I literally don't even know where to start with this book ... I hope I can do it justice!
It gripped me from the start and wouldn't let go! I finished it in 2 days. Would have been 1 day but life got in the way!
I don't want to give too much away but let's just say that as I began reading I noticed more and more instances that I could really connect with. One of my worst fears is in this book (and I was too scared to read it when it got dark because I'm a wimp!)
If you love creepy ghost stories, edge of your seat thrillers and spine tingly suspense then this book is for you. And the end? ... CHILLS! and what's even more amazing is this is based on true events! Read it ... now!

WOWWW!!!!!! I am speechless, everything in this book I absolutely love.
I read this in a day, once I started, I just couldn’t put it down, I had to know what happened next.
The story behind this book is such a sad story, it was obvious there was some unfinished business.
I’m so glad I read this during the day, I would of been proper freaked out, not many ghostly stories scare me but this did.
This gave me chills, and also made me proper paranoid, swear I could hear voices that weren’t my children’s whilst reading this 😆
This was just fantastic, can’t believe it’s a true story. I couldn’t stay in that house for a year, no way!!!!
I do feel that there could be a second book?🎈

Definitely not one to read before bed! S.Graham has a way of setting an environment. Becca was a brilliant character who I was really behind throughout. If you’re looking for a page turner with a thrill a minute this is definitely for you.

Thanks to the author and Love Books Tours for the opportunity to read this in return of an honest review.

This book reads like a movie and it kept my palms sweaty the entire time. I love Becca and how she tried so hard to handle everything herself. She is so brave for sure. This was a quick enjoyable read and I loved the ending. I hope this means there's another one coming.

Highly recommended!

I liked the book overall. It held my interest, but was not surprised by the ending. I gave it less than five stars because of a couple believability issues. 1) She didn't want to bother her husband to tell him their house was haunted? really? 2) Every time something strange happened, she never suspected that it was the ghost initially. Maybe the wind blew it shut, those footsteps must be my kids. and finally 3) I would have been out of that house so fast. There were several times where they said they would be out of there in a few days, just a few days. At the end, they had to stay in the house another day because they rented a room for the next day. There was no other option? No way.

Oh my gosh! I read this book in just a few hours and knew that it was going to suck me in from the very first lines. There was no slow build up, the story took off immediately and kept up the great pace right to the very end. I liked that there was no long winded descriptions or unnecessary dialogue, however the writing style meant that I still felt as if I knew the characters well and felt empathy for them. This was a creepy book and right from the very first scene I was thinking this would make a great film. The fact that it is based on true events makes it even more chilling and I am glad I read most of it during the day. The way the book ended was perfect, without giving any spoilers, it left me completely creeped out and ensured that I will be left thinking about it for a little while afterwards. Highly recommended if you love a creepy ghost story.

I love reading stuff that is based on true events, especially where ghosts are involved! I have had a few paranormal experiences myself and my field of work is closely connected to the paranormal, so I was very interested in reading this.

Now, from experience I know that 99% of spooky goings on can be explained, is this story in the 1% that truly can’t be explained? I couldn’t wait to find out!

We meet Becca, a young mother with a husband and two children. The family has to move around the country a lot due to the husband's work, which is how they came to be moving into 1220 Greenway Close.

Things start getting uneasy for Becca from the very moment her family views the house, the events she describes would put most people off taking up residence, no matter how lovely and cheap the rent was and likewise as things continue to happen, I honestly can’t imagine anyone in their right mind actually sticking around.

I felt the ‘story’ had a very ‘Amityville Horror’ crossed with ‘A Haunting In Connecticut’ feel to it and as the pages kept turning it became more and more like a film script - this is not a criticism - I did enjoy the story, it kept me entertained throughout - as a story. However, whether that is a true story or not I have my doubts for many reasons. There were too many things that just didn’t check out, and the ending was just nonsense.

If this is in fact a true story then why leave the ending open? Is this going to become a series?

Overall, As I have already said I really enjoyed the story, it’s thrilling, intriguing, creepy and if you're in the mood for a great ghost story then I highly recommend it. It’s the best one I have read in a long time!

4 stars.

This was a very good quick, easy read particularly suited to the Halloween period. It’s a spooky supernatural story, but not too creepy. I like a supernatural story but am not a great fan of horror and this book was just right for me. It really intrigued me that this was based on true events and am curious to know S. Graham’s own story. I like the simplicity of the cover with the muted greys and the touch of colour from the balloon, the significance of which you discover as the story unfolds. I liked Becca and really felt for her as she struggled to cope with what was happening around her, how she managed to stay in the house for a year beats me. I would happily read more supernatural themed books by S. Graham.

Warning do not read this just before bed - you won't sleep! This was a great spooky short story.

I loved how creepy it was, I really felt the malice from the boy and the fear from Becca. Great plot with a good ending - I was glued to the book from the moment I picked it up.

I knocked a star off as I wasn't very impressed with Mitch's attitude throughout and thought Becca should have a more understanding husband. Additionally, Becca did make couple of odd decisions - but at least that meant she stayed in the house.

