4/5 - Finished this thriller in 24 hours because it was wild!! If you’re someone that typically reads romance only, you’ll still love this book because the romance is heavy in this book. - If you love Freida mcfadden or Octavia grant’s writing, you’ll love this because the writing felt so similar. Super easy to read and fast paced. Love that there was a bit of spice in this story too. - I love when I find a thriller where I can’t guess the ending and this book was exactly that. Such a great thriller! I know I’ll recommend this one again and again
The book started off great, but too many ridiculous twists and turns started happening. When I thought it couldn't get any more ridiculous and over-the-top, it did. There was just too much going on.
This book was crazy as hell. I loved that it jumped right into the craziness and with every page things kept getting crazy! Mia could not catch a break. I hated the back and forth between her, Tray, and Noland. The end had me shook though. I did not expect that at all.
My jaw literally was dropped for like the last 100 pages or so. Like, I’m still wrapping my brain around the fact that so much drama unfolded. It was unbelievable. In fact, that’s the only problem I have with it, it’s unbelievable! The overall storyline was just all over the place with twist after twist. The twists had twists! I barely kept up! The main characters were likable, but they did some annoying things at time that had you yelling at the book like, “why?!” Lol I liked the pace and style of the writing. I will definitely check out more by the author on the future.
Another “Black Women Read Too Book Club” book of the. Month. I read this with my book club. & This was a pretty good book ! Also the author is so nice & friendly. She responds to DMs & is active on social media. Can’t wait to read more of her book !! Okay so back to this one , It’s definitely not what you think it is !! There are so many shockers & twist that You literally have to keep reading to find out, what is really really happening.
Main character Mia , has good friends, a good job & a good man. Or so she thought. Until 1 thing after the other starts tryna take her out the game. Literally. She’s almost ran over , her house is broken into , she’s being set up at work , crazy emails & text . She really don’t know who to trust. I kept wanting her to trust her damn self. Lol. I enjoyed this book with the book club. Follow us on instagram & read with us @BWRT.Bookclub
The book was a bit predictable but I still wanted to read it. Mia continuously stating her mind was playing tricks on her was overused. I figured out who the stalker was fairly early but the were so many characters that could’ve been the culprit. It was a decent read.
Let me tell you this if you enjoy a messy novel this is the story for you. Mia lord help her, through out the entire time she had "issues" or drama, I believed she was to calm!I would've fell out at all of the drama in her life! This was a prime example as to why nowadays we must keep our circles smaller. The title definitely fits the book very entertaining (in my Maury voice!) 😂
This book gave me whiplash and not in a good way. The twists and turns were unbelievably jaw-dropping. The storyline was messy as hell and all over the place and didn’t make any sense at all. Truth bombs were dropped at random with no plausible explanation for how it even got there.
At one point I just gave up and kept reading just so I wouldn’t DNF. Big mistake, huge! I wish I could get back the time I spent reading this 😭
This book was crazy! It was good. Over the top, yes, but the ride to the end was fun. Poor Mia couldn't catch a break. She was getting it from all sides. The twist with Noland I wasn't expecting, but the issues with the friends I called it. I just knew Tray was gonna turn out to be a mess, but I was pleasantly surprised. Loren and Becky were a mess. If you like over the top thrillers, this is for you. It's action-packed from beginning to end. I'll def read more by her.
I give this book TWO stars and that’s being generous. This book was horribly written. It was written as if the author was just talking with friends. There was no background and it was all over the place. The plot was pretty good which kept me reading that and the authors a black woman. However, it could’ve gave more. Overall, I feel as if I wasted my time reading this and could’ve been reading something else. The book had potential to be so good!
So much happened in this story. Just when I thought the main characters couldn’t go through more trials, something more happened. The characters were well written, and the story line was thrilling with many unexpected turns.
This book was absolutely amazing and had my mind racing from start to finish! Everybody Ain’t Your Friend is packed with so much drama and messiness—I was totally here for it!
Was not expecting that twist. Finished this book in a day. It was amazing. The way the FMC went though so much just to realize who wasn’t there for her.
Read this book with the girlies in BWRT!!! We also had a meeting with the beautiful author as well ☺️💕 she was real cool and has some other good reads !!!
