We need to find refuge in the apocalypse wasteland.
If the Warwolf vampires find us, they'll kill us. If I don't drink from Cypriot, I'll die. If I don't find him food and shelter, he'll die.
If none of those things happen and the zombie brutes find us, we're still so screwed.

UPDATE: Wow! A month after launch and I'm blown away by the response to Ebb of Three! As an author, you always worry that by book 3 in a series, that readers may become more and more disinterested - but nothing could be further from the truth! Thank you so much to everybody who continues to read and review the Blood Brute series!
Delighted to announce that the third book in the Blood Brute series is now available to read on Amazon / Kindle Unlimited! It took a lot of hard work writing and publishing TWO books this year, all on top of getting married and holding down a full-time job! A huge thank you to everyone who made this launch possible. I hope you all enjoy Ebb of Three!
I wavered between 4 and 4.5 stars for this one. This series is so good! The writing style is a little different (which I enjoy). The plot is devastating at times and the protagonist is a stubborn vampire trying to do what he thinks is best for what remains of his coven. The ending broke me.
I am a continued reader of the beautiful Blood Brute series; it is one of my favourite worlds to return to. With each installment the series reveals more context; both exciting and surprising.
Something that I welcome with each Blood Brute novel is Reuel's efforts and passion to submerge the user in Rise's environment. I often notice the repeated lengths to remind the reader of the world and emotional turmoil of the diegesis.
Rise's story is one that feels organic, not feeling like 'filler' or laboured content that many series can often fall victim to. It very much feels like both a tragic yet meaningful journey that Rise must struggle both in and against a world undone.
Ebb of Three evolves the story in a way that challenges both Rise and the reader. It evokes questions of choice, fate and morality that can often allow the audience to feel two sides of the same coin: anxious but excited. The plot twists and character evolutions that we see in Ebb of Three are invited and leave me wanting to know more. This particular installment was one of the most exciting regarding the conflict that Rise must face!
My only minor question is of the contrast of rich descriptive scenes and characters, clashing against some choices of sentence structures. Some scenes could have been better balanced with longer or varied styles of delivery. Although contrast is brilliant, some sentences felt a little rigid. This is only a minor thought and did not change my considerations of a 5 star review. This series is impressive, original and beautifully crafted and I think anything less would be unworthy.
I hadn't read the first two books in the Blood Brute series but after reading the Ebb Of Three, I will now. The world building is just incredible and the characters' psyche is just so realistic.

Undoubtedly Dixon Reuel’s best book yet. Always a master of atmosphere, she immediately plunges you into the depths of the Irish woods along with the vampire Rise and his human Cypriot. The writing is gorgeous, finding beauty even at the end of the world, and the characters are heartbreakingly real. Reuel never shies away from dealing with her characters’ trauma, and the events from book 2 leave deep marks on them that aren’t just brushed aside for book 3. Still, the start of Ebb of Three feels like a gentle relief after Rise and Cypriot’s imprisonment, but can Rise trust this new-found peace?
I enjoyed this book. I liked seeing how Rise is getting used to his new powers. I was happy to see the return of an old friend and even more saddened by the loss of another beloved friend. I look forward to seeing what is still to come for Rise, his friends, and the Warwolves.
I received an advance reader copy of Ebb of Three for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
As comfortable as I'd grown with Dixon Reuel's Blood Brute series, this third entry has taken me completely by surprise. As much as I enjoyed Rise of One and Fall of Two (Dark Urban Paranormal Fantasy): Blood Brute - Book 2 (both of which I have rated four stars in my reviews here), I get the sense that the author has refined her voice, telling a more confident story.
So, this is a five star review, something it thoroughly earns.
While this is the third chapter in the Blood Brute series, it gets new readers up to speed in the opening paragraphs. For those of us who have read the first two entries, it covers this off naturally, part of the story, without feeling like it is an unnecessary info dump.
Sitting between the length of the first two books in the series, I found Ebb of Three to be a quicker read. This is not due to any simplification of the story or writing; instead, thanks to its text flowing more naturally, and helping the story along.
The story itself is also my favourite of the three volumes released so far: it is the most tragic entry, yet the most peaceful, with more levity to than the earlier entries. The result is a story that is beautifully bittersweet.
The book moves slowly, but not too slowly; the author has crafted a story that draws the reader in, unfurling naturally. I had some issues with Book Two's pacing, but have no such worries here.
I've also not been a large fan of the vampire's dialogue in previous entries. While this is purely a personal preference, I the dialogue in Ebb of Three to be more enjoyable, yet sounding like the characters from the first two entries.
Ebb of Three is simply wonderful. If you enjoy tales of suspense with some real heart and soul, you can't go wrong.
My full review will be posted on my website on 11 February, following my reviews of the earlier Blood Brute entries earlier in the week. For my full thoughts about the series so far, you can click this link.
Ugh, I don't even know how to review this. It's just... it's so good. There's so much to this series that I love. The world, the characters, the ridiculous roller-coaster of emotions with each instalment. I never thought I could feel so sympathetic towards a vampire, but Rise is absolutely unforgettable and I can't wait to see what happens next. I highly recommend this beautifully written series.
Thank you Dixon Reuel for my ARC copy! All thoughts an opinions are my own.
A really great part to this brilliant dystopian vampire series! Excellent selection of characters & as always a really amazing storyline & plot ideas. A real surprise towards the end, which left me gob smacked!! A really super series & story!
This is a wonderful continuation of the vampire Rise's story. This time around the story involves new relationships formed and old ones revisited, but also a focus is very much on finding peace in what you cannot change. This makes the overall emotion of the story very relatable since inevitably we will all find ourselves in that position at some point in some way.
Probably my favorite part though, was the addition of the children. They added a brighter and lighter element to an otherwise intense plot. I don't think I even knew I needed it, until it was there. A well thought out bit of humanity beyond Cypriot.
As usual, Ms. Reuel delivers a well written story that has me looking forward to the next installment.
Terrified of recapture, the outlawed Vampire Rise & his human, Cypriot, must gain passage to their home country in order to find the rest of their coven. But the seaport they must navigate holds enemies old and new. Our two main characters Rise and Cypriot make new friends in here They what to build a new home in this dark place even though it is full of danger. This world is much larger here than the others they have visited. The adventures continue on with lots of action and many twists and turns..
Rise and Cypriot have found a new home after escaping from Basilica X, but Rise is restless and driven to reunite his coven and rebuild Owl Court on Holly Hill.
This is another deceptively quiet book. It start out slowly but don't let that fool you. And the writing just keeps getting better as the series goes on.

