Crossing the Line is book two in the Cross Creek series by Kimberly Kincaid. I loved the first book in this series so have been so looking forward to Eli’s story. Eli is the youngest of the three Cross brothers and I can’t wait to tell you about him.
In the first book of this series, Crossing Hearts, we met the middle brother, Hunter Cross. But we also got to know Owen who is the oldest, and Eli who is the youngest. We also saw that there is some deep tension between Owen and Eli. The Cross family lives and breathes Cross Creek Farm. Except for Eli. He has never felt the same passion for farming his brothers and father feel. He doesn’t feel like he belongs. His brothers have specific responsibilities on the farm. Eli just floats, picks up what the others don’t. Owen is constantly on him about not doing enough, about not pulling his weight. Cross Creek is going through some rough times financially so they all need to double down to make ends meet.
When Eli runs into his long time enemy from a rival farm in the town feed store, words are exchanged and the other guy throws down a wager. One that Eli should have known better to accept. But all his buttons were pushed and he accepted the wager. Now they have one month to win this competition. If they lose, it could make an already bad situation at Cross Creek a lot worse. A very lot worse.
Scarlett Edwards-Stewart lived most of her early childhood in foster homes. After she was adopted, she still moved around a lot with her adoptive two dads. So Scarlett has never known a set place as home. Now as an adult, she is a travel photographer. She spends most of her life on the road. Scarlett’s only real friend’s magazine, FoodE, is in trouble. If Scarlett doesn’t help her, she might lose the magazine. She’s got some time off right now so she agrees to spend one month at Cross Creek, taking pictures and videos for the magazine to publish. She needs to document life on the farm. Scarlett is no country girl but for her friend, she can do this. Especially once she meets the man who is to be her main escort during her time there.

Eli and Scarlett are off to a rough start. Eli wants no part of this fiasco. But once he really realizes that this process could really help boost revenue on the farm, maybe help to win the bet he made, he’s all in. The more time these two spend together, the closer they get, the more they respect one another. As Eli and Scarlett’s relationship gets stronger, Eli begins to drop his facade and secrets come out, things he has never told anyone, hopes and dreams he has never shared.
This was such a wonderful story. It’s the story of a man who had big dreams but felt that that is all they could ever be, dreams. Until one little tiny slip of a woman bulldozes into his life and turns it upside down. Most of all, though, she teaches him to believe in himself. He’s beginning to think that together, they can do anything. That together, just maybe those dreams might have a chance at coming true.
I look forward to the next book in this series which will be Owen’s story. I can’t wait to go back and visit Cross Creek Farm again.

Y'all, I am so excited for the re-release of Crossing the Line on August 3, 2021!
What exactly does a "re-release" mean? Well, it means that the book will be re-published under my Indie romance publishing label, and that means it gets a few updates, like a new cover (I. Am. SWOONING!) and a super fun bonus epilogue that was not in the original.
This IS the same sexy small-town romance as before. Scarlett and Eli's story will not change (other than a few very minor updates to technology, etc.) Same steamy opposites attract romance. Fresh, new look.
I can't wait to share it with you!

I thoroughly enjoyed the first book in Kimberly Kincaid’s Crossing Hearts series, but the second book, Crossing The Line took me by surprise in a good way. There was animosity, there were secrets, there was a lot on the line, and there were two people seemingly so mismatched but had more in common than either one ever expected. Multi dimensional characters, exciting opportunities, revelations no one expected, and falling in love when you least expect it made Crossing The Line a superb romance.
Eli Cross is the baby of the Cross family and the one his family sees as the slacker, the screw-up. Eli sees himself as the “extra” around their family farm; doing the jobs no one else wants especially him because while farm life might be in his blood, it isn’t in his heart. Eli has a passion for words and he’s been keeping big secrets from his family and hiding it all behind is happy, go lucky façade. When Scarlett Edwards-Steward, a famed photojournalist, comes to his family’s farm to chronicle farm life for her best friend’s failing online magazine, the tension between these two is fierce.
Ms. Kincaid crafted an exceptional story with many layers. The relationship between the four men who make up the Cross family is at times strained, but there is never any doubt that these four men love one another fiercely and will always have each other’s back. The farm has been in the family for generations and it means something to these men who have worked it all their lives. Eli’s reluctance to share with his family his secrets is selfless because he knows how much the farm and the land mean to them, and despite the fact he sometimes feels like the odd man out he does love them and the town he grew up in. I loved how Scarlett came in, a world traveler who never really had any roots anywhere, and not only fell in love with the farm, but had all of these men wrapped around her finger even Eli after some pretty harsh moments. She gave them hope, she gave them a different perspective on life, and in return they taught her about home, hearth, and family. It really was a beautiful thing to watch happen.
I loved everything about this book even the difficult times because that’s what life is like; you have to weather the storm to see the light. Light hearted yet heart breaking, fun but tempered with serious moments, sensual and sexy, Crossing The Line is a perfect romance.