This book was definitely worth it ! Although I believe it was more suspense than thriller, I still loved it !! I mean who doesn’t love a good shocking twist !! Just when I thought Mia had it all, everything cracked and shattered like the black mirror intro 😩
I started and finished this book in 2 hours …. Tanisha you did your thing . I love that there was a happy ending because the way things were happening for Mia I was unsure at first
let’s just say i went into this book expecting a lot, the first few chapters were pretty interesting and then everything just went downhill for me. i wanted to like this book so bad, but it felt like so much was happening but nothing at the same time. this also did not really even feel like a thriller till the last 25 pages of the book. not to mention it’s soooo far fetched 😂. it was to the point where it just felt a little comical to me when certain things started to be revealed. however, it was quick and easy to read. i also didn’t expect a few of the revelations that were revealed at the end which is why i gave it 2.25 instead of 2 stars.
i’m sad because i wanted to like this so bad! it just didn’t do it for me.
Tanisha Stewart delivers a gripping mystery thriller with Everybody Ain’t Your Friend, a story that delves into the dark side of friendships turned sour. The novel masterfully explores themes of deception, betrayal, mental illness, jealousy, and envy, creating a rich and intense narrative that keeps readers on edge.
The main character, Mia, finds herself entangled in conflicts fueled by jealous friends and her own poor decision-making skills. As the story unfolds, the twists and turns keep readers guessing, making it difficult to put the book down. The transition from friends to enemies is both heart-wrenching and relatable, as Stewart portrays the complexities of human relationships with raw honesty.
While the plot is strong and engaging, the book does suffer from a few grammatical errors, which can occasionally pull readers out of the immersive experience. However, the intriguing storyline and well-paced drama more than make up for this minor flaw.
Overall, Everybody Ain’t Your Friend is a captivating read that keeps you hooked until the very end. For fans of mystery thrillers with a psychological edge, this book is a worthwhile pick.
Mia considers her life to be pretty much perfect. She has a close relationship with her mother, 2 good girlfriends and a boyfriend of five years that just asked her to marry him. Everything is going great until one of her girlfriends tells her that she is pregnant by Mia’s fiancé. Devastated, Mia ends the relationship and tries to move on. At the same time she almost gets hit by a car and starts receiving threatening emails. Thinking it’s the girlfriend, she ignores it. She meets a new guy and they start dating. Not quite over her ex, she continues seeing the new guy, while still holding on to feelings for her ex. Then she finds herself in a serious love triangle, pregnancy issues and someone stalking her. Her perfect life has now turned into a never ending nightmare.
WHEN I TELL YALL THIS BOOK HAD ME ON AN EMOTIONAL ROLLERCOASTER LORRRRRDDDDD. first of all Loryn needs to count her days because WHAAAT. Secondly, omg the choices that Mia would make would literally have me question her common sense. At some point I wanted to BEAT every single characters ass because they were just doing WAY TOO MUCH. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse BABY it gets even crazier.
This book takes you on a tome of twists, turns and tricks. It will have you guessing how, why and when the writing style of this author is written entry level fiction compared to most suspense fiction books but the story is good and draws you in. I wish the author went in more details about the mental illness of the character and expand more about characters that could have been a mystery but wasn’t who you thought they was.
OMG just so much MESS going on here! Mia Mia Mia, I just wanted to shake her HARD by the shoulders! Like girl wake up and pay attention, with friends like Loryn and Becky you don’t need NO ENEMIES. The break up to make up, the drama, Noland wasn’t wrap to tightly. I feel like we need justice for Tray. Twist and turns overall a good read that makes me not want to trust anyone ever😂
The storyline had great potential, and I had high hopes. However, it fell short for me because the plot was all over the place, and the writing was very chaotic. I also found it to be very predictable. I would encourage the author to work on character development and building up a plot. It was a good concept but lacked in execution.
3/5 ⭐️ Slow burn, expected more, but I enjoyed the bouts of suspense. I was ready to slap these people every 5 mins. Poor Mia has the absolute worrrssstttt luck with friends. I mean, discernment was non-existent with this woman 😳🤦🏾♀️ With friends like hers, who needs enemies?! My jaw was on the floor at the betrayal and deception in this book, and over something SO DUMB 😒