Overall, if you like your spooky reads then this one is a must.

If you still aren’t done with Halloween reads this is a short one that you just have to complete before Halloween. Especially if you are a fan of horrors with ghosts and hauntings this gave me the creeps but it was an absolutely well written perfect book for me.

I was a fan of Becca and I loved her character and you do get such an insight on her life her husband and two children. The author does an amazing job at scaring you creating scenes so petrifying you fall asleep imagining that it’s going to happen to you. Look out this is one incredibly fast paced read. Don’t read it before bed though like I did it does mess with your dreams.

It didn’t take long for this to understand the depths of events that were going to take place and for that I loved the author just gets stuck right in. I didn’t like knowing that this was based on true events either so that still gives me goosebumps.

I’m so excited to know if there’s going to be another follow up to this. I never read out loud but I found myself having to read it out loud with my partner next to me it made me that scared at times. He doesn’t usually get sucked into books so I loved that he got involved and wanted to know what was happening next.

Honestly you’ll be missing out if you don’t get this on your TBR and read in the last few days of spooky month. The writer is phenomenal, a true horror artist.

Holy crap this was scary and it’s based on true events. I’m shocked the author could even write the story after living parts of it. Nope, not me.

A family of 4 move into a new house.

Creepy AF ghost kid terrorizes the mom.

Balloons. Ugh, I hate balloons. The balloon thing will stick with you for a long time. The hair is standing up on my arms just typing this.

The ending will send chills down your spine.

If I wake up tonight I can promise you that I’m not looking at the clock.

I may sleep with the light on….scratch that….definitely sleeping with the light on.

Where’s my sage?!

I had the great opportunity to be a part of this ARC team. Let me tell you it was a haunting and a slicing suspense. This book twisted itself and was left in my head after I finished it, my thoughts still hasn't let go. I don't even know what I would have done living through that nightmare.

I think its well written and a great easy read. This book is wonderfully crafted and leaves you wanting more. Just don't read before bed.

Amazing read,based on true events.
A family move into a home that is loved by all apart from mum on the viewing, she gets a terrible feeling there is a bad presence there but keeps it to her self, she said it was just in her mind and no one would believe her.
Few weeks later there pulling up with the moving van and that's where the torment started.

It's a book I couldn't put down and in a few hours I was finished, all I could say was wow now that was intense.

This was such a spooky story. The fact that it’s inspired by true events is so creepy. I couldn’t imagine living in that house.

This book starts out scary from chapter one, and the scares are there throughout. I couldn’t put this down, and I flew through the book in a couple of hours.

I was looking for the perfect horror book for spooky season, and this book was exactly what I was looking for. I was creeped out the entire time I was reading this. From the first page to the last the scares just kept coming.

I don’t want to give any spoilers, but will say to read this if you’re looking for a scary ghost story.

A quick read and a thoroughly enjoyable one too!
Following Becca who moves into a vacant house to find things are not as they seem. At 3.39am things happen, doors banging, screams, alarms ringing. Becca starts to see a young boy who takes comfort in tormenting her. Although this book was short,  I felt it could have been developed more. Why Mitch wasn't willing to listen to his wife,  Beccas mum could see, feel and hear the same - why?
This books leaves you asking for more.......surely book 2 is on the cards?!

OMG, this was soooo good, it certainly gave me Chucky & IT vibes & kept me awake all night...I have a vivid imagination & kept envisioning that red balloon bobbing its way round the room.

Fast paced from beginning to end, this was compelling, creepy & definitely a one sitting read for me. I'm wondering with the ending, whether there will be a follow on book in the pipeline?

Based on true events, this is the only Halloween read you need this year & it comes highly recommended from me!

Many thanks to Love Books Tours for my tour spot & gifted copy.

A great book to read during Halloween week, but maybe not just before bed! The story follows a young family moving to the states from Canada, and encountering the spirit of a little boy that only the young mother can see. With her husband traveling a lot, she is left to figure this out on her own. The mystery behind the ghost will have you on your toes, as will the ghost’s antics. You will love this family, the characters are so well portrayed. The creepiness level is at a 10, but the husband wife relationship dropped my rating for the book from a 5 to a 4.

I really enjoyed this book. Everything felt real and I very much felt like I was Becca. She was very easy to relate too. I like how she stayed as long as she could. Not everyone can just get up and move a family whenever they want. It felt like a real life problem. This will be a reread for me.

4.5⭐️

I haven’t read many ghost/horror stories and for a short book, this packed a lot in. I read this in a few hours and really enjoyed it.

The ghostly happenings start straight away which I liked. Becca is a braver woman than me because I’d be out quicker than she is. The fact she felt she couldn’t tell her husband annoyed me. If my husband didn’t believe me, he’d soon realise I didn’t care what he thought as I’d be gone with the kids!

This is creepy and I actually felt dread for the family at night. I think the fact that this is based on a true story helped that along.

As for the end. Just no.

I recommend that you give this one a read. If there happens to be more then I will definitely pick it up.
