NO WAY BACK (A Carly See Suspense Thriller) is book #2 in a chilling new series by mystery and suspense author Rylie Dark, which begins with NO WAY OUT (book #1).
FBI Special Agent Carly See, a star in the elite BAU unit, hides a terrible secret: she can speak with the dead. The murder of her sister, still unsolved, plunged her life into grief and awakened a new power within her. Sometimes messages come from direct contact, other times in dreams. All of it feels like a curse—until Carly realizes she can harness her new skills to solve cases. But her abilities are unreliable, and Carly must use her brilliant mind to complete the puzzle—all while struggling to keep her secret from her colleagues.
Up against a new serial killer whose M.O. seems to be to kill his victims momentarily then bring them back to life, FBI Special Agent (and psychic medium) Carly See is flooded with confusing and contradictory messages from the other side. In one moment the victims are dead and able to communicate—but in another, silence ensues. The messages are too clipped—and time is running out.
Pushed to her wit’s end—especially as she receives new messages about her sister’s death—Carly must hold it together and learn to depend on her talent while trusting her investigative skills.
But when her visions lead her to some place she could never expect, Carly calls into question everything she knows. Caught off guard, she may have taken it too far this time—and she may just be in deadly danger herself.

Two stars rounded up because I’m not sure if I am reviewing the narrator or the book. Having a broad British accent for books that take place in Washington / New Mexico is confusing.
The story itself is ok … I got through it, rather than enjoying it, but I think I’d need to read the physical book in order to figure out why- and I don’t want to read this again.
For one thing: I love paranormal details, but not when they’re a kind of deus-ex-machina that pop up to solve plot things.
It’s OKAY. It’s kind of a watered down P.D. James.
I'm not a reviewer who gives away the story, plots or characters. What I will say however, I struggled to stop reading this book and the first book in the series. Well written, great plots, likeable characters, I just wanted more! Looking forward to book 3.
Carly faces a ruthless killer that poses his victims as works of art. She keeps on having visions that sometimes help and sometimes just make her confused. No Way Back is a chilling story of crime and troubled pasts. The FBI agent will once more face her past and her family and might start to look into her sister's disappearance. A good story with lots of action and suspense. I downloaded a free copy of this book as a member of the author's ARC team, and this is my honest opinion.
## I am enjoying this series. Agent Carly See is likeable. Yay. Why so many authors write female FBI agents so incredibly unlikable and riddled with such dramatic issues is beyond me. It does not make them more interesting, just depressing. Not so here. She and her partner Lyle have great respect for one another and work well together. I'm looking forward to book 3 in August.
Polar basique donc, lecture sympa.
I’ve enjoyed this series so much so far!! I love the characters and how this author is so knowledgeable in many different forms of art! The only things that bothers me is that these books are fullllllll of typos.
I wasn't sure from the first book that I could get into Carly's character with her special skill, but after book 2 I have to say that she's growing on me. Looking forward to the next in the series.
Wasn’t sure about starting another FBI series since I’m reading quite a few as it is, so I gave it one more chance to hook me. I’m looking forward threading the third in this series.
This carries on the story from the first book and more interaction between the characters. The plot line is different and engaging, a hard book to put down.
