A shy bookstore owner, a sexy carpenter and the best apple pie with whipped cream you’ve ever had!
When Kami’s new bookstore is in need of renovations she approaches the Harvey Carpentry truck because everyone in town has recommended them. When James Harvey turns around she realises she should have known it was him. The pieces of the puzzle just didn't fit together in her head.
Now, the guy who drew the attention of males and females alike at school, is focussed on Kami and she has no idea what to do with the attention.
James has been attracted to the quiet Kami since they were teenagers but he never did anything about it back then because it wasn’t the cool thing to do. His best friend hated her from the moment she arrived in town with her mum and he's never understood why.
He can’t believe his luck when Kami Parker approaches his truck asking for a quote for renovation work at her bookstore. He adds a few unique clauses into the contract he draws up for her, hoping to spend some more time with the girl who grew into the most amazing woman he’s ever met.
A bookstore in need of renovations and a carpenter that’s good with his hands! It can’t any better than that, can it? If they can get past the rumours and lies, they get their HEA that they both want.
I live in Melbourne, Australia, with my partner of over 20 years, two teenage sons, and our Irish Wolfhound, Sarge. There's always something going on around here, and the dog is usually at the centre of the mischief. He's a bit of a sock thief, but only the oldest child's or dad's, and they're usually found on my bed!
In my early 20's, (prior to kids, and my partner, obviously) I sang in a couple of local bands on the weekends. Now I only sing for my own amusement, and pleasure. The bonus is, now I get to use my singing to annoy my children!
I've also been baking, and decorating cakes since my late teens, and I've made a lot of different styles of cakes. Everything from wedding cakes, to kids birthday cakes. I even made a cookie cake one year for my youngest son, it looked like something the dog left behind, but the kids loved it! I love creating new, and exciting designs for my family, and close friends, it feeds my soul, and my need to be creative, as well as my sweet tooth!
Writing is something I've always wanted to do. English was one of my favourite classes, because I could write essays. The only problem was, I couldn't keep to words limits, and I still can't! Mind you, my word limits are my own these days, but I still always go over what I have planned. Apparently, I can't shut up! Being an author as been a dream for as long as I can remember. Self-publishing has made that dream a reality.
My path to becoming a published author came about by pure accident. After reading romance novels since I was in my early teens, (way too early to be reading the bodice rippers that I was!) I wrote a small piece, and asked a close friend to read it. I knew she read what I did, and would tell me if it was good ... or not! She told the rest of our circle of friends, they read it, and wanted more, and well, one thing led to another which led to my first novel being published. That small piece, is now a very edited, and added to last chapter of 'Sneaky', the first book in my Sneaky Love Series.
OMG i am totally in love with James!! He is such a sexy dude i love how he is with Kami. How they always felt about each and never realised it is so sweet. Im glad they got a happy ever after! I love this author she sucks you in and allows you to be part of the story!
There is a lot to like about Built to Last - charming hero, heroine and supporting characters plus great realistic dialog. Honestly, I have had the same conversations that Kami and Kary had with my best friend. I've heard conversations between guys like those between James and Joe (one of the "perks" of working in a male dominated profession). Chelle Pimblott captured the small town ethos perfectly. Having grown up in a small town, I recognized many of the people Kami and James dealt with. The prejudice that James faces from the townspeople is real, as are the labels, nicknames and petty rivalries carrying over many years past high school.
I liked the alternating viewpoints between James and Kami. The switch of viewpoints at significant points in the story helps the reader understand each of them and why they are doing what they are doing.
I liked the way the HEA developed and the communication between James and Kami, but I wondered what I had missed in reading the book because the ending left me with unanswered questions.
I do like the way Chelle Pimblott writes and I will be looking for more of her work.

