamorous and decadent parties. Star Bright is the introduction to this new world and its people and trust me when I say, you’ll want to live in it (crazy parties included!).

Star Bright is the first installment in the Bright Young Things series and it tells the story of Stella Spencer, the mysterious benefactor and organizer of the lavish parties everyone wants to get invited in: also, known as Cecilia Beaton. We are presented with a group of rich party animals who love the glamorous life but not everything is sunshine and rainbows. Everyone has a story and what this is truly all about is connection. In one of these parties, Stella meets Levi Hunt. Sparks fly and they start a no-strings relationship that turns out to be so much more. But both have secrets and Stella has the police commissioner on her tail. Will their love survive after everything is brought to light?

Everyone wanted to know what it was like to be a Bright Young Thing.

I am already addicted to the plot of this new series and the amazing crew Staci has created! Star Bright is so different from any romance I’ve read in a while, the theme making it fresh and dazzling. It was all about the glitz, the family created between this misunderstood group, the mystery around Cecilia Beaton and the connection between the couple. I just loved Stella and Levi. I loved their imperfect relationship, which starts with secrets on both parts (Levi is a journalist infiltrated to get a story) but all that is left aside when it comes to the burning chemistry and the beautiful bond between these two.

What we felt for each other was bigger than we would admit, more than we could afford.
And we both knew it.

I just felt the sparks between this couple from the very first page and trust me when I say, things get SCORCHING HOT. That first sex scene? Man, I am still burning! And it is obvious feelings start growing instantly even though both Stella and Levi try not to (especially because of the secrets and also because Levi is set to leave to cover the war in Syria). I loved getting a bit of everything in this romance, including even a bit of suspense. But my favorite thing obviously is the relationship formed between this couple. I just loved how they clicked and I loved their ending.

My life has never been so bright as it’s been since you.

Therefore, I am rating Star Bright with 4.5 STARS since it has been the perfect introduction to the Bright Young Things series. I loved the glamour, the sparkle, the friend group, the mystery, the suspense, and of course, the couple. I loved this new theme and how Staci developed it. I cannot wait to read whatever is next in the series and I hope we are getting loads of stories because I love these characters. Highly recommend to read this one!

Levi is so swoon worthy hero, my heart was melting for him!I adored him he is charming , sweet and sexy!Stella is sweet and fun!Together they make a great couple!I loved their flirty and fun moments!

Fool Me Once by Staci Hart follows Stella and her group of Bright Young Things. They are young, rich, and loyal to each other. Their themed parties are fodder for social media, making every regular American wish they had expendable income. A young reporter, Levi Hunt, has a chance to enter this glittering world in order to expose the ring leader of the group: Cecelia Beaton. But he’s not the only one who wants to find this enigmatic woman - the police commissioner is also hot on her trail. When Levi goes undercover to get the story, he falls madly in love with Stella. Love blooms but it’s based on multiple lies. He’s writing stories on these exclusive, secretive parties. She’s secretly Cecelia Beaton. How will their relationship flourish with so many secrets?

Okay, I tried to make that summary as interesting as possible. Fool Me Once is not that interesting or deep. I love Fitzgerald and Zelda and The Great Gatsby. But Fool Me Once didn’t come close to the glitz and glam and extravagance of the 1920s, but that world is misplaced in today’s world. Stella and her group are supposed to be these lost people who have found family in each other. They are all amazingly rich. What do they do with all that money? Throw parties, of course. One of the parties has them donate toys and money for charity, so that’s good, right? No. It’s not because it is simply not enough. They are vapid and selfish. They are willfully ignorant of the world around them. They don’t do anything good with their money, except throw parties where they continue to bond with the same friend set. Their bond is based on feeling unloved by absentee parents so they cling to each other to find any kind of love. Sorry, but people without money can have that same experience. I can’t summon any feelings of sympathy for Stella and her crew. They have the means to do wonderful, meaningful things with their money. Instead, they choose to be frivolous. The book is described as a cross between Gatsby and Gossip Girl. It’s really just Gossip Girl. There isn’t any depth to anyone’s story to draw a parallel to one of my favorite pieces of great literature.

I didn’t buy the relationship between Stella and Levi. It starts immediately. It’s based on absolutely nothing - well, I guess it’s based on beauty and attraction. They spend most of the time at parties or having sex or in preludes to sex. There’s a short scene where they visit his dad but it’s not enough to show a deepening of their relationship. Levi has a history that should encourage him to find someone with depth, someone who cares about the world around them. Stella is not that person. All that matters to her are the rich and directionless friends she has known since prep school or college. What did she study in school? Why doesn’t she do something with her life? She tries to convince Levi - and the readers- that her parties are meaningful but I couldn’t buy what she was selling. I could see the issues that would pop up in their relationship because of their secrets but I just cringed thinking about how the inevitable fights would go. Nothing about it was soul deep about these characters or their feelings.

The subplot with the police commissioner was odd and didn’t match with the rest of the feel of the book. Clearly, there is some mystery here (which I think I can guess) about who wants to stop the Bright Young Things and their parties. But seriously, who cares? Celebrities have parties and spend more money than some impoverished countries are worth all the time. Why be so annoyed with these people in particular? It makes little sense.

I’ve read two Staci Hart books. One was quite good and had a deeper quality to it. The other was surface level and uninteresting. Fool Me Once was like the second one. I just wasn’t moved or entertained. I skimmed the last quarter. I just wish there had been more depth. Staci Hart fooled me once, fooled me twice but I don’t think I’ll let her fool me a third time.

OH MY STARS. Staci Hart completely swept me off my feet with this one! I was lucky enough to read an early copy and I AM JUST FLOATING ON A CLOUD RIGHT NOW. This entire concept is one I can easily get behind, and one I have quickly found myself obsessed with. THE BRIGHT YOUNG THINGS. Ahhhh they will steal your heart! The parties, the immersive atmosphere, the friendships... sight!

