Three weeks ago, I kicked a necromancer to the curb. Three days ago, I took a much needed vacation with my new love. Three hours ago, someone threatened everything that matters to me.
I’ve just met Nina Davenport, my newest consultant, and to say she needs my help is an understatement. For starters, it turns out she’s got one hell of a gnarly curse covering her. I have no idea what this curse is meant to do, but whatever it is, it’s not good. To make matters worse, Nina is on the run with a nasty ex on her tail who is determined to take her daughter from her. For the icing on the cake, this isn’t something that we have lots of time to figure out. According to Florry, the magical clock is ticking on this one. Whatever is coming is coming fast. If I don’t break this curse, I might lose her – and her daughter.
No pressure, right?
Oh yeah? And the cherry on top of the icing on the cake? Logan seems to think that leaving me is the only way to solve all his problems. But he’s got another thing coming. I am too old and now losing too much hair to deal with the angsty machinations of a man who refuses to acknowledge his own midlife crisis. No one drives the Wynter bus but Wynter. If he plans to keep me in his life, he better take a seat and buckle up.
Being the Oracle of Theama has been one curve ball after another, but this time I feel like I’ve been hit by a pitch.
A paranormal women’s fiction romance with a feisty heroine in serious midlife crisis, a talking tattoo, a chain-smoking ghost in a housedress, and an adventure that proves you’re never too old to start over from USA Today Bestselling author Lisa Manifold.
The Oracle of Wynter Hexes & Hot Flashes Magic & Menopause Necromancy & NIght Sweats Hoodoo & Hair Loss Incantations & Insomnia Witchery & Weight Gain Samhain & Stretch Marks - An Oracle of Wynter Novella
I do love the series - the premise, the characters, the consultants, Florry, Goldie, the magic... All of it. But it needs a bit more proofreading and editing. A few things are a bit confusing, particularly in dialogue, and in a couple of places it seems like something is missing. It's not putting me off of the series, so I can't wait to see how Wynter is going to handle her next challenge!
This whole series has evoked mixed feelings and this was no different. I really really enjoyed reading about all the women, their lives, their interactions and "Grand Central station". I loved the evolution of Logan and Wynter's relationship.
I hated the massive cliffhanger the book ended on. The actual quest and mystery is almost an afterthought because there is so much going on in the book. The character development is fantastic, the plot is lacking and paper thin outside of the characters. I still enjoy reading about all the women of different ages so I will continue the series. I wish there was more diversity though.
This is book four of The Oracle of Wynter series and sees Wynter still suffering syptoms of the menopause, with her hair falling out in handfuls, whilst also getting her next client, almost as soon as she had finished with the last one. Her new client is Nina Davenport, who is running away from her warlock ex-husband Rockledge, and has had to hide their daughter Kira, who is only six, with a coven of witches, far from home. Her ex wants her magical power of augmentation, to continue his evil plans and has left a hex or a curse on her that is draining her very life force from her. Nina has a time clock on getting Wynter to help her with her issue, before whatever he has done might kill her. Even the spirit of the previous Oracle, Florry, says she need to get a move on, but neither she nor Goldie are happy with her plan to gain some more time! On top of this, her seemingly hot and steamy new romance with Logan Gentry, has suddenly had the brakes thrown on it, due to Logan’s ideas that she would be better off without him. He has spent ages trying to get his old identity of Evander Thane back and all of the assets that are attached to that. He has no soul, not that Wynter really believes that of Logan, as it was Evander who made a deal with a devil for the special ability. As you can understand, Wynter is a tad upset with his decision and isn’t about to take his decision about her life and love! She also has her dead husband’s second wife Natalie and her kids coming to visit, as well as Florry’s old friend Cora, who Florry believes could be in danger. Wynter is about to have a full house and still has legal issues to contend with from the last book, but at least her best friend Shelly’s boyfriend Hubie is an amazing lawyer , who is dealing with getting back at all those who have tried to blacken her name around the island. Wynter has to ask for help and advice from the local witch’s’ coven, to figure out how to help Nina and also to protect herself, after some very dangerous and powerful beings come after her. Wynter is coming into her powers as the newest Oracle and seems to have some skills of her own, that have come from her old life. Every Oracle brings something from their own life and not all of them have been witches. Cora is a great addition to the team of people Wynter now has gathered around her and she take s a lot of pressure off Wynter, by doing all the cooking and prep work, which is what she loves to do anyway. Wynter may not win this case for her client and being at the beginning of her time as an Oracle, is definitely not the time for a failure, even though Florry and Goldie have told her she will have some. A difficult ending to this book, with not quite the outcome in some areas that Wynter would have liked. Still so much more to do and to learn for her future as the Oracle of Theama. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series with a middle aged woman who gets a surprising change arrive in her life, but still has to suffer the woes of age and change. I would recommend this series to all who love a bit of magic as well as romance and a bit of a laugh. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