Everyone thinks Eli is a screw up and lazy. That's exactly how we saw him in Cross Creek #1 with Hunter's story. Ms Kincaid led us astray. Fine, he had a grin that could charm the pants off any living female, and looked good in jeans and cowboy boots. But she never hinted at his secret love that made me sigh heavily when it came out. Bring on Scarlett, the hotshot photographer from New York who's going to make the farm a household name (or at least the farm to table ideal), and the heat is not just the temperature before the sun sets. Eli is charged with "babysitting" her while trying to make sure all the chores are done and his secret stays safe. I laughed like crazy, and sighed heavily over Walt Whitman quotes. Wait til you meet Clarabelle! And the twist. And the bet. And...and...just go get the dang book and read it! Why, you ask? Because Kimberly Kincaid knows how to write a feel good-steamy-funny-heartfelt-you cannot stop reading book. I have yet to be disappointed by anything she has written.

Crossing the Line by Kimberly Kincaid was a beautifully written and heartwarming read.
I really enjoyed the storyline, the plot held my interest all throughout the book and found myself reading it in one sitting.
Eli and Scarlett were likable and relatable characters, I enjoyed watching their relationship unfold, they warmed my heart and I loved how well they suited each other. These two totally belonged together.
Crossing the Line is the second book from the Cross Creek series, each book can be read as a standalone and I highly recommend them.

Book Review For: 'Crossing the Line' by Kimberly Kincaid 'Crossing the Line' by Kimberly Kincaid is book Two in the "Cross Creek" series. This is the story of Scarlett Edwards-Stewart and Eli Cross. I have not yet the previous books, so for me this was a standalone book.Eli is the youngest of the brothers in the Cross Family. Eli seems to get a bad deal at every turn when working with his family. Yes, Eli doesn't make sound choices but when he makes these choices he has his heart in them. Like when he chooses to secretly help his dad with some of his work and then gets in trouble because now one knows he did it and they think he just be slacking somewhere. Eli even goes so far as to make a heated bet with a long standing rial to him when that person talks bad about the Family Farm. But there is more to Eli than he lets on...which Scarlett starts to see. Scarlett has an unusual childhood being in the foster care than taking in by two daddies. Scarlett is now making a name for herself as a photographer and been working really hard. When her best friend confides in her that she needs help Scarlett quickly takes up the roll to help her by taking on the story of the Cross Family. Scarlett will work on taking pictures and getting some in site on the family for her friends magazine. When Eli is put in charge of her and helping her get what she needs for the story, he is at first upset. But they start to get to know each other and find that there first impressions of each other are not who they really are. Sweet Romance Story!