LEVI WILL MESS YOU UP IN THE BEST WAY. Let me just warn you. He's so sexy it's unreal. He's got this edgy sort of roughness, and he rides a bike, he's a journalist, photographer, grew up in harsh circumstances... he was just everything I love in a Hero. And the way he cared for Stella... SWOON.

Speaking of which... I AM STELLA. STELLA IS ME. I have never related more to a character in my life. The hiding from the bad things in life, being a happy sunshine all the time, trusting too easily, collecting friends and just wanting to always be surrounded by the good. GAH. I loved her so much!

Overall, I have fallen head over heels into this incredible new world crafted by our rom com queen. Star Bright is a magical experience that will leave you breathless and aching for more. Lucky for us, it's the start of a series! CLIMB ABOARD, FRIENDS because we are ALL the Bright Young Things -- and this is our time. 5 stars!

Disclaimer- I Love Staci Hart. There I said it and I have No Shame in My Game. I have been a HUGE fan of her work for some time now and have told her how much joy she has given me with her work.

Joy is a feeling we need to have, especially now. With all of the ways things are happening during the time this is written focusing on the need to have joy in one's life is major. It is something easy to forget or put aside due to so many things we all must do in order to make sure we are okay.

Because being OKAY, has become the thing. A goal. It is important to have all our bases touched, provide for those important to us, and then be able to breathe. These are critical things, things that need to be done and unfortunately aren't easy.

So when something makes me feel JOY, I rejoice. This book does that. It will take you on a journey and be sly in the way it shows how to make little things bigger and joyful. It gives us a love story to root for and even when there are hurdles to overcome, deep down inside, we know Ms. Hart will find a way.

I told you this was going to be spoiler-free and I meant it. I promise if you just take the time to treat yourself to this book, you will not be disappointed. Instead, you will awaken a feeling you may have forgotten, JOY.

Sometimes you read a book exactly when you need it. The themes the author develops over the course of the novel speaks to you, and Staci Hart’s Star Bright discusses an issue I’ve been grappling with this year. I would have loved this book for her writing and the characters, but this book just hit me differently because of the driving idea behind The Bright Young Things.

There is without a doubt an energy about this book. Staci wrote these characters in a way that makes you want to join them, grabbing life and living in the moment. These elite NYC characters are not your typical corrupt or vile or elitist characters. They are searching in a world for happiness, for a place to belong. Each moment with them makes you long for same, and, as a result, had me questioning some of my own choices, such as if I’m living in the moment, am I grasping all the splendor the world has to offer, or am I just hidden behind a screen, filling my life with things and people that don’t bring me joy. This book truly had me reflecting on what I want from my life, what brings me joy, because I want to be Stella. I want be my own Cecilia and bring brightness back to my life.

And heck, I want a Levi, too. Stella bad Levi are magic together. There are conflicts and drama, but it isn’t drama for the sake of drama, and their connections and emotions felt real. Their love was mature and reflective and one we aim for in life. I ate up every moment of them together.

This is going to be one of my favorite Staci Hart books EVER. This story is one that a lot of people in this social media age, which produces envy and feelings of isolation, need. We need the reflection, the inspiration to love and live, and we need a little bit of Cecelia always.

She’ll reveal to him the beauty and power in the secretive affairs, but not before falling for his lies, not before they’re too entangled to make it out unscathed. Sparkling, descriptive, and oh so fun, Star Bright is just the start of the Bright Young Things.

"You can't have the story and the girl."

Holy writing, Staci Hart! The prose in this novel is just beyond! It’s elegant, descriptive, flowery when necessary, and equally as blunt when the dialogue calls for it. I’m a Staci fan girl, I’ll read whatever she gives us, but this truly is her best work. I could picture every character, every scene, every party playing out before me.

I loved Star Bright so darn much. With jazz playing in the background I dove headfirst into the sequins alongside Levi. He’s a good guy with a chip on his shoulder and a goal in mind, his ill-conceived idea just luckily landed him among the right people, the right girl. I love that Staci gives us a hero to love, but shares his flaws right away too. Stella, in all her wealth and beauty, has a heart of gold. She collects friends, cares generously, and loves hard, albeit naively. You read this with a pit feeling in your stomach, waiting for the other shoe to drop, as readers we know the truth, but it's impossible to not want these two together. Alongside the fated couple are some standout secondary characters, Staci did some incredible world building with them, and I can't wait to see the others in their own novels.

Star Bright is a great new series introductory novel and stands out for just how fun and magical it is to read. The first time Levi enters a BYT party he goes down a rabbit hole of feathers and charm and beauty and we go right along with him. I could live in this novel and I highly recommend you accept an invitation to the hottest party of the year, too.

I was so excited when I saw the blurb for this one... but if I'm being honest, especially considering the situation of the world right now, I knew this might not be the best read at the moment. So I kept that in mind and proceeded with caution and to my surprise, I ended up enjoying it.

It's not the kind of surface-level story I expected about trust fund kids running around and spending their money on lavish things. The story and the characters actually had depth. I loved Levi a lot. He attends one of the lavish parties while undercover so he could write a series of articles about the Bright Young Things and find out Cecelia Beaton's identity. There he meets Stella who holds the very secret Levi intends to find out -- the fact that she's Cecelia Beaton.

My favorite aspect about the book: the romance, the friendships, and the writing. Full disclosure: the romance is kind of insta-lovey. Levi and Stella initially wanted a no-strings-attached kind of thing especially since Levi would leave the country for his career, but ofcourse they both got attached. It worked for me, I think they have great chemistry. The friendships are great because they're like a family, a place to belong. The writing makes me feel like I want to jump right in the book with the way the parties are described.

