Five middle schoolers’ quest to save the multiverse continues in Rebecca Caprara’s Doppelganger Danger , the explosive follow-up to Mission Multiverse , perfect for fans of the Percy Jackson series.
This action-packed sequel finds middle school band geeks Dev, Isaiah, Tessa, Maeve, and Lewis trapped in a parallel version of Earth as they fight to save their families—and the entire rest of the multiverse—from the villainous Empyrean One. Far from home and running out of options, it will take everything they have to get back to Earth and preserve humanity once and for all. The startling revelation that they are their own worst enemies forces a painful Will they forsake the lives they once knew for an uncertain future?
This sweeping space adventure combines dry wit with a tension-laden plot to keep readers glued to the page.
“The warm rapport and slapstick humor the Cadets share is even stronger in this second series entry, as they’ve matured in their grasp of all things multiverse while maintaining an endearing commitment to middle school concerns.” — Kirkus Reviews

Cute, overall, witty. Enjoyed reading with my 11 year old, a bit of political humor that I enjoyed but went over my 5th graders head. The storyline of the main characters addict mother and poverty was very character building but it seemed like the others characters could've had more development in this second installment. There was never a dull moment, we couldn't wait to see what would happen next. Also, loved the futuristic technology was a kazoo and a hoodie that was nearer to an invisibility cloak. I hope we will see the doppelganger again. The ending lead us right into the third installment and I hope when it comes out my daughter is still interested in what these friends and band mates are up to or I might have to read this without her.
Fast paced, loads of fun, with twists, turns, and clever characters. Even the villain will tug at your heart strings. Sure to be a hit with middle schoolers. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.