Eli Cross’s modus operandi is to operate with a firmly-affixed front of cocky deflecting, grinning-and-bearing, and simply be labelled as the good-for-nothing brother who’s also the least hardworking one on the farm that is in sore need of a good financial haul.
But his love has never been for agriculture like the rest of his brothers and being stuck in that position means to just stay as much under the radar and keep his love for journalism under wraps until it, well, all blows up in his face. And as we all know it, it does, upon the arrival of a famous photographer who’s out in the middle of nowhere as a favour for a friend.
I just wasn't too convinced at the reason he had to keep his love for writing a secret because it simply doesn't seem like something to be ashamed about. That he didn't assert his own love for it while working on the farm was quite incomprehensible to me.
What was surprising though, was that the cocky, hell-if-I-care exterior was nowhere in sight when Scarlett shows up and tags along. He’s distanced but polite at first, without the charm that I thought he’d be laying on thick to deflect Scarlett’s curiosity about his personal life. Initially, I had a hard time figuring out how Eli/Scarlett would work out in ‘Crossing the Line’ but it eventually became clear that they were displaced in their own, similar ways—and acted out in an opposite manner—and in so doing, rather poignantly find their common ground.
I wasn’t entirely sure what purpose the last bit of drama that came in at the end served though (apart from inserting the customary-ending conflict between Eli and Scarlett) and that kind of threw me off the narrative a bit. The ending as a result, came rather abruptly and we don't really know how Eli/Scarlett work their arrangement out past their love declarations so that felt a little unfinished.
That part aside, Kimberly Kincaid’s writing is always lovely to read. It's flowing and easy, and ‘Crossing the Line’ is no different. Thee three Cross brothers are well on their way to get their HEAs and because the grumpy ones do tend to excite me more, I’m already expecting Owen’s story to be a hoot.

Eli Cross is known as the laid back Cross brother. He's more likely to be found playing than working. His latest stunt of shooting his mouth off has led to a ton of negative PR for the farm. For this reason, he's chosen to play host to a New York City photographer. Scarlett Edwards-Stewart is a world famous photographer who's doing a favor to help her best friend save her failing magazine. Her biggest problem is getting Eli to open up. Once they start using their chemistry to their advantage, her stories on their farm really take off. Prepare yourself for some real up and downs that will keep you on your toes for a good portion of the book. I cannot wait to see how the next book continues this story.

Eli Cross is seen as takes nothing serious and a lazy farmer. However he is really sweet, charming and all so sexy intelligent. Farming may be in his blood, but it is not his real passion. Scarlett Edwards-Stewart is sexy, sassy and an ambitious New York City photographer looking to get the scoop for a feature on Cross Creek for her friends magazine. These two are explosive and a real treat to read about. Highly entertaining relaxing sunny day read. Looking forward to my next visit to Cross Creek.

I got the first book thru Prime Reading and this one from KU because I enjoy this author so much. I really liked this one where people believe in other people, hard work and the great outdoors. I grew up in rural Iowa and in 4-H so this appeals to me. It was also fun to see Hunter and Emerson from the first book. I hope I can get the third book read soon.

I LOVED Crossing The Line by Kimberly Kincaid, the second book in her new series Cross Creek and struggled to put it down. This is Eli and Scarlet’s story as they try to help turn earnings around on Cross Farm. Scarlett is a world renown photographer, doing a favor for a friend who needs help saving her emagazine. She agrees to photograph and create videos of everyday life on the Cross Farm. Her friend will create recipes to accompany the photos as part of the month long coverage. Eli is assigned the task of show the farm to Scarlett and what starts as anger turns into friendship and appreciation of each other.
What or who exactly were crossing the line. Is it crossing the line to go from guide to friend to lover? Maybe it’s between family expectations and dreams? Or could it be between work and dreams? No, it might be between self-expectations and wants.
I really enjoyed reading this book as had Ms. Kincaid drew me in and did not let me go until I read the last page. Too cheesy for my taste