I wish more of the mystery would unravel throughout the series. I'm looking forward to it, there's so much potential with the friend group introduced (Z definitely needs a book!).

I legit love the idea and aesthetic of this series. Can y'all imagine if this was a thing?! I'd want to be a part of this secret society so bad! Can I at least live through it a netflix series?? Make it happen omg.

Ok, ok. I've calmed down ahah. But for real, this was an amazing introduction to what is bound to be an epic series! I am so curious about who the next couple will be but I'll legit take anyone, I just want more!

An undercover journalist who falls in love with the mystery woman behind the secret society that has everyone curious, furious and freaking jealous. Can we talk about epic plotline? The secret Stella and her friends hold so close is the secret Levi is out to uncover. Neither of them expects the other nor for their no strings attached fun to turn into the love of their life. There are many secrets between them, a boss forcing Levi's hand, a comissioner threating Stella and the Bright Young Things and who knows who else but together they face it all... the exboyfriend drama, the secrets and lies, the comissioner and anything that will stand in their way. These two are from different sides of the tracks but together they are magic, they are fireworks.

Star Bright is a fabulous, vivid and aesthetically pleasing story that felt like such a breath of fresh air. It's got drama, secrets and a little mystery. It's one book you'll wish you could jump into its pages and become one its characters so you could live through one of their fabulously epic and fun parties.

Although Stella and Levi's story wraps up, the mystery plotline is not entirely solved and it probably won't be until the last book in the series. I don't know how many there will be, nor who the couples are but I'm guessing that each book in the series is of a different couple but the major mystery plotline will only wrap up in the last book so keep that in mind. I honestly love when this happens, although I don't like waiting too much, I love the part where I get to come up with all the theories and then see how much those stories match or differ from the actual book. That's always super fun for me and I can't wait to see what happens in the next book!

Hands down, one of my favorite reads in 2020 so far! Original, intriguing and captivating. With Star Bright Staci Hart introduces us into a world that's full of sparkle, wonder, fun and money. I enjoyed every minute reading it and I miss Stella and Levi already. Can't wait to read the next book set in the world of the Bright Young Things!

Whenever I read a Staci Hart book I’m always won over by her talent. Her words make me want to leave reality behind, jump into the fictional world that she creates and take up residence in between her chapters. This book is so unbelievably well written. I don’t have the words to sum up just how beautifully this author is able pull together her imagination and translate it to her readers. But I guess you’ll just have to take my word for it, take the plunge and experience it all for yourself. ‘Star Bright’ was exactly the reading experience that I was craving; romance a plenty, exciting back drop, fabulous plot and dreamy characters Even with all the full out glitz and glamour I fully believed this story, the setting of the scene was done so well that I desperately wanted to join right in with the ‘bright young brings’ and I found myself craving more. This contemporary romance brought together a magical tale of New York charm, the thrill of a whirl wind romance and a well plotted drama. And yes I fully admit I am all about falling in love with yet another Staci Hart diamond and happily devouring her words. This novel was unapologetically beautiful and it brought with it a romance story that I won’t soon forget - bring on the next.

When I first read the premise of Star Bright, I was intrigued- a story with a Gatsby-meets-Gossip-Girl aesthetic that has the potential to both dazzle and charm, something that sounded so fresh and unique, twinkling in a galaxy of romance stories? Sounds fun! But given the current world reality, I wasn’t sure I’d have the patience for a story that hinged on privileged frivolity and blatant excess…. but that is not this story. This story is anything but frivolous, in fact, it is profoundly self-aware, complex and layered with meaning, with characters that are deep and fascinating and so well-created, with a world that is so vivid and vibrant, the texture of it I can almost feel in my hand. A story with writing so rich and expressive that you are swept away. A story with a poignant and meaningful point of view, with themes so acutely resonant that at its closure I had tears streaming down my face because I felt so touched, so awakened.

Our story’s premise is a clever modernization of the notorious Bright Young Things from the 1920’s, a group of Bohemian socialites who threw fancy costume parties and scavenger hunts, high on life and, well, other stuff. They gathered a near mythic fascination both then a now-journalists zealously covered their antics, famous photographer Cecil Beaton captured their story, and movies and books galore have been inspired by them (don't know of them? Look them up- they are cool). In this contemporary take, the mysterious Cecelia Beaton (cheeky update!) is throwing exclusive, lavish themed parties for a group of NY elites (the new Bright Young Things)- everyone wants to be an insider to the spectacle, the media wants to scoop the secrets, and the police are overly obsessed with shutting them down. Our story opens with journalist Levi being tasked to write a series of pieces on the parties, with the promise of a big promotion if he exposes the true identity of the legendary Cecelia Beaton. He meets BYT member Stella at the first party- SPARKS fly- but he doesn’t want to let her know his real job and ruin his chance at the story. Stella has a secret of her own- she’s Cecelia.

Their connection is easy- natural and unspoken- and despite the mountain of secrets between them and the vast differences in their lifestyles, you can’t help but marvel at how RIGHT they are for each other- the perfect symmetry of their connection. The way Staci builds their chemistry is so fresh and inventive- we have these sweet, authentic moments between them where we piece by piece figure out who they are all in the backdrop of loud, ostentatious, and spectacular parties. Yet, she keeps their relationship so organically developed, so real, and so focused. And, despite my early doubts, these characters are insanely likable-both so humble, compassionate, stoic, and loving. Levi is charismatic and driven by integrity, and Stella is joy personified, so very clever, an endearing optimist that dotes on those she loves. Despite their secrets, their connection is so profoundly beautiful, their love healthy and mature. Sure, we have some conflict, but we don’t have prolonged angst or unnecessary challenges- these are two adults making meaning of their life-changing connection while grappling with the parts of themselves that feel in tension with their romance.

