A biblically-based, optimistic view of the future. Along with a historical perspective, this book offers a clear understanding of Matthew 24, and the Book of Revelation, and other key passages about the events to precede the return of Jesus Christ. Satan is not going to take over their world. Jesus is Lord, and He will reign until every enemy is put under His feet!
If you became a Christian in the 80s or 90s, particularly in one of the big American evangelical denominations, you probably were "caught up" in rapture fever. I know I was, and I was all in. I read everything I could get my hands on, but I soon found that maybe I was a little too studious on the topic. I started finding inconsistencies. One book would take a rapture proof text and argue that it could only be talking about the resurrection. The next author would take the very same text and insist it only be referring to the rapture. Pretty soon I began to question if a rapture separate and distinct from the resurrection was a thing at all. This got me considering other positions (at the time it was a jolt that other positions existed at all). A decade and a dozen books later, I'm content to call myself a partial-preterist. (Don't be upset if all these words are unfamiliar. It just means you haven’t encountered this idea yet - and that's perfectly okay).
If you're looking into a partial-preterist view of Matthew 24 and Revelation, you owe it to yourself to read this book. Quite good.
An interesting read dealing with the "Partial Preterist" view of biblical eschatology. The book asserts that the kingdom of heaven is here now, which I can agree with. I struggled with the idea that most, if not all, of the events mentioned in the book of Revelation have already happened. The authors did a very good job organizing and detailing their viewpoint.
I have appreciated the practical unpacking of these truths they explain which help frame a way for much more victorious Christian living while so many are shrinking from bold Kingdom outreach endeavours into a fear-based lifestyle trying to hunker down and prepare for the end of the world.
Great book overall. Very well researched, compelling Biblically grounded argument for partial preterism. This book changed my mind about futurism. I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in eschatology.
Victorious Eschatology is a timely must read for every Christian. Excited to see Matt Crouch promoting this book and talking with Drs. Eberle and Trench. Now more than ever, the church needs Va ictorious Eschatology.
I had no idea what I was getting into when I opened up this book. But the authors did a great job of explaining themselves, and giving factual evidence to present their defensive why we have believed wrongly about 10 times in terms of our faith. I highly recommend this book as a way to get started to understand more about how so many for so many years understood what the future health for us as believers. The good news is none of us know when that time comes, but we can continue to know, and understand who god is, and be willing to display his character, their lives each and every day while we wait for his return. I love their biggest Takeaway is to know that we will be victorious. Who could not want to learn more about that!
I like the way they explain their views on eschatology, but their demeanor is NOT it. They act like their view is so much better than futurists. Like you could have said that exact same thing and not put any futurists down.