Kami was a wallflower in high school so owning her own book store and getting her life on track is something to be proud of.
James is a successful contractor and owns his own business, has his own house and when Kami needs some reno work done, he gets to help out his high school crush. Kami is the one he never tried for in high school but now has a second chance at making his.
This story is steamy and both have a determination to be together.
But it's not a book for me. Way too much hot and cold between the two of them, and Joe is annoying and Ed, is way too persistent. I just felt their was way too much drama and filler to keep me reading. So after chapter 8 I stopped.
I think I will skim the rest of the story but it's going to take me a few more days past what I'd normally give to my reviews.

This book has a captivating storyline that grabs you right from the start keeping you engrossed and on edge throughout the whole book!
There were quite a few scenes where one person or the other jumped to conclusions and/or chose not to communicate out what they were thinking. Made for a bit more angst than maybe was necessary. But it is wrought with emotion, and so well written that I absolutely could not put it down!

I have not read a bad book from this author yet and this book is no exception! The great plot and character development kept me so engaged throughout the entire book that I had a very hard time putting this book down until the very last page was turned!

This book was sweet, hot, funny, sad, annoying, aggravating... You get my drift. I loved it. The characters are perfectly formed. There's one that oh! You wanna send on a long walk off a short cliff, but that's the point. (I've heard there's a review about him!) They (the characters) don't waffle in their personalities which some do in other books. I'm grateful for that. I enjoyed this so much from beginning to the shocking end. I'm off to read book 2!

Kami I've spent the last few years getting my book shop up and running. I've left high school and all the horrible taunting behind me, now I’m a successful business owner.. but I can't forget the one guy that drew my attention. He drew everyone’s attention, the guys want to be him, and the girls wanted to be with him. He was completely out of my league and we all knew it. When I needed some renovations done at the shop, I asked around for recommendations and it was overwhelming how many people suggested Harvey Carpentry. I guess I should have put two and two together, being that we live in a small town, but I didn’t. Not until I walked up to the truck with the Harvey logo on the side and he turned to look at me. Damn, James freaking Harvey. Just my luck.
James I'm working hard to make my own mark on this town. I don’t want the reputation of my father hanging over my head forever. I worked hard in my apprenticeship and now I have my own business, Harvey Carpentry. The only problem I have is men warn me to keep my hands to myself and women almost expect not, when they hire me. That’s what you get when your father’s is the town love rat, you get tarred with the same brush. When Kami Parker, the woman who filled my teenage years with many an uncomfortable night, walks up to me and asks if I’ll give her a quote to do some work at her book shop, I can’t agree fast enough. I even add some fun extra clauses into her contract. Can’t she see past the rumours and assumptions to find the real me? Kami Parker as a client? Damn that makes me a lucky son of a bitch.

What to say about this story. There is so much packed into the story of James and Kami. The way the author interweaves the lives of James and Kami as well as Katy and Joe it made so hard to put this book down. I was glued to each page trying to see if James and Kami would get the HEA they both so greatly deserve. There were many bumps in their path along with deception but these two fought tooth and nail to find their happiness. James is such an alpha male that has it so bad for Kami and to know that she has it just as bad for James yet is so shy sucked me into their story. Can not wait for the next book which i am hoping will give me Katy and Joe story as well as the development that was thrust at us between Joe and Kami in the end of this story!!!

James Harvey is a sweetheart, he’s trying to live down his father’s ladies man rep. Focusing on his carpentry business. Oh, and he’s always noticed Kami in school but they never hung out.
Now as adults, Kami hires him to do some small jobs around her book shop. They both have a jones for the other (no virgins here, thankfully!) But trouble is brewing in their coworkers and friends, namely Ed and Joe. Sweet and some heat.

Quirky story that has a lot of possibilities. High school drama and family baggage. The story was kind of all over the place. Typos aside not to bad of a read.

This was a pretty good read I liked both Janes and Kami and enjoyed getting to know them. This is a sweet romance although it kinds jumped around at times but overall it was a good book and I will be checking out more from this author.
I really enjoyed this story. It had a fantastic storyline and that ending OMG. I need the next book now. Highly recommend. A brilliant and very enjoyable book.