Staci’s writing is some of the most technically magnificent writing I’ve read in a while- this book isn’t just prose, it is a FEELING, and these are not just words, they are poetry, this is art. I’ve always been struck by her incredible ability to create rich, vivid characters within lush, buoyant worlds- this is no exception, the writing is so descriptive you are swept away, the characters voices so distinctly pronounced, their journeys so complex. And the point of view- the thematic expression of this story- is so fresh, so poignant, so deeply moving, and most importantly, so sincere. A theme that is so ironically straight forward, so simple..but it is not easy. This is a story about the power of meaningful connection and the liberating power of committing to live with joy and love. Regardless of who we are, our backgrounds or our means, we all have the basic human need to belong- to something greater than ourselves, with someone that we share something genuine with, authentic with. And sometimes, our greatest barrier is our own selves- our own intentions, our own practices, our own mindsets. Somehow, through the lens of the trivial, decadent parties and through the eyes of characters whose lives most of us will never live, Staci bares the universal longing we all share, parts of our own lives that we should confront- and she does it with such gentleness, with such compassion, with such optimism and hope.

The threads of this story are so beautifully and lovingly woven. When they all thread together in the end, I couldn’t help but be in awe, feel mesmerized by its shining light. I felt rattled and inspired, curious but clear, discontent yet peaceful- like Staci had reached into my heart to give me a gentle jolt, followed by a warm and tender hug. I read this book when my heart was in a dark place-at an emotional low. I, like so many of us, am thirsty to belong. I too sometimes spend more time sloshing around in all the bad, seeking fulfillment in the wrong places, than I do remembering the most basic of truths- that life is a glorious, temporal gift. But I also have agency. Like Stella/Cecelia, I can choose to revel in life’s splendid potential- to intentionally foster real connections with those that matter and to find and spread joy and love, to be aware of life’s bleakness and not let it squash my life. I am not yet Cecelia Beaton- but I want to be.

Star Bright by Staci Hart was a bit mysterious, yet very much entertaining!

Levi Hunt enters the lavish world of the Bright Young Things where he is equally fascinated and taken aback. Levi is a born and breed New Yorker, having had to work his way to the top. He doesn't come from riches and it takes him some time to get used to the lives of those associated with the Bright Young Things, especially now that he must infiltrate their parties for a series he's writing about.

Stella Spencer is a socialite and a key member of the Bright Young Things. Though she's fierce, she's never felt love and affection from her own family. So, being apart of such a fabulous group provides that need for her as she finally feels apart of a tribe.

When Levi and Stella meet each other for the first time it's an instant attraction. The chemistry between the two is electric, but they both are harboring secrets that could hurt the other in the end.

Though I found the novel to be, at times predictable, as well as the beginning a bit slow, I really enjoyed it all the same. I absolutely loved the period costumes, parties, and I just couldn't get enough of the characters.

Star Bright is filled with drama, angst, love, and a vibe that felt very much like an episode of Gossip Girl! I am excited to dive deeper into all things Bright and Young... Until the next invite ;)

WOW wow wow. Staci Hart has truly outdone herself yet again! I went in thinking this would be a fun Gatsby-meets-Gossip Girl romp, and while that is certainly true, it’s so much more! It’s stunningly written and delves masterfully into that where do I belong? mentality that so many of us struggle with.

Rich, poor, whatever, everyone has struggled to know where they fit in, who they can really trust, who has their best interests at heart.

The writing in this book is so astonishingly beautiful. Each book I’ve read from Staci Hart has been more and more poetic. While I’ve loved every book I’ve ever read from her, this one has risen even above my exacting standards. She’s somehow leveled up her already staggeringly perfect prose.

I loved Stella. While I personally (unfortunately) am not that much of an optimist, I appreciated her pure heart and trusting, gentle spirit. I wish I felt things as clearly and openly as she does!

Levi. Poor sweet, protective, swoony Levi. I felt his struggles so deeply. He’s so torn between his job and his heart. He tries so hard to do the right thing which never quite works out for him.

The steamy scenes are not only hot, they’re absolute poetry. While I don’t mind an overtly sexual scene, I also appreciate the wickedly beautiful way the intimate scenes progressed here. Each sex scene was so alluringly, lyrically written. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a more elegantly written version of making love before.

I’m not sure what else I can say about this book other than: It’s beautiful, it’s hot, it’s both heartwarming and full of heart. It’s everything I want in a book!

Staci Hart is the queen of diversity and original stories. I have yet to read a conventional book by her. Not that unconventional is bad or conventional is boring. I think it’s simply in Hart’s blood to write unique stories, try new angles, and be different.
I’ve read most of Hart’s stories by now. Some of them were amazing and became instant favorites. Others were nicely written stories. And then there were others that couldn’t convince me. Star Bright was the latter for me.

I was beyond excited to start with Star Bright. It promised to be glamorous and lavish, just like the 20s. However, the more parties “I attended”, the more bored I became. It was mostly the same: same party, same drinks, same rich people. The only thing that was ever-changing was the theme.
Toward the end of the book, a thought popped into my mind: What is Stella Spencer’s occupation? Does she have an actual paying job, besides planning and throwing parties? I don’t think she does and that fact really bothers me. At that point, Stella was just another trust fund kid to me. Yes, the book is about celebrating life and celebrating being alive but is a rich kid party the only way to celebrate it? Isn’t there more to it?

Another thing that confused me was the involvement of the police, especially Warren’s role in it. Why would the police be interested in shutting down rich kids’ parties? What’s their goal here? The events that unfolded toward the end of the story and included Warren seemed not appropriate for a romantic comedy. It also wasn’t the right place.

