Okay
Overall, an okay read, but it lacks the depth and character to make it better. If food, it’d be gas station food.

I had this book for months. I hope my weariness wasn't warranted.
This series ends here for me. I don't know what this turned into. It went from a guy being kidnapped by aliens and trying to survive on an alien planet by all means necessary, to a guy that is leading a planet rebellion with transported earth tech, all while trying to overcome the brain washing that was done to him.
It doesn't help that his little sister is there, and they are trying to play her off as some ambassador genius.
This was boring from start to finish. I think it's the author's indecision to commit to either a scifi or fantasy heading. It really isn't working out as science fantasy (if that is what the author is going for).

4.25 stars. I enjoyed this book, though not as much as the last—mainly due to Nina and Nova. Nina is framed as a skilled ambassador, but her scenes don’t show much to support that. Without more on her past or methods, her importance feels tied mostly to being the MC’s sister. With Nova, she came off as a bit selfish. The story paints her as well-meaning, but her actions—especially the romance with a compromised Magnus—felt morally off. I don’t think he fully realizes how much his mind is shaped by the parasite.
Still, I had a great time with this one. The military arc was a highlight, and Magnus stayed strong and capable, even as he became more of an unreliable narrator.

Not bad if you're looking for something fairly brainless to read/listen to in the background. This one took a hard turn from LitRPG fantasy to full sci-fi, but I still enjoyed it.

For all you action-lovin fans just know this, the action never stops when you plunge back into bk2 Executor Rising. I especially liked the inclusion of Nina, MC's younger sister back into this story ARC... and with the advent of Nina, MC decided that it was high time to stop playing the defensive game and start playing on the offensive line! So with a time bomb ticking in his head MC makes his move.