Apologies, last night I posted the review of this book against another ARC I was reading!
Eli Cross is the youngest of the three Cross boys. In the first book we see that he is considered to be a bit of a slacker by his two older brothers, even though he does other things around the farm that they don't know about. He also has a secret life, he loves words: reading and writing, and would rather listen to a recording of a Shakespeare play than listen to country music in his car. But Eli knows his life belongs on Cross Creek farm with his family and his dreams of being a writer are just that. His frustrations with his life and the pressure from his brothers, Owen in particular, lead Eli into entering a bet with the farm's closest rival, and Eli's personal bete noir.
Scarlett Edwards-Stewart is a free-spirited photographer. Having been abandoned to the welfare system as a baby, then adopted by two gay men, she travels the globe, calling no place her home, although she has an apartment in New York. When her best friend Mallory calls in a panic to say her online food blog "FoodE" is about to fold, Scarlett agrees to do an in-depth photo feature to save the blog. The only opportunity is for a small family farm in Idaho which farms both produce and livestock and embracing the whole farm to table movement and ecologically conscious farming.
When Scarlett arrives at the farm, all city girl clothes, VW Beetle car, tattoos and coloured hair, Eli is designated her guide and BFF as punishment for getting the farm embroiled in a bet when times are hard. But despite their initial antagonism, its true that opposites attract. But can Eli keep his secret life from Scarlett?
I felt that the first book in this series felt a bit disjointed, like three ideas for a book jammed together without segue. This book doesn’t suffer from the same issue. This second book is firmly centred on Scarlett and Eli’s growing romance and uncovering each other’s secrets. I thought the novel held together much better and I enjoyed the slower, more detailed development of the romance set against the backdrop of Scarlett’s photography, Mallory’s blog, the day-to-day life of the farm, and the occasional farmer’s market.
I thought there was a little confusion about the portrayal of Scarlett at the start: she is an internationally renowned photographer who has travelled all over the world and yet she is portrayed as thinking that either four-inch stilettoes or flip-flops would be suitable footwear for trudging around a farm all day! But that was a small niggle. My biggest disappointment was Eli, I still don’t really understand why he felt the need to do what he did in secrecy. I fail to understand what his issues were or why he behaved the way he did with Scarlett, he just felt quite immature to me.
But that was my only issue, otherwise I loved this sumptuous, sprawling story of farmer meets photographer against a backdrop of apple-picking and chicken feeding.
Fingers crossed that the next book is Owen’s, although the surprises of the last chapter make that less certain than before.

When Scarlett arrives at the farm, all city girl clothes, VW Beetle car, tattoos and coloured hair, Eli is designated her guide and BFF as punishment for getting the farm embroiled in a bet when times are hard. But despite their initial antagonism, its true that opposites attract. But can Eli keep his secret life from Scarlett?
I felt that the first book in this series felt a bit disjointed, like three ideas for a book jammed together without segue. This book doesn’t suffer from the same issue. This second book is firmly centred on Scarlett and Eli’s growing romance and uncovering each other’s secrets. I thought the novel held together much better and I enjoyed the slower, more detailed development of the romance set against the backdrop of Scarlett’s photography, Mallory’s blog, the day-to-day life of the farm, and the occasional farmer’s market.
I thought there was a little confusion about the portrayal of Scarlett at the start: she is an internationally renowned photographer who has travelled all over the world and yet she is portrayed as thinking that either four-inch stilettoes or flip-flops would be suitable footwear for trudging around a farm all day! But that was a small niggle. My biggest disappointment was Eli, I still don’t really understand why he felt the need to do what he did in secrecy. I fail to understand what his issues were or why he behaved the way he did with Scarlett, he just felt quite immature to me.
But that was my only issue, otherwise I loved this sumptuous, sprawling story of farmer meets photographer against a backdrop of apple-picking and chicken feeding.
Fingers crossed that the next book is Owen’s, although the surprises of the last chapter make that less certain than before.

Scarlett is a world renowned photographer, she’s shot some amazing people in equally amazing places, but in an attempt to help her best friend save her business, she’s now a bit out of her element in shooting the Cross Creek inner-workings. Sure she can make anything or anyone look beautiful, creating an unforgettable image from the simplest of items. But she’s struggling to get even the most basic of information out of Eli . . . and this just ups her curiosity.
Man, I loved Eli and Scarlett’s relationship. It’s built on mutual respect for what each of them do—and the romance is a slow burn. Sure they’re wildly attracted to each other, but they know they need to get the job done too . . . save the business, make the PR gods happy. But that romance is simmering underneath all the obligation and it’s awesome when it finally bubbles over. When Eli finally shares his deepest, darkest secrets with Scarlett. And when Scarlett supports Eli’s decisions just when he needs her most. I loved the balance of their relationship. Loved the easy banter and interactions. They’re sweet, sexy and smart. Eli’s family forces him to play host to Scarlett since he has “the most free time on his hands” and tells him to use his charm to make sure she stays happy and gets what she wants for the shoot. For all the tough exterior he presents to his family, Eli lets Scarlett in surprisingly quickly.
The unexpected twist at the end adds a little drama for the next book. The book ends rather abruptly. I wanted to see how Eli and Scarlett worked out all the details.