Writing is another of Hart’s talents. Her words are magic and utterly poetic; it’s always a treat for the eyes and the soul. However, in Star Bright she chose words and terms that were not appropriate in the least bit.
Toward the end she wrote “in a blitzkrieg of news breaks.” Blitzkrieg wasn’t invented during the time of WW2, but it is mostly associated with the horrible events of WW2. I am not sure why a military and negatively associated term is used here?
Then I read “[…] in the hopes that I’d fold, keep up the ruse so I wouldn’t Chernobyl the whole operation.” First, why is it OK to compare a deadly nuclear catastrophe to inflicting damage to an article series from a magazine? And why does anyone think it’s OK to transform it into a verb?
As I mentioned, the police is after the Bright Young Things and Stella is not too happy about it. She thinks they are no fun or in other words “They must hate fun. I bet they sit around all night and read Mein Kampf and take notes in a Lisa Frank notebook.” Wow. I actually had to re-read this part to make sure what I read was not a figment of my imagination. This part definitely took the cake. This accusation toward the police is wrong on so many levels. To accuse anyone of this is horrendous!
This is certainly NOT okay and NOT appropriate in any context, not even as sarcasm or fun.

The idea of Star Bright was great. I love reading original stories. Unfortunately, the final result wasn’t satisfying.

FIVE BRIGHT YOUNG STARS

I could literally feel my heart bursting open and getting flooded with overwhelming feels as I turned pages of Star Bright by Staci Hart. Through a family of so called reckless rich young people, the author explored the basic and very important questions about society and humanity. This is a love story at so many levels. This was different. This was inspiring, moving and motivating to the core. It was beautifully passionate and die hard romantic.

Levi Hunt is on a mission on behalf of his magazine Vagabond. To find the truth about Bright Young Things and their leader Cecilia Beaton. The exclusive, highly exclusive and super secret group of young people who live for over the top and high end parties with innovative themes. Sometimes they break rules but not some major law. The country is obsessed with them. Levi has an in. But all his plans go to hell as soon as he meets Stella Spencer. The brightest star. Can he really betray her and hurt her after finding about her big heart? Is Stella making a mistake?

So Bright Young Things is nothing, and I repeat, NOTHING like you are thinking. Yes they are richer than gods. Yes they waste money for ridiculous parties. But they are family. They are a group of people who have found a place to belong in age of social media and superficial interactions. I teared up a lot through this story. I cannot believe how much I love this misunderstood and amazing group. Stella is like their cohesive friend. Who loves endlessly and unconditionally. Who makes everyone smile and be happy with her magic touch. Even after getting hurt repeatedly for trusting the wrong person. Levi is so far away from her world. He had a tough upbringing. And he is this honest, straightforward and tough guy. Stella turned his ideas upside down and it was a chaotic emotional mess. They have ups and downs. They have mistakes, guilt, secrets, anger, pain, love, happiness and everything wrapped together. I could feel my heart beating so fast and inside becoming warm with the angsty torturing and swoonworthy emotions. What a ride it was! The storyline was complex and captivating yet simply romance to the core. The chemistry was sensational and magnetic and magical!


Staci Hart's words bring out the best and worst emotions in me. Star Bright was a revelation. It was a journey of self realization, acceptance and redemption. It was everything glorious, heartaching and heartbreakingly brilliant about romance. And we still have a long way to go. I cannot wait to see where she takes us next.

Star Bright is the exciting and refreshing new romance that I have been searching for. The plot was unique and thoroughly entertaining. Staci Hart has created a world filled with glitz, glamour and parties that one could only dream of attending. Star Bright is a story that is so unexpected that it knock you off your feet and leave you begging for more. I'll be honest, I wasn't 100% sure what I was getting myself into when I picked up this book. All I really heard was new book from Staci Hart, and I knew I had to get my hands on it. And let me tell you, Staci Hart does not disappoint. Star Bright is both exciting and thrilling, and will leave readers salivating as they burn through the pages.

From the moment I met both Levi and Stella, I was hooked. You see, Levi scored the unbelievable, a coveted invite to one of the most prestigious parties. But, Levi isn't just there to have a good time. No, Levi is there to undercover the truth about these to die for parties and hopes to uncover the mastermind behind it all. But what Levi didn't plan on was meeting Stella. Stella is one of the elite, the core members to the secret society. And just one moment with Stella, turns Levi's entire world upside down. Everyone has secrets and truths they want to keep hidden. But, the more time Levi spends with Stella, the more the lines get blurred. The pull between them is impossible to ignore. Levi knows that being with Stella is a bad idea, but he just can't stay away......

I thoroughly enjoyed Star Bright. This book was such a fun read. The plot was refreshing and kept me glued to the pages. I fell in love with Levi and Stella instantly. Not only were they easy to connect with, but I easily got lost in the two of them. While Stella was a member of the elite, she never really acted spoiled or privileged. Levi was Stella's exact opposite. He wasn't used to the world of glitz and glam and what privilege offered. But, they never let those facts get in their way. There was just an ease with these two and it just pulled me to them. Their connection was one that was instant, yet undeniable and it just oozed off the pages. Levi and Stella's road to happily ever after wasn't an easy one. Naturally, there were some bumps along the way. Levi and Stella both had some issues with trust and honesty. Neither one of them being perfect. At the end of the day, I was utterly captivated by the two of them and couldn't wait to see how their story would come together in the end.

Star Bright is the first book in the Bright Young Things Series and gives us one heck of an introduction to this dazzling world. This story was unexpected in the best way possible and I loved every second of it. From the romance and steam, to glitz and glamour and a little mystery in between. This book was a joy to spend my day getting lost in. All I have left to say is when can I get my hands on the next book in this series???

Jazzy and dreamy. I never imagined how this story would pan out, but it is dazzling.

Beautifully crafted over double POV, this romance is laced with luxurious hedonism and roaring 20's nostalgia. Secret parties, young elite, zest for life, and a couple riding an adventure of desire, trust, and twisted truths. Really enchanting.