I enjoyed this, but the story telling seemed too mashed together and considering the ending I honestly believe Ms. Manifold had a deadline and was like f*ck it. This book had sooooooo many errors and editing mistakes that after like the fifth one, I basically gave up. Wynter & company pick up right where we left off and despite this story taking place in roughly a week’s time I’m still unsure where we going with any/all of it. This is the fourth book and I figured we would’ve had more movement/involvement with just her current consultant. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still very much part of who she is to focus on how she’s continuing to deal with the other wife situation and her own love life. But just like previously, it seems that being the Oracle takes a back seat. We barely even addressed the hair loss which was part of the PWF genre so unique. I think I would’ve given this 4 stars if we spent a bit more time understanding the true crux of this consultant… kinda like with Logan and the Sisters of the Asp in previous stories.
Sometimes these series about the same characters can start to drop off, get a little boring or repetitive, that or ridiculous! Thankfully that's not happening with Wynter's story, so far each book has been better than the last. I don't want to give anything away, if you haven't read any of these books I can't recommend them enough. They are so well written with strong characters who you can't help but love and feel wrapped up in their lives. The world building is excellent. Thankfully no necromancers this time but Wynter discovers warlocks are just as dangerous to deal with. The regular characters along with her new consultant and all the trouble and excitement that brings. Also all the trouble and excitement that Logan brings, are they going to get anywhere this book? You'll have to read it and see. I honestly can't wait for the next book!

I really do enjoy this series. I'm kinda glad I ended up putting this book off long enough that the next one was out because it kinda had a cliffhanger. I don't recall if the previous ones did too. But it was easy to fall back into this world despite the gap for me, from the previous one. Since I read 4 & 5 back to back, I'm not sure when a specific event occurred but it seemed a bit on the quick side. It's not a huge deal for me, as in the irritation (or whatever) takes me out of the series. More like, hmm, that's convenient. But hey, maybe that's how it had to be based on how long the books are. I do appreciate there's not tons of rehashing previous events like a lot of series seem to do. Like I always say, if you're jumping in mid-series, you deserve to be lost.
Loving this original pwf series. Fast paced with a lot happening, but never feels rushed. Loving Wynter’s growth both with her magic & oracle skills and personally. I want her as my bff! Florry is a delight, her observations and dry wit, especially at the beginning of the book had me laughing aloud! Another rollercoaster time for Wynter, with a sharp drop at the end of the book. How is she going to overcome this massive setback? I’ve no idea, but I have faith that she will (hopefully!) and am looking forward to finding out how in the next book. Is it out yet? 😁 There were a few editing errors and a wrong name used at one point, but it wasn’t bad or frequent enough to detract from my enjoyment of the story.
I love Wynter and her interaction with Florry and Goldie, her frustration with them is so clearly felt. It is great that she has good friends who are there to support her because she truly needs them. What I totally enjoy is seeing how Wynter continues to grow into her role as the Oracle.
Her love for Logan is clear and his reasons for staying away, while being chivalrous, may not be something that Wynter is going to accept. Will she be able to make Logan change his mind? No spoilers, you will have to read to find out.
The only part that I was disappointed in was the ending, I really dislike cliffhangers even if they are not big ones. angers even if they are not big ones. They are okay if the next book is available right away.
Wynter is growing in her role as The Oracle and discovering more of her magic. With the arrival of her next consultant, Wynter clashes horns with a Warlock. The book ends on a cliffhanger and the story feels unfinished. The next book is out and queued up on my Kindle, but the cliffhanger is annoying. Wynter and Logan grow closer, the book picks up the next day after Logan left. She ends up telling Logan he isn't allowed to make the choice for her, that she wants to proceed with their relationship if he wants too. I'm not sure if this is wise, but I can't begrudge her finally living life for herself.
