The Homeswappers Mysteries: Boxed Set 1 - Books 1-3

Rate this book
Some people dream of a gentle retirement enjoying crochet, cricket or cream cakes, but for two sexagenarians from the ruggedly beautiful south of Italy and their lovably stubborn Basset Hound, a more cadaverous future awaits…Living on their meagre pensions, friends Etta and Dora, along with canine companion Leon, fulfil their dream to travel Europe in their yolk yellow Fiat 500 by joining an international homeswappers’ circle. When murder seems to follow them wherever they go, along with new friends and stunning destinations, they also discover a talent for sleuthing, and for getting themselves into trouble.

This boxset includes the first three full-length books in the series.

1. The Watchman of Rothenberg Dies – A German Cosy Mystery

Etta and Dora travel to a fairy-tale German town for their first home swap holiday, delighted by their neighbours’ warm welcome. But the welcome turns sour when the Night Watchman of Rothenberg is brutally murdered while his tour group takes photographs nearby, and the two travellers end up with a rather unusual souvenir.

2. A Wedding and a Funeral in Mecklenburg – A German Travel Mystery

Etta, Dora and Leon arrive for a home swap holiday in a German mansion, just in time for the celebrations following the wedding of their hosts’ son to a beautiful Parisienne socialite. But the festivities come to an abrupt end when the bride falls face first into the wedding cake, a bullet in her heart.

3. An Aero Island Christmas Mystery – A Danish Cosy Mystery

Two Italian sexagenarians and a loveable if rather stubborn Basset Hound are travelling across the sea to the historic town of Ærøskøbing. As the island of Ærø rises before them from the Baltic Sea, an unsolved murder, a mythical treasure, an unrequited love and a bitter family feud await them.

◆◆◆ Pack your cases, hop into the backseat and join Etta, Dora and Leon in their ancient yellow Fiat as they set out on their travels, solving murders, living alongside the locals, and making friends – and a few enemies – along the way ◆◆◆

She loves loads of things: traveling, reading, walking, savouring good food, exploring small villages, and home swapping. She runs her family perfumery shop, and between a dark patchouli and a musky rose, she reads and writes cozy mysteries.

She resisted writing as long as she could; fearing it might open doors to her already galloping imagination. But one day she found an alluring blank page and the words flowed in that weird English she'd learned in Glasgow...

Adriana finds peace for her restless, enthusiastic soul when she walks in nature, with her adventurous dog Frodo and her hubby Giovanni.

Good

I really enjoyed reading this authors series about two retired teachers who did house swapping so they could afford to travel. What adventures those two get involved in are truly mysterious. I will read as more of this series when available.