The rich girl turns out to be a sweet and creative lady who throws themed parties that I loved with all my heart. What themes! They were surprising and fun and tantalizing and kept getting better.

The handsome man is actually a double agent torn between desperate dreams and overwhelming guilt over his deception.

The relationship is so bright and invigorating, happy and passionate. I really enjoyed these characters. And Stella's friends are an absolute blast. I am foreseeing amazing stories in the future for this series!

The dialogues engage in a way you lose track of time. I found myself lost in the film in my head as Stella and Levi followed the clues to every party. So exciting. And I was relishing every spark of joy and delight, but also anticipating the dreadful moment when drama would explode. Indeed, when it does, it's a journey through soulful fears and feelings.

As to the plot, it actually feels like those nested Russian dolls. The layers keep adding mystery and depth. It's open-hearted romance. It is a celebration of life and the joy of it. Unbidden, tears of recognition stung my eyes at the final words that paid an homage to that very idea. It is also a hard look at our beliefs and moral compass and true identity.

Even a deeper arc to the series is planted with a darker, ulterior motive in the scandal surrounding these notorious party-goers called the Bright Young Things.

I think this author has reinvented herself with this tale, and the fruit of her labour cannot be more sparkling.

A VERY solid start to a new series, this is refreshing and different with a light feel that makes the pages fly by. Featuring a heroine who has found her own kind of family while partaking in an unashamedly lavish lifestyle and a hero who is incredibly intrigued by the world he becomes immersed in, it's an opposites attract romance that will keep you interested. Any complaints I have are very minor, and I am definitely looking forward to more from this group of characters.

The story follows Levi, a reporter who has been tasked with looking into the Bright Young Things, a group of wealthy young people who partake in themed parties while keeping their secrets among those close to them. While attending his first party under an alias, Levi meets Stella, a woman who is completely comfortable with the decadence showcased at the parties. There's an immediate connection there and it's not long before Levi and Stella are burning up the sheets, but both are holding secrets that could bring their relationship to a screeching halt.

It's been awhile since I've read anything by Hart, but I'm glad that I remedied that because this was great. It's steamy and interesting with a storyline that's both familiar and unpredictable. I loved the chemistry between these two, and though I prefer a slower burn, it also worked for their relationship. There's some tension because both Levi and Stella are keeping secrets, but the tone stays mostly light and sexy. I wavered on my rating for this one because there were times when the characters just weren't relatable to me, but that's also part of the appeal. Ultimately, there was nothing major that bugged me at all, so I'm excited to see where the series goes next. I received an ARC via the author and am voluntarily leaving a review of this sexy romance.

Staci Hart pulled me into the middle of glamour and blitz, where fantasies come true and the splendor takes the breath away. Star Bright sucked me into Bright Young Things, a group of rich, famous and often misunderstood young people who celebrate life in a rather extravagant way. A society about which is loud but at the same time it’s shrouded in mystery. And I need a permanent in! Why? Because it’s pure joy. This book is a tribute to every little and big thing that brings happiness to life. It's fireworks and confetti that’s falling from the sky. And the mysterious Cecelia Beaton is the fairy godmother who gives these all people a place where they belong.


The romance in this book is just wonderful. Despite the fact that both Stella and Levi were not 100% honest with each other from the beginning, both of them had their reasons. I loved their instant connection, even though they were complete opposites. I adored their road to trust and love. They both are incredibly caring and protective and they will do anything for the people they care about. They're also very passionate about what they do. They complement each other beautifully and they long for the same thing- to belong. And Levi and Stella belong together.


Star Bright is a delightful introduction to Staci Hart’s new series and I’m here for it all! After reading this book I have a constant smile on my face and I swear that I can see the new spark in my eyes. The romance between Stella and Levi is heartwarming and totally swoon-worthy. The message this book contains makes you determined to make the needed changes in your life to make it brighter. This story is joyous and covered in glitter. And Staci Hart’s words are the stardust.

When I first read the premise of Star Bright, I was intrigued- a story with a Gatsby-meets-Gossip-Girl aesthetic that has the potential to both dazzle and charm, something that sounded so fresh and unique, twinkling in a galaxy of romance stories? Sounds fun! But given the current world reality, I wasn’t sure I’d have the patience for a story that hinged on privileged frivolity and blatant excess…. but that is not this story. This story is anything but frivolous, in fact, it is profoundly self-aware, complex and layered with meaning, with characters that are deep and fascinating and so well-created, with a world that is so vivid and vibrant, the texture of it I can almost feel in my hand. A story with writing so rich and expressive that you are swept away. A story with a poignant and meaningful point of view, with themes so acutely resonant that at its closure I had tears streaming down my face because I felt so touched, so awakened.

Our story’s premise is a clever modernization of the notorious Bright Young Things from the 1920’s, a group of Bohemian socialites who threw fancy costume parties and scavenger hunts, high on life and, well, other stuff. They gathered a near mythic fascination both then and now-journalists zealously covered their antics, famous photographer Cecil Beaton captured their story, and movies and books galore have been inspired by them (don't know of them? Look them up- they are cool). In this contemporary take, the mysterious Cecelia Beaton (cheeky update!) is throwing exclusive, lavish themed parties for a group of NY elites (the new Bright Young Things)- everyone wants to be an insider to the spectacle, the media wants to scoop the secrets, and the police are overly obsessed with shutting them down. Our story opens with journalist Levi being tasked to write a series of pieces on the parties, with the promise of a big promotion if he exposes the true identity of the legendary Cecelia Beaton. He meets BYT member Stella at the first party- SPARKS fly- but he doesn’t want to let her know his real job and ruin his chance at the story. Stella has a secret of her own- she’s Cecelia.