Hoodoo & Hair Loss is boo four in The Oracle of Wynter series and it picks up where book three Necromancy & Night Sweats left off. First I have to say I am not only loving this series but all the fantastic book titles too. Hoodoo & Hair Loss is action packed and filled with humor, drama, curses, magic, steam, well developed characters, and an entertaining story. My only complaint is that there were some editing errors but overall this is a great read and a great addition to the series. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
Wynter is growing in her magick and as an oracle. Her new consultant is in dire straits with a hex from her ex and a child to protect. Loved the characters, all the action and situations, banter and surprises. The storyline keeps you entertained and even a cliffhanger at the end will not discourage as it gets you fired up for the next big adventure. Author has done a wonderful job so far and can not wait for the next book.

Wynter is getting stronger every day and learning more and more. Seems like her life is kind of a mess with all that's going on! But her new love is back, so that's good! Now what's she going to do about the gargoyle issue? I can't wait to find out! I was so mad at the end of book 3 when Logan walked out. But I had to find out what happened next with Wynter and her friends so I got book 3 and started reading. What a great series! I am just loving it!! On to book 5 Incantations & Insomnia!
In this book by Lisa Manifold Wynter has a new consultant who is running from her ex and trying to protect their daughter. She works with the witches to learn more about her power. I love that she stands up to Logan and tells him what she wants then let him decide what he wanted. At the same time she wasn't letting her kids or him run her life. Derek's other wife and kids come to visit. I love this series.
This book was a solid 5 stars until the end. I like plot twists as much as the next person, but I am really tired of the rug being pulled out from under me at the end of every one of these books. I will read the next one because I like the characters. If the same thing happens in that book, I will be finished with this series.
Wynter always seems to have her work cut out for her and this is story is no different. Will she be able to break the curse on her consultant in time to save her from the ex hunting her and her child down? Logan and his midlife crisis, cause she don't need his rescuing. Interested to see what's next. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Wynter hurries to try and save Nina from a horrendous curse her ex put on her. The gang is awesome with new characters showing up. This is a fantastic book. It has everything in it too. I devoured this book. I will definitely be reading the next book too.

I will say that while I still love this series how is it that the author decided that a cliffhanger at the end of book 4 was a nice idea. The first 3 ended normal but apparently the author decided that now was a great time for a cliffhanger. I am going to be wait impatiently until the next story is available.
Manifold has taken her characters and plot twists to the next level, leaving me in tears! This is one of the most painful cliffhangers in my memory, and I pray that the nxt book comes quickly! Wynter has been working so hard, only to have it all blow up in her face. Please, let February come quickly!
This book takes you quite the emotional ride. Wynter is a saint. This was a page turner. Each chapter something new was happening. This series is on my favorite list. I love the characters and feel like I know them. A must read but read the first 3 books to fully appreciate this one.
I'm speechless by the incredible ending of book six! Winter is a strong Oracle who must be patient with herself and work harder than ever to save her Consultant, Nina, from her evil husband and warlock husband! She WILL win! She has too. Otherwise her World around her will crumble!
Wynter has her hands full and this chapter has some real highs & lows. Wynter continues to learn her craft though and steps up her learning knowing she's going to need it sooner rather than later. Wynter's humanity shows through in this one & she still tries to do her best for everyone who relies on her.
I love the strength within Wynter and her relationship with Logan and everyone else in her life! Hubie her lawyer is a hoot! All lawyers should be him! Seems everyone's relationships are growing in this one but that end! I can't wait to see what happens next.
Wynter is owning her power, and I love it! She is helpful decent beyond her Oracle duties and is such a great character. The storyline is strong, the mystery is engaging, and the side glimpses of her personal life give dimension to Wynter. What I DON'T love are unnecessary cliffhangers. This is still a five-star read in spite of the unfortunate ending.
This book ends in a cliffhanger which is okay since some stories are too big for one book. The plot and subplots move quickly and the characters are growing. I can’t wait to see how the Oracle solves the current situation.
I love this series! Some difficulty determining which character is talking during dialog but that's quite minor. Wynter is a bad ass who needs to build up her confidence. She's got what it takes to be Oracle.
I thought that the book, was such a page turner. I really loved this book. The plot of the book was very well written. I can't wait to read another book by this new favorite and great author.