Now free from his past captors, Rise struggles to come to terms with his new reality, yearning for his old home and wishing for his coven. But there is more in store for Rise than he realises. A great twist, and not the usual Vampire story, this author has wound in a new possible reality for our apocalypse enjoying age.

This is a brilliant read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and found myself second guessing every thought I had continuously. Can't wait to read what the author brings out next. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
Book 3 of the 'Blood Brute ' series is the best yet as we follow the vampire Rise and what remains of his coven in post-apocalyptic Ireland. Dixon Reuel is one of my favourite fantasy authors. This book is tighter and sharper than ever. She writes beautifully with exquisite world building and character development. This series is a triumph and a must for all fantasy fans.
Allow two days of reading time for the PG15 paranormal dystopian journey of Rise and Cypriot from where they have been imprisoned to the next stage in their quest.

I enjoyed Ebb of Three. It was good to see where Rise and Cypriot's journey took them after escaping Basilca X and to see them find some sanctuary. My only criticism is that by this book, I was really beginning to tire of Cypriot's character. Despite all the traumas he suffered in the previous book eliciting some sympathy, I just couldn't get behind him and Rise's relationship, and I was actually rooting for Rise and Iskar. Events at the end of this book softened that a bit, but it's made me interested to know what direction the story will take now.
Ebb of Three is the third instalment in Dixon Reuel’s Blood Brute series. The story begins with the two main characters, Rise (the Invoker) and Cypriot (his human), as they balance their newfound freedom with the challenges of finding a home in a dangerous world.
Ebb of Three is set in a much richer and wider world than the first two books, and Dixon does a fantastic job of drawing the reader into the landscape inhabited by the characters. Much of the story is set in the city of Port, where Rise and Cypriot make new friends, but also encounter deadly enemies from Fall of Two, including the ever-present Warwolves. As always, Rise assumes the responsibility of protecting the group while also managing to encourage them onwards towards his dream of establishing a new home and rebuilding his coven.
Ebb of Three is a whirlwind. All too soon, I found myself on the last page, dying for more.
Thanks to the author, Dixon Reuel, for an advance copy of Ebb of Three. The above is an honest and voluntary review.
Excellent book. I haven't read the previous two books in this series before picking this one up, but I definitely want to go back and read them. This is the first book I've read by this author. Very well written. Great world building. A zombie apocalypse, vampire covens, and what's left of humanity. This story had action and suspense. I loved the characters and their relationships. This story was unique and a real treasured find. I'm excited to read more. 5 stars.
A very good dark fantasy with an original storyline and complicated characters. Contains great world building and plenty of action. An enjoyable page turning read that I highly recommend. Ready for book four in this well written series.
Couldn’t finish this series, though I really tried. The main character is an insufferable creature with zero accountability. I got tired of reading his self-obsessed thoughts, and having him blame everything on his lover.