So good. So so good.
Sometimes you read a book and it just does it for you. THIS was that book for me. I have read many of Staci Hart's books, but this is definitely moving to the top. It is beautiful. It's unique. And it's just magic! It's a stunning display of a concept that worked for the characters and their storyline and how they live their lives with passion and heart.

Star Bright takes you to a world that is full of glitz and glamour. The Bright Young Things are a group in NYC that are young, beautiful and rich. They throw the best parties that only the elite are invited to. To get in is not easy. This group is a family and they are there for each other. But who is the one throwing these over the top parties? That's the question on everyone's lips. And only a sneaky interloper may find out.

The public was thirsty AF for details, for deeper insight into the fantasy the group provided. Was there a higher purpose, or were they just a bunch of disparaging youths, parading their elite and exclusive group around to tease the masses?

Levi is a friend of one of the BYT. He has snatched an invite into his first party and he is blown away. He is a journalist with a background that doesn't fit with the Bright Young Things. He is successful in his own right, but he isn't elite. He had to work his way from the ashes to get where he is at. He is there for a job only. But what (or rather who) catches his attention? Will he be able to see his mission to the end?

Stella is the brightest star in her group. She shines right off the page. She is a character that I never wanted to see get hurt. She has created a world of magic and is always there for anyone that needs her. She trusts and loves easily, but that has hindered her judgment on a man that she thought was more than a friend. But when she sees a new guy walk into one of their parties, all bets are off. Who is this Levi and how can she spend more time with him?

Oh my goodness. I can't even. I can't say enough good things about the supporting characters (please, please can we get a Z book!!), the unique premise of the story and the way everything flowed so well. Even the drama and conflict didn't feel like it was just thrown in there, it was part of the plot from the first page. I never felt like the story slowed down and it was always moving at a steady pace, flowing together seamlessly. I got to know all the characters and fall in love with them. You don't get just Stella and Levi, you get a whole family of beautiful human beings. I even got to see Stella and Levi battle what they thought they believed in and change and grow as the story went along. Lies and keeping truths from one another isn't the best way to start a relationship, but even then they always stayed true to who they were. Like I said above, it's pure magic.

Overall this book was an absolute pleasure to read. The beauty of the escapism in this very moment was so needed. It is a well crafted story of life and living and the secrets that lie behind them. It's a story of this group creating a family. It left me wanting more in the best possible way. I fell in love with the BYT and cannot wait for more. Good thing this is only the beginning of a new series because believe me, you are going to fall hard for this story, this world and these characters. Stella and Levi were absolute perfection, but we've only just begun. Can't wait for more!!

The Bright Young Things celebrate a singular, spectacular gift we all possess. That we are alive............:we are alive, and what a magnificent thing that is.

I have this inherent problem with reading stories about the privileged elite.
Where others see gilded, extravagant joy, I mostly see ignorant shallowness and monetary thoughtlessness.

I understood what Fitzgerald was doing, giving a glimpse into luxury most of us can't dream of, but I personally felt he missed the point and somehow even glamorised the ugly downfall of Gatsby and his cabal. (Plus I just really hated the tone; it was a nearly hurl out the window kinda book for me)

🍸 Brideshead Head Revisited ? Firstly, beautifully written but SO boring. Secondly, I felt nothing for these people, not even when Sebastian died. It was a soulless paradise, which was the point but it was a point that got lost in its own self-importance. (I will watch the movie to look at Matthew Goode in period costume, though, because good gods, that man's a 10, 11, 27!)

🍸 Vile Bodies ? I've only seen the movie, and I felt the joy in their revels but again, I couldn't garner any form of emotion for them. Everyone felt so vacant and spoiled, blissfully drunk in their entitlement. Which, again, I know is the point of stories like VB , but how am I supposed to emote (which is how I read!) with the story when there's nothing to grab onto?

This is how I generally feel when reading about these people and their glittering world.
It doesn't not interest me, but it doesn't draw me in, force me to question what might be happening underneath the glamour and bacchanalia they drown themselves in, who these people hide beneath their burnished shell.
I just. Don't. Care.


Which is why I was tentative to read this story; equally because I love Staci Hart's writing and I was afraid this might tarnish her for me, and also for all the reasons stated above.
I didn't want to not care about her characters.
I didn't want to feel empty once I'd finished.
My fear, however valid, was inevitably, thankfully, completely unnecessary.
She did the unthinkable, she rewrote my experiences of every tale of excess I'd read previously and not only made me love the world I'd formerly been unmoved by, but made me crave every moment inside it.
And not only that, but she opened my stupid heart to a trust fund princess who I'd protect fiercely, at all costs, and a working class alpha-mallow with a heart of gold who wasn't some soulless bastard blinded by a piece of something he thought out of his reach.
They were, in a word, lovely.
Loveable, loving, lovees.
Not shallow, not wastrels, not unworthy of my time.
The moment Staci Hart dropped us into one of Cecelia Beaton's parties, a roaring Twenties affair, and showed a group of people with personality that wasn't surface deep and who cared for each other without condition, I knew this wasn't going to be another bleak tale of affluent, moneyed babies who's biggest problem was not pissing off mummy and daddy and losing their trust fund.
I knew I was going to root with them, cry with them, rejoice with them.


And not only the MC, but their friends (I need books for Zeke, Betty, and Joss. I demand them, quite frankly), and their friends' friends, and their entire world.
I've never cared about these kinds of people before, not en masse.
I've never needed a world like this, even fictional, to be maintained and encouraged as much as I did this one.
I've never been generous enough to consider it could even be possible.
But Staci Hart did the unprecedented: she showed me gold, and she showed me its tarnish, and she made me obsessed with every glistering crevice.
She Kintsugied it for me.
And like the members of the Bright Young Things: I want more.

“You’re magic,” she whispered into my hair. “Blood magic maybe,” I joked. “No. Real live fairy godmother glitter magic. And I’m thankful to get a little stardust on me.”