Review: I loved the first book in Kimberly Kincaid's latest series focused on the lives of three farming brothers and it gave us enough of an introduction to Eli that I thought I knew what I was getting in this book: a hot, cocky gung-ho young farmer who is won over by a famous photographer from a big city.
I was right, in part, but Eli is so much more. He has a secret he has been hiding from his brothers, he is smart, he is torn up about how he can't remember his mother, he feels the odd one out in the family and he is generally still trying to find his place in the world. Usually it's the Heroine in romances that get the most character development and I love that the focus was on the guy and his issues for a change.
There’s a family twist right at the end of the book that I didn’t see coming and will no doubt be explored further in Owen’s story but for now, am I the only hoping for a Greyson/Marley 4th book in the series? Surely I’m not the only one who can see the potential for this ship. The fact they haven’t met yet is a minor stumbling block for sure but there’s the whole third book to setup and then explore the potential for an interesting dynamic between the unwanted orphan and the Cross family’s biggest rival???

Once again, this talented author, gives us a story that is not only entertaining but also filled with a multitude of layers.
We return to Cross Creek and the Cross family. A family made up of 3 brothers and a Dad, all who work the family owned farm. Last time it was Hunter’s story, and this time , it’s Eli’s, the youngest of the brothers . Though the world sees him as a happy go lucky, unfazed person, in reality he feels deeply and is keeping many secrets from his family.
In comes Scarlett, a well known photographer that to help her dearest friend with her failing website, takes it upon herself, to photograph the farm and all it’s complexities. hoping this move will create enough traffic for the site. Little does she know, that she is also not only helping the farm, but she is helping Eli and herself.
This is a story that will make you laugh and cry. It’s a story about family loyalty and love for that family. It’s a story about being true to oneself. It’s a story about rediscovery, hope and love. And a reminder that life might be messy, but it is so worthwhile.

Are you ready for another trip to the Cross Creek Farm? Of course you are and boy are you in for a treat with youngest Cross brother Eli’s book.
Kimberly Kincaid has delivered a story with heart, feeling, passion, heat and soul in Crossing the Line.
I loved this story so damn much. I think it’s going to be my favourite of the series, big call yes but when a book is this good and pulls so emotionally at your heart strings you know it’s going to be hard to beat.
I may have fallen a tiny bit in love with Eli in the first book Crossing Hearts and now…..wow, who knew there was so many layers to Eli and that every single one I would fall for.
The tough country boy is a complicated man underneath and it takes a special woman to unearth the truth and peel back the layers to get to the REAL Eli and Scarlett is the woman to undo him once and for all.
I adored Scarlett. With her go, go, go attitude to her real passion for her career, there was something special about her that I loved seeing Eli notice, fight and give in to.
Watching these two circle each other while fighting the bone deep attraction was so much fun it should be illegal. Then seeing Scarlett bring out the other side of Eli, priceless.
Add in the other Cross brothers Owen and Hunter who take great joy in riding Eli’s ass over Scarlett, Emerson, Tobias (man I love the old guy) and one hell of a surprise that left me gasping in shock (hey it’s better than the tears that kept leaking because of all the feels) and you have a wonderfully fantastic addition to not only my Cross Creek library but my keeper/re-read shelf.
I can hear the farm calling and I think I need to do a re-read of both Cross Creek books ASAP. Just to keep myself entertained till we get Owen’s book which I need yesterday. I can’t wait to see how the threads started in this book play out.

A wonderful small town romance! I love this book! This story takes you to a small town, family farm with a close knit family, hard working hot men and a beautiful love story. As with all families there are some misconceptions and
ongoing tension between brothers Owen, the oldest and Eli, the youngest along with Hunter, the middle son that always tries to be the calming voice of reason. This book took me to the farm and made me feel and wish that I was there with them. I am loving this series. Author Kimberly Kincaid once again has written a really beautiful story. Her spot on understanding of people and their emotions is always demonstrated to the reader in her books. I highly recommend this book. A really great read!

Who knew farmers could be so sexy. meets the Cross brothers. This is Eli's story. Eli has placed a friendly bet on the farm leads to negative PR for the farm, so he now plays host to a photographer. Scarlett , the photographer is doing a favor by covering this story. Once she arrives to Cross Creek, she and Eli share a great chemistry. She gets Eli to open up to her, where his true love lies.

Whether it's farmers or firemen, Kimberly Kincaid books are always fantastic and this story is one of my favorites!! Eli and Scarlett are hot! They have sizzling chemistry (with one of the best first kiss scenes I've ever read), funny banter, and a strong emotional connection. I also loved the relationship between the three Cross brothers and their dad. I can't wait to read Owen's story next!!

When she learns her best friend's magazine is struggling, Scarlett Edwards-Stewart decides to help her friend out by going to Cross Creek and doing a feature on the Cross Brothers and their farm. Yet, the more time she spends with Eli Cross, the more she finds herself falling for a man who is so much more than he seems. Will Scarlett help him to finally follow his dreams, or will family drama keep him in Cross Creek?
What an incredible read Ms. Kincaid has penned in this second book of her Cross Creek series where the main characters entertained me from start to finish due to their back stories and their growing relationship; the dialogue was a wonderful combination of intense moments and teasing banter that had me cheering for this couple's happy ever after; and the ending had me spilling happy tears, because no one is more deserving of happy ever after than this couple. The way this story started had me sympathizing with the hero, as he's always in the wrong in the eyes of his brother Owen. However, it was from the moment the hero and heroine come face-to-face for the first time that had made this story a real page turner for me. Will Eli warm up to the heroine and give her a chance?
Both the main characters were enthralling, well-developed and I loved their back stories. Eli has always felt like the odd one out when it comes to his family. He has dreams that don't involve working the family land for the rest of his life. Will he take a chance and pursue what will make him happy? Will the heroine's encouragement and the opportunity he's given finally get him to open up to his family about all he's achieved? While the heroine, she's achieved so much, despite the fact that she had it tough growing up in foster care. Moreover, I liked how independent the heroine was and how she stood up for herself when it came to the way Eli was treating her when they first met. Yet, what I liked most of all about the heroine is how much of a challenge she provided the hero and how she managed to get him to open up to her, so she could get the story she was looking for instead of him continuing to resist her.
Overall, Ms. Kincaid has penned a wonderful and hot read in this book where the chemistry between this pair was off-the-charts. The way this story ended had me loving the hero more than I already did, as Eli comes to terms with his father's secret and realizes just how much he loves Scarlett. How could he possibly give up the opportunity they've been offered? I would recommend Crossing the Line by Kimberly Kincaid, if you enjoy small town romances or books by authors Marina Adair, Catherine Bybee, Samantha Chase and Erin Nicholas.

'Crossing the Line' by Kimberly Kincaid is book Two in the "Cross Creek" series. This is the story of Scarlett Edwards-Stewart and Eli Cross. I have not yet the previous books, so for me this was a standalone book.
Eli is the youngest of the brothers in the Cross Family. Eli seems to get a bad deal at every turn when working with his family. Yes, Eli doesn't make sound choices but when he makes these choices he has his heart in them. Like when he chooses to secretly help his dad with some of his work and then gets in trouble because now one knows he did it and they think he just be slacking somewhere. Eli even goes so far as to make a heated bet with a long standing rial to him when that person talks bad about the Family Farm. But there is more to Eli than he lets on...which Scarlett starts to see.
Scarlett has an unusual childhood being in the foster care than taking in by two daddies. Scarlett is now making a name for herself as a photographer and been working really hard. When her best friend confides in her that she needs help Scarlett quickly takes up the roll to help her by taking on the story of the Cross Family. Scarlett will work on taking pictures and getting some in site on the family for her friends magazine.
When Eli is put in charge of her and helping her get what she needs for the story, he is at first upset. But they start to get to know each other and find that there first impressions of each other are not who they really are.