This is so different from all the other books Staci has written, and yet it carried the same magic that she always seems to portray in her books. Star Bright is a fantastical, magical story based on the exhibition by Cecil Beaton titled Bright Young Things. It photographs the young, wealthy and glamorous socialites from the 20s & 30s and shows off their extravagant lifestyles. Staci took that concept and turned it into a modern day telling that still showed wisps of the original backdrop. The books follows the lavish parties Cecelia Beaton throws, a woman of mystery that very few know the identity of. Society wants to know who she is, the Police Sargent will do whatever it takes to find out, and Cecelia will do whatever she can to remain anonymous.

Stella Spencer is one of New York’s most elite and surrounds herself with the most glamorous of people. At one of Cecelia’s parties she meets Levi Hunt, a smoulderingly handsome man who seems to come out of nowhere. The chemistry between the two is undeniable, and yet the secrets they hold could easily extinguish any flame that may have ignited.

And we stepped through the doorway to be thrust into fantasy.

This backdrop of this story was truly something else. While reading, I felt like I was one of the Bright Young Things experiencing these lavish parties myself. I so desperately wish I could get a golden invitation inviting me to one of these events, as they seem like nothing I would ever experience in my lifetime. Staci always does such a great job making you feel like you are part of her stories. Whenever I read one of her books, I feel like I could really be in the world she is describing, and there is no greater gift that finding an author who’s writing is so good you can truly imagine being in their book.

Although these characters are wealthy beyond compare, they are humble and down to earth. It shows the tug and pull between the rich and elite vs the middle class, as our two main character come from entirely different worlds. Staci did a fantastic job fleshing them out, making you connect with both the main characters and the side characters equally.

I’m lucky enough to be part of Staci’s ARC team, and we’ve been privileged with getting to hear possible ideas for the second book, and let me just say, I cannot wait for this story to continue! There is such a magic to this story, one that proved to be the perfect escape from the realities of our 2020. I really loved every second of this book, and I hope that should you choose to pick this one up, that you connect to it in some way and that you feel like you’re a part of something bigger, if only for a second.

So party on, Cecelia Beaton. The world needs you now more than ever.

This is a book one in the Bright Young Things Series and can be read as a standalone. This Levi Hunt who is a journalist. His newest quest is to figure out who Cecelia Beaton is. Cecelia is known for throwing extravagant parties for the rich. One day with the help of his friend he gets into one of Cecelia’s parties and meets Stella Spencer. Stella Spencer also known as Cecelia Beaton is in charge of The Bright Young Things, but nobody knows that aside from her friends.

She holds the most lavish parties and is being stalked by the media because everyone wants to know who Cecelia Beaton is. When Stella meets Levi, they strike up a one-night-stand deal which is perfect for her because she just got out of a long-term relationship and is looking for some fun.

But the more time Levi and Stella spend together the more they realize how much they care for each other and they both are left to decide if their secrets are worth holding on to if it risks losing the one they love.

I didn't really know what to expect when going into this story because I have never really read a story about secret society, so I was really shocked with how much I really enjoyed this novel.
I loved the chemistry between Levi and Stella. I usually don't really like instalove stories, but this story was done really well. I loved how sweet Levi was and how passionate Stella was about The Bright Young Things.

I didn't really like that the main conflict of the story was that they were keeping secrets from each other and that their problems could have easily been solved if they had communicated with one another. I also wish that Stella had some sort of occupation and was putting her money into better use like donating to foundations.

Overall, Star Bright was such a fun read and I cannot wait for the rest of the books in this series. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a light fun read.

Staci Hart really hit this one out of the ballpark! From wonderful characters, interesting storyline to the perfect ending, this was terrific! This felt so different than anything else she’s written. The way she spun the Bright Young Things was creative and special. The modern day Bright Young Things has an exclusive group in NYC throwing amazing parties with fun themes, all in secret, extending invites to a very select group of people. Stella Spencer is a part of this group and she is a bright star to everyone she meets. Levi Hunt is a journalist, working on a story to try and expose the group’s leader. He manages to snag a plus one on an invite and gets to see the party first hand. He and Stella meet at the first party and have an instant connection. But, they both are holding on to some secrets, secrets that have to come out eventually.

I did have two very minor issues with this story: the instant love and pace. I’m not a fan of instant love, and this felt a little like that. But, at the same time, you can also see the strong almost soul like connection between these two, so I was a little torn on this. The pace did get slow in places but still kept my interest throughout.

The writing blew me away. It was absolutely impeccable, almost poetic like. The words she spun together were incredible. I also thought she added some great messages in there. All the characters, including secondary, were so easy to love. I’d be interested to see who the next book is about. Overall, this was so unique, fun and just an absolute joy to read. I would highly recommend this one!

Star Bright transports you to a world of glamour, glitz and secret societies. It’s a world you’ll want to be a part of and never want to leave.

Levi Hunt is a journalist. He is working on a new piece and trying to discover the true identity of Cecelia Beaton, the individual behind the exclusive parties that everyone is talking about. Levi has an in thanks to an old college friend, but what he doesn’t expect is Stella Spencer. Stella is a trust fund kid and she knows it, however, she is passionate and has a big heart. She won’t hesitate to help her friends when they need it.

I loved the chemistry between Levi and Stella. It was instant and these two were drawn to each other like a moth to a flame. Not to mention they could melt a kindle or 100 with all the sparks coming off them. However, they were both keeping secrets from each, especially Levi.

Star Bright was NOTHING like I expected, but it was EVERYTHING! I couldn’t get enough of this book from the over the top parties (giving off some Gatsby vibes), secret societies, the whole Bright Young Things group that was a family I wanted to be a part of it. Seriously, this one a book you’ll want to pick up! It is a MUST READ!! I can’t wait to see where this series goes!