This is an interesting take on a small town romance. Eli Cross has always longed for something more than the farm. He just doesn’t want to disappoint his family so he lingers around barely giving his all to the farm.
Eli gets into a tug of war with a neighboring farm about who is the best. The proof that Cross Farms is the best, he is assigned the task of showing Scarlett Edwards, photographer and journalist around when she arrives. He hopes she gets the full idea of what farm living is really like.
Scarlett has always been the drifter and Eli is longing to run away. Scarlett’s arrival stirs up a lot of emotions for Eli. He has a decision to make when he is finally faced with the truth. The bet is easily forgotten as they forge a connection based on Eli’s secret desire to write.
I didn’t fully connect with the characters. I didn’t understand Eli’s struggle. He wants to become a writer. He has this secret life but he feels as though he can’t leave his family. However, he comes across as cold and a cocky jerk. They don’t take him serious so that defeats the purpose of not wanting to disappoint them. I also didn’t understand why he hid that he enjoyed writing. It didn’t add up.
Scarlett didn’t feel like an authentic world renowned photographer. She didn’t act the part when she first arrived and then she fell in love with the simple life a bit too fast for me to buy her lifestyle. I did warm up to her as she helped Eli tap into his potential and discover his true calling.
There is some minor conflict at the end which should have been avoided. The two resolve it quickly and all is well. I’m not pleased with the unnecessary plot move at the end.
Of course I’m happy to see what happened to Hunter and Emerson. There is still a cozy charm to the small town that lures me in.
I want to continue on to the next book in the series. Owen has always been interesting to me.

The Crossing Creek series is a charming family saga that is wholesome and not too heavy on the angst. Each book also zeroes in on a health concern that is informative without being overwhelming the reader with a lot of dry facts, instead giving it a human touch. It is definitely a must read series.

When we met the Cross Creek clan last time around, we found Hunter to be a man who worked hard on his family farm, and when injured he was super unhappy. It was fun to have Scarlett find out how good at being romantic Eli turned out to be - I did wish we had seen something of their future and her taking charge - but maybe that will be mentioned in future installments.
A big family secret is revealed towards the end of the book, which will be an interesting feature in the next book - as must surely be the recently widowed Kate. I love it when there are hints of what is to come!
This is the second book in the series - and if you read Crossing Hearts you will be very happy to know that it is Eli's turn to get his story and all being well HEA too.

ARC REVIEW
So I loved Eli and Scarlett, they are definitely my favorite couple of the series. Scarlett is a natural wanderer, and as a professional photographer it fits right in with her job. She never stays in one place long because no place ever really feels like home. Eli has been keeping a secret as much as he loves the family farm he has never felt that he belonged there. He also got a degree online as a journalist and has been the copywriter for Cross Creek for the last ten years. Scarlett to help save her best friends emagazine comes up with the idea of focusing on Cross Creek and all that makes their farm special over the span of a month and Scarlett herself will take all the picture and video. Eli and Scarlett start off bumpy because of Eli, the camera never lies and he's afraid of what the camera will show about him. Scarlett finally gets him to open up and the sexual tension that has been building between them finally breaks. Eli even confides to her his dream and Scarlett convinces him to finally tell the truth to his family and follow his dream. But suddenly a giant bombshell of a secret is revealed and everything seems lost.
Overall, definitely my favorite of the three. Eli and Scarlett are such a fun couple and I loved their story.

A great second installment for this series.
This time we get to meet Eli, and a new character, Scarlett. What can I say? LOVED these two! Eli was so freaking charming and lovely; and Scarlett was so freaking cool, lol. I couldn’t wait for them to get together.
Here we see Eli’s inner struggle between his duty to his family and farm; and his passion, a passion that wanted to make itself know like whoa. This guy was stressed out! And Scarlett, I loved her spirit and soul, she deserved soo much happiness. :-)
I loved Eli and Scarlett’s interactions, and I loved the Cross family even more here. We got to know them much better than the previous book.
Seriously, a great addition to this series. I can’t wait to hear Owen’s story. There were glimpses here that make me think it’s gonna be a good one.
